    ECU flashing is not available for your 2021 ZX10R yet but trust me when it is get it. Not only does it unrestrict everything it Smooths it out as well. I have the same bike as your wife same color as well. I had the ECU flashed buy more Mafia and it is just a completely different bike now. Not only is it faster everywhere. it's smoother especially when you first get on the throttle not jerky anymore.so much smoother at lower RPMs they offer something called the quick shifter fix. Lightning Fast shifts. If you like the popping sounds some bikes make when you let off the throttle they can make it do that as well.

      yes I'm looking forward to the ECU getting cracked; and I'm sure it will sometime this year. I'll be sending in for a re-flash as I said in the exhaust vid. I think there are benefits to doing so beyond the performance. Thank you for the suggestion and for stopping by Carl!

    Again, Best of Luck with it. You will get it sorted out. Let the bike speak to you as well. It sounds stupid but give it a shot. Sometimes ones expectations aren't in line with the machine's personality.

      Thanks William! I'm heading on vacation for a week but when I'm back I plan on having many conversations with this bike 😀! I think in this case I've been spoiled and I'm just having a hard time adjusting. As I a said I think this is going to be a good bike...I just have to work through a few issues and I'll be covering that in an upcoming video. Thanks William as always for stopping by and give me motivation!

    And this is why we have multiple motorcycles lol! I agree with one of the comments below it is made for speed not for pleasure riding lol! I get that whole love at first ride and the not so love at first ride which leads me another agreement on another comment, sometimes our expectations disappoint us. Give the bike a chance and if it still not floating your boat you could always trade with Mrs Ninja I'm sure she would love that bike 😁👍

    No fuel gauge.. right? I was the same way, the 636 has one as does the N1K, at least they give us a low fuel warning light or at least the 2019 does. I just hit 700mi and ready for 1st oil change. Was out for about 6 hrs and wrists and back were killing me, so Ill just do long rides on the N1K. Gotta say though, the ZX10R is the funnest bike Ive ever had. If you wanna sell your M4 setup lemme know, I'm getting close to buying one myself.

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  3 роки тому +1

      Hey 3Shot! yeah the fuel guage thing really is inexcusable in my opinion. I cannot think of a scenario where that isn't a useful feature to anyone riding. I know I've had a lot of not so positive things to say about this bike but I totally agree that the bike is fun to ride and I think its more about me adjusting to the bike than the bike actually being poorly designed or anything along those lines...well the tail section is horrendous compared to both the 636 and N1K from a maintenance standpoint. I dont know who designed it but I think I'd punch him in the throat if I ran into him. Other than that though... Its been good.

    If you aren't going to break the law nor go to the track, having this bike is pointless. To each their own. You should have kept the N1k or waited to have both imo. Stay safe!

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  3 роки тому +1

      Ah TT, respectfully I disagree. The more I ride this bike and get used to the new geometry I'm liking it more and more. It was such a sharp departure from the N1K and even the 636 that it really threw me off when I first rode it. I do like to go fast on occasion and "break the law" if you will but my love for these bikes is more about my own thrills just being able to have one. When I was younger I never could have afforded a bike like this and from the very beginning of my channel and throughout many of my videos I mentioned the desire to sit atop a super sport bike one day. You know, I'm just that old guy with a corvette sitting in the garage who takes it out on sunny days haha....only mine only has two wheels :) As you said, to each their own but riding through dense freeway traffic with my hair on fire is not my idea of "fun" and frankly I think its pretty thoughtless and dangerous not only for the rider but for those cars they're weaving in and out of. NOW, the track is becoming more and more interesting to me and that is something I'm seriously considering! I may indeed end up back on an N1K but for now I'm satisfied with my decision and I really appreciate your opinion. I'll continue to get my adrenaline up on long straight country highways!! Take care TT!

    Funny what you said about the seating position on the ZX10R vs. the ZX6R. I had an older 2014 ZX10R and an older 2016 ZX6R and found the ZX10R to be a whole lot more comfortable. On the ZX6R I felt I was being tilted forward and I had to use my core strength a lot more to keep the pressure off the bars. They must have changed the seating setup on this latest generation. A different seat and like you said perhaps aftermarket rear sets might be exactly what you need to make it feel right for you.

    Why not try a naked for a change of pace?
    Was choosing a month ago between zx6 or zh2, I went with the zh2 myself. Mainly because my commutes are straights, and rarely do I ever go for the twisties.
    Still though, the ZH2 has the same exact dash, literally the same. Except it states the gas on the lower left, instead of whatever is on the zx10 lol.

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  3 роки тому

      yeah I wouldn't consider either the zx-6 or zx-10 "comfortable" in the seat department but for me the zx-6 has the edge over the zx-10 mostly because of the seating position/geometry. I'm definitely doing a video on this topic!!

    It has a fuel gauge of sorts but it reads fuel used since the last reset, if you reset it each time you fill it up it will atleast not keep you in the dark. You can find how to enable it here if you haven't already ua-cam.com/video/jr7xZUjBqMQ/v-deo.html I agree though, kinda strange not including a traditional meter for something as basic as that.

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  3 роки тому

      Yeah agreed but I feel it was a lost opportunity to design it that way. Now I have to actively remember to reset my fuel every time I fill up which....I wont and then I'll instantly be in the dark. I just dont get why they didn't put it in there especially when their N1K and N650 have basically the same dash and they both have one. SMH!

      @@StormtrooperRides Agreed, i ordered the matte black EU version a week ago but it's sold out and i might have to wait for a 22. Hope they update it somehow, if the bike can calculate how much fuel you're using one would think that it wouldn't be impossible to change it to how much you have left.

    I think it’s cool you’re trying out the ZX-10R. I’ve had my 2017 Ninja 1000 for about 1.5 years now, and man, I don’t think I would get rid of it, even if I bought another bike. I’ve done all the mods I really wanted except power mods which may be coming soon, in the form of full Akrapovic exhaust and Ivan’s flash. They will give the N1K a nice boost in sound and power. I hope you get the 10R to your liking. I’m - probably like most riders - always looking at other bikes as potential future bikes. Enjoy the new ride, and watch out for the cops once you get through those break-in miles. 😎

      Well Dan....greed, greener grass, UA-cam, old dreams all had a role to play. Believe me if I could afford it I would have kept the N1K because that bike was like a soul-mate... I never could get past getting on a super sport though and I dont think I could resist owning one before I get entirely too old to be able to do it. If you look back at my first video I mentioned my desire to ride a super sport...and well 4 years later...here I am. That is the truth.

  • @TexMexStrada

    Good perspectives! Do you thing for everyday riding and weekend jaunts, does the ZX10R justify the premium over the ZX6R? Are the suspension, low-end torque, and brakes worth the $7K price difference? Thank you in advance!

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  3 роки тому +1

      The short answer is NO, I do not think the cost is justified for street only. That said I dont regret my decision...but there are some caveats to that. The 636 remains my favorite bike in our garage period. I'll get to that in another video. For what its worth, the 636 is one of the best bikes I've ever ridden. Its super smooth, has tons of power, is relatively comfortable to ride and doesn't feel at all cramped to me even though its slightly smaller and weighs a touch less than the ZX10. There are two issues though with the 636 and that is that Kawasaki needs to update the dash and like pronto...since pretty much every other bike they sell now has the digital display. The other "sort of issue" is that it doesn't come equipped with an IMU which is a great safety feature that both the ZX10 and Ninja 1000 both have. Other than that, I think the 636 remains the BEST value period in the 600 class of super sport. Hopefully that helps and let me know if you want me to elaborate on anything else. Honestly the ZX10 is a kick to ride as long as you're going over 40mph...to me its not nearly as smooth up to 30mph and maybe if the ECU ever gets cracked a tune will correct that....but until then I stand by my opinion on these two bikes.

      @@StormtrooperRides Awesome feedback, thank you so much! I appreciate your detailed and well-reasoned response. I have been looking at literbikes and narrowed it down to an S1000RR or a ZX-10R. Attended a recent demo event where, unfortunately, those weren't on offer. But the ZX6R was, so I thought, "hey, it is a nibble of the ZX10R flavor, let's give it a whirl." Long story short, I loved every moment on the ZX6R. Literally every movement of the controls was a giggle-inducing experience.
      so now I'm scouring the interwebs looking for perspectives and viewpoints to see if the ZX10R is another level up in terms of experience or if the ZX6R is, after all, the bike I should be buying. Thank you for your reviews of both so far and your feedback as well.
      All I've read & viewed so far echos your perspectives: ZX10R has fantastic electronics, but not a bike that Is fun to ride slow, while the ZX6R is a step behind in electronics, but several steps ahead in the fun-to-ride-at-any-speed department.
      Thank you once again, I appreciate you!

    I think you’ll realize you don’t need that extra power and trade down to the zx6r lol I think it suits your riding style better. You had a ninja 1000, but it was not really a 1000 in terms of performance it was more like a comfortable 600. You sound much more content on your wife’s may just be me tho ha

Nevertheless, I am going to give this bike a fair shake and I'm going to stick with it and be sure to understand what it is about this bike that is bugging me. If it can be fixed I plan on discovering that as well. If so then I'm sold. The power of the bike doesn't intimidate me so it is definitely something in the new design/geometry. More to come!
