I have written songs in the guitar, and can confirm this is 100% how it's done. From Bob Dylan to Machine Gun Kelly, that's how they all do it and sometimes it shows a little too much.
As someone with musical ear syndrome, and who is a musician, I can actually say that while some songs haven't come to me a dream, they have come to me due to my audio processing issues making me 'hallucinate' sounds.
@@TheLivingMelanie It's not terrible for me, b/c it only really happens when it's quiet. But I have heard from some people who say it's really distracting at best.
Im a pianist but this is why Im focused on learning guitar. Its so fucking easy produce a song with guitar, you dont even need to know music theory just how to TOUCH 2 or 3 chords, arpeggiate, imagination and thats it. Its not coincidence that music take a great evolution since guitar was introduced in jazz
You make everything seem so easy, but explain it in a way that gives me hope. Cheers for the awesome video as always, they have made me a better player than you could comprehend. Thank you :)
Practicing your scales seems to help with the melody, and noting things you hear people say to help with lyrics I usually seem to be able to improv a melody when I start practicing my scales. I'm sure if I ever take a notepad to work and note what people say to each other at the tables I'd be able to come up with song lyrics
i’ve had numerous songs come to me in a dream. one of them even ended up on my first album. my best friend has experienced the same. it definitely happens more than people think.
this video was a huge help, if you could make a video explaining how to find good lyrics. like when i should have words that rhyme or if i even have to have them at all.
Those are the kind of decisions you have to make yourself as an artist. A lot of songs rhyme every line, and there's songs that don't have any rhymes at all. Neither one is more correct than the other, they're expressions of the writer. No one else can tell you what the "good" lyrics are for you, and tbh the only way to get closer to your true voice is to keep experimenting with the process.
YOU are the angel in my dream and we're all living in a budget Inception sequel ❤ this is great advice! But lowkey when I started learning guitar I started waking up with bits of fully produced-sounding songs in my head. The other day I shook my boyfriend awake and told him I heard a White Lies song called "Have a piece of bread". He loves White Lies and bread, so I think that one was supposed to land in his head and accidentally ended up in mine. Maybe it's magic, maybe the more you engage with a skill, the more your unconscious brain keeps working on it too? Idk but it's fun.
Remember, people don't know what you're doiong, so they don't know when you're making a mistake. Also, breaks are common in songs, so you could use that to think about the next lines, if you're improvising.
I have a question to ask about the tunning, i see people learning the fretboard on standard tunning but what happened if I change the tunning? Do i have to learn it again? For example math rock tunning “FACGCE” can i play that on standard?
Technically if you change the tuning al of the scales and chord shapes will be different. But a lot of alternate tunings definitely don’t need as much structure as standard tuning. But yeah, the only way to really play songs that are in a different tuning if you want it to sound like the original is to retune your guitar,
@@RedlightBluei seen some artist like ichika nito can play a lot different tuning and even have unique tuning of his like the “Ethernal” thing, how can he do such thing like that? It is pure practices or he just really talented in that? Thank you for the answer, definitely a like and subscribe for you❤❤
I play bass guitar and had made some original songs on it. Someone on a twitch chat said that I should have a guitar to make originals. I feel like the last three years of making material was for nothing.
Even AI has its limits. People want to hear music that moves them. So AI might put together a melody that mimics something that’s been done before, but lyrics that speak to the heart is something else entirely.
Writing music is something you can’t force. Pay attention to what people say and do around you. Listen to phrases that are said and turn them around. When you think of something that makes you happy….write. When you think of something that makes you sad or angry…write. These emotions spark creativity. Good luck.
my Dream Angel is hanging out with my Guardian Angel .. so i should start writing Blues song since those two aint likely to show up? just.. Start, now.🧭 and Thanks for the encouragement.
I’ll just wait for the dream angel
This is actually unironically helpful
looking forward to the full song release
ive been playing for 200 million years and i have heard nothing more angelic.... this is truly one of the guitars of all time

Damn bro...that's cool!
(Idk if musical ear syndrome is a bad thing for day to day so sorry if u find this offensive I didn't mean to be rude!)

I think piano is easier. But in reality they both follow the same principle. Just preference really
It's basically just the arpeggios that are easier on guitar
I can confirm this is exactly how I make music
you are like sam o nella academy but for guitar and i love you
I've been playing for almost 30 years. This is the best channel out there. Hilarious

You have a fantastic voice
Amazing✨

What if I pick two chords that sound bad together and wait for a sleep demon to visit me instead?
I want to hear that song
great video and thanks for the advice

Positives are radiating from you

This channel combines the two best things in the world: animation and music
Thank you. Btw you have a good singing voice
Great video! Can you do the same thing for lead guitar next?
Can you make videos on music production for beginners?
You read my mind. I have a few things planned
I second this. Just got an audio interface and a bass, so once I come up with a song (which this vid should help) I’ll be ready to go.
Yes!! These recent videos have been perfectly timed for me lol
The dream angel has done well

Instructions unclear, there is now Sharpie on my Tanglewood
Then, there’s also famous chord progressions to play with like I-III-IV-iv
Turns out I’ve been doing it right for the past 5 years
I have have had beats come to me in dreams so I know it happens.
Wait for the angel… or just go down to the crossroads instead…
The Muppet part got me, hahah
“We just need two chords, we could add a third… but we won’t- now we just” lmfao 😂😂😂😂

Qwesome
But the problem for me is that I have made the lyrics before the melody. and now I cannot do the melody...
Waiting for the Angel now🙏
Writing a song is easy, writing a song people will want to listen to, or even remember isn't so easy.
wait for the angel please, and if the angel doesn't come find something else to do instead
I can write a song in ten minutes but writing the lyrics takes like 3 days
"Most of the time"
How to sing video when
Just ask ChatGPT
CHATGPT GONNA BE TAKING OVER MUSIC WRITING SOON 🥲
And everything else too

Yes, and ai could never write something like "do re mi" by kurt cobain for example
I hit a wall. I’m in the army so I don’t play as often. I’m nowhere near where I used to be. Lyrics don’t really come to me now
They’ll come
Idk bro, that comment sounds like lyrics to a pretty killer song already.

Furst
Not the kind of songwriting I’m looking for
