A couple of suggestions: - being able to set keyswitches to latching - being able to use the non-pre-recorded slides with a keyswitch rather than the auto slide function because sometimes you might want to overlap notes without sliding
Hey! Finally digging into this now, love it - just wondered is there a way to tighten up the attack, or is there a recommended negative MIDI offset to get it a little tighter on the grid? I get with sample instruments like this you need a little pre-attack for it to sound natural but it feels a bit behind the click...maybe? Sick work though, best sampled guitar I have by a mile. I just bought cabal 8 and now I'm seeing this wtf. This plugin is a dream come true since I lost my guitar recently. I can't wait to purchase this and use it as a songwriting/production tool even after I get an 8 string with Evertune.
The timing on this is insane. Literally JUST started a new project under my artist name for the Electronic Music I produce. Was playing actual guitar to come up with riffs then rewrite the MIDI with Odin II in Ableton - (same method as I do for my live/metal band projects/releases) - and incorporate some metal into this new Dubstep-like Electronic project. Unfortunately, gotta wait until next paycheck, a couple days out, but this track is gonna hit heavier and SO much better than I was imagining when I use the newer Odin instead!!! I guess I’ll just keep writing the ‘basic’ MIDI for the guitar parts and when this bad mf gets brought in, THEN the specific sounds, patterns, styles, etc will come into play. Cant wait! Another badass plugin dude! Loki, Odin, Mjolnir, and Fenrir are part of my premade template every single time, and has never failed to bring my tracks to life, sounding just like I want them.
Been using Ample metal Hellrazer but I need to get another one for that thick wall of sound~ been looking into this. Also hi I watch your YGO vids when they pop up on my feed lol
Two months ago I was like "I like Odin II, but I cannot select strings or hand positions like shreddage". I got used to it, but it devastated me to realize Odin 3 just dropped, and it has all the needed features, but none of the headache.
Sorry for adding all the features everyone asked for :') To make matters worse: we're soon releasing Odin 3.1 which will bring a ton more features everyone has been asking for. The horror !
Nope, there doesn't seem to be a way, you're stuck with those predefined tunings. Bummer, I cannot get to import my Guitar Pro midis directly in as I could with Shreddage 3 Hydra / any other Kontakt based libraries. I think Ample Sound Hellrazer can also import midis directly from Guitar Pro.
Hi Solemn tones, i just got your odin 3 with the sanguine bass...can you plesse make a tutorial on how to make riffs like the djent style or may be a doom mick gordan style. 😊

I appreciate the "Auto Chord Delay." That's been a big time eater for my writing. How long is the sustain? Is using midi from Guitar pro the same as Odin 2, just have to flip the "octave drop" switch? I'm curious to see how the "force vibrato" works. Will that be keyswitch activated as well? Because you probably don't want all the notes in a lead section to have vibrato.
The sustain is much much longer than Odin 2. It obviously varies from note to note as an open string can ring far longer than a 24th fret, but you can rest assured sustain on your chords and such will not be an issue. There is no octave drop switch anymore so you'd have to manually move all notes 12 semitones by highlighting them. The reason for this is that Odin 3 has SO many articulations, we could never fit them onto the midi spectrum when losing an octave. In essence, if a library matches guitar pro's octaves, it's impossible that it has as many articulations as Odin 3 does. Force vibrato can be automated on/off but is not keyswitch activated. Not all notes in a lead section would have a vibrato, since you can make them start late into the note with the attack knob. That said, worst case, it can just be automated on/off.
3 questions: Can you pitch bend 1 note during a chord? For example a dissonant bend, where i have string 1 on 13th fret, string 2 on 17th fret, and i just bend the 17th fret while not bending string 1? does the sequencer use any previous midi information to determine the string? Like if i write a note in on the 15th fret, but i want it on the 12th fret of another string, so i modify that one note, will my next drawn in note know to use that area in relation? Im a little confused on how to change positioning. For example if i want to solo frets 9-17, and i have the pattern / position set yo play there, cool, but what if one run later i want to do the same but starting from like 5-9 going across the strings with some chords inbetween - it seems like the pre defined areas cant be changed and i would have to input a separate guitar for just those parts with different string positioning.
im super new to this - very enjoyable, would be great if someone did a full song tutorial that the absolute beginners who are slow as f*ck can follow along - learn/ pick up tricks - that way less frustration and we'd get more out of it
Hi there, we got tons of song breakdowns on the channel where you can download the midi files and load those in your sessions to learn from (as well as many odin 2 tutorials throughout the years). Is there something specific you currently find challenging?
Having crazy fun with this. Can i ask a question. When im using the natural harmonic keyswitch sometimes it rings out nice like i want it to but some times is stops dead. I cant figure out why this is happening. Im using the same natural harmonic keyswitch with the same string on the same note. No notes or keyswitch notes are over-lapping. Any advice would be awesome! \m/
As a dad I want to produce but can’t manage to practice a lot… This plugin is a blessing 😂 I have uploaded a video on my UA-cam channel showcasing Odin 3 in a mixing context for the ones wondering how it can sound :)
This is great. A couple questions: How would you automate Force Vibrato so it can be toggled on or off as necessary since it's not a keyswitch? And how does the auto slide work when you overlap two notes? Should the new note start when you want the slide to start from, or should the previous note extend into the new note? Do other things need to be turned on or off for this to work? It just sounds weird when I'm doing it. And will you have a written technical manual describing how all these features work? Thank you!!!
Question. I play in a drop G# variant on a 7, which is obvs not standard 7 string tuning, will I be able to programm the fretting on the 7th string and it still sound /display the fretting properly - if that makes sense?
Hi there, the only problem with adding these would be that the string selection keyswitches would then attempt to pull from fret/sample combinations that don't even exist. The tuning section is purely a visual aid and has no impact on the available notes, so making it break certain other features would be a problem.
I was really excited to see the new Odin 3 plugin and the features it brings to the table. However, when you introduced the String Select feature at 5:27, I noticed something that caught my attention. While listening, it sounded like the guitar had a very muffled attack-the pick noise wasn't coming through at all. Interestingly, I saw that the Soft Attack feature was turned off in the plugin, so there shouldn’t be any additional smoothing or curves affecting the sound. Could there be another reason for this sound characteristic? Perhaps it's related to the new samples or some settings in the amp sim? This isn't the kind of sound I'd expect from a guitar simulation, especially when aiming for a realistic and articulate performance. Any insights or adjustments to achieve a more natural attack would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your hard work and innovation in guitar plugins!
I've been using Odin 3 for a few days now and all features are as advertised, but I find myself constantly having to go back to Odin 2 specifically for sustained palm mutes. Even the most open palm mutes available in the sample library of Odin 3 die out too quickly. Hopefully an update comes where this is fixed
Hi there, we sampled new long held out palm mutes the past 2 weeks and are adding them to the engine as we speak. Odin 3.1 will come in a few weeks with these, along with a bunch of other new features :)
So since all notes are available at all times, to change “tuning” you would simply drag the midi notes up or down however many semitones until you get your preferred sound, correct?
Yes exactly. Though you still may want to change the tuning/string selection presets to get different tonal characters as the same note played on different strings will still sound warmer or brighter
Really sick upgrade and can't wait to try it out! I was curious what the lowest sampled note here was. The default tuning seems to be F# but it can go as low as C1. Is the default F# the lowest open string note that was sampled and the lower ones are pitch shifted down from those samples, or were they all setup and actually recorded at that pitch?
It was recorded down to F and then pitched down. If we A/B this, the pitched version is actually tighter than recording the samples and needing even thicker strings. But obviously it can also be personal preference :)
Its badass!!! Once you get to fiddling with it and putting time into programing I would go as far as to say it sounds like the real deal. A lot of guitar players refuse to park their pride and admit those sort of things because it's a bit of a kick in the dick, but hey...technology is incredible these days. I got it to basically sound exactly like a really polished modern metal guitar recording. It seems to have this annoying honky frequency in the 600-700Hz area, but that's a very minor complaint and nothing an eq cut can't fix. To my ears anyways. It really is a beast though, excellent job again Solemn Tones 👏
I just wanted to make sure on something with the tunings in Odin 3: I normally tune my 8 string down a step and a half to Eb with the lowest string. Odin 3 can go to notes this low and produce the pitch, right? It's just that those low notes might not be represented on the virtual fretboard, which essentially doesn't matter for the actual sound output
Go to the “tuning” menu and set it to “7 string drop A” OR if you like the thick warmth of the 8 string, just leave it default and play your riffs :) Note the sampler will be calibrated 12 semitones off guitar pro’s midi notation so you’ll want to transpose your whole midi 12 semitones
Even guitarists can use it to write, do pre-pro, make demos on the road, etc.. We’ve had customers with disabilities who lost their ability to play but still get to write this way, etc.. Lots of reasons guitarists can use this :)
I just bought Odin 3 and I love it. I'm new to using midi guitar so I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong but when I switch it to DI and add a guitar amp sim the panning seems to go from wide to narrow. How would I go about fixing this? Thanks!
Is it possible your daw lists the keyswitch numbers differently? (the keyswitches do not make sound, so perhaps it’s the wrong octave numbering if you’re on Reaper or FL studio)
When we recorded the samples, the Evertune ensured the strings don't go sharp on the impact of the pick. This is a big challenge in recording aggressive metal guitars.
Is there a setting for how far bends go and is there a release bend? Like if I want to bend up a whole step and release it back down to the original note. Is that in there or do I need to use pitch automation in the daw?
This program appears to not work with reaper at all because the midi doesn't allow you to go low enough to add hammer ons or slides or anything really feeling like I wasted money big time on this. I would really appreciate some help
Hi James, Reaper numbers its octaves differently, but the keyswitches are actually still fully available. You'd just have to place the keyswitches in an octave higher. We're addressing this in our 3.1 patch releasing this week, where the numbers will match Reaper as well, but it should already be fully functional keeping this error in mind

Yes, it can go down that low and you can even change the visual tuning in the "advanced" settings, but it won't impact your sound whatsoever.
@@SolemnTones Thank you for the quick response! Now it's time for me to go get Odin 3 and run it through that beautiful Fenrir amp 🤘
Very keen to try this out
If you wanted to play a song in drop A how would you set that up??
Go to the “tuning” menu and set it to “7 string drop A” OR if you like the thick warmth of the 8 string, just leave it default and play your riffs :) Note the sampler will be calibrated 12 semitones off guitar pro’s midi notation so you’ll want to transpose your whole midi 12 semitones
What's the best way to make a good old fashion 2-3 string chug on Odin?
Just play them all at 30 velocity. Perhaps put the higher notes at 20 if there’s too much bloomy buildup when all are at 30
Damn, even as a guitarist Im thinking about getting this :D
Even guitarists can use it to write, do pre-pro, make demos on the road, etc.. We’ve had customers with disabilities who lost their ability to play but still get to write this way, etc.. Lots of reasons guitarists can use this :)
Any chance that you'll be adding sharps/flats to the tuning section?
which real guitar would the direct input resemble (no amp)? if i ever to play my music on stage and had to recreate my sound
esp ltd sc608
Loved the odin 2, but Im now using the shreddage hydra. How does the odin 3 compare to the hydra?
I just bought Odin 3 and I love it. I'm new to using midi guitar so I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong but when I switch it to DI and add a guitar amp sim the panning seems to go from wide to narrow. How would I go about fixing this? Thanks!
it’s possible your amp sim is set to mono output? bias fx can do this, for example
@@SolemnTones Ok I'll check it! Thanks!
very excited for this.
Fuck yeah dude, sounds good. I noticed the keyswitch list doesnt match the keyboard tho
I can't put a halter on the first version, and here the third already...
Can i try it and shoot a review? I’m so stroked for this and make a review track.
Super stoked for this
Imagine a collaboration with Solemn Tones and Toontrack for a EZGuitar Odin product
The keyswitches how to use them without the keyswitch sounding aswell?
Is it possible your daw lists the keyswitch numbers differently? (the keyswitches do not make sound, so perhaps it’s the wrong octave numbering if you’re on Reaper or FL studio)
@@SolemnTones Sry i was not looking good, it works fine , thx for reacting
great work man
„Evertune Bridge for maximum Tuning stability“ , it‘s a virtual Instrument , since when Virtual Instruments get out of tune ? I don’t get the point 🤔
When we recorded the samples, the Evertune ensured the strings don't go sharp on the impact of the pick. This is a big challenge in recording aggressive metal guitars.
It was used while tracking the samples!
@@SolemnTones Awesome 🤩 , i didn’t think about this concrete recording case! Thanks for your Answer! 🤘🏻
Is there a setting for how far bends go and is there a release bend? Like if I want to bend up a whole step and release it back down to the original note. Is that in there or do I need to use pitch automation in the daw?
You’d need to draw it in pitch bend modulation
@@SolemnTones Cool. Thanks for answering. Thing sounds sick. You did a wonderful job.
Is it possible to set bend range to 4 semitones? I like to bend 3 semitones especially to emphasize phrygian dominant or harmonic minor
Currently the bend range is set in stone, but in our coming Odin 3.1 update, we are adding a bend intensity knob that lets you change this.
Awesome! Is there an option to use a 6-string instead?
Thanks to the string selection features, you can simply use the 6 thinnest strings for your whole song and utilize it as if it's a 6 string.
@@SolemnTones gotcha. So if I program a drop-C (CGCFAD) on a 6-string guitar in Guitar Pro it would work just fine?
This program appears to not work with reaper at all because the midi doesn't allow you to go low enough to add hammer ons or slides or anything really feeling like I wasted money big time on this. I would really appreciate some help
Hi James, Reaper numbers its octaves differently, but the keyswitches are actually still fully available. You'd just have to place the keyswitches in an octave higher.
We're addressing this in our 3.1 patch releasing this week, where the numbers will match Reaper as well, but it should already be fully functional keeping this error in mind
@@SolemnTones I have tried and can't seem to get it to work I am getting ready for a guitar lesson here in a second afterwards I could try sending a video maybe I'm just doing something wrong
@@jamesmandarino6641 could you contact us by email with your midi file and any screen recordings? I'm sure we can figure this out for you :)
the chord delay got me
