I’m a book reader and I’m loving this season. Truly don’t understand the hate in the pace. I love that all the minimal details are taken care of minus a couple mistakes here and there. For example, the small folk guy that gets his hand chopped off when reaching out to Alicent is the same guy that casts a spell on Rhaenyra during Jahaerys’ funeral. That’s an interesting detail because this character will play a role in future events that I won’t spoil here. I’ve been picking up subtle things that people have misssed or overlooked even book readers that add quite a lot to the plot. Anyways, great reaction as always guys.
Fun fact the Tully family at this time is named after the Muppets. With Oscar, Kermit, and even Elmo being names of Tully's at this time. But they seemed to kill most of the off, unlike the books because having a character named Elmo might be a little too goofy
We can see Aemond is putting order and taking charge at the council, nobody's wasting time anymore, he's not manipulative at all, and the council don't like that.
Tbh people complaining about the whole lesbein scene is stupid as f*ck if you ask me, its like people hating on ellie in the last of us games for being gay(and its in the show too so its not a spoiler for the games)
And in the book rhaenyra is more sexually liberated and ruthless. Dragon riders tend to do whatever they want. So as a book reader, i was not suprised at all.
Most if Helena wired bug related dialog usually ends up happening with the characters. She predicted both Ameond losing his eye, and Agon not being able to walk, which makes her a seer, which is a change from the books.
“This one stopped singing” maybe someone loses their voice/tongue or gets their throat cut 👀 but I also wonder if the three bugs represent any 3 specific characters or not
Everyone in the castle can see Alys, but they never look her in the eye or talk to her because they are all afraid of her. She pretty much owns Harrenhal Castle.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 it's hinted when Larys told his story to Aegon. It's pretty obvious that's what the writers intended. Anyone who read the book will have the same conclusion.
Ppl don’t realize how hard it is to adapt this book lol literally Daemon is not even mentioned in this portion. You know how the book addressed Darklyns death and Addam getting Seasmoke? “When Prince Jacaerys Velaryon called for dragonriders, Steffon made an attempt to mount Seasmoke during the Sowing, but he was burned to death by the dragon. He was succeeded as Lord Commander by Ser Lorent Marbrand.” Wow, real insightful. And I don’t have the exact passage but it’s literally just stated that a 15year old boy named Addam of Hull was the new rider of seasmoke. Riveting.
That's what writers are paid to do. They should add the stuff that's missing and fill in the blanks... Not change entire plotlines are create plotholes they themselves are unable to explain
@@trymex9168 Book is not trash. It s fictional chronicle. That you preffer novels doesn't make it 'trash'. As for show - it is good in its own right, though is not always accurate adaptation. Alyn was teenager and was turned into 30 year old glumpy guy.
I love how Seasmoke was not going to be claimed. He went out after another failed attempt to be claimed. He hunted Addam down and he claimed his rider. The best part of this whole episode! Addam's blood probably smells just like Laenor's blood.
Paddy Considine (Viserys) filmed all new scenes but he had mostly the same lines from season 1 so he didn't have to learn new ones. 😅 Daemon got some therapy by illusions/nightmares. We'll see if he changes to a better man when he finally leave Harrenhal. 😂
Beginning of season 5 of GoT was a slow burn, but I was never bored. We did get some fireworks toward the end. I think epi 7 will have more action and end on a cliffhanger. Epi 8 will have major fireworks and will probably end on an even bigger cliffhanger.
It was very common in Medieval times for the nobility to foster their children in the homes of other nobility. It was another way of creating alliances between important families. Children were often sent when they were old enough to serve in roles such as cup bearers or squires. And this was especially done with children that were not the direct heirs. In the Game of Thrones series you learn early on that Ned and Robert became close friends when they were both fostered with Jon Arryn at the Eyrie in the Vale. It was how they grew up to feel as close as brothers. Or as Robert always insisted, Ned was more of a brother to him than his real brothers. In the case of Alicent’s third son, Daeron, he has been fostered in his mother’s house, the Hightowers of Oldtown, which is another prestigious house. Fans of this character from the book Fire and Blood were very disappointed that there had been no mention of him in the first season. But the show creators kept assuring everyone that he had not been written out of the story.
Lord Paramount means the top lord in charge of that area. They are under the Targaryens in the hierarchy. But they are equal to each other. Starks are Lord Paramounts of the North (but they use the title Warden of the North), Tullys are Paramounts of the Riverlands, Greyjoys of the Iron Islands, Lannisters of the Westerlands, Arryns for the Vale, Tyrells for the Reach and Baratheons for the Stormlands. (Dorne and the Martells are not under the Iron Throne's control yet).
The scene is completely different. Lighting is different, the guards are gone, the angle its shot at is flipped (paddy is on the left now and Matt on the right)
Honestly daemon learning about the kiss is way less scary than alicent learning about the kiss because if she does she *WILL* break down completely and daemon is already half paralyzed by weirwood drugs
At first I thought that that kiss came out of nowhere but rewatching the episode I think I see what's going on in Rhaneyra's head now. This whole episode we see her trying to "man up," as it were. She is losing hold of her power as queen. We see her slap that guy. What's his name? She picks up a sword and likely fancies herself using it. Daemon keeps being thrown in her face as if she needs a strong man's support. That kiss was like her being no, I don't need a man. She is strong enough as she is.
I agree, i think longer episodes and shorter seasons make sense. But i will say that i dont think all of these episodes have kept my attention and i dont know if the season will have a satisfying ending
This episode felt like a classic GOT episode with the brilliant slow build. It’s what season one didn’t have at all and a lot of change and shifting of positions happened in this episode. It wasn’t pointless at all. It was setting up the final two episodes. We’ll have to see!
The episode has been review bombed with 1 star rating by watchers in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. because of that one scene(you know which one). Ep 6 is actually better than ep 3 and 5.
Great reactions! It's wild that you can hear what music-score/theme is playing! Masterful plan to send food to the "small folk" during a blockade made by them/Corlys fleet. 😌 Poor Helaena did not deserve to be traumatized like that! Helaena has done nothing wrong, leave her alone or at least let her fly on her dragon! She's the only green who I don't want hurt or killed. 🥺 I think the guard who got kicked and punched to death were one of Aegon's friends. They were not ready to be guards at all. 🤦♀️ Larys and Aegon's scene was very good and made me feel sorry for them. And they are the worst people! Good job, actors and writers. Alicent's son Daeron being kind without being raised by her must have hurt her immensely to hear. It's only Helaena who isn't terrible of the siblings in King's Landing. I totally ship Rhaenyra and Mysaria!! 😍 It may lead to some betrayal in the end but I hope not. Rhaenyra has been queer coded ever since (s1, ep1) she laid on Alicent's lap and talked about them riding/flying around on her dragon and eating cake together. Remember also that Rhaenyra was thrilled to be called a "boy" when she was out in the city at night with Daemon. She's always wanted to be a man/do whatever men does without consequences. Rhaenyra and Alicent either had a short fling or Alicent was secretly crushing on Rhaenyra and got mad when she found out that Rhaenyra lied to her + slept with Criston. Why else would she be wearing "war color" green right after Criston told her what happened between him and Rhaenyra? She was pissed! And only a lover/someone who is in love with her would be that jealous/green, lol. Rhaenyra could also have had a crush on Alicent and got mad when her father chose Alicent to be his new wife without knowing about it. Alicent should have told her before that announcement. So... everything that happened could *technically* have been avoided if they could have been allowed to be a couple from the beginning... 👀 But let's be real, no. That wouldn't have been a very good or exciting show but it would have made every homophobe mad as hell as they are about the kiss in this episode. 😆 (Fanfics tho. 😏) SEASMOKE to Addam: Get on loser, we're going bonding! 🐲 Will be cool to watch Rhaenyra meeting Addam! Can't wait for the next episode! Sorry for the novel! 😱
@31:49: why? Because of the same-sex kiss… Saudi Arabia viewers hated it and last time I checked, they represented 17% of the voters. And then, because the viewership is very large and the show increasingly popular, many have with mainstream expectations: they want a fast-paced and action-packed series. Finesse and subtlety are not for them. Such a low grade is very unfair and does not do justice to the show. This episode is paving the way for the last 2, which are going to be spectacular.
🤨It's kind of ironic how a prevalent theme in HOTD is about gender roles and then people lose their minds over the kiss...what show do these people think they're watching??? the rating for this episode plummeted bc of it, and it's hard not to think it's bc of the hate towards that scene in particular
It's a weird scene that felt forced. They have a lot of other romances and relationships (even weird ones, like Larys and his feet fetish) and felt better depicted (including the weirdness). There are a lot of other moments in the show people complain about being weird or bad written, as there are a lot of queer/gay moments and characters when people didn't have any problem. For me, the problem is that it seems it's OK to complain about anything except for something LGTB related... if you have a problem with that, then you are against all LGTB...
You know damn well people are not review bombing it 1 star out of TEN because the scene felt out of place. It's pure homophobia and misoginy @@sefirotsgame
rhaenyra and alicent, two of the main characters, have their entire story hinged on the regimes of womanhood, patriarchy, heterosexuality... Ofc theres no legitimate argument to complain about this so far these people are just angry.
Ratings maybe plummeting cause of review bombing due to homophobia. But that scene was certainly bad plot wise... And the leaks suggest even worse stuff happening... fans outside the homophobes are also upset
Theres honestly so much to say about rhaenyra this episode.... The way a part of her we haven't seen since the young rhaenicent scenes in s1 came out when mysaria validated her taking up the sword, the imagery of knighthood. Her awkwardness and regressing into her teenage self and then the surge of confidence (recklessness?) that followed the kiss.... It makes the mirrored knife wound on alicents arm all the more prescient
Random complaint that bugged me, but otherwise great HoTD episode in my opinion: slitting your own throat is such a slow way to die, it probably didn’t stop any of the pain. Stabbing the heart is hard, but I mean, the scene kinda implies they’re trained to kill themselves in that situation. You’d think they choose an effective way.

its like the fourth lowest out of game of thrones and house of the dragon (obvs GOT is season 8 where the ratings drop) but there are certain countries who are dive bombing the reviews (so for example Saudi Arabia is like going for a 1/10 because of some things that happened which are not approved of in their country so that'll be part of it)

Still enjoying the show, I especially like the parallels between Rhaenyra and Daemon. The last 2 episodes will clear up everything. Mark my words, I believe a reconciliation is coming between Rhaenyra and Daemon, among other shocking things.
On that 6.1 rating on imdb 37% gave the episode a 1 out of ten which is ridiculous. Even if you didn't like it it can't be worth just 1...these people are bringing the overall episode rating down
Without spoiling anything, how would Adam be a dragon rider? If his father is Corlys (who is Velaryon, which are not dragon riders) I guess it would be up to whoever his mother is? Maybe she has some Targaryen in her? Cause it’s not Rhaenys.
Similar to Rhaeynra's logic with Ser Steffon, the Velaryon's have intermarried with Targaryens in the past. Corlys isn't a Targaryen, but he definitely has a drop or two of Targaryen blood.
@@mizzike13 I guess that makes sense, I love the GOT world but damn it confuses me. I was also confused when we were first introduced to the bastard brothers cause Corlys didn't really seem like the type to have bastards but I guess not, maybe from before Rhaenys (Idk how long they've been married)
After The Last of Us episode 3 and this episode i think that it's clear how fucking homophobic people can be. Both episodes were fantastic and these assholes just spread hate. It's so sad that it will now remain with that score staining the overall score of the show. This episode was honestly my second favourite of the season, i think people just want action and battles and forget what makes this universe so good is the development of characters mainly through conversations. It has been slow but it doesnt mean its not worth watching, people are too dramatic. And we did see what happens when you have heavy action with no deveopment, just watch the last few GoT seasons. The kissing scene was not in the book but i would judge it based on if it is actually relevant to these characters, not by the fact they are both girls. (and honestly fuck me, we had Yara Greyjoy and Ellaria Sand nearly fucking in GoT why do they get triggered by this...)
@@KelliFranklin Again - read what most of the naysayers who criticised the scene have actually said. Granted, there's a few idiots out there who have an attitude problem. But for most, it's just about the fact that the scene / story was flawed overall.
@@johnmorris1009 I understand where you're coming from. I don't read critic's reviews or even just everyday folks that watch it or have read the books' reviews or opinions on this or any show or movie. From what I've read in the comments on quite a few channels some people are claiming that the kiss was forced and did nothing to enhance or further the storyline but I don't agree with that. Since episode 2 I've felt the chemistry between the 2 characters and I felt it was a natural occurrence. Rhaenyra has had nothing but people questioning her and second guessing her and in her ear constantly about Daemon and so on. Mysaria provided her with understanding, compassion and built up her deflating will to win the war. They needed each other in that moment and it gave Rhaenyra the boost she needed to get on her dragon instead of sending someone else. People have been calling her a cheater and a whore for that moment too. Not only is homophobia at work hypocrisy and misogynist comments are plenty too. All of this is just my opinion of course but I'm tired of double standards and hate just for the sake of hating. And that's the end of my Ted talk. Lol I'm sorry I went on for so long. Lol
@@KelliFranklin For me, it was also the fact that the last couple of episodes seem to have been following the suppressed women narrative that was thr most jarring thing. Rhaenyra has been speaking different variations of the same lines for some time now. We get the message - the men don't trust a woman to lead as much as they would a man, and they prefer to be the ones to make plans etc. Then mysaria compounds that by being given a "father rape" back story. As a man watching that, it felt a bit like "what are you trying to say about us?" Kind of thing. Then the kiss came, which then made it feel like it was a scene made for those who aren't a straight man (coming as it did after mysaria's back story). I'm not really against the idea of the kiss, as long as the writers have a good idea for how it'll improve the plot. Although I dislike the lines that came before it, and the fact that Emma Darcy and not the writers seemed to decide the storyline.
I don't think low rating is about pacing, it's mostly about forced interactions, deviations and relatively poorly written scenes with respect to the rest of the show. Examples: seasmoke scenes, rhaenyra v mysaria scene.
It’s not fair to call Alicent not a good mother considering she was a teen mom basically and had all these kids really young before she was ready while Viserys completely ignored his kids other than Rhaenyra. Everyone hates on Alicent but forgets that Viserys loved Rhaenyra but never really bonded with his other kids due to the pain he felt from the loss of his first wife
Most women in this world were getting married at 15-16 years old, just like Alicent. That is zero excuse for the shitty mother that she is. It's not the same as modern times.
33:02 I agree about the rating! I don't trust Imdb ratings because they're fan voted on, not like rotten tomatoes, which is critics. To each their own, but I thought a LOT, plot-wise hpened. Just not more dragon war, which is what everyone wants.

What are you talking about? Gwayne is becoming a fan favorite, Otto has officially won over a lot of people, Larys earned a ton of peoples respect, and everyone loves Halaena. Stop trippin. The book isn’t even a book, it’s a wiki history written from the POV of characters who weren’t there
Apart from the kiss what else do you think are issues in the episode. I find that most people that say that is clouded by the kiss. This episode has some of the best scenes in the show.
The rate is bad not because if that lesbian kiss, we also had a gay couple in season 1 and no one cared about that. The problem is that people are tired. It's just the same things every episode and it's just keep repeating itself. There's nothing interesting. The only thing keep me awake during this show are team green scenes, which aren't much.

And on top of the Tully's named after the Muppets, Let's not forget Grover Tully named after Grover who is also from Sesame Street like Elmo
@anggi8699 plus in the books it is a different perspective so obviously there would be some changes too the story.

Most if Helena wired bug related dialog usually ends up happening with the characters. She predicted both Ameond losing his eye, and Agon not being able to walk, which makes her a seer, which is a change from the books.
“This one stopped singing” maybe someone loses their voice/tongue or gets their throat cut 👀 but I also wonder if the three bugs represent any 3 specific characters or not
Daemon wouldn't give af bout that kiss lol
I saw an interview with Ewan Mitchell who plays Aemond and he said he has a theme now. It played when he was looking at the throne.
Everyone in the castle can see Alys, but they never look her in the eye or talk to her because they are all afraid of her. She pretty much owns Harrenhal Castle.
And she definitely made Larys his "clubfoot"
@@manvirshergill1739 you dont know that
@@rexibhazoboa7097 it's hinted when Larys told his story to Aegon.
Its their jobs to adapt it. No one cares that it's hard. I didn't find this episode bad like other did but the show could still be better.
That isn’t my point. My point is the show is ass cause the book is ass. You adapt a trash book, you’ll get a trash show.
@@trymex9168 Book is not trash. It s fictional chronicle. That you preffer novels doesn't make it 'trash'. As for show - it is good in its own right, though is not always accurate adaptation. Alyn was teenager and was turned into 30 year old glumpy guy.
@@trymex9168 Then why the f--k are you watching??
I love how Seasmoke was not going to be claimed. He went out after another failed attempt to be claimed. He hunted Addam down and he claimed his rider. The best part of this whole episode! Addam's blood probably smells just like Laenor's blood.
the thing to remember is: killing Aemond would mean losing control of Vhagar. And losing Vhagar would probably equal losing the war.
I enjoy ever episode too. This show is my favorite show right now. People are picked because of the books
(Dorne and the Martells are not under the Iron Throne's control yet).
i like to think the crickets represent the three green brothers in kings landing, maybe even alicent. could mean anything but i do have my theories.
Yes, he said that word for word but he said it in a very different way so I'm pretty sure that was a whole new scene and audio
Paddy came back it is on his insta
The scene is completely different. Lighting is different, the guards are gone, the angle its shot at is flipped (paddy is on the left now and Matt on the right)
Yep. "To celebrate your own rise" immediately stood out to me as being different from the other episode. He gets louder towards the end then.
@@taneshah.1260 He litteraly has it on Instagram ofc he came back, those were new scenes entirely, only the first one had the same dialogue
Honestly daemon learning about the kiss is way less scary than alicent learning about the kiss because if she does she *WILL* break down completely and daemon is already half paralyzed by weirwood drugs
You’re gonna see later, the kiss was insignificant.
Sir Steffon had the wrong playlist , if he had played Enigma Greatess Hits Silverwings would have answered and he would be a dragon rider.
Aemond is regent(he's basically king)long as aegon out of commission
I agree, i think longer episodes and shorter seasons make sense. But i will say that i dont think all of these episodes have kept my attention and i dont know if the season will have a satisfying ending
Apparently in those days children like Daeron were sent away to live with rich families so alliances could be made.
Apparently a lot of Saudi and middle eastern reviews plummeted the score from the lesbian kiss shown.
stopped singing, is dark land scene. they were singing and then were not as he was claiming the dragon.
I honestly don't get people. First they hated how fast season 7 & 8 of G.O.T. was, now they're hating that H.O.T.D. is "slow." 🙄
No reaction for describing daeron? He is the greens GOAT. Rhaegar vibes
If they kill Aemond they loose Vhaghar
Yes true.
i do like the longer episodes and shorter season dynamic as well. theres more chances to get a much more of a rich story
Great reactions! It's wild that you can hear what music-score/theme is playing!
Masterful plan to send food to the "small folk" during a blockade made by them/Corlys fleet. 😌
Poor Helaena did not deserve to be traumatized like that! Helaena has done nothing wrong, leave her alone or at least let her fly on her dragon! She's the only green who I don't want hurt or killed. 🥺
I think the guard who got kicked and punched to death were one of Aegon's friends. They were not ready to be guards at all. 🤦♀️
Larys and Aegon's scene was very good and made me feel sorry for them.
(Fanfics tho. 😏)
SEASMOKE to Addam: Get on loser, we're going bonding! 🐲
Will be cool to watch Rhaenyra meeting Addam! Can't wait for the next episode!
Sorry for the novel! 😱
1.41 Rains of castmere theme ❤️
@@Scott-yy lol shut up
rhaenyra and alicent, two of the main characters, have their entire story hinged on the regimes of womanhood, patriarchy, heterosexuality... Ofc theres no legitimate argument to complain about this so far these people are just angry.
Ratings maybe plummeting cause of review bombing due to homophobia. But that scene was certainly bad plot wise... And the leaks suggest even worse stuff happening... fans outside the homophobes are also upset
The episode was review bombed bc of the rhaenyra and mysaria kiss
Theres honestly so much to say about rhaenyra this episode.... The way a part of her we haven't seen since the young rhaenicent scenes in s1 came out when mysaria validated her taking up the sword, the imagery of knighthood. Her awkwardness and regressing into her teenage self and then the surge of confidence (recklessness?) that followed the kiss.... It makes the mirrored knife wound on alicents arm all the more prescient
And having Alicent do her hair like her teen self did.
Rhaenyra is starving a million people right now, good person?
1:35 while you are right it shouldnt be here because the theme was made for tywins deeds
Characters are not playing it, so it can be there.
People review bombed it because of the kiss between Rhaenyra and Mysaria
Sir Steffen was Targaryen TOAST CRUNCH from JUMP! Sorry Sir Steffen!!! 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
DRACARYSSSSS 🔥🔥🔥 💀💀💀
That kiss was a manipulative move, she’s doing to Rhaenyra what Alys is doing to Daemon, only difference is the visions.
Thank u for us imdb check i always do that aswell and i was gaaged i thought it was a great episode and as a book fan i have to say its kinda crazy how many people are bored by this i think its so far actually better than the book part and so far i like s2 more than GOT 5-8 😂😅😢
For what I see this season will end with Daemon getting Rhaenrya the army she desperately needs since all she been doing is being a pacifist that got Rhaenys killed, and Aemond losing his shit burning the riverlands starting a real chaos setting the stage for Aemon and Daemon final confrontation for the third season.
its like the fourth lowest out of game of thrones and house of the dragon (obvs GOT is season 8 where the ratings drop) but there are certain countries who are dive bombing the reviews (so for example Saudi Arabia is like going for a 1/10 because of some things that happened which are not approved of in their country so that'll be part of it)
the problem w/ the harrenhal plot is that fans are clearly over it at this point that no one really cared viserys came back 😂😭
Strong disagree with that one
Yeah i ageee with you. He spends a year at harrenhal in the books, this storyline makes sense. @LooferMoofer
Ok. Then what would daemon do. He sitting harrenhall for a long time in this war. Thats what we seeing in the show. Its not the writers fault. Daemon has less role in the first half of the war
@@AR-jp4qw If someone is needed less frequently on screen then the obvious solution would be to reduce their screen time. What they should've done is make the visions more entertaining to watch.

Isn’t the fanbase predominantly male? Don’t guys like watching lesbians? I’m genuinely surprised that guys aren’t THRILLED by that scene. I guess it’s a culture shift or something, I don’t know.
I think the rating of the series has to do with book changes on the characters, the pacing does not bother me. But the story in the book is more neutral, anyway, that's just my opinion
well ep 6 has been review bombed by Middle Easterns
Exactly and Rhaenyra is rumored to be bi in the books.
Thank GOD for you very low expectations.
The writing here is equal to my high school creative writing class.

Lol
I'm sorry I went on for so long.
You look like Jerma a lot
First! JK. I hate when people do that. Like, so what? LOL
33:02 I agree about the rating! I don't trust Imdb ratings because they're fan voted on, not like rotten tomatoes, which is critics. To each their own, but I thought a LOT, plot-wise hpened. Just not more dragon war, which is what everyone wants.
The episode was great. It's being review bombed by homophobes and racists 💀 Also the annoying people still complaining the show is "boring" because there isn't a dragon battle every other scene should just go watch a brainless action movie and leave this universe for the adults who enjoy grown-up fantasy with political intrigue, story development and character arcs 🙃

The show should have been accurate to the books but instead the whitewash Team Black and villianize the greens at every turn
I feel like they’ve made TG a lot easier to sympathize with than in the books. And if you don’t like the show simply don’t watch 🤷♀️
Exactly
What are you talking about? They are starting to put the seeds to darken/madden Rhaenyra this episode and they’ve been making Aegon, Alicent, and even Aemond very relatable and 3-dimensional characters. Gwayne is becoming a fan favorite, Otto has officially won over a lot of people, Larys earned a ton of peoples respect, and everyone loves Halaena. Stop trippin. The book isn’t even a book, it’s a wiki history written from the POV of characters who weren’t there
Uhhhhhh… how are they whitewashing team black when they legit are doing the exact opposite? Have you even read the books?
Huh?
31:50 come on we all know its the forced kiss! and it was clearly the weakest episode of the show. I would have give 6.7 or 6.8 at best
