The rider has the same father as Queen Rhaenyra's previous husband, Laenor Velaryon, kinda looks like him, has the same adventurous spirit. The dragon, Seasmoke, has been missing Laenor for a long time, the dragon flew by and was like "Is that you?" His name is "Addam of Hull"
Too old to be Laenors. It’s made clear by Rhaenys’ reaction, and later on the interaction between the brothers, that they’re the bastards of the Seasnake. Even in the books, it was suggested that they were claimed as Laenors to make them legitimate but were actually the Seasnakes kids.
It seems logical that Seasmoke would choose Addam as rider since he'll need a brother to ride or die, not Ser Darklyn - No offence, but he is no brother 😅 Also he must feel that this is the half brother of Leanor so it'll feel familiar to him.
Seasmoke gave dude a chance because he really wanted a rider like Rhaynera said. But dude was too hesistant and fearful, even when he thought he'd done it, he said it with trepidation. Seasmoke then said fuck it. Imma go get Addam, he's related to my old rider, thats good enough.
I believe Sir Steffon got cooked because apart from showing fear he was also speaking the common language, Seasmoke clocked that and said "a nobody trying to claim me? wait a minute... 🔥🔥🔥" and then he went looking for Addam like "y'all are out here trying too much meanwhile that's a legit Velaryon mf walking around, I'm going to do this myself bye" HAHAHAHAHA
I feel the Dragon would have burned him sooner if not for the "Handler" behind him. I believe she was the only thing keeping SeaSmoke tame for the moment.

I think the dragons sense when someone isn't humble about obtaining a dragon. Rheana wants a dragon so bad just to have one. That's probably why the dragons won't accept her. It makes so much sense now why Mysaria was NOT with the shits in season 1 when Daemon lied and said she was pregnant. It was deeper than just a lie, but also severely triggering for her as we realize now why she can't bear children.

I love that Seasmoke was offended that they'd try to put some thin-blooded white boy on him and I think he also realized shit must be getting real if Rhaenyra is trying to find riders. He said "Oh okay but Imma find my own ride-or-die. I know just the dude." And he pulled up on Milli Valerylli singing at him like, "You wanna wreck stuff? 🎶Boy you know it's true. Ooh ooh ooh I want you.🎶"
Aemond trying to say Larys devotion to his family is in doubt because of what he did to his brother and father when him betraying his family is the reason Otto became hand again plus Larys became the Lord of Harrenhall and inherited all the riches while Aemond tried to kill Aegon and couldn't finish the job and only gained a temporary position. I'm glad Alyss broke Daemon down because he needed to understand that he can't do this without Rhaenyra just like she needs to understand she can't win without him. The white worm's idea of sending the food was the chess move that Rhaenyra needed because she lost the people when the little boy got his head cutt off. Seasmoke was the mvp of the episode. Loved the reaction by the way.
Meagor the Cruel, Rhaenys's (father? Uncle?) was killed by the Iron Throne itself. On the tapestry in the opening credits you see a king sitting on the throne bleeding? That was Maegor the Cruel.
Seasmoke would not bond with Sir Steffon because his Targaryen blood line was to weak. Rhaenyra said that his grandmothers grandmother was a Targaryen.
I personally think the dragon would've allowed him but I don't think Seasmoke liked it when he said "I did it"...Steffon also never grew up thinking he was "blood of the dragon." If you grow up thinking it's your right to claim a dragon, you're probably less afraid. Steffon grew up thinking the dragons are Gods so he was more afraid and I think the dragon can sense that.
