    With so many requests and a resurgence of interest Boiga cynodon, we decided to give you all a Masterclass video. With so many new color phases, morphs and localities, this species has gotten a lot of attention as of late. While this Boiga species is not so much different from the others in the genus, it still warrants its own video due to a handful of differences that make it unique. We have quite the group of these colourful snakes in our Malaysia facility. Thanks for watching!!!

    I love boiga. One of my favourite genus of snakes. That is 100% down to you Dan. Had never paid them much attention until I started watching this channel.
    Not one other person influenced me on this genus. You single handedly piqued my interest in boiga and that is one of the things I love about this channel. The amount of snake species I never heard of that watching this channel put me on to that became species I love is crazy so thanks to both Apple and yourself for that.

    It was a very educational video. I am in to cateyesnakes and I really like it. I just got one from BHB mangrove which captive bred male so hopefully I can get a captive bred female from you and go to see what we can do. All right thank you. tell Apple I said hi

    I'm so happy you got to do this video! Boiga is just my current obsession, and what you've touched basis on really gave me a different outlook on captive husbandry. Some challenges on my end are occasional stuck sheds. I've been soaking weekly and changed my set up to where I'm keeping damp moss under my hides. My boiga nigriceps I got from you two summers ago are exceptional. Male switched from feeder anoles to Quail. Female is more of a challenge, I have been assisting in feeding. I had one case with my female Boiga dendrophila of regurge as well as a small tail amputation due to the stuck shed turned necrotic. I didn't catch in time, but recovery time has been great. When it comes to working with imports and treating for parasites or other illnesses, what is your approach? Are medicinal practices entirely different from where your located compared to the states?

      There's stuff you can get legally for parasites

      I’ve experienced stuck sheds also- I started employing fogging in the evenings, live plants and for my adults, a large water container with a submersible aquarium pump/filter that keeps the water moving. I think they are more stimulated to drink the moving water vs stagnant water. Hope this helps!

      Getting your humidity up will solve the shedding issues. In CA, I leave near the coast so our air is not super dry like inland but I still must spray on a regular basis and using substrate that you can dampen will help. In Malaysia, we only use AC for cooling and no need for any heat. That tends to dry out the air also so we use manual and automated misting depending. We treat everything on arrival for mites for external parasites. For internal, we use panacur and flagyl. Panacur does not require s prescription and you can get it online. Flagyl is only by prescription but is over the counter in just about every other country...you can get it from your vet. Each compound treats a different class of parasite but is broad spectrum so if you suspect you have something going on, this will usually take care of it.

      @DMExotics I was just curious about learning medicinal practices and treatments when working reptiles in general. What would be good medication recommended on treating parasites, R.I., or other illnesses that can be due to lack of proper captive husbandry or dietary. Where I'm located, veterinary practices are very limited when it comes treating Exotics. I was curious about when you're out of the states what your methods of treating are compared to what is done in the states since medicines vary based on location.

    Great video.
    What 's their typical feeding interval ?

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  Місяць тому

      I do weekly just like almost all other Boiga but I may feed slightly more often with smaller meals if I want to increase the weight of an animal.

    Great video my question is the green snakes that you find in your yard and release do they always stay green

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  Місяць тому

      Green is the normal color. Some can be more vivid green and others more silver green. As with all green snakes, there may be an individual that displays blue but excessive lighting can also turn green snakes blue so sometimes you have to be careful as a buyer.

    Thanks for the evening misting tip!😉 Do they experience fog/mist in their natural range?

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  Місяць тому +1

      Probably not fog but they will experience an increase in humidity when it rains.

    what does 2.2 or 1.3 mean in terms of the amount of snakes you have?

    • @terryburwell8241
      @terryburwell8241 Місяць тому +1

      Male.Female
      The first number is the males the second the females. So a pair is 1.1 and a male and 2 females is 1.2
