Girl! You did your thing!!!! Currently not trying to pay an absurd amount of $$ for a small kitchen reno. Thank you so much! God bless and I look forward to seeing more of your DIY content for home makeovers.
Very inspiring! I have a hard time finding a handyman to do my backsplash and I think you just convinced me I can do this myself!🤩 Thank you for sharing ❤
Wow you just gave me the courage to do my back splash in my kitchen myself. Thank you so much this was very informative and direct from tools tools to the process thank you .
You did such an awesome job! I love the organic look of the tile...so much better than just flat tile. You've given me the courage and inspiration to do my own backsplash. Job well done!
keren cho Aw thank you so much Keren! I really appreciate that, hopefully the people interested in the type of content I put out will find it 😊 thanks for the lovely comment!
Really nice video, came out really nice. Only one thing to anyone watching the vid, hey if u are mixing with a drill make sure is powerful enough because I burned out 2. Nice video this one.
Just found your channel. What a great job! Before you started did you read up, looked at UA-cam videos or anything to prepare yourself? About wall prep, is it ok if paint is on wall and wash wall first? Getting brave! Thanks. Great job! 👍🏻👏🏻🌷
Thank you so much!! I watched a few UA-cam videos prior to starting this backsplash, yes. My favorite is Jeff from Home Renovision, he has the best walk throughs and really gave me the confidence to do this myself. I went right over the paint on my walls, but I did give them a wipe down just to remove any dirt prior to putting the adhesive on. Best of luck with your backsplash, be brave and give it a try, it’s very rewarding when it’s all finished 😊
Yes we did! I will be showing how we did that in the final video for the kitchen transformation. Thankfully my brother works in HVAC so he's very handy for jobs like this but he showed me how :)
All in with supplies included it was right around $550, I had to buy more tile cause I ran out so I paid freight twice which shouldn’t happen 😂 so not bad! The labor would have been over $1000 so I made out pretty well
Kim Morgan it’s from Home Depot! www.homedepot.com/p/Ivy-Hill-Tile-Catalina-White-3-in-x-6-in-x-8-mm-Polished-Ceramic-Subway-Wall-Tile-5-38-sq-ft-case-EXT3RD101710/206496896
It looks like you left a tiny gap between worktop and first row of tiles? I have a similar (smaller) tiling job to do, and wasn't sure whether to just place the tiles up against the work surface.
is it possible to do this project without removing the hood range? our house is complete and i just want to add the backsplash to areas that need it. TIA!
I found that it was near impossible to tile behind the range hood and not get grout on the hood itself or inaccurate cuts by leaving it up so we took it down!
@@kelly_mcgrath thank you for the reply! i should've worded my question better. I wasn't planning on tiling behind the hood range at all because I'm lazy and I just want to tile what is seen. Is that okay to do? Thank you!
I picked up tile snippets and a tile cutter at Lowe’s, it cost me about $25 for both items! Very reasonable. For kitchens that have a lot of tricky areas I would have likely needed to rent a wet saw from them as well. Hope this helps!
@@KM-cq7fy I drained it into my backyard in an area far from any of our plants or grass etc, which was mostly gravel. I definitely did not rinse anything in the sink to avoid any damage to our pipes
Love this, makes me think I could actually do it in my kitchen. 2 questions: how did you hang your range hood over the tile? And why, please share, I'm so curious, do ;you have a small saggy butt tattoo on your left wrist? Thanks!!!
It’s a number 3 written in my grandmothers handwriting haha, definitely not a saggy butt. I pre-drilled the holes for the range and hung it up before tiling to confirm the location, then tiled and rehung with longer screws after the tile was completed. That way the tile was seamless all the way up the wall
Hi Johny! I mixed the grout which comes in a powder with the amount of water suggested on the bag and that is what was used between the tiles. The caulking was used just between the bottom row of tiles and the counter top to seal it. I hope that helps!
Oh it’s definitely not an organic tile, but the description of the product is organic because the edges are meant to mimic the irregular nature of hand made tiles. Don’t have the money for the real thing 😂
Kelly, your demeanor is so calm and gentle. That's beautiful. Thanks for the tutorial
What a lovey compliment Toni, thank you so much!! 🥹 I’m happy you enjoyed the tutorial, I hope it can be helpful for you!!
So humble. Amazing job. I'm away to try doing mine after this.

Great job. I’d like to have seen the cutting of the tiles around outlets and odd spaces.
Beautiful, I love tile backsplash in wet areas and kitchens. Looks so clean and fresh
Very inspiring! I have a hard time finding a handyman to do my backsplash and I think you just convinced me I can do this myself!🤩
Thank you for sharing ❤
Beautiful job done by a beautiful lady! Thanks for sharing. Such a soothing voice you have! 😊
The “mistakes” you made were not just a learning opportunity. Embrace them because they only add to the “organic” look you wanted.
Just doing mine now Kelly. Nice Job.

Amazing job girlie. Thanks for inspiring me to do mine now.

Excellent job young lady! I've done DYI remodeling for over 20 years at my house on my rental properties. Great job and keep up the great work!
Excellent Job!! The first time I seen a counter and wall be level and plumb!!
Thank you very much for this instructive video. Have a great day.
Great job and thank you for the wonderful instructions!

Bravo-Outstanding work and organic tile look you have created. You saved a bundle opposed to having a crew. Good Luck on the next job! Peace!😀
Amazing work Kelly! It looks beautiful
Amazing job
I will do the same thing this weekend! Thanks for your video.
It looks beautiful. My sister and I are going to try and achieve this today in my kitchen! Thank you!
Best of luck to you! I hope it turned out well 😊
Amazing job! I'm starting my first backsplash project and this makes me feel so much more confident. 👍🏽
Love this... you made this so simple and motivated to do. Thank
Great job! You're hired
Great job, I am going to attempt to do mine soon.
Truly Outstanding-Thank you!
Great job beside from being hermosisima
Some say to use a sanding tool to make the cuts smoother.
This turned out absolutely beautiful!!!! Looking to do my own kitchen backsplash as well, great job girl! Definitely following your tutorial!
This is GORGEOUS! I definitely want to try and do this myself now!
Definitely give it a go! Intimidating at first, but the reward of walking into it every day and knowing I DID THAT makes it so worth it 😊 🙌🏼
@@kelly_mcgrath Very well said! I know that feeling indeed.
Nice work!

Nice video this one.
This is so impressive and satisfying to watch! Makes me motivated to save $ and do some renovations myself 😊
Good job!
beautiful job!

Beautiful! 🙌🏽
As always great and perfect😁💯👍 Thank you for sharing dear friend
Made By Junk thank you so much for your support!! 😊
You made it look really easy! Was it really that easy?!?
It was very time consuming and the leaning over the counter was hard on my back, but it was far easier than I had anticipated!!
Great job.
Looks great!
Your kitchen is amazing and your video was so helpful. 😀Could u tell me what type of tile you used for this video and where you got it from?
Super helpful! Thank you!!

How did you plan the patter when you started? and did you get by not using a tile saw? Amazing!
Awesome job!
Thanks so much for watching!! 🤗
Wow 🤩
I love this, how much did you end up spending on the tiles
Thanks! It ended up being around 300 cause I had to order an extra box
Your a brave soul using that brand of grout
Nice job!
Thanks so much for watching!
Did you rent the tile cutter? It seems like such an obscure tool to own outright. I’m not sure I’d use it again after doing my kitchen.
I did end up buying it, it was only $25 at Home Depot and the tile snippers were $12 so it wasn’t a huge expense!
Do you have any videos cutting the tiles?
I love it. Did you do you own hood vent too? If so do you have a tuto9on how to do it
Yes we did! I will be showing how we did that in the final video for the kitchen transformation. Thankfully my brother works in HVAC so he's very handy for jobs like this but he showed me how :)
Looks amazing!!! Would like to try this myself. If you don’t mind, how much did this cost you?

Hi i have questions your original walls they was dry walls ?
It looks like you left a tiny gap between worktop and first row of tiles? I have a similar (smaller) tiling job to do, and wasn't sure whether to just place the tiles up against the work surface.
Great job 👏 Total cost of the project?
Just under 10k! Largest cost being counter tops and appliances
So beautiful! I tried looking in the description, but what website did you get the tile ?
Oh shoot I’ll have to fix the links, but this tile was from Home Depot! It’s called the Ivy Hill Catalina White Subway Tile 😊
I know this video is old but i think your kitchen would really stand out if you paint your kitchen shelf white
Sadly we sold the house after this renovation, it was meant to help upstate it prior to selling!
@@kelly_mcgrath congrats on selling your home . I'm actually doing the same to up the value of my home before selling
I’m assuming you put up some kind of backer board?
How did you measure for the odd shapes around the window?
How long did you let the tile dry before putting on the grout?
I let it dry overnight, I’d say about 10-12 hours or so!
Did you end up using the tile snippet at any point?
Hi where did you get that tile cutter?
@@Littlefrogintheocean I grabbed it at Lowe’s actually!
Sometimes the flaws appear because the tiles are flawed - you can't help that. Very Nice look overall.
Thank you for this! You made it look so easy!
Also your links aren’t working :(

It was called Light Grey, nice and simple 😊
So where to you dump your grout water?
Do you know how to dispose the grout water if we don't want to clog our pipes?
@@KM-cq7fy I drained it into my backyard in an area far from any of our plants or grass etc, which was mostly gravel. I definitely did not rinse anything in the sink to avoid any damage to our pipes

Did you center behind the sink?
Thankfully the way the tiles laid out it was centered behind the sink, yes! I laid them all out beforehand to make sure they would :)
👍👍🇬🇧
organic, hahaha!

Lost me after watching all the tools and materials I'd need. Yikes. This is a bigger job than I can do 😥 But great instructions for those who can.
Looks cheap
Thanks 😂
