Just lovely isn't she..I remember her in The Green Wing as the mother trying to juggle work and kids and driving off with her bag on the roof of the car in one scene. She's just so good at the funny and absurd, she's wonderful and so genuine. Love her to bits.

She's the real deal. No one expected her to win so I believe her when she says her speech was unprepared. She is genuinely humble and hilarious. She deserved it.
I think many (myself included) expected her to win, she was bloody amazing in the role. But surely she didn't expect it herself, love that. Even said in her speech "this won't happen again", lol
Don't say nobody, I know people were betting on Glenn Close, she was phenomenal, but Olivia Colman was spectacular. She shined in every frame, and her elastic face which is so skilled at changing emotions in a heartbeat, I know many like me might have pinned for her from the beginning.
she did win the GG and BAFTA for best actress so I think it's going too far to say nobody expected it.
it's just Olivia herself is such a humble person so it came as a surprise to her.

Most great comedy come from improv and such a real and hilarious speech just couldn't be scripted. I could feel that she was just saying things in the moment, love her! ❤

Agreed. I never watch because of the phoney balonies like Julia Roberts. Olivia Colman is the real deal. I've seen her in loads of things and think she's wonderful. Her acceptance speech and her demeanor at this press forum show just what a genuine, lovely person she is.

You could do a lot worse then start with Peep Show, a Brit channel 4 sitcom which ran for 9 years, she plays a somewhat pitiful, un-likable, needy, looney, love interest to the main character with hilarity throughout in no small part to Oliva's contribution.

Confetti - not the best of her filmography but I found it funny (when I watched it when I was like 14) and she plays a naturist 😂

I love how down-to-earth and naturally funny she is, it doesn't sound like a celebrity is talking, it sounds like a woman from down the road is speaking. A very lovely and charming one, for that matter.

Folk who are used to the oft times 'self-congratulatory brashness' of American stars don't seem to realise that Olivia, although particularly lovely and talented, is really just being British..we are generally a humble lot who just can't take ourselves and events like this seriously, hence the success of Ricky Gervais' presenting style etc...look up actresses like Belinda Blethyn, Joanna Lumley, Miriam Margolyes and of course the delightful Emma Thompson, also music stars such as Adele and Paloma Faith for more evidence of how we just 'are'...fabulous win for her of course, so well deserved.

She's probably the only celebrity who doesn't sound like a celebrity talking! like at all. So, genuine and natural! I'll be honest, I've never seen an actor or a celebrity as genuine, and natural as her. Period.
All of Britain is saying 'FINALLY!' We all knew it was a question of when not if. When you see that Olivia Coleman is in it then you know it's going to be quality. Stage, film, TV- she's brilliant.

+Aoife D They did do a film together! Not a live action one, sadly, but if you're interested, you might want to check it out - they did the British dub of Studio Ghibli's 'Arrietty' (aka The Borrowers), which also starred Tom Holland years before he got Spider Man.
