I had to check the title a few times to make sure the title matches the video. Your Green yard looks absolutely calming and inviting, opposing the harsh sun scorched earth we typically deal with here in the Valley. Q1: What part of the valley are you in? Q2: Are Scorpions attracted to your added moisture and mulch? You gave me great ideas for using mulch! thank you. new sub here

Hi Taj, thank you for watching and subscribing! I appreciate the kind words about The Green Yard. It's amazing what you can do with a little shade, mulch, sulfur and water. Those are great questions, we're located in central Phoenix, a few miles from downtown. I have not had any issues with scorpions, in fact, we haven't had any since we've lived at The Green Yard. I will say though that there are lots of other bugs who are all very important to the decomposition process of the mulch and we invite them with open arms. Typically I will see, pill bugs, millipedes, centipedes, orb weaver spiders and sometimes German cockroaches. They all stay outside though (because the mulch is their perfect environment) and we never have any in our house (why would they leave their paradise). Let me know if you have other questions! Good luck with your mulch ideas!

Plumeria is one of those trees that seem to struggle in the ground here in Phoenix. How is yours doing? What is your plan to cold protect this winter and at what temp will you start protecting it?

Hi Junior, thank you for commenting! So far mine are doing great, even with the lower temperatures we've been having. I am going to use frost protection and an alternative heat source this year since it is their first year in the ground and they are younger trees. I should have started protecting it when the night temps were consistently below 50 degrees. I haven't protected them yet though and we are in the mid to low 40's and they seem to be doing fine. Let me know if you have any other questions and thank you for watching!

Is your sour dip in ground? If so, how is it doing to this this day?

Hello, thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, my soursop is in ground and really thriving right now. I will have to do an update video my soursop tree here in the next few months. I’ll include what I’ve done so far to help it thrive. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I’m afraid to put mine in ground here. Lol. I have it in a big pot. Inside house now. Love to see an update video. 😃 thanks

I completely understand that fear! I have already killed a Soursop here in Phoenix but I had it in a pot so I decided to put this one in the ground and I'm having a lot of success with it now. I will be doing an update later this fall so keep an eye out for it. Let me know if you have any questions too.

@@thegreenyardaz I bought one online from a nursery in Florida. It was a big one already. I have it in a 15 gallon pot right now it’s doing OK. I have it inside the house next to a window usually bring it to the greenhouse during the winter time, as my greenhouse is heated. I’ve always had better luck planting everything in the ground in Phoenix. I didn’t want to risk anything with the soursop tree. I paid a lot of money for it. How do you handle the winter?

Oh nice, yes a 15 gallon would definitely be a big tree already. I'm glad it's doing okay. Mine struggled a little with the extreme heat that we had this summer and got a little sunburnt but it's putting out a lot of new growth now. That is so awesome that you have a heated greenhouse. I'm hoping to add something like that to The Green Yard someday. It makes sense not wanting to risk it with an expensive tree. I planted it in a spot that gets sun all afternoon in the winter (because the mulberry tree looses it leaves) so it gets sun there. I also make a frost fabric structure and then provide supplemental heat in the form of incandescent Christmas lights (C7's or C9's). It did really well last winter but when I uncovered it in the beginning of April (when it was over 50 degrees for a low) the tree lost it's leaves before putting out new growth. It seemed almost like it wanted to get some cold to drop it's leaves and put out new ones.
