I had an xt 660 on these tyres, very good tyres, no issues. Also had a 600 fazer on Bridgestones which were terrifying in the wet, put me off Bridgestones for life. You can't go wrong on Melzeler.
Great scenery Toby. I had Anakees on my ordinary GS and they were very noisy; swapped them for Pirelli Scorpion Trail IIs and the noise disappeared. Currently enjoying my new Metzelers and concur your comments. Enjoy the trip and stay safe. Cheers, Andy
+Andrew Tofts thanks for the kind words matey. They are very good tyres. Roads here are fab. In Granada at the mo and will be heading back through the picos soon. Happy days :)
I bought a new 1200GS in October '18 which came fitted with Tourance Next. I do a bit of light offroading (live on a farm with roads that we need to maintain ourselves) and I must say, I am quite impressed by them. They are showing signs of light damage after 3000km because of rocks, but any tyre does this where I live.
I think the Anakee road noise could be from the extreme skinny width of the front tyre on the GS. Assuming the guy who didn't experience the road noise was riding something with a broader tyre. Not excusing the Anakees by any means, as it seems to be a common trend.
I had Bridgestone A40 and Pirelli Scorpion II. Because most of my riding is on paved roads I fitted this time a pair of Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trail tires.
I just mounted the Tourance Next on my V-Strom 650, coming also from a pair of Anakee 3, they weren't so bad, at least for me, a pair of very decent tires with good durability (my 650 doesn't have the torque of those 1200 GS, of course). But I fully agree with you guys, they were noisy as hell, I noticed back when I mounted them, I got used to it, and now that I got the Metzelers on I could almost hear the silence! Still very few miles with them, and of course there's the new tire vs the flattened old ones factor, but these Tourance Next handle like a dream, it's just so easy to make the bike go the way you want it to go... Great video, BTW, thanks for posting!
As I own a 1200gs shod with Anakee 3’s and about to buy new tyres and have had and liked Metzler Torrance Next, my only question is we’re yours the latest TN 2’s
Had Annakees and the Metzelers on my GSs, the worse problem was the wear rate though the Annakees were noisy. Fitted Pilot Road 4 Trails and just so good, very little wear in first 1500 miles and so much grip, but tyres can be a very personal thing. By the way the Picos are high up on my bucket list, amazing...
The last four sets for me were; Tourance Next, Anakee A3, Continental Trail Attack 3 and now Metzeler Roadtec01. As you will witness from other vloggers ( Teapot 1 + others) ...the only tyres I won't purchase again, are the Metzeler roadtec01's , they barely lasted 3900 miles. (Thrilled with the grip on all four )
+DervMan hehehe. I know it’s amazing out here. Travelling through Spain at the mo and it was 35 Dergess in Granada today. Wonderful and so much scenery and great roads. Lovely my life :)
Amazing roads. In the US, but have taken my bike over to Europe and ridden. Amazing roads and views :) Had the panickee's on my GSA and after about 6k, I could not stand them. I switched out the the K60, because I was doing more off roading. But, these have driven my insane with the road noise. Nice video on the Tourance Next. Time for a tire change and less off roading. Going to give these Tourance Next a go.
Did you get the £30 cash back Toby? I didn't notice much noise on my standard GS though I do ride with ear plugs in which might be why LOL. Idid notice a big difference when I swapped from the A3's though. They seemed to make the steering so much more responsive and gave me more confidence than the Michelins ever did. I didn't feel there was anything wrong with the A3's just that the TN's seem so much better.
Nice Job Toby, looking at getting some Tourance Next myself as the Anakees are now worn out at 6000 miles so if 10k is possible that's even better. Never liked the Anakees but that's what the Rallye came with. Recognised the roads we were there last year fantastic place, really appreciate your opinion on the tyres.
Yup agree those anakee 3’s are terrible had next’s on my last gs and will be swapping back soon as for the road noise took me a while to realise it was the tyres thought i needed to adjust my screen, simply not a great tyre in my opinion I’m sure some will dis agree
My Nexts are rounding off at 3000 miles on the rear. Apparently they are Chinese made versus the old German made Tourances (which I loved). I'm looking at the Bridgestone A41s now.....
Hmm.....so we are level pegging on the miles. Mine don't look 'terrible' but they are squaring off on the rear and I am about to do a 3000 mile Portugal trip. I hear / read bad things about the Chinese made Tourance Nexts......and I'm leaning back towards Bridgestone..... Let us know how you get on with them.
I had the Tourance nxt too on the LC GS but switched to the Pirelli too when I switched to the GSA, they are both great but the Pirelli seems to be more durable while it's on a heavier bike. It lasted around 1000 km more. They both are the best 90/10 endoro tires available, I believe the Tourance were even developed specially for the GS, but since I only ride on the road, probably I try the Roadtecs 01 next time.
And they last a long time too, I just covered over 10,000 km on mine, and 90% off that was on the highway, and I will use them for another 2000 km I think, they have started to square off, but still drivable. And I did order the Chinese mudsling, should be i the mail somewhere. (gs lc)
The Tourane nexts and the roadtecs are performing admirably. Got a few thousand miles on them and we are both about to start tours so will be doing videos shortly about their wear and how they are doing. Expecting 10000 miles from them :) Watch this space :)
+Becker Inal would love to say that was the case, but they are noisy tyres. Spoken to quite a few people with them now and all have the same thing. Noisy. Perhaps you have a good batch. Heheh.
I got rid of my Anakee III on my last GSA well before they were worn out because of the howl from the front tyre - even with earplugs the noise was intrusive. I went with Conti Trail Attacks.
No doubt if there is something controversial is tires ... But, I think the Michelin are unanimous: noisy and weak in the wet! Personally tourance next for the summer, Pirelli for the winter. TKC80 for offroad. BUT, there is a new one: ContiRoadAttack 3!
I will be ready to change mine in about 1000 miles which means I will have got over 10,000 miles compared to my Panicky 3's which only just made it to 7,000...
Anakees are noisy so is your English accent . My Tourance Next arrived yesterday we'll see!! Texas doesn't have curves. Never going to see Spain, beautiful scenery. America has everything I want to see. Nice job 👍🏻
I have them on nc 750 xd. Perfect. Have no problem on dry or wet roads. Todays technology of making moto tyres are awesome. Huge step ahead.
I had an xt 660 on these tyres, very good tyres, no issues. Also had a 600 fazer on Bridgestones which were terrifying in the wet, put me off Bridgestones for life. You can't go wrong on Melzeler.

great stuff buddy and awesome tyres!

+Dan Engels cool, pilot road 4’s are good :)

Hey matey, they are great tyres. 👌
Thanks for the kind words.
Ride safe 😀

No they were the originals but I have had 2’s fitted now and love them on my F850GSA

Very informative video and awesome images from Spain. Thanks.

Glad you enjoy it’s. Ride safe matey
Hey... Can you share some thoughts on this tyres overall? did u find some better than theese?
these are great, the RoadTec 01's are also awesome with loads of miles in them... always more than 10,000 before a change for us :)
Hi Chaps, I fitted RoadTec 01's to mine recently, and would agree, what a difference.
+Liam Hoad 100%
The last four sets for me were; Tourance Next, Anakee A3, Continental Trail Attack 3 and now Metzeler Roadtec01.

+Max Flight thanks for the info matey. We're getting 10000 miles plus out our nexts:)
Must admit I didn’t listen to a word you were saying Toby as the view was far too good 😉. What lovely roads 👍🏻🏍
+DervMan hehehe. I know it’s amazing out here. Travelling through Spain at the mo and it was 35 Dergess in Granada today. Wonderful and so much scenery and great roads. Lovely my life :)

Hey Bryan. The tourance and roadtec 01’s are amazing tyres. No noise loads of grip and over 10000 miles on a set too!
Ride safe
I've got the Anakee 3s on my 850GS and they sound like landrover tires. Super noisy... But great tires nonetheless.
No my 2015 GSA was very noisy too with the Annakee's Also Metzeler Karoo street are noisy on my 20 Africa Twin Adventure sports

hi lads, I agree with you on the tourance next but just wonder what pressures you run and does it differ for two up touring. Thanks Ger.
My Nexts are rounding off at 3000 miles on the rear. Apparently they are Chinese made versus the old German made Tourances (which I loved). I'm looking at the Bridgestone A41s now.....
Thanks for the update matey. Mine are at 3000 ish miles now and are still looking really good :)

Certainly will do. I leave for Spain and Portugal this weekend so look out for me. If you see me say hi :)
After having used the Tourance, I now switched to the Pirellis Scorpion Trail II and they quieter than the Tourance
+MrPaulo1400 thanks for the info. May try them in the future. :)

I'm looking for a new set of tyres for my GSA, how are your's getting on?
Thanks

I have the Michelins Anakee III and never heard any noise. Maybe you had some bad tires.

How in Gods name do you 'hear road noise' from the tyres whilst riding a GS?
+Squigles cause it was so loud. :)
