That's how this channel has always been. He'd lose all his press day invites and perks from manufacturers if he told the truth and gave proper reviews. That's why it's so vanilla. It's generally about announcing what's new, rather than unbiased reviews. For better or worse.
Running these on my Speedy 1050 RS at the moment, not done the mileage on them to be able to give an in depth review yet but so far compared to the road 5 I have taken off I’m impressed, bike feels sharper and I can feel what it’s doing through the bars more and through my arse. Will see how they feel with some more miles under my belt.
Mileage check-in? How many miles do you have and how's the tire looking!? It's either this tire or the Michelin Road 6 for me. Leaning towards this tire, I do love me a Metzeler...
@@treedogg so now on about 450 miles since I fitted them. I must say they the tip in for this tyre is lovely and fast. They do have a steeper profile than the Michelins. The other nice thing is I can feel a lot more feedback through my arse on this tyre in comparison to the road 5, and I got caught out in a thunderstorm and still had great confidence in the tyre and good feedback. Can I notice the dynamic tread at work? Probably not… do I feel more confident on this tyre? Absolutely. Your mileage may vary but so far so good 👍🏻
@@treedogg based on how they still look as good as new after nearly 500 miles I think they will last plenty of miles. Plus the front is a single compound meaning it’s going to be more resistant to squaring off unlike some others.
Well I've worn out the M9rr getting the Road tec 02 on next week. should be interesting. Would have liked to see a chart 02 vs the 9rr like the chart vs the 01 SE>
Been on a series of Pilot Roads (2 to 5) for the last decade but I was impressed by the German magazine Motorrad’s mega tyre group test that placed Roadtec 01s highest & also last year Ride magazine rated the SEs as the best sports touring tyre so these are definitely the ones I’m fitting next. 👍🏽
I’m running these on my speed triple 1050 RS at the moment, had road 5 on before. The feel and ‘flick ability’ of the 02 is quite an improvement. I can feel more through the bars and more through my arse. Obviously it’s subjective but so far I’m impressed. Need to get past that new tyre feeling to be more objective but so far so good. The OE dunlops are made to a cost point for the manufacture (they scrimp on tread and material savings etc) so you might find that a replacement set of the same tyre feels completely different but I’m impressed with the 02 so far
Waiting for these to come into stock. What would you choose between the roadtec 02 and the michelin road 6? Feel like the michelin is still going to be the wet weather choice, but the 02 looks like it'll be better for the sunday blast.
Interesting tyre, might try them next year. Loved the m7rr, a super confident feeling sporty tyre, but the rear lasts less than 2,800 miles on my bike. I've been trying sports touring tyres to see how they cope with me and my bike.....so these look good 👍🏻
Dynatread is marketing waffle. The grip is dependent on the stability at the contact patch, not its size…. More sipes means quicker warm up and cold weather performance, but not nearly as good traction or feel when hot as they overheat - On a 1,000cc bike on track for example. “We will give an independent review and say what we think” (followed by an advert for Metzeler including their infographics) - you know which side your bread is buttered! 😂
I think its a miss on this video for me, you really didn't tell us anything about the actual feel of these tires when riding and you certainly didn't compare against anything similar. Im left disappointed with this video. Sorry MOTOBOB Just my opinion.
You do realize that he has to bring on companies and sponsors to make money for videos to supply to you for FREE!. that will on occasion call for a product spotlight. You'd be lying to yourself and everyone around you if said that you wouldn't take the money to keep the dream alive. So get off your high horse commoner.
I'm just surprised Bob wasn't slagging it off as soon as he found out it was 'sustainable'. Any bike that meets the latest euro emissions regs gets shade thrown at it and is gaslighted by saying it's 'probably' heavier (when it's actually lighter) or has 'less power' when it has more.
Love the review. Informative and actually explains everything well. Well done, 10/10❤👏🏼 There is not enough tire reviews on youtube when it comes to motorcycles. That goes for All the manufacturers. There weren't even any reviews on the M9RR after they launchd. I tried them because they happen to come in to the shop the day i needed new tires and i saw them. On top of that, manufacturers are Horrible at advertisement too. Look at the add Metzeler themselves put out on youtube. It's total garbage and makes no sense to anyone but themselves. Owners of Metzeler: If you read this, i'm a huge Metzeler fanboy, and i still wouldn't buy the tires after seeing your "add"/information video on youtube. That looked like someone who didn't know tires at all got the assignment of making a tire add. Either hire better people, or you could contact me directly, and I'll give you a better script for free.
Thanks Roy! Regarding tyre reviews, as a small business there's not much room to take losses. We have a handful of people to pay so we have to make sure every piece of content at least covers the cost of creation, but ideally makes a bit of profit on top. Tyre reviews are generally a bit niche and so that's why we can make a lot of them - you can't guarantee you'll make back what you spend, especially if it's a trip like this where you're away for 3 days plus the edit time when you get back. This was a one-off because Metzeler are one of our sponsors so we need to support them in the same way that they support our business. That said - I agree a simple UA-cam video from manufacturers (not just tyres - bikes, clothing, accessories could benefit too) explaining their new products in a more straightforward and detailed manner seems like an easy and relatively cheap win for them. Doesn't cost anywhere near as much to get someone in a studio delivering a script to the camera for 20 mins as it does to try to recreate a car advert from TV with all the cameras, locations, crew, bikes, insurance etc.
@motobob Oh, I wasn't saying youtubers need to do more reviews on their own. I was referring to the manufacturers inviting the big reach chanel's, such as yourself, and the big motorcycle web sites, like MCN, FortNine, and Rezilla. That way a good amount of people can get the information if this is something for them.
I literally just put those on my bike. Hopefully they wont melt like everything's else 😂. 260kg the bike,30kg panniers,92kg myself and 65kg my gf. No wonder haha
Indeed I get more and more tired of so called "reviews" by "independent" content creators who are after being invited to the next press release. To be ignored....
I think the harshest criticism you can give is questioning someone's integrity. I certainly wouldn't go that far based solely on this video so I disagree with your words questioning his integrity. Perhaps the video would have been better if some comparisons to other comparable tires from Dunlop, Michelin, etc. I will agree the perception isn't good but it isn't enough for me to question his integrity.
I love the Metzler tires! I have the Tourance Next's on my 1200 tiger GT Explorer and I just put the SportTec's on my Thruxton R to replace the Pirelli Rossa Corsa original tires. My Pirelli's were down to the core in 3000 miles. That's ridiculous for a street tire! Great review on the Roadtec's. 👍👍
I'd rather have had a tyre comparison against similar tyres like Michelin Road 6 than have the Metzeler marketing material read to me.....

So how do they perform?

Can you do a comparison between M9RR and RoadTec 02 ?
Looking forward to a comparison between this and the tried-and-true Road 6.

Sounds interesting, not a lot of reviews on the internet but i might give it a try !
How did they compare to the Dunlops that come on the GSX8S? Thinking of swapping the Dunlops out this summer for something with more feel and grip

I am excited to try those tires. They will be my next choise, definitely. 🤩 Thenk you for posting this video! 😇
Would wonder if the flex of the tread to its "braced" position would induce some unwanted heat at the input force needed to reach that state.

Thank you for the video. Sports touring, would these be for the Multistrada RS?
I’ll wait for a decent in depth review on the riders thoughts, instead of regurgitating Metz 02 blurb.

Roadtec 01 rear rubber had better styling. Thats why i got it 😅
If Metzeler would like to bring me over to the Isle of Man to review their tyres I'm available.
Metzler had that for years it was called the Z8, the Roadtech 01 was basically a rain tire and was too soft to deal with a Multistrada 2up and laoded.
Do you think that’s still the case ?
