This has just reminded me of long ago. I’m in the north of Scotland, but had to go on a week day training course in England. This was late 80s when car theft was a huge thing in the news, but not where I live. I drove to Manchester, booked into the allocated hotel and took the steering wheel from my car into the hotel bedroom. 19mm socket if I remember correctly.
Hi ped yes you are absolutely correct in saying that you should always have a person who definitely knows how to do things like changing steering wheels where air bags are there
First class great modification enjoy your self happy motoring. Upgrading your seats would be a really good idea but make sure that there JCW branded and hard wearing 👍.
If I replaced a Mini wheel, the number one thing on my priorities would be a thinner rim. Mini wheels, like all BMW wheels, are designed to be comfortable in the hands of an orangutan. I love the steering wheels on the MX5 and 86/BRZ. I have no clue what started this thicker is better thing.
I thought you had a carbon venturi air intake system in your Mini but I guess it is the only bit of interior carbon. It looks good on the wheel and I think you made the right choice. The next thing you need is the red rally mud flaps.
Steering wheel looks great, especially like the airbag finish... The illegal number plate however does not... £1000 fine, MOT fail, VOID insurance as the number plate insured is not displayed correctly and legally and it looks really silly... oh and its the law... other than that it looks good...
Personally I won’t have any alcantara on any future vehicle. It attracts dirt like a magnet and is impossible to keep looking good… Currently have alcantara steering wheel and shifter knob from factory on my JCW Roadster, but I’d swap them both in a heartbeat as I really don’t like the stuff.
Love the dawgs. I would have gone with option 1. The wheel is the only part of a car you are in constant contact with. Hand sanitizer, sunscreen and just daily usage all leave something behind. It's just not ideal.
How many of your viewers are used to “spannering yourself”? It does look stunning, and whilst I’m not about to start meddling with newish Mini and so will leave messing with the steering wheel, those little seat belt buckle covers look fab!
How's your driver's seat wearing? Is there play in the seat back? Can you feel it moving forward under braking? I have the same seats in my r53 with this issue and can't find a fix for it.
Would have gone full alcantara without the centre stripe. Gold stitching to tie in the exterior styling. Pretty subtle. Joe Achilles got it right with his wheel on the BRG M3T
Certainly different to the Mini I used to ride in with the interior pull wire to open the door and the sliding windows. Very posh. That wheel you've installed is the nicest part of that interior!
Check out SMPS2012 for steering wheels and a huge range of quality parts to make you Mini stand out from the crowd.

Wow. I didn't know there is alot to know there was so much in replacing a steering wheel with a airbag. I'm glad you had a professional do the work.🤙🤙
Me too 😂
Gorgeous Steering wheel. My pick of the 3 as wheel. Gonna get one myself. Class 👌🏻👌🏻
Amazing 👍
A very nice steering wheel upgrade Sir Pete!! Look good.
It looks mega. You picked the right one. Carbon and alcantara. Darren really knows his stuff. Awesome video.
Thanks 👍

😂😂😂
Used to do that with my Caterham 👍
Imperfitations, that's a great way of describing it. Pinching that, Pete!
😂😂😂
A line of dehiscence would also be an accurate term too. From the botanical lexicon.
That transformed the focus of the interior! Such a stunning upgrade!
Thanks 🙏🏻

Absolutely
New wheel looks good.Good job by Darren.

Recaros. Don’t fanny about.

Good choice with the wheel👍🏻! But I still don’t the color on the wing mirrors!
Great vid, great wheel, thanks Pete.
Thanks 👍

Love the Mini content! Great video!

Get some nice carbon backed bucket seats. Alcantara centres, leather outer, red and silver stitching (like the JCW badge)
Nice 👌
Looks fantastic Pete.
16:31 cracking job guys
It's not ducking and diving, it's jiggery pokery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you like the New Steering Wheel 😊
Things have changed since I changed since I put a Mountney steering wheel on my (Rusty and falling apart) 1976 Mini Clubman!
Oh yes 😂
Great wheet choice - the boss is stunning! Hope it wears well. Thomas from Autogefuel swaers by it and did a great video on Alcantara.
Awesome! Thank you!
Looks nice.
T and I love it 👌
Great choice of wheel looks cool
Thanks 👍
Good video and good advice Pedro... Cheers
Thanks 👍
Love the new steering wheel. Looks fantastic.
Have you seen they do different colour seat belts? GP red would look good in your car
😬👍

That was on the Clubman 👍
@@PetrolPed So it was.
There is a genuine OEM mini steering wheel carbon you can get at the 6 o clock mark!
Ruby forever!! Nice wheel. Would a rollcage be an option?
I want to keep it more street 👍

Been like that 15 years 🤷♂️
Well maybe recaro seats would be a good upgrade
I love those but very expensive 😬
That looks awesome 👍
Sorry Ruby dear, I love the new steering wheel, but I stopped looking at you when I saw the Series 1 E-Type!! 🤤
😂😂😂
Horn rings and rim protectors. Ooo errr! Nudge is as good as wink to a blind bat! Hey. Heeeeeey!
😂😂😂
Love the Mini videos
Thanks 🙏🏻
Right choice for the steering wheel, rim protector! You children 😂
🤭
Fab wheel👍
👍
I would have said that one
Sell it 😆 Cheers guys
Option 2

Apple car play

Hello mate

Definitely needs some carbon fibre clock surrounds
Great choice of steering wheel 👏. Sam certainly supplies some great products at SMPS. it’s certainly not a job to do at home on the drive
Very true!
4:08 Hello Sir, like what ya did there 😂
Have to say I knew that was the one you would go for. Carbon fiber?
👍
I never considered that a steering wheel could look that good. 👌👍
Thanks 👍
How's your driver's seat wearing? Is there play in the seat back? Can you feel it moving forward under braking? I have the same seats in my r53 with this issue and can't find a fix for it.
It’s done that since I’ve had it. Very annoying 😢
Change the seat👍
12 o’clock markers always puzzle me on a flat bottomed wheel
Would have gone full alcantara without the centre stripe. Gold stitching to tie in the exterior styling. Pretty subtle. Joe Achilles got it right with his wheel on the BRG M3T
Lovely finished steering wheel fitting 🎉
Thank you 👍
Maybe a set of alcantara seats... 🤔
🧐👍
Certainly different to the Mini I used to ride in with the interior pull wire to open the door and the sliding windows. Very posh. That wheel you've installed is the nicest part of that interior!
I know right 😂
The carbon fibre and leather is definitely the classiest looking …. And would feel good in the hand 👍
One good turn.....😊
😂😂😂
Hi Peds 👍👍
Hi 👋
Thoroughly Enjoyed This Vlog Mr. Petrol Ped. Thank You For All Your Very Hard Work ... 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Recaro Sportster seats would set it off just about right I think.
Oh yes 🙌
