"HE MADE HIM INTO AN ACTUAL TWO-FACE, LON!"
"Because 100 million dollars doesnt spend itself, Lon"
When Dan rant about the batmobile driven by Alfred I've almost cried. Funniest moment ever.
That was perfect
Dan needs to watch Batman: Ninja if he hasn't already.
Dan is broken again.
So true, Lon. When Dan and Joe announced Spencer’s parental leave last week, I was sad that Spencer was going to be gone for up to a year ... because I’m from CANADA.
See you in five more weeks, Spencer!
good thing babies only take 8 weeks to become autonomous, otherwise that might be diffucult!
Just a reminder this film has a bigger budget (100 mil) than Shazam (90 mil)
Can we upvote this so someone (Spencer) saves it in a folder for the inevitable Shazaam HT?
Adding another comment so OG comment gets more views.
We havnt seen shazam yet so that statistic is meaningless
An interesting note

The thing is Alan Rickman knew to camp it up, so there was humor AND menace in his delivery. Delivering them, while just trying to be menacing fails to acknowledge the ridiculousness of the dialog
Very true! And Rickman being the immensely talented actor that he was walked the perfect line of camp and menace. Prince of thieves is not a great movie, but I can forgive it for many of it's sins because of things like Rickmans delivery, the grandiose 90's Costner-esce adventure style and the nostalgia of always watching it when home sick from school (had it taped on VHS). I watched it not long ago and still found it entertaining. Also without it we wouldn't have men in tights :)
I don't know how Joe does it.
His jokes are solid, but sometimes you can just SEE the joke behind his eyes that he knows he can't say if he wants to keep his job on today's internet. The thing is, that unspoken joke, that impish-Joe-Starr twinkle when you see the split second just-say-it/no-i-can't battle within him is hysterical to me. Like one of these days he's just gonna go full Gollum/Smeagol and it's gonna be glorious.
I mean, the man kind of awkwardly made a child-death joke at the beginning that had me in tears from laughing.
you put it into words, thank you
This has to be the funniest, most hilarious, most fun Honest Trailers Commentary I've seen so far. Guys, you killed it with this one
"AND WE'RE CANCELLING CHRISTMAS". RIP Alan Rickman
Ryan O'Flaherty 💯 One of my favorite lines from Prince Of Thieves!! He was SO funny!!
If they could have somehow mixed Rickman’s serious sheriff, into Robin Hood Men in Tights. There would be no reason to ever make another Rob the Hood movie, because we would have the definitive version.
@@vlogerhood cool
@@vlogerhood It sure is. Also... Cancel table scraps for leppers and orphans
"No more merciful beheadings!" 🤣
Before frozen 2 comes out, please do an “Every Disney Sequel Ever” Honest Trailer featuring Pocahontas 2, Cinderella 2, Mulan 2, and every other animated sequel out there. Meaning, the sequels people forgot about or never knew existed.
The fact that Ben Mendelson is an antagonist in both Robin Hood and Dark Knight Rises is more on the nose than I realized.
My favorite is definitely Men in Tights.
absolutely!
That is the Best version of Robin Hood.
The best!
tight, tights
Mine is the Disney one.
That "inconsistent time period" thing can work, though, if the rest of the movie is good - witness Moulin Rouge and Knight's Tale. Or was it just me who thought those movies worked? Also, in 2058 Spencer's kid will be pretty much be Spencer's age...
No, you're right, they both worked. But I think the difference is this movie takes itself WAY TOO seriously. Moulin Rouge is an insane fever dream, Knight's Tale is a wacky comedy, but Robin Hood seems to think it's this serious historical epic while also being ridiculously anachronistic, and that just translates to trainwreck.
You wanna know how I got this slim fitting suit? Haha Joe nailed it
11:04 It was this moment when I realized I want a whole video of Joe covering Take My Breath Away
We feel like that can happen.
30:45 Joe enjoying himself referencing Men In Tights is just pure sunshine. 😁
Best of Alan Rickman:
1. Die Hard
2. Quigley Down Under
3. Galaxy Quest
4. Harry Potter
5. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
He nails "put upon" in Galaxy Quest. Dogma's in my top 5
I live for terrible movie Honest Trailers. Thank you for keeping my spirits up on a gloomy day!
Even if these bad movie HT don't perform that well on UA-cam I always enjoy them the best. Your takes are always way more passionate and the HTC is always way more funny because you guys have a lot more to say about it. I will always watch the Screen Junkies content, but I always find the movies you guys are excited to do always end up being way more enjoyable to watch. Also Thanks for keeping me entertained while recovering from my wisdom tooth surgery!
I just need voices to fill my head while i work. Thats why i watch honest trailer commentaries.
I'm also binging while recovering from surgery for a broken ankle. Hope you feel better
His “public butler” 😂😂😂
I'm just re-watching this. Lon predicted Songbirds and Snakes three years earlier!
“President snow prequel” oh lon you didn’t know how right you would be
BEST. SCREEN JUNKIES. SHOW.
I loved the Robin of Sherwood TV-Show from 1984.
"Robin Hood has been feathery." LOL. Why does that make me laugh? 😆
Fun fact, in Quigley Down Under you have both Alan Rickman AND Ben Mendelsohn.
I love Lon's rant about the Crusades and the castle.
“Let’s just jump into it”
-Philip DeFranco
And joe Starr and Dan Murrell the last 2 videos. 😂🤣😂
“You have failed this movie” in green arrow voice
This is a perfect example of an enjoyable Trash Fire. I watched it knowing it was going be terrible, and I eminently enjoyed myself.
So you’re telling me that next week’s Honest Trailer is for a movie that wasn’t exactly... Fantastic?
Indeed, it was positively beastly
--->(sorry if this was the hint, I'm only partway through the commentary)
I still don't know the answers. Can you tell me Where to Find Them?
Or was Fan4stic?
@@Creatch829 Nah, they did that one a few years ago. The sequel to that original spinoff is the logical leap
I would commit some Crimes to know what movie you are talking about.
Hey, I respect how much passion you had for (against) this movie. I just thought it was bad, but you guys really went for it.
I love love LOVE Dan just insisting on doing this. It looks amazing.
Lon's rant is my new favourite thing
When I saw the archers moving at the start like the special forces do I had the exact same thought! Seal team Robin!
It's not possible for me to like this video more. I love when you guys get to take on movies that you clearly want to cover.
This is the first honest trailer that I've enjoyed for about a year. So much so that I watched the commentary for the first time in about six months. And I loved this too, so much. Please do crap/small/unusual movies - stop letting the fans suggest boring, slightly above average blockbusters (especially comic book movies) to do honest trailers on.
This commentary was SOOOO entertaining! The amount of times you had to compose yourselves because you were overwhelmed by how stupid this is! Brilliant :)
I want to see Robin Hood in Space. I don't think 2058 is far enough into the future for that to happen, but . . . that's what I want.
Stephen Evans AKA: Rocket Robin Hood! That was an awesome cartoon!
When they were talking about that, I felt like Firefly was quite close to that, although it doesn't quite have an equivalent to the Sheriff?
I think the Bane of Nottingham would have been a good take.
28:08 to watch Lon break.
You're welcome.
Sean Nurse Lon-est Trailer.
I also really loved the BBC show
Jessica Resendez laaa di daaa di daaa
Robin Hood has already been to space....Rocket Robin Hood cartoon from the 70's...It was so awesome
Excited for the Disney live action Robin Hood with CGI foxes and woodland animals!
Robin Hood and little John walking through the forest...
Laughing back and forth at what the other has to say...
Quigley Down Under ironically starred Alan Rickman.
Quigley Down Under was my dad's favorite movie when I was a kid.
2 shades of face made me laugh out loud when I saw the honest trailer. That really was a good one.
The deleted archer and dan's phrasing got me the most
Actually, Cardinals were very involved in government then. Mainly, because clergy were usually the best educated and it was easier for a king to get things done if you had the church on your side. Even centuries later, you had Cardinal Wolsey acting as the chief minister to Henry VIII.
100% Jamie Dornan in The Fall. Amazing.
That awkward moment when you watch HTC to watch the Honest Trailer.
Welcome to the club. Your membership card is in the mail.
Awkward or brilliant!!
Welcome to the club, your membership card should arrive it 6-8 business days
Go watch the Honest trailer itself. The added views and viewer interaction keeps the lights on, and makes sure we get a lot more is these into the future.
@@NichSchoepfer What about members who haven't watched the movie but is watching the commentaries?
I'll watch a video of Dan and Joe watching men in tights
Patreon Goal!
When the Crusades Draft comes back I'm going to Canada. Couldn't stop laughing...
I watched the movie purely to watch this HTC!
Call Of Duty: Medieval Warfare
I love prince of thieves... is actually better than most people think...
She steals from him and then they fall in love, just like catwoman steals from Wayne in the Nolan's version
14:34
* Dan picks a little fluff from the table
* takes it to his mouth
Dan: "Yam!"
Joe: "oh boy"
Lon: "eeew"
5:58 Yes Lon! The Fall was REALLY good
But have you all watched the Robin Hood BBC series in 2006-2009? This is ALSO ripping off that.
No, I haven't... but I have on DVD the tv-series "Robin of Sherwood" from the mid 80s. Although I haven't dared to re-watch it because I loved it as a child and I'm afraid it won't be able to live up to my memories. Did that mistake with re-watching the old Narnia tv-series...
A movie fight question: pitch Robin hood 2058 movie with actor n director.
Remembering the commentary for Halloween when Spencer and Lon’s headphone cords got tangled still makes me laugh. No idea why 😂
Dan. Rant. Dan. Rant. #DanRants are what I live for!!
Yay! We got a Lon Rant from this!!
All I remember Jamie Dornan for is playing Sheriff Graham/the Huntsman on season one of "Once Upon a Time".
Whyyy do they keep trying to make Robin Hood and King Arthur a thing other than it's in public domain or did I answer my own question
Cause they're both English legends that happen at the time of the crusades so it is easy to imagine them in the same universe
There is a certain nostalgia factor. Disney has both an animated Robin Hood and King Arthur, and if you're 40-50ish, if not a bit older, (which most of the current crop of people in charge are), you most likely saw those movies more than once. And to that you can add Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves of 1991 and Excalibur from 1981. Then toss in Arrow being currently on TV. Plus on the King Arthur side, I reckon it is in part because knights are sort of cool, and well, he and his crew are the most famous ones. But yeah, you'd figure they'd try to do an Ivanhoe or Don Quixote, instead of constantly going back to Arthur.
But anyway, brand recognition.
@@stelanora7827 King Arthur is way before the crusades. He's supposedly late 5th to early 6th century, which predates by the crusades by a good 500 years. A large part of why he's pretty much just a myth. And while movies to do tend to place him later (based on the armor used), when it comes to a king to tie to the Crusades, it is usually Richard the LIonheart that gets used. Which makes sense, as he was part of one.
Nope you nailed it they are known IPs in the public domain. Never mind the interest in them isn’t there it means they don’t have to come up with something new
Thank you so much for this trailer and this commentary. I needed this.
Also, love the Lon rant.
I have seen Quigley Down Under like 100 times.
"Some people are born in the century, I think I was born on the wrong continent".
It's so good.
Thank you, Lon, for bringing up The Fall when talking about Dornan. It's so underwatched and underappreciated, and I really enjoyed him in it.
I would pay to have this panel do a scene by scene commentary of Robin Hood (2018).
I actually really liked the Russel Crowe Robin Hood!
One small comment about the Cardinal, in the middle ages high ranking church leaders were also rich and powerful land owners so the idea of one controling a sheriff is not entirely stupid.
In the movie, they actually specify that the Cardinal is coming in from Rome. He's doing his duty there as a church official, not a landowner. There's no way a local sheriff would report directly to him.
Come on, there’s a female-led MCU movie coming out this week, and you didn’t make an Honest Trailer for Elektra?
Oh well, I still hope you’ll do The Avengers (1998) before Endgame comes out!
I hope they do Howard the Duck in the lead-up to Endgame. I think it was the first theatrically released adaptation of a Marvel property.
Rickman and Mendelsohn were both in Quigley Down Under.
I'm not sure you are right about the relationship between the church and "state" in this period.. I am NOT making any definitive conclusion, but I think the church did indeed have the power to "order" (demand) locals to cooperate.
The drawstrength of an English longbow was up to 180 pounds. It caused physiological changes in English bowmen. You aren't holding it and swinging it around like an assault rifle, checking your corners. Unless you've got arms the size of the Mountain.
You may have been expecting Spencer to be here
but you have to forget what you think you know
😂😂😂
33:15 He said phrasing...LMAO 😂🤣😂🤣
i can see you guys are using new camera shot angles, it looks great! you can see it when it just cuts to joe, i love it, keeping it fresh!
We need a podcast where they do a movie a week. Old or new.
Next week : Fantastic Beasts 2 ?
Wizard Hitler.
“Why make this movie?”
“Because $100 million doesn’t spend itself.” Hee.
Yay, Lon!
Lon. DC did a limited series comic book called Hood in the 90s which was set in the future
LON RANT!! #LonRant
By the way, they actually did mention Sherwood Forest at the end of the movie. When they come out of the mines, one of the guys says to Rob "See you in Sherwood!"... I think I permanently damaged my eyes by rolling them too hard every two minutes or so for the entire movie...
Life advice: don’t get in a Rickman-off with Alan Rickman.
robin hood IN SPAAAAAAACE!!!!!!!
Wow. Joe with the love for Quigley:Down Under.
With Joe at the lead he's become a Starr!
"President Snow Prequel" Lon, what have you done?
The robin hood movie I did like as a kid was the one that focussed on his daughter played by Kira Knightly. I don't know if the movie holds up but as a kid I loved it.
Robin Hood in Space? Already done. Rocket Robin Hood (1966).
Lon predicted the President Snow prequel !!!!!!
Robin Hood: The Dark Tights
I recently watched the movie just because Dan's and Roth's review. Had to see the stupidity. Did not disappoint.
You forgot about Dark Knight Rises. He was Dagget.
1. I watch the honest trailer so i can watch the commentary.
2. Please make a robin hood movie set in a flinstones universe. With everyone in it. PLEASE!
Thank you Lon
They did have a take on this Robin Hood making it as a Batman/superhero film that is the twist, I personally want to see a true Robin Hood story with out a take on it.
Anyone remember “Rocket Robin Hood?” might as well get a movie version of that.
