With my hair I have to do an entire pack of indigo. I only mixing in the indigo about 15 minutes before I’m applying the entire thing all together Then I have to mix only a tablespoon or less of Henna. If I use more Henna than that, my grays come out orange. When I mix my henna separate, I add the aloe vera powder and the fenugreek. The combination smells amazing but this is the only way I could get my hair, dark dark brown. The maximum amount of time is 2 1/2 hours to three on my hair. If I do more than that, my hair comes out really dry. These are the only products I’ve ever used and I have it down to a science now.
the indigo sat for 30m, the henna for 2 hours. i tried mixing them on time to be shorter but i had to mix the indigo slowly to avoid clumping like the henna did at first (i shouldve been more careful with it) its on my head. see ya in 3h
the indigo released beautifully to dark blue, the henna was less pronounced but still visibly green/brown in the glass bowl. so far exactly like the video
I mixed half of each bag for my hair, when I really should've mixed 1/4th. I forgot my hair was so short (buzzed undercut to a pixie). no idea what to do with this leftover mix lol
washed it out, my hair is dark brown (original color) and my baby hairs are dark reddish brown (new) I think I made the indigo:henna ratio too small, but that's alright, though it's too late to do the 2nd step so I'll do that tomorrow
did it! indigo on day 2, i only rinsed out the henna on day 1. it wasnt blue-black, but it looks like natural black hair. if jagua works faster for blue-black, maybe ill try that sometime. im not going to do more work for this indigo, though, especially with short hair that will cut off most of the dye every few months. im glad it worked!
I followed step 1 directions, and added 2 tbsp amla and 1 tsp aloe. I used 50g Jamila henna, 50g indigo. I let the Henna sit for 4 hours, and indigo 25min. I let sit in hair for 4 hours and rinse with one of the the cowashes from Henna Sooq. My hair is originally dark brown. There a minuscule, MINISCULE, amount of red undertone now. No super visible different. I am doing the pure indigo with 2 tbsp salt and 1 tsp of aloe today. One thing I will note is I got a massive headache for 8 hours. I had to take Tylenol max strength twice. Please use caution and beware.
Results are in. After the 2nd step, pure indigo, my hair is a noticeably darker, deeper, cooler, brown black. It looks blue black indoors. Outdoors, it shows dark dark brown (almost red) in direct light. I’d say this is a success. I will keep repeating with pure indigo a few times to see how it builds over time. I am thinking maybe monthly for now. Hopefully I can achieve a blue black. If I do, I will update here.

I'm regrowing my hair after being a redhead for three years. I'd love to use henna but I want it to be similar to my hair colour wich is dark but not blueish dark
Hello, thank you for the tutoria, I followed your teaching, I did the henna first then washed it out and while my hair was damp, I applied indigo but after washing out the indigo, the indigo did not turn the hair black The hair was left with the wine colour from the henna. I have done the same process twice and got the same result. So what do you advise I do?
Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us and bringing this to our attention. We're sorry to hear about the unexpected results you experienced with our product. What was the temperature of your home at the time of application? How did you prepare the mixture? Was the water boiling, warm, or cold? Did you add any additional ingredients or liquids to the mixture? Understanding these factors will help us determine the cause of the issue and provide you with the appropriate guidance to achieve the desired results. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to resolving this matter for you. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.
Thank you so much for the inspiring work you do! A quick question: Do you ever mix henna with vinegar? I don't remember anymore where I read that this supposedly helps with stubborn hair...Not sure it works though, my hair does not give up that easily ...

thank you for the vid! I'm going to try this with coffee and some acid (lemon juice or vinegar) because right now I don't know where to find indigo in my region. I'm looking to mask my gray hairs. I don't mind if the result is brown as long as they are not completely white as they are right now.... I'm only in my 30's and these things add some 10 years to my look :(

Does this apply for those who use henna for hair growth but don't want a colour change? As in does the indigo aid your hair growth while cancelling the henna colour?
Indigo is primarily for hair dyeing and doesn't do anything from growth that we're aware of. You won't need indigo if you don't care about the coloring unless you don't want the henna to make your hair reddish tinted. Or consider other hair growth herbs like amla and cassia instead to avoid coloring that henna does.
Hello. Please make sure to do indigo within 72 hours of henna application (right after or next day included). Indigo does not always work the first time and repeated application(s) may be necessary.
Hi, I really enjoyed watching this video and learn tricks on how to dye the hair Can you send me the link to go see how much i need to add henna and indigo into my hair based on my hair length Also, how many days should we wait until we wash our hair after applying henna and indigo? Thank you in advance

I'm new to henna. I used a combination of indigo and henna (it came pre-combined). Unfortunately, it has made some of my hair purple which is not what I want. How do I fix this? My hair is naturally black. I like the idea of soft black with reddish tones. I do have some grey at the roots but my hair is not all grey.
I’m in Canada. Choices in my area are limited. Using Radico color me organic soft black. Would using just natural henna tone down the purple. It’s not purple all over, just near front where there are greys. Noticed that the store also carried Colora Henna. Never used that one before. I looked at your product but trying to avoid shipping fees.
Do you have videos on showing other colors, showing from the beginning of dying the hair to after washed out? it would be nice to also see a video on how it works on black women natural hair showing different hair dye colors such a as black, red, gold, brown.
So I have greys snd the two step process works great for me. But today I did the two step process again and everywhere I had grey my hair turned green. What do I do to fix this?
Hello! You may need to color with henna and indigo again. For it to come out green means your henna didn’t work. Which henna and indigo are you using from us?
Hello. Unfortunately not, as the Aloe Vera gel form doesn’t work well for coloring. The indigo is very fussy and ideally Aloe Vera powder helps it perform best.
Wow... BIG THANK YOU, fir this video. I have 1 question tho. May I still add Brhingaraj and Brahmi Powders to my Henna Powder along with the Aloe Vera and Indigo in the first step?
@@Sisi-ma-577 our rajasthani henna is ready in 3-4 hours (not 6-8 hours) and then indigo is 20-30 minutes and then you combine them. I'm confused...though. The timing doesn't really make a difference in steps as long as you follow the steps but also take into consideration the guidelines for the henna and indigo you're using's dye release times. So yu can change those timings as needed but still follow the steps.
Hi Khadijah. You mentioned in one of your comments to dye hair every four to six weeks but do root touch ups in between. Do you mean the entire length of the hair must be dyed every 4 to 6 weeks ? And the root touch ups in between the four to six week period ? If that’s the case why does the whole hair need to be dyed regularly… will this whole thing wash out every four to six weeks?
Hello. Henna can sometimes fade over time as does any type of dye (weather and elements cause this or heat over time) and it also grows out so it’ll eventually come out on its own fully over time. Henna hair dye lasts 4-6 weeks but depends on hair growth. That's why we recommend to color usually 4-6 weeks. People choose henna hair dye as they do not want to use chemicals so this is a true natural alternative. We hope this helps you make your decision on what would work best for you. Good luck!
@ when we dye every four to six weeks do u recommend full hair or root touch ups? Also what happens when u put henna on top of the indigo and henna from the month before ? Doesn’t it come out a whole new color?
Thank you fornice videos.:) I half grey and I use henna for longer time. Now I would like to achieve black blue hair....but I am wondering how to treat roots to keep this effect. Does it look fine if you treat roots with henna+indigo?
Hello. Yes, you can place it in the fridge for 5-7 days. Please use within 7 days of being made (if kept in the fridge). If you have any leftovers you can freezer for up to 6 months.
Hello. Please make sure to do indigo within 72 hours of henna application (right after or next day included). Indigo does not always work the first time and repeated application(s) may be necessary.
When I used to dye my hair copper red with henna, I was always advised to use a lot of lemon juice in the recipe. But you didn't use any? Is lemon not needed?
Hello. Please Note: for coloring treatments do not use heavy liquids such as yoghurt, shea/cocoa butters, conditioners, etc…as they dilute the color, and won’t yield best color coverage. We do not recommend lemon juice for hair coloring recipes as this would be much too harsh and drying to your hair. We hope this helps clarify!
Hi! I bought this brand, both henna and indigo but I wanted to achieve a black-brown color rather than a pure black color; does this method give a pure black color? Should I follow this for black-brown or find another method?
Hell. Unfortunately not as the aloe Vera gel form doesn’t work well for coloring. The indigo is very fussy and ideally aloe vera powder helps it perform best.

Hi Khadijah. I've got a question. If you want to go brown, how long do you leave the henna in your hair for? Also, do you have to wait three days to wash your hair after the application? I have also seen people making brown colour with coffee mixed with henna. Please can you do a video on what I've mentioned?

So I already have fairly dark brown hair. It is very dark at the roots but I just find it gets duller/slightly red/lighter towards the ends. If I go in with just indigo will it just give me the VERY dark brown/black I'm looking for? Or do I need to do the henna step as well.

@@HennaSooq hi! So I want the dark dark blue black. I did the exact steps as this video last night. The brand I used was Minature. For both henna and indigo. And my hair is already black/brown. So far I haven’t noticed a difference in the change of colour ? I did the first henna/indigo step and right after I did the indigo step. Washed it out. I’m actually about to wash my hair again because I still have indigo in my hair. But what I’m trying to achieve is dark dark blue black. Also, my henna was a brown shade, yours looked green in the video. Does that make a difference?
Hi! I use the 2 step process to get black hair. I have mixed henna with just warm water and applied immediately and left on my hair for 1.5hrs and it colored my grays with no problem. I then did the same with the indigo & left on for an hr to get black. I've had no issues getting great coverage this way. Is there a reason to wait for the dye release? Does the color last longer waiting for the dye release? Just wondering.
Well, I watched your video while I was waiting for my 2nd step to end. Sadly I started to have headaches and nausea after 3h so I rinsed. My hair is drying right now but it already seems dark brown to black. But I read that I should not do it again considering the headache... It's the third time I'm doing an indigo and first time I got this. Is it the mark ? Is it me ? I also had kind of an allergy to red henna when I was pregnant (same mark as this indigo). And no problem since the baby is born. So as an expert , what do you think? have I become allergic to indigo ? Is this mark toxic ? I've used it a few times before 😢. Thank you.
Hello. We can’t predict that as we can’t say how your body will react. But you can do a patch test on your inner arm to see and monitor this. If it’s only headaches then some take headache meds before or wear a mask or Benadryl. We hope this helps some. But do monitor it as we would not want it to get any worse for you or unbearable so always take careful steps. We hope this helps!
@@HennaSooq thank you for kind reply and if you have suggestions or links to the product you using I would love to try it. I have been looking for henna that develops faster. Thanks in advance!

I tried this method today but ended up with orange hair. What could be the issue? I mixed less henna and more indigo because the last time I applied ended up with the orange sheen. That time henna was more and indigo was less.
Hello. Color results can vary depending on your natural hair color or on how much grey hair you have. The lighter the hair and the more greys you have, will pull the most red (sometimes even an orange). Therefore sometimes, repeated applications are necessary to get better color.
Thanks for this video! I love your product. My hair loves plant dye. I can even just leave indigo on for 1 hour and it is a beautiful jet black! And most of the time I don't even need to dye release the indigo. Of course it takes me 1/2 hour to apply it..because I am crazy slow. So perhaps is it safe to say that hair texture plays a role in how long it is kept on? My hair is pretty thin and straight. Thoughts?
Hello. Blue-black is the most you can get with indigo in a two-step process and several applications. About 4-6 applications to build the tone. We hope this helps!
@@HennaSooq First I did Indigo alone (now I know that was wrong). Second I did 50:50 henna:indigo, got a VERY light orangey brown; 3 days later I did straight indigo again, this time much darker, but my grays are still somewhat resistant. Do I include the 50:50 mix on subsequent monthly applications, or straight indigo? Thanks!
@@itsawonderfulrvlife I'd recommend 50/50 in the first step and then indigo alone and which henna and indigo are you using from us as well? It'll eventually catch up but do use our Soapnut Hair Wash to clarify and open your hair up. Color your hair and then use our restorative conditioner afterwards
DID I USE TOO MUCH? I just received my products and on the page it said to use 150-175 grams of Henna to mix. I asked Alexa how many cups and used 1 1/3 which took about the whole bag. Was this accurate ? Or could I have gotten away with using less to make it last for possibly for a touch up later?
I’m allergic to indigo. I’m looking for something else that can give me the black. Is there something else natural out there that can give the same effect of indigo? I’m stubborn and still use indigo but it hurt me when ever I use it. 😢
Use a mask when mixing/ applying indigo. If possible, open windows or even mix and apply outside. Maybe try to see if wearing a mask, etc, might help? I don't know of another powder that can replace indigo.

washed it out, my hair is dark brown (original color) and my baby hairs are dark reddish brown (new)
I think I made the indigo:henna ratio too small, but that's alright, though it's too late to do the 2nd step so I'll do that tomorrow
did it! indigo on day 2, i only rinsed out the henna on day 1. it wasnt blue-black, but it looks like natural black hair. if jagua works faster for blue-black, maybe ill try that sometime. im not going to do more work for this indigo, though, especially with short hair that will cut off most of the dye every few months. im glad it worked!
I am trying the two step process today. Will report back after the last steps is done.
@@TM12719 sounds like so far so good. Can't wait to hear about your final results. Did you take before and after photos?
Results are in. After the 2nd step, pure indigo, my hair is a noticeably darker, deeper, cooler, brown black. It looks blue black indoors. Outdoors, it shows dark dark brown (almost red) in direct light. I’d say this is a success. I will keep repeating with pure indigo a few times to see how it builds over time. I am thinking maybe monthly for now. Hopefully I can achieve a blue black. If I do, I will update here.
@@HennaSooq I did! The results look much better in person, but photos capture the new deepens and darkness. Can’t wait to see how it builds up color.

Thank you so much for the inspiring work you do! A quick question: Do you ever mix henna with vinegar? I don't remember anymore where I read that this supposedly helps with stubborn hair...Not sure it works though, my hair does not give up that easily ...
Hello. You can mix it with apple cider vinegar. You can refer to this guide to help you along the way: hennasooq.com/blogs/frontpage/complete-guide-how-to-color-your-hair-with-henna-and-indigo/
thank you for the vid!

Hello. Henna hair dye lasts 4-6 weeks but depends on hair growth.
After the grey hair grows again we need to do the same steps again, first henna and after 2-3 days apply the indigo? Thank you
Hello. Please make sure to do indigo within 72 hours of henna application (right after or next day included). Indigo does not always work the first time and repeated application(s) may be necessary.

How about for root touch ups once you’ve achieved your desired black tone?? Same steps every 4-6weeks?
Hello. Yes!
I've been waiting for this one, thank you Khadijah 🤗
Hope you like it!
Hello! Which henna did you use?
I’m in Canada. Choices in my area are limited. Using Radico color me organic soft black. Would using just natural henna tone down the purple. It’s not purple all over, just near front where there are greys. Noticed that the store also carried Colora Henna. Never used that one before. I looked at your product but trying to avoid shipping fees.
Do you have videos on showing other colors, showing from the beginning of dying the hair to after washed out? it would be nice to also see a video on how it works on black women natural hair showing different hair dye colors such a as black, red, gold, brown.
Hello. You can check out our UA-cam channel. We have a lot of videos regarding that matter.
Hi Khadijah, I have a query. How to get purple to vine hair colour with henna?
So I have greys snd the two step process works great for me. But today I did the two step process again and everywhere I had grey my hair turned green. What do I do to fix this?
Hello! You may need to color with henna and indigo again. For it to come out green means your henna didn’t work. Which henna and indigo are you using from us?
And the moisture powder. Where can i get that?😊

Should you not mix them with water in the same bowl? They should sit alone before mixing them together?
You should mix this separately then and then combine
Very useful video! Can I add a fresh blended aloe vera leaf to it instead of the powder?
Thank you
How do i get the co wash cleanser. My hair and scalp drys out profusely 😢😢
Hello. You can check our brand here: hennasooq.com/
Can we do the same steps with Indian henna and indigo??
yes absolutely. :)
@@HennaSooq even if it says we should let it for 6-8 hours?
Hello. Yes, it'll look fine.
OMG. Great, informative video! Question- instead of Aloe Vera powder, can I use Aloe Vera juice? Thanks 😘
Hello. Yes, heated aloe vera juice is preferred.
I love your passion. I am curious: what is the reasoning behind leaving it no longer than three days between step one and two?
The orangey color will set in, hindering the black tones from coming in and stay bright orange.
Hi Khadijah. Quick question, would you recommend storing any the used but not finished powders in the refrigerator?
Hello. Yes, you can place it in the fridge for 5-7 days. Please use within 7 days of being made (if kept in the fridge). If you have any leftovers you can freezer for up to 6 months.
Can I add amla powder instead of aloe Vera powder?
Yes, you can to maintain curl patterns but for moisture, we recommend adding aloe vera powder.
5:20 starts
How long should we wait between the 1st step of Henna/indigo blend...to the 2nd step of just indigo (to get black hair)?
I have sisterlocs. How long is too long to let stay in hair before rinsing?
Hello. 3-4 hours only
Can this be done in one step as I have faded purple and brown in the bottom half of my hair?
Hello! Sorry we require a two-step process with this to achieve this kind of color.

Hi Khadijah. I've got a question. If you want to go brown, how long do you leave the henna in your hair for? Also, do you have to wait three days to wash your hair after the application? I have also seen people making brown colour with coffee mixed with henna. Please can you do a video on what I've mentioned?

Hello. Yes, If the dye isn't released properly, it can leave weak spots that fade over time and give you colors you don't want.
can i mix it with an electric wisk?
2 step is only one that works for me. Dark brown hair with gray. Only henna makes my hair not fall out like chemical hair dyes.
that's so good to hear about lack of hair loss and also that you found a method that works for you. Nice!!

Hello. All of our henna hair dye products cover grey. What you purchase depends on what hair color you want. Have you decided which tone you’d like to achieve? You can check out products that cover greys here: hennasooq.com/collections/grey-coverage
Thoughts?

Why can't you dye once a week rather than every 4 weeks? What is wrong with coloring this way more often?
Hello. Henna tends to deepen and mature over time. Waiting for about 4 weeks allows the color to fully develop and settle.
My hair came out a navy blue, and the gray is a little lighter almost purple. Is it possible to make it a brown at this point?
Hello. When you use indigo you can get reddish brown or brown or dark brown or even up to black tones.

I think the allergic reaction is with contact on her skin/scalp.
Use amla
