If you allow the indigo to oxidize and develop that purplish metallic sheen she pointed out BEFORE applying it, you'll lose most of the dye's ability to PERMANENTLY dye the hair. It will temporarily dye the hair black but you will notice that it starts washing out nearly immediately and a couple of weeks to three weeks later, it's gone. Mix indigo with room temp to warm water (not hot, never boiling) and apply IMMEDIATELY. It takes about 20 mins to oxidize (that purple metallic sheen) and you want that to happen AFTER it's already in your hair for the darkest, longest lasting color. Only mix as much indigo as you can apply in 20 mins. (I can apply 100 grams of indigo in 20 mins.) Apply it and then mix more if needed. I need approximately 450 g of indigo to cover my hair and so I mix five separate batches that I apply immediately after mixing.

Amla is acidic enough to cause dye release and is significantly less harsh and drying on the hair than lemon juice. It will also push henna from reddish orange to a russet or brownish red color. Add 3-4 TBS of amla powder per 100 grams of henna and just use plain water as your liquid. Amla also boosts curls and waves and volumizes. Lastly, it strengthens the hair follicles. It is much better for the hair compared to lemon juice.

This video just showed up in my feed. I started letting my gray hair grow out about 5 years ago ( I was 48 at the time) because I didn't want to keep dying it. The gray is going to return. There is nothing that is going to get rid of it permanently, so we may as well embrace it. For me, four or more hours is a lot of time to cover up gray hair that is going to pop back out in a week or two. It is not worth it to me. The sooner we embrace the natural flow of aging and stop trying to prevent it because the world says gray means old, the more time we will have for more important things.

I've been using henna for many years. I'd advise you to leave out the lemon juice, it's way too drying to Afro hair. No need to add anything other than warm water to henna. And make sure to use a moisturising deep conditioner afterwards. Using you recipe could cause a lot of breakage.

I have never used lemon or anything acidic to release color with henna..
I’m a very pale blonde girl with very fine hair, and used to color my hair with henna..
I used very warm ( about 85 degrees Celsius ) water to mix in first...
to get it more deep I added red wine and sometimes a intense colorbomb type thing... and my hair always reached a deep intense red color...
When adding lemon you are actually developing a lighter red than the henna is capable off...
When coloring white hair to black the hair needs yellow, orange and red pigments to build up the depth...
You get that by leaving the indigo on for longer, but have you tried other formulations??
Henna is kinda forgiving like that - what you mix in will effect the outcome...
Lemon wil lighten - water will color true - red wine will deepen the red and coffee will turn it redishbrown....
And in my experience there is no need to wait - the pigment will not give more or less - the only outcome of waiting is a smoother creamier substance...
But that said - the color looks amazing and you reach your desired result - so it obviously works for you...
Just wanted to maybe give you some tips you could use if you wanted to :)

    • @kylettasaney2557

So if u want brown just use plain henna than coffee

    • @sabinahertzum9728
      @sabinahertzum9728 Рік тому

@@kylettasaney2557 depends on the henna type - if its one that Said to be Brown, then yeah - but if its red orangy then coffee would only deepen the color a bit…
Henna does exits in different colors, from yellowish to Black - so getting the right one is important…
But other than that - your natural color and hairtype Can have an impact on what the henna Will do in your Hair…
My issue is that my Hair is naturally really blonde and very very fine - so the henna held Way better in my Hair than any other red color - and i really wanted a cool red, so i Got the most deep red i could, and mixed it as mentioned above - but even then, i needed to recolor every 3-4 weeks, just because my Hair didnt hold on to the color very Well….
The only color that stays in my Hair is a deep Brown or Black…

  • @scherokee30

A lot of hair stylists in the U.S say that henna is bad for the hair. Henna dye contains metals in it. It dries out the hair and you cannot dye your hair with any other brand of hair dye. Doing so can cause hair breakage. I used henna for a short minute. It also turns the hair a brassy brown silver color after so many washes. I eventually let it grow out and got rid of the henna by trimming my ends and my hair grew out.

100% pure henna is safe to use but not the henna haircolors or henna shampoos. Pure henna might make the hair dry if it’s used quite often, but that’s not an issue if you apply hair oils once it a while. And about the dyeing hair that’s true. You can’t dye your hair with haircolor if you have applied henna recently as it can cause chemical reaction. But all in all natural henna is not harmful for hair, I’ve been using it for years and it’s totally safe😊

Easiest way to save time is:
    1. Mix henna with water and keep it for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
    2. Then apply it to the hair and keep it for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Then wash the hair with only water.
    3. Then mix indigo powder with water and apply to hair IMMEDIATELY (after mixing) and keep it for 1 hour. Then wash it with only water.
Totally, 3 hours and no heavy shampooing after that.. have a oil bath after 1 or 2 days...

Ruby Tuesday Actually, EVERY hair gets white, not gray. The white is caused by a lack of colour, it only appears gray because there are hairs with colour in them and white hairs mixed, overall that mixture appears grayish.

I did this and after about 3 days most of the black from the amla was gone and I was left with ugly spotty orange hair. Even after 1 day the black would fade and the orange would be visible in random areas. If you have lots of time on your hands, than by all means waste your time with this. It will keep you busy. After going through this process I did regret even touching my hair in the first place. Because the henna is permanent and makes the hair an awful red color, there is no other option but to cut the hair. I'm pretty sure you'll realize that your current hair color isn't so bad after going through this. The smell is enough to make me not want to do it. No offense to the Praise Onaturals. You seem like lovely person. I just had to post on my own experience.

I have been using henna for several years now and it works fantastic HOWEVER ,I notice each time I would get a headache but I thought it was from having the plastic wrap on too tight or from sleeping wrong ....Anyways, since i only use it about twice a year i just dismissed it until YESTERDAY, ....I dyed my hair with the henna and kept it on for 4 hours and I got the worse headache I have in my life....So i will never use it again...This is a great product for those who are not allergic to it...

Ok first for those who are doubting, let me tell you that this works, why? Because my aunt and uncle use the hena to cover their white hair and just with that their hair looks amazing,it all depends on how white the hair is,theirs are more like gray so their hair looks like they did some kind of light brown highlights 👌 and even if they don't use the indigo,I have seen people who did and it worked for them, but nevertheless this isn't permanent, you have to keep doing it just like you do when you dye your hair, although there's no chemicals in this option, but once again this is NOT permanent😔 once your hair grows bye bye black hair😅😣😧 I guess what really helps is to eat lots antioxidant food, that should keep not only your hair looking better but your entire body😉 but you can try this it really does work...for a while😅

Put some aloe powder and amla powder into it like a half a tablespoon of each depending on henna amount. Do not use any lemon or apple cider vinegar or anything like that. There’s no need. Dye will be released. Just mix with hot not boiling water. If you want extra extra moisture then make up some very thin liquid flaxseed gel. Strain and use that as your liquid. Also warm when mixing it in. Even if your hair still feels dry. Use a deep conditioner. Your hair should get back it’s moisture plus you will have the henna benefits.

Henna still acts as a chemical, you have to be very careful with it. I applied it three separate times in a year and my hair fell out just like with regular dye. I thought it was all natural and safe to use on natural hair. Take caution doing two back to back applications. It’ll weaken (over process) your hair like a box color.
