I started a new game (not NG+) running this build, it's amazing, night comet is silly good! Only thing I found tricky was that I couldn't use a somber weapon due to the Glintblade Phalanx ash of war. Just needed some more regular smithing stones farming. That said, even without access to all of the talismans until late-game, this build still slaps.

Hmm imo, when i played this game at first, the first run is always make ur own builds, bcs for proper build u need enough level to fill the stats, also the gear had minimum stats requirement
Using a variation of this build for the DLC focused on parrying and using the misericorde for massive damage, hoping to switch out the rapier for one of the new light greatswords as the moveset looks super fun. Great guide!
I am just now playing elden ring and this is the build that I am going to use. I am not going to copy it 1 for 1 because I don't have all the things yet. But the idea of this build is fun and versatile. With this guide I also realised you can infuse certain weapons with affinities... Didn't know that before and just throught you could only use a couple of good weapons per stat.
An updated version of this build can be made now that the dlc is out, you can switch the rapier to the Carrien sorcery sword and use a shield (or the staff of loss as well) in the off hand.
Hey great guide and tips! Im trying this build but I cant stagger bosses. Not sure what Im doing wrong...... I locked my self out of the magic scorpion charm. Thanks

I'm rather new to the game, so i don't understand all the mechanics and bits, but why is there no AoW or ice/magic on the staff? Is it not possible, would it be not viable?
You can always have the Scepter equipped in the second slot and use Knowledge above all to further boost magic damage 10 percent for 60 seconds. It is a unique buff/debuff so it can stack with anything. It can also be cast really fast once it runs out. Not bad damage either and with this being a posture break build, hammer charged R2 is always good to have available.
This is awesome man. I went through ER a few times abut 9 months ago. Recently got a PS5 and just started a play through today. Never did a sorcerer build. I’m stealing every bit of this build. Thanks for keeping it fresh
This is gonna be my next sorcerer build! Will Rogier's rapier do as well? He gives it to you with a +8 upgrade AND with Glintblade Phalanx already on it....
Love the build. I’m having a blast with it. I’m wondering if this build changes at all going into NG+ and beyond? Is it pretty much the same or what kinds of things have you played with to make this better going into the DLC?
What stats should I start leveling up after I caught up with the stats used in the video? This build was amazing in my second playthrough of Elden Ring.
I have a variation using more glintblade crafting and a a magic crossbow for sleep proc for more crit. As well as both mist spells for dot on sleeping or stamce broken enemies. Also i actually run the night stealth spells for openworld pvp im literally a ghost
I was actually working on a character running something similar to this. Starting as a prisoner with the mentality of them being a carian assassin who failed to slay their mark before their banishment and death. And holding quite the grudge against the golden order in general for the long march.
Update: im played the DLC and realize this build is INT Magic heavy, because some DLC encounter have a greatly magic damage negation, im advise to change the weapon for dual halberd or dual spear (for more range) and grind a bit to make str+20 for dual halberd. The stats keep following this guide, but for weapon (dual halberd or dual spear), use keen affinity or any affinity rather than magic/holy. Also, adjust your talisman a bit. In the DLC area, some encounter have massive magic damage & they have magic damage negation also. So best advice to use spelldrake Talisman.
I tried and this build and it is just AWESOME. The right balance between melee and range I was looking for. I just didn't like being just sorcerer, needed to get into the fight. I also like the fact you are using cold to stagger, love it. Thanks for sharing.

I would increase some stamina too, but it's nothing that's really necessary. Dumb question. How do I do the cold infusion and the ash of war on the same weapon?
I'm sure you figured it out by now but if anyone's wondering you need to get the Glintstone Whetblade from Raya Lucaria.
If you're in NG+, you have the option to wield two Staffs of Loss simultaneously in each hand, resulting in amplified damage.

how do you make the rapier cold affinity?
Nice build here for once! Dumb question : Why no Misericorde for crit ? it got 140 while the rapier has 130, and the requirements aren't higher
maybe because of the range of Rapier which is higher than the misericorde since it's "only" a dagger.?
I think you should do a strength arcane build with mogwyn spear that weapon is very op
