I had one, and he had more intelligence and better manners than half the people I know. I love all breeds, but for me this is the one that's the smartest and best friend.
My Russian Blue was a wonderful companion and a perfect gentleman. Intelligent, loving, playful, sensitive to my needs, took to the lead and harness like a duck to water, travelled happily in the car, friendly with visitors and other cats (except one), good with dogs - a lovely, lovely cat. He passed away aged 15 and I miss him very much. A very special cat indeed.
Smokey is a rescue cat, he lives with me now. A friend found him about seven year back. He had to be rehomed when friend and his wife moved to a small apartment. Smokey is afraid of men, my friend couldn't get near him, but he loved to snuggle with my friend's wife. I was the only man they ever saw Smokey greet and then let pet him. I pet-sat for him, and Lady their dog, while they did vacations. Although Smokey would still avoid me, he'd come out from hiding to eat while I was there as long as I didn't approach. Seven months living with him now and we're just now starting to break the ice. He hasn't allowed me to touch him since the day I brought him home but has come within a foot of an offered hand. In fact, for the first four months he hid in the basement (as he is now) and the only way I knew that he hadn't escaped the house is that his dish would empty and his deposits in the litter. I had to move his food and water near my chair just to force him to socialize. I'll look over and talk to him (here he is now) as he eats and he seem to tolerate that well. Then I'd start noticing that if I wasn't paying attention he'd suddenly be three feet from me staring at me, until I moved and then "The Shadow" would streak away. Then three minutes later he'd be nonchalantly sauntering back for more food. I haven't seen any mice this season. My guy is on the job. But now I know that we are partners. The other day I came home and he was sleeping on my bed. I think we are going to be OK.
My Russian Blue x Tonkinese was the most beautiful boy inside & out. He was very intelligent & would devise interesting games to amuse himself including doing circuits of the kitchen on top of the cupboards & doors; and pulling a ball on elastic I attatched to the back of the chair to its full extent & letting it go, then trotting back to repeat again & again. He was far more inventive than any of my other cats & had a dry sense of humour. He LOVED tuna & grilled fish from the fish & chip shop & was very determined to get any but in a very polite manner, he was an absolute gentleman. He was also the best adoptive mother to two 3 week old kittens & took great care of them especially the runt who kept almost dying. Those kittens have just turned 15yo! Mishka lived to 13.5yo and is still sadly missed, he was a very special boy indeed. 😺💙🥰
I have one and I call him my "blokey bloke" and he is the perfect gentleman. Well-mannered and highly intelligent. I hope e lives to be a very, very, very old man. ♥️
I had a cat with Russian Blue heritage. She had all the characteristics except for a long while dash under her neck. She just appeared in my living room one day. I suspect a breeder dropped her off in our neighborhood because she wasn't all grey. She was the best rescue cat I ever had. Affectionate, playful, a real gentle little lady.
My darling Russian Blues brothers are the best! So true about the food. They like a strict schedule for their morning and evening meals. They get treats mid-day and before bedtime. Sweet and loving, great manners and I love them so much!
Sweet, smart blue, Jerry, was rescued by me along with his companion, Ben. When I met them at the shelter, they were in the same cage and I knew they needed to be together. Jerry was the younger, and Ben had been there since he was young. As long as they were together, they were fine. But Jerry was healthier. When Ben passed, Jerry went with him not long after. I cried for a very long time after.
I had a mixed Russian Blue/Ragdoll. She had so many wonderful Russian Blue traits, like the coloring, the beautiful face, eyes, upturned mouth, intelligence, loyalty. But she also had the long, beautiful Ragdoll coat. She was so easy to train, walked with me on a harness and leash, and seemed to love to learn new tricks. She absolutely loved people, other cats, and had a few dog friends in the neighborhood. Best cat I've ever lived with!
I had a Russian Blue cat years ago. And now I have another Russian blue (stray cat) I've been feeding since he was a kitten. He is very loving, so gentle, he is quite handsome indeed! His fur feels like velvet, and he loves to purr. I named him Boudine.
My Russian blue is a rescue from an abusive home. She behaves like a princess and has the most delicate and graceful personality and is so sweet and gentle and perfect
Most people who have owned a solid grey domestic cat think there's is a Russian blue, however the majority aren't including a lot of these photos like 7:48 and 9:39, 10:59 etc. They never have white patches or longer fur.
I still have one RussianBlue- female and 18 years old. Lost my male a year ago and still miss him like crazy. This breed is unbelievable. Clean, quiet (except when demanding something) obedient (born as if they understand commands) loyal, and so sweet. Their green eyes will mesmerize you at every glance. I have had cats all my life and i am now in my 70's. I decided i wanted a full bred cat and ended up with two, though very expensive. But oh so worth it. Obsessed with these cats, and have been my companions for so long, many moves. They will dictate your schedule, bedtime, wake up, meals, access to certain places etc. They are relentless. I call mine my alarmcat as she will not give up when she wants me up and exactly at 6:10 every morning. They will let you know when their litter box is unsuitable for them; and they pee in one box and poo poo in another. When walking by, they will reach out to touch your foot to let you know they are there. They ride my shoulders while I cook, get ready for work; fetch and store leaves behind a door (only supervised outings for mine) Love a hot environment and high places. Where ever you are they are there unless enjoying sunshine on a porch. Adoration for them to the hilt.... thanks for this video!
What a good video. I especially like all the advice on proper maintenance, health care, and training. That will help new cat guardians to give the little fellows the best possible life. I really love Russian Blues, I have always wanted one. But no luck so far. I will never get a cat from a breeder, not with so many of the little sweeties living on the streets or in shelters, needing a home. Oh well, maybe one day I'll get lucky and can add a Russian Blue to the gang.
Our granddaughter has a full blooded Russian Blue cat named, Moby, and he is as they describe. He has a wonderful personality and is very loving and very intelligent! His thick coat does not shed much. He is a very muscular cat and loves to be around people.
I have a Russian Blue myself, and she's very talkative and very clingy. As soon as I sit down or lie down, she wants to get right on my lap immediately lol. Then will start kneading me for at least 10 minutes. But unlike what this video says, she doesn't like other cats and not very friendly with my other cat. How I found her: I kidnapped her LOL. About 10 years ago, she used to come visit my mom's backyard a lot. Did she have an owner, I don't know, but she would spend a lot of time roaming around my mom's house. I even had a friend living with my mom at the time, and she would secretly let that cat in from time to time. Then my mom moved out of that house, and about a couple months later, I came back to that house to ask the new owners if they were keeping her. When they told me they weren't, they allowed me to take her. And here she still is. lol
I have 2 adopted Russian Blues, mother (Mama Gillian) & daughter (Pyewacket). I call them my little house panthers! They exhibit all the wonderful qualities you mentioned. They keep this, now disabled, "cat lady" delightful, jolly company. I believe they really can sense when I'm having a "down" day & do everything to cheer me. I used to do rescue work & firmly believe in adopting, never shopping. Just discovered your channel, thanks for all the wonderful, useful info! Michelle & Kitties
I have a gorgeous Russian blue named Ashlee she is super sweet ,smart and follows me all over the house and she likes to play fetch and catches paper balls:) she's super loyal and she's very vocal with me:)
I suspect mine is a DSH who happens to resemble a RBC. Nevertheless, her fur gives off a subtle lavender hue when she's in the sun (which is often). Hence her name, Violet.
I have two a brother and sister and they are two of the smartest cats I’ve ever had. I had a Siberian Forest cat and a Manx who were very intelligent but my male Russian Blue is the smartest I think I’ve encountered 😊
Er you've mixed the pictures of the Russian blue (green eyes) with British shorthair they have golden eyes! I have new Russian blue kitten..... so enjoyed this . thanks
Next breed: My surgeon had a wonderful Burmese cat in his office I fell in love with 50 years ago. I'm wondering how the breed has developed in this time.
When I had to bathe our Russian blue cat, (it got very dirty once in a garage) I used Dr Bronner's pure caslile liquid soap. It is organic, and the most gentle and non-toxic considering that the cat will lick itself. I highly recommend it. Don't use the peppermint, as the cat might find that scent too strong. (🌹I used rose 🌹 but could as easily have used🌸 Lavender 🌸)
RB cats noses and paw pads are not the same colour, they have very dark grey nose with mauve paw pads, I have owned several of this breed ,some other traits you are not quite right on either.
My boy is half blue half korat he looks just like a korat! Korats are gods says thailand ! I tell him hes a god which makes him happy! My boys sister died from the korat neuro paralysis disease so i must get my boy genetically tested! His temperment is korat! Hes jealous like a korat and doesnt like being alone! Very curious outgoing with strangers like korats! Hes very vocal! He doesnt tolerate other male cats! He follows me everywhere is very intelligent! Korats are gods says thailand so korats arent bred with other cats! Korats want variety in their diet! Since hes a preemie and korat he has obese issues! Hes not hypoallergenic! He has to have a special diet regular cat food he cant tolerate!he was abused so i got him unexpectedly when he was 6 weeks old! And got him for free!Korats dont tolerate vax well so hell remain indoors! Plus my neighbors have 5 dogs some arent cat friendly! Korats are rare so even half breed can be expensive to purchase! We literally saved each other!
I had a terrific Russian but he developed kidney disease at 8 and the vet had to put him to sleep. It was a real loss. He was the most prodigious hunter and presented me with freshly slaughtered live stock every day without fail!
I had one, and he had more intelligence and better manners than half the people I know. I love all breeds, but for me this is the one that's the smartest and best friend.

Ginger cats are also very desirable. I have had both.
I have 2 blue 3yr old sisters! I have had alot of cats in my life but blues are truly special 😊❤

I have two RB brothers. The best breed, very affectionate, playful and such a beautiful cat.

I have a 4 month old Russian blue.She's my first cat ever💕💕💕
Enjoy!
Same here! 5 months and first ever!!
You will become obsessed with their personality and loyalty! No other like a Russian Blue.

There are several British Blues featured here too.

Cute...so adorable, reminds me of my cat 'Stormy' in heaven, he was a huge Russian Blue/green eyes.
My Russian blue is a rescue from an abusive home. She behaves like a princess and has the most delicate and graceful personality and is so sweet and gentle and perfect
I’m pretty sure she’s Siberian or Scandinavian bc she’s smaller, darker, and has a more “elegant” appearance than my other Russian blue

I have a Russian blue mix she’s definitely my best friend, we hang out all the time both at home and out and about
mine is adorable and very intelligent

I’m a Russian blue and can confirm this is TRUE 😂😂😂
Talk about Calicos next please
Hi I’m Russian Blue Nagi 😻
Next breed: My surgeon had a wonderful Burmese cat in his office I fell in love with 50 years ago. I'm wondering how the breed has developed in this time.
His name was Timber Wolf and I had a throw back Pomeranian and they protected each other
Hmmm. Nice video
:)
Lots of information in a short video, I like it!
Cute
I love my kitten
I had a Russian Blue that weighed 18#s and stretched out to 3 '
When I had to bathe our Russian blue cat, (it got very dirty once in a garage) I used Dr Bronner's pure caslile liquid soap. It is organic, and the most gentle and non-toxic considering that the cat will lick itself.
I highly recommend it. Don't use the peppermint, as the cat might find that scent too strong. (🌹I used rose 🌹 but could as easily have used🌸 Lavender 🌸)

It’s hard to know if you have a Russian Blue if you got him from a shelter,
Despite the fact you seem to have done quite a research on RB cats, there are a lot of NON-Russian Blue cats being shown in your video....
❤❤😊
my goodness, why is the sound so bad? Can't you record that again? It's really impossible to listen to...
And lived 12 years old
Henry
He weighed 18 #s

Adopt. And shop! They're all worthy of love and there are valid reasons for doing both.
