My wife and I just recently lost our 16 year old pure Russian blue and we haven't stopped crying yet. His name was fiddy and he was the most beautiful and best cat we have ever owned. We are looking for another Russian blue now..
There can never be another cat as handsome as the Russian blue. Years ago I met a little guy freezing and starving by the roadside. He couldn’t have been more than 6 weeks old at the time. My own circumstances were not lending to a fiesty kitten so I took him to my sister's house and he was loved! By the entire family, for years. But she let him go outside to keep mice away and never had him neutered. Dozens of his babies and grandbabies are still in her neighborhood. Lord Grey, however, will never be duplicated. So fate got me an orange tom kitty now! He's strictly an indoors cat and neutered, my little lion, Azlan 👑 ✨️
My sister got one as a kitten about 3 years ago. She got mad because her cat always wanted to be with me and followed me and slept with me(unless my sister closed her door, but Freya would scratch at the door til I snuck her out) I started taking her to the garage and side yard with me and she loved it. My sister was young and didn’t always have food and water for her so I made sure to take care of Freya. Got an auto feeder and one of those water bowls that whips the water and keeps it clean. I moved away and just returned 3 months ago after being gone about 2 years. My sister had moved out and sent her cat back home after I got here. Freya now follows me around outside, is getting more comfortable with my German shepherd who’s a total sweetheart and she is an expert hunter. It took her a bit to get the hang of it but she’s figured it out. She super smart and the chillest cat. When I’m gone for weekends, my mom puts her in the garage with a way outside and she just does her own thing, doesn’t come inside unless I’m inside. I’m a dog dude but she’s making me a cat lover lol. The lap sits she gives me for about a minute or 2 tops make me stop what I’m doing and just give her attention and sometimes that’s what I need. Russian blues are super cool cats
Childhood friend had one. To this day, one of my most cherished moments with a cat I ever had. He was lovely and always ran up to me to greet me and get petted. One of the most gentle cat I've ever been around 😊
Pay attention to your cats. Especially these ones and you will have an amazing bond. I didnt have a phone for 2 years. Best 2 years of my life. With the start of my bond with my cat. Take the time away from things that dont matter. Pay attention to your cats.
My parents had a Russian blue cat from 1984 to his passing in 1998. He was a demon mouser. His name was Pooter. He was a great cat and I still miss him after all these years. 🐈⬛👑✌️🖖
My blue is really beautiful, affectionate and smart, he has been with me since he was three weeks old and in August he will turn twelve years old. I believe this breed would be a good pet for a single adult. 👩🏻
I have one of these furbags! They truly dont shed much, are independent, love times of affection and play, then, they're done. Off to privacy and a nap. Theyre also very smart, and learn quickly. If you get one, get involved, interactive toys, and make a "find it" game when giving treats. If you have a single cat, be sure to provide a lot of interesting things to do in your absence. A scratching post and cat tree are also wise choices. The only downsides: Keep an eye on their teeth, anal glands, and digestion. Monitor these, keep ahead of any problems, and you should be fine. Dont smoke anything, use air fresheners, oils, incense or wax cubes. Their respiratory systems are touchy. If you live in a cold climate, a thermal pad is a good idea-they tend to get cold. Overall, a smart, affectionate, funny companion, who talks, but doesn't yowl, and when they want you, they want you NOW! 🐱
Ours is a mix with a touch of calico. I am russian- Ukrainian and we take a while to let ppl in.but we love with our hearts. This cat is the same. Lol She ll spend a bit of time but not much. She ll talk to me but then she is done. She ll sleep on my daughter's legs but don't touch her! So weird. She is Russian lol . My hubby brought a tabby calico and she is so loving! If you leave the room she ll scream and run for you. Just makes me realize how independent Blue is lol .
LOVE our Russin Blue ! He is 13 . Named him Spanky. He was found in a taped up box on the side of a highway ....only 5 weeks old. Fed him goat milk from a doll bottle. He grew wonderfully healthy. Smart, and so much fun to have around! We hope to have him for many years to come! Thanks for the great video on his heritage! Rob and Deb in AZ....USA
Shadow and his father were the best Russian blues. Leroy who is shadows grandson and Hugo’s great grandson is a gentleman. May Allah bless all cats especially Russian blues
My Blu has CH and has several obstacles in life so far. I love him to peices. I think he acts like a puppy. He follows us around during the day and sleeps the entire night on our bed. Fur is low maintenance. He is quiet. He is an aggressive eater. I love on him often but he'd prefer I cut back. He does seem really shy around strangers!
My Cody is a blue. He is very vocal and adamant whenever his human servant (me) is not doing her job which is anything he deems needing to be done. He even complains when step-sister Penny is hungry even if he's not. He keeps me humble and I adore him. 🐈⬛🥰 💖
My Russian blue doesn’t rly like playing but she LOVES snuggling me, and me alone. I would definitely describe her as clingy on occasion. She doesn’t seem to have a lot of predatory behavior or tendencies, she’s bored and disinterested when I dangle cat toys and would rather just chill in her little shelf, sleeping on the blanket i knitted for her. She knows how to manipulate you into cuddling her too so she’s very smart (she curls herself into a tight ball, rubs her head on the ground like she’s trying to pet herself, looks directly in your eyes and softly meows. You can’t not pet her it’s too precious). And if you don’t cuddle or pet her for an adequate amount of time she get mad.
I have a senior male Russian Blue and this is pretty right on. We adopted him from our local SPCA, and we love him! He's calm, sweet, and a very good boy ❤ he loves to eat and get head scratches. He doesn't like strangers or loud noises, and when he's feeling shy or just wants a quiet spot on his own, he loves to go under my bed, sit on his towel, and just have a quiet space to himself. He doesn't seem to like the bed we got him ( he just peed on it), and is VERY fussy about his litterbox. His fur is very soft, and I used to be extremely allergic to cats, but he doesn't bother my allergies at all. He can be very talkative at times, and, after over a year of us having him, he now comes when we call him. Overall, I would highly recommend a Russian Blue if your home is calm and any children are taught to be gentle with them and give them their independence. ❤❤❤
I have one of these beautiful cats, named Cosmo. He’s not purebred but there are certain things I’ve noticed with him that we’re not common in my other cats. First of all he doesn’t purr but loves cuddling to an extent. I also play fetch with him and he loves it! I’ve never had a cat that will play fetch. He’s a year old and so much fun!! Thanks for the great video!
I got my 12 week old russian blue cat two weeks ago. It is a wonderful cat. It is scary intelligent for a cat. Like figuring out in no time that the laser pointer is the thing that makes the light point it likes to hunt and asking for playtime by going to that thing and tapping it with its paw. I had no idea that cats could have such a level of understanding.
If you work with it now you can leash train it using a harness to talk it for walks. Our Shadow loves going for walks. & it’s easier on her to go to the vet on a leash than it is a crate. She HATES being crated for any length of time.
...my late wife & I rescued a stray that seemed to be a Russian Blue/angora mix (long hair & yellow-green eyes) had him for prolly 15 or 16 years until earlier this year...he was extremely affectionate - more dog like in that way - loved to snuggle with his daddy - and sneak out when I let the dogs out in the evening...I miss the little bugger...
I got my Russian blue at a shelter. Please check there first before you buy one. He does great with my tuxedo cat. Unfortunately, he loves to eat and he's he's gotten overweight and has diabetes.
$400-$600 to purchase one? Not anymore - twenty plus years ago, yes. Not today (2024). Add another 1400-1600 dollars for a pet quality purebred (not for show).
Its pretty insane that they can cost 400-600 , i havent tested Larry yet but im 99% certain hes pure bred and i got him for free at a pound. He was completely abadoned and the owner had no clue he was a Russian Blue. Larry is the best cat ive ever had! So pretty and distinguished
I've been contemplating whether a dog or cat would be a good fit for me lately. With my job, it's leaning towards cats, but I'm not necessarily a cat person...That was until I came across this beauty and fell in love! It's those eyes and that beautiful fur 😍 Now I'm wanting to learn all I can before I get one 🥹🐈⬛💕
I think I had one I could not live my room to go upstairs to my bestfriend’s room he would holler until I come back to my room like a woh woh sound lol omg he stressed me out it was bad
In England upwards of £2000.00. I got mine for free when I adopted him not realising how massive he would become. Marvel is 18 months old and already 8kgs with what the cat clinic tells me....... More time to grow 🤦♂ 😆 He is wonderful and this video says it all 100%. So glad I came across you all, just lovely.
Alli can tell you is that my cat, Shorty is easily the best cat, i mean the best there has ever been, the best there is now and the best there ever will be. anybody that doesn't wholeheartedly agree 100% is a grey racist, doesn't know what they are thinking and is a terrible cat dad. He is pure frigging grey, i know what i got
Our Russian Blue, named Bailey, is the best cat ever! I wasn’t into cats but this cat is awesome! No, really, he’s awesome! The only warning I can give people over 60 is if you’re laying on your back in bed and you feel a pressure on your chest, it’s probably your Russian Blue sitting on you wanting to be fed in the early morning. Once you hear the purring then you’ll know it’s not a heart attack.

They have a very different fur texture than other cats. Short softest fur, that feels like a plushy toy with an addition of a silky feeling

My wife got me a blue and he doesn’t shut up😂 I love my Nipsey. He is me trapped in a cats body.
If his full name is not Nipsey Nuzzle i riot. 😂
Does your cat make a lot of meows and also sing song sounds, not quite like Siamese but similar? The one Ì know does that, remarkable sounds.

Is it okay to play accordion near them, I don't play it so much (rarely)?
Why its considered BLUE when it's ACTUALLY GREY.
Because it’s the shade of grey that has blue tones
If 2 RB's have babies they would be RB. But if a RB mated with a different breed they would have mutts??
What happens when they have baby’s
Korats are God's u don't breed them with other cats purposefully that's why korats are so rare!
