Andy..
Great to see back on the Bench!!!
I will be getting this one for sure!
Also I want to say as well. I Thank you for all you have done me and us modelers thur the years!!
Your Fan!!
Bill
Outstanding work Andy.
Now I would love to see a retooled American halftrack.
Fantastic ! Build Tamiya has such great detail in their kits
Great kit and great build.
I think the Soviet version with those figures, some of whom appear to have Asiatic faces, is really awesome and the one I would personally go for.
You should cut the decals on the door seams. That way the doors would look like they were actually able to be opened! Great modeling as always!
Hi Andy, GREAT Build. I also hope Tamiya re-tools there US Halftracks. This Scout car is now at the top of my list. Thanks again for the video.
Excellent job as usual!!
Good looking kit and great paint job!😀👍
*Hey Andy you should do more Knocked out vehicles! You did a really good job with the M4 Sherman!*
I really want to see Andy do a really battle scared tank.
i would use an older kit to do that since newer kits are more detailed and the details are lost through the battle damage process
a good build of the M3A1. Great weathering and paint job. Good one ,Andy.
I wish the ads on your channel were related to the hobby, remember when Tamiya had ads for R/C cars on tv especially around Christmas time. I am buying this kit as soon as it comes out!!!! My will be filled with Germans
I'll look out for that!
Bravo, Andy... love your builds
Good job.
Great job Andy. Love your work and all your tips and advice has really helped me elevate my skill set.
Absolutly perfect as usual my friend Andy!! Best regards from Provins, France.
Can't watch this anymore. Please stop telling me how wonderful Tamiya are.
Build a Scharnhorst next that would be a nice challenge.
Stunning as always Andy. :)
awesome
Great work! I saw one of these at an airshow yesterday, cool-looking vehicle.
Always amuses me they have a camouflaged truck but then have a huge white star on the side. Like a big target.
how else you would identify your army vehicles ???
@@jimmyharris1481 But it has'nt to be so big mate
That's correct ! This one is really too big !
But they made them smaller in later years during the war...
@@jimmyharris1481 I know
The crews tended to smear them over with mud to tone them down. The Army said they had to be there, not that they couldn't be muddy!
Looks great Andy 👍 Always nice to have something a 'little' different for the Allied forces and some cool marking options, for sure!
Hey Andy, great video as always, i recently picked up modelling again as a hobby and im now really getting into the weathering, your videos help alot, thanks for all the great content!!
Liked the video, but it's a pitty you didn't do one of the russian versions and include the figures. The figures are a quite important pus to this kit in my opinion, and they aren't showed well here. Just my two cents...
Yeah I was excited to see the Russian version. :(
With regards to the star on the front louvre, you did a video not too long ago using a stencil to replicate wood grain, Alliance Model Works also does a stencil for American star markings, LW35018, have you perhaps thought of doing the star using an airbrush?
Even though the car has been finished and weathered, it would probably make an interesting short video showing putting the star on with the stencil perhaps?
I gotta have it!
I like watching your videos. You should get a shirt clip on microphone. It would be easier to hear what your saying. There is a lot of back ground noise when your talking. It would make your videos much better. Love your videos.
Very nice Andy, well done. Just in case you didn't notice the decal number on the back was coming off.
Looking forward to your next project oh and where is the part 2 of the R2D2?
Thank you very much for sharing this build.
A little bit disapointed you chose the US version. The russian one with figures should have been more rare and interesting in my opinion.
You need to add some figures. These figures look superior!!
I am new to this game but have been following your posts with interest. I have some major problems however - after getting a great camo finish on my models - generally using Vallejo air paints (acrylic) when I seal the paint in with Tamiya dull coat (ts80) the paint finish bubbles and crazes. What’s going wrong?
Cracking little model. Recently made the M8 Greyhound by Tamiya, great model as well. Thinking of using it in a winter scene.
Any thoughts on doing a Winter diorama, maybe with a frozen river or something?
Russia and Canada used many more of these in combat than the US did, so I understand the Soviet versions being marketed. If they included US figures, they would probably be prewar era.
Arthur Murray yup I've seen pictures of the red army with the M-3 half-track as well
Can you please add the item # for this kit?
I wish there were more 1/24 & 1/25 scale military vehicles.
Hi Andy, excellent job as always. Yours is my favourite modelling channel, and I've learnt more about how to paint and weather my models from you than anyone else. I've even upgraded my airbrush to exact same one you use. I have a fledgling channel of my own if you would like to take a look? Thank you, and keep up the great work!
Thank you.
ANDY…..Do you ship model kits???
I think Dragon's .50 MG is starting to look pretty dated - they need to start molding it the way that Tamiya and other companies now do it (barrel separate from receiver and cooling jacket).
Is that war thunder music?
[Happiness Noises]
Cool build! Quick question regarding the decals and mark fit strong. I've seen in numerous videos that after applying the mark fit strong, you shouldn't touch the decal when it all wrinkled up, and that it would then flatten out. But looking at the video, you were pressing it down between applications of mark fit strong. Did you wait for the mark fit strong to dry up before pressing down with the cotton swab?
I think Academy got a similar model quite a while back.
Academy has one?
Off Topic but I really want to build the 1/350 Trumpeter USS Constellation CV-64. I spent 4 years on her in San Diego )1985-89)
as an AB (green Shirt). The problem is this kit is like $240.00 and there are no reviews or photos of the kit. Does anyone know anything about this kit? I did read it had 1,300 parts. Is it worth the cost?
Andy, any word on the new tooled Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire MK I?
Cool looking kit and hope as well that they re-do the M16 half-track! Great looking build as usual mate.
waiting for m551
Andy, no comment on the Scout Car's "Buster Crabbe" nickname? You're excused. You are FAR too young to know who Buster Crabbe was along with his 1950s CLASSIC TV adventure show watched faithfully each week by us old guys! Keep up the good work. GREAT build as always.
hello how much this beautifoul thing cost? great from france
What's the best way to put windshields in? What type of glue is best?
Pva
i use testors clear parts cement
@@CC-dq6ck some here, works great
i use canopy glue by Pacer
Keep in mind when the windshield armor is down, the windshields (they are separate parts) would be removed and stored in a canvas case.
A Russian Model Manufacturer has done a model of the M3 Scout Car, The do both Russian and American Versions and one with a tarp, Can't remember the name though.
It’s a shame with a new tool kit they don’t have weight wheels
Very interesting review and build. But why, oh why, have Tamiya put Russian figures in? Why not 2 sets - one of US and one of Russian to give the builder choice?
that is a k[t by Tamiya I've been waiting for over 30 yrs
Me too. I don't really do 1/35th scale kits as I am primarily a wargamer, but this is one I will do for sure. One of my favorite WWII vehicles.
I happen to own a real 1942 M3A1 Scout Car I'm restoring. It belonged to the 91st Rec. (attached to the 1st Armored) HQ vehicle #7. If you have questions regarding the 1:1 version let me know. It's a really fun vehicle. Armor, but wheels instead of tracks.
I'm building the zveda scout car bit I tell you for a 2007 kit it's the worst out iv done in years! the detail is very good don't get me wrong there it will come out a nice model after tonnes of cleaning up! Every part has flash and injection pin holes in places that are on show pure eye sore! And heavy seem lines! Iv got everything filled and sanded and now looks presentable and a very nice model! I done it for my jagdpanther 2 mythical TD from amusing hobbies its really nice! And can just think out the box on that one! But just a big jagdtiger with a rear mounted gun! Stunning bit of kit! But its deffo a first and last time for me with a zveda kit!! They should just stop now there that bad! Iv seen some lovely looking Russian trucks I'd like to do but there from this zveda so that's just one company I'll know to avoid in future!!
I think it's great you admitted to screwing up a decal. I've done it a few times as well, as I'm sure all modelers have. This is typical Tamiya and goes well with their other WW2 US vehicles.
"Die Valkyrie" for a Russian Vehicle?
Hey Andy.... if you can't be arsed answering questions in some of your old videos then perhaps disable the comments as there is nothing more off putting than ignorance!
Some new M3/M16s would indeed be pretty cool. With new tool figures and just tons of details. OOh please Tamiya
Alfadas fire n
Andy could you do some 1/72 ww2 bombers?
I wanna see Andy do some figures 😎😎
I Really like This 1 Too !! Thanks Andy for Another Awesome Tutorial Build, God Bless All
Glad this kit has great detail injection molded tires. Those rubber tires on the latest kits do not impress me but that is just my opinion.
What brand of weathering powder do you use? Looks easy to use and the finish is fantastic.
This only came into the UK on the 11th of December
You should do the takom 1/35 object 279
Great job, as always. I can't help but wonder why manufacturers don't mold realistic tire bulges and flat spots where the tire contacts the ground. It would go a long way to making the vehicle look more realistic.
Tamiya have done a great job with this one and you have done a great job with the build Steve 🇬🇧
You never fail to amaze me.
Good job, Andy.
Mission Models faded olive drab? how does it spray vs. tamiya?
I learn a little something every time I watch your videos. Thank you!
Can u pls make a polish model like a tank, submarine, plane? 🇵🇱
can you do a kv2 pls
Andy...love the video👍! If you'd like, send me the figures and I'll put them together and paint them up to place in the vehicle😀! Opps, sorry...didn't realize that it was going to be a US Army vehicle😀
Great review, thanks. Looks right up my street!
Andy and others: Trumpeter announced their full interior 1/35 Maus!!! We talking bout 1500 parts!!!!
( No release date yet)
Andy (or any modelers out there)... why do you use NATO black paint instead of black surface PRIMER?
Well done , George . You're one of the few people that I hear "Vallejo" pronounced correctly . People get the jo like an h but miss the y sound of the double L . That bug is coming along nicely .
Nice review and build. Something to acquire in the future. Happy modelling :)
Does anyone know why no kit manufacturer has ever done an AMX-50 (-120 more specifically)? Seems like an pretty interesting tank that was just forgotten.
Nice job! Andy, what clear finish (rattle can) do I spray over an enamel finish paint coat so I can use Tamiya panel liners without messing up the paint. Maybe a silly question but I’m just getting back into the hobby after being away for 40 years. Thanks. Love your channel.
I prefer Dragon and Trumpeter kits since they are a bit more complex to build and have more parts however, Tamiya remains the number one kit builder where the parts just fall into place.
Hey andy you should try out the Heller 1:72 M4a2 "Division Leclerc" might be smaller than your normal builds but the QUALITY!!!! best 72nd sherman on the market :)
I'm still waiting on this American one coming into my model shop decals look nice with just the star on the lovers without the odd circle iv never seen that on the scout car but it's different just remember to keep the glass out if using the armored plate windscreen cause they had to unbolt the windows first it wasn't an on the fly job as they would say! Iv ordered the one with the winch looking forward to building it
Andy, have you tried to mottle on the white over your NATO black base rather than a solid coat? it something alot of aircraft guys to to create added texture, I figure it would work here too
Beautiful model kit (but I’m was already stop bought model kit because too much collections) 😅
Nice work, as usual! What type of airbrush are you using? Looking to switch from syphon-fed to gravity fed and open to suggestions. TIA!
Hi Andy how do you get from the desert sand paint, back to the olive green as you jump from that to the lovely green finish
Andy........... after all this time......WHY are yout still using that glue in the wrong way...???That Tamiya glue is super thin and dries really fast. It's supposed to work through capillary action. First, press the parts together, THEN add the glue to the seam. Suction will do the rest. The result is always (near) perfect. And should you think this glue affeects the plastic too much, if it leaves a glossy finish, try Mr Cement S. That one leaves no residue and dries matt, resulting in an almost invisible glue joint.
How do you hold the parts together AND glue it at the same time? I only have 2 hands.
@ Ash
.........??? Are you serious?
With you left hand you keep the parts together, with your right hand you apply the glue...........
Doh...............
I'm new and never done a model before. Some parts seem like they'd be big/difficult to hold together with just one hand, especially if you have small hands.
you can use small pieces of tape if needed, or rubber bands but do NOT get any glue under the bands. best wishes new modeler!
@Ash Baker - it's not too hard for most applications. Usually there's one part that can be set on the bench, the other piece to be glued held with one hand and your other hand can apply the glue. I've also set the cap with brush on the bench and held each piece to be glued in either hand holding them together and touched the joint to the stationary brush.
The Orange cap Tamiya cement can be used like Andy is using the Extra Thin if you like it that way. The Green cap Extra thin really works better if you apply it to pieces being held together in place.
Great video, cheers has Tamiya ever done a American halftrack like the one in Kelly's hero's?
The wheels rolling is really helpful when your making the base and want tire Mark's and then you can glue it down after your done making marks
Need 1/48 Scout car and Half Track! The old Bandai kits are long in the tooth but still bring huge money.
Hey Andy Will you please build the old Itaiilari or Testers M3 scout car and compare it against the Newer Tamiya one?
You should make a T34 straight out of the factory without paint like the way they were used at Stalingrad
Nice video lick the look of this one cude do it in indo China as a french one well don lick to see you finish of the panther from takom
Hi could you please build the tamiya 1/48 m4a1 sherman cast hull
Good job
Really happy you did a video on this one. Already got a scene planned out for it. I love Tamiya's diorama ready kits. Surprised you can't adjust the steering though.
