After all, it was centuries ago and the region was now a backbone of Roman society. Two, the aggrandization of a tomb need not mean that Severus meant to stick it to the Romans, it could simply be seen as an act of someone from the provinces showing that he was proud of his (provincial) background. Severus was a Roman through and through, not a wannabe Punic revisionist.
