This is WDS4 Locomotive design by Russian and in indian railway introduce in 1973 It is WDS4 W means Wide. Broad gauge D means Diesel S means used for Shunting purpose In is very easy to operate in shunting Now they are descontinue from services One of them placed at out side VALSAD Railway station You can see in my videos
Russian ????? What is Russian about them ? This class is a development of the WDS-3 which in turn traced its origin to the original diesel shunters imported from America during WW2 in 1943-45 and later reclassified as WDS-1.
@@ArghyadeepPal What would be the basis of your assertion ? We had Austrian locos in service as the WCG-1 and German as the WDM-3 (original Henschel design) but our shunters were derived and developed from the WDS-1. The only thing remotely German would be the hydraulic transmission which was also present in the Henschel design.
Aside from shunting, I remember these being used for some short passenger routes out of Calcutta. I thought that the connecting rods with the engine output in the middle was the strangest yet most interesting feature I'd ever seen in a diesel locomotive... crude yet strangely elegent! Later I learned that there were the Swiss CE 6/8 and BE6/8 electric locomotives with using a similar concept. ua-cam.com/video/AuW4tYhdlWE/v-deo.html
BAMY locomotives were used only to haul only for short distances and empty rakes.and were handy during loco breakdown conditions
Cute little locomotive dijal 👈😘😘😘😘😘😘
Their wheels are amazing
Such a beautiful locomotive!
It's mechanism is directly connected with Diesel engine to wheels...there is none other generator present in this loco. WDS 4D thus offer very low HP
But produces high tractive effort and torque
Hydrolic pump then engine connect
Nice loco and nice speed and good maintenance
The wheels are same like steam engine

Not Russian but most probably German or Austrian

@@peterasp1968 I thought the design of Pappu looked similar to the German locomotive Deutsche Bahn Class V 100
Superb!! 👍👍👍👍
Wds 4 orange colour small diesel locomotives are in my mind forever and are also in my parents mind forever too.
As per my knowledge these locos used to haul small passenger trains because I have seen it in some old Indian films from 1980s
Yes I travelled in a very slow passenger train and this loco hauled the train and this was my fav loco more than AZAD
@@RameshKSingh-gp2mx thanks for the info

Beautiful Video,Scene
Miss this locomotive .
Indian Railways should've retained WDS Shunting train.
nice video 👍
lol its wheels are so funny, like old steam engine
It is because it uses diesel hydraulic transmission instead of diesel electric traction.
Power is directly transferred from engine to wheels
A diesel locomotive thinks its a steam locomotive
@@thomashninan3825 Stupid cute diesel locomotive

These are diesel hydraulic locos

Ye agya apna rahul gandhi urf pappu 😂
Ye India Ka successful and most hard working pappu hai, please don't insult this beautiful loco by calling it Rahul Gandhi.
