  • Front load washers are usually considered superior when it is compared to top load washing machines.
However, a major issue is the mold and mildew build-up inside the gasket of the washing machine. This can lead to a rotten smell coming from your washing machine.
Manufacturers have been hard at work to help solve this issue allowing for a more superior laundry experience.
Let me know your thoughts when it comes to front load washers and their overall performance!

Grew up in the US, Italy and Germany.
This problem is much bigger in the US because the manufacturers didn't take local customs into account. Most Americans close the door to the washer when it's not in use. They didn't grow up knowing you have to wipe the seal (boot) after every use.
The manufacturers also didn't put in the proper drain holes in the beginning (as has been done in Europe for decades) because of the "we know it all, what could anyone else in the world teach us" mentality.

Is it best to buy a Bosch or Miele front-load washer here in the USA?

Thank you for this perspective! Yes I agree a lot of people don't wipe the gasket area after a cycle. To go even further, most people do not provide any maintenance cleaning for their laundry machines at all.
