The troopers of two starships have joined forces to terminate a massive bug attack at a Federation outpost. When the Starship Troopers movies feel more like Halo than the actual Halo series
Halo should have been a slam dunk. But they picked creators who never wanted to make Halo in the first place to make Halo. It baffles me that the Niel Blomkamp movie was cancelled while Paramount's shit sandwich was greenlit.
Fuck i dont think even Halo feels like halo anymore, things just havent been as good since the human covenant war.
@@therevenant9571that’s nostalgia talking. When you were younger halo was better because it was a new idea and your younger mind enjoyed it more. Now that you’re older, it doesn’t feel the same because you’re not a little kid or a young teenager anymore. The younger generation loves 343 Halo because their younger minds adapt to it better. Eventually when someone new takes over Halo, the current players will reminisce on how much they enjoyed 343 Halo and hate the new people. It’s the circle of life. Halo isn’t catered to the original players. It’s catered to the new players. In order to make money off of a video game series you need to be able to attract new players to it. Catering to the old players is not going to attract new players. The old strategies already served their purpose and filled their places. The new strategies are working towards new players.
@@rescue08jrgaming72have you ever played Bungie and 343 games back to back? Yes, I do recognize that nostalgia plays a part in my preference, but there’s also such a noticeable quality difference. And if older players don’t matter, then why did Infinite try so hard to reintegrate the older ways of Halo? I’m only 20. It’s not like I’m gonna die anytime soon and stop buying games. I and most other fans still have a good 30-50 years left in this hobby. I mean, what’s even the point of keeping an old franchise alive if you’re not capitalizing off of its existing popularity?
@@Borgron literally the only way to keep an old franchise alive is to attract new customers. Franchises and companies adapt to the wants of their customers. Like I already said, halo is geared towards attracting new players. New players like live service games with open world content and different ways to approach the story. Halo Infinite is exactly how it needs to be for new customers to flock to it. I don’t like it either. At all. Same with Halo 5. I have an extreme dislike for both of them. But I also understand why 343 is changing things so much.
The problem with this series is no matter what, there never enough DAKKA. They need better gun as well as better trauma Kit.
I mean their guns do get the job done, and Hero shows the armor isn’t completely shit at keeping people together after being mauled. The plots are just ass because it’s like, oh yeah, we can’t have our guy be 100% effective against their well known opponents otherwise the movie would end in minutes.

Not being able to call in airstrikes would certainly change the situation up for a more challenging game.

@@crypto1223or hear me out you would be able to call in strategems but the more you call in, the more destroyed the station becomes and if you aren't wearing proper armour, you'll get depressurized, making it harder to reach your objective or evac spot and if you aren't wearing the right kit you'll accidentally unalive yourself and this could be like a timed random event on the galactic map to explain away why the station is back to normal whenever you encounter a new one because it'll be a brand new station taken over by bugs or bots
Yeah and its easy to implement lore wise. Just make it so that the bugs/automatons have breached through space stations while Helldivers were liberating planets. Hell it can even be the (re)introduction of the Illuminate.

I love the armour in this movie. It's just sad that we never saw anything like this in any of the live action movies.
ya it is a shame but atleast they explained the lore why it became like this being the original Live Action movies armor just got replaced by these new armor sometime after events of the 3rd movie. When is unknown since they had a massive time skip between the 3rd movie to this movie.
It's called marauder armor it's basically smaller compact versions of the marauder mech suits in the 3rd live action movie
These are based on the novel "Starship Troopers" by Robert A. Heinlein in 1959. The live action film, and subsequent anime, have very little connection to the novel, except the title, and the fact it was a military organization. The movie versions did not have a budget that gave everyone a battlesuit (Think Iron Man), so they had to use modified armor that was available. The scene where Rico takes his helmet off and accidentally kills a fellow trainee, is taken from the novel, but in the novel, it was a battlesuit helmet (Again, like Iron Man's).
@@paulmoffat9306 Yeah back then CGI was still primitive and probably pricey. Imagine if they had animations like in Edge of Tomorrow, the movie would probably got a more positive outlook at the time rather then the cult following years later.
If Helldivers 2 can play as Fireteam

In Helldivers you already play as a fireteam. A fireteam is 4 people, a squad is 3 fireteams +SL. Platoon. is roughly four squads give or take.
Based on my understandings in playing games for something related with shooting or FPS/FPS multiplayer. I know Fireteam is consist of 5 members. @@vexingrabbit1824

I like how in the troop transport, the officer says _'Are we clear?!'_ and the marines respond with _'Loud and Clear, sir!',_ like I can't help but think that it was originally _'Wakatta ka?'_ ( _Do you understand me?!_ ) in the Japanese version of the dialogue, which was itself based on the original Starship Trooper movie where the officers say _'Do you get me?!'_ and the marines shout _'We get you , sir!'_ 😆
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the makers really must’ve lived the IP. There a lot of examples that just show a lot of love and care was taken when they made this. Unlike so many in the entertainment industry today, the makers of *this* squeal didn’t hate what came before it.

Other than an obscure Japanese adaptation from the 80's, the Maruader Armour is never gotten quite right.
The amount of guys and ammo expended for a few bugs in this clip is ridiculous.
ONE CAP Trooper would absolutely destroy and break everything.
A hard reboot based on the books with this art style would be nice. But have more modern refinement on the power armor obviously.
They did for Traitor of Mars, but the plot for that one sucks
There is a reboot in the works but so far no new info on that.. the only media is close/similar to the novel is the anime ova from the 80s

Few things are more dangerous to a trooper than his commanding officer having ambitions and sees the soldiers as nothing more than tools to be used and thrown away for his own benefit.
I get assault rifles are standard weapons for militaries but I thought to myself “why are they not using shotguns?” especially in close quarters they would be extremely useful and with the bugs having very few ranged options shotguns would be my go to weapon in Starship Troopers.
If you watched the first move Rico had a Shotgun Attachment on his Rifle, the problem is the big has a thicker armor, Rico has to empty the whole shells just to take out one bug
I get the feeling that no matter how long the Bug War goes on military high command is still gonna worry more about losing a rebellion, so their kit is still geared for human-v-human conflicts
@@DiceboxxI also reckon the amount of ammo they can carry for shotguns will be less than their rifle rounds because of how big shotgun shells are which also means they will need to reload more frequently
@@wolight See that is the funny thing about the book vs the movie. The book most of the people in federal service are from colonies not earth itself.
I kinda disagree. The closest real life use case is park rangers dealing with bears, and they carry rifles for that, not shotguns. Which makes sense if you think about it, the safest place to be when dealing with large animals is as far away as possible, so giving that up to carry a shotgun seems like a bad idea.
Really though the bugs in starship troopers should be a problem for artillery to solve, not infantry, so this is all kind moot.

These guys look more like they're apart of the Halo universe because to many folk are relying on the disappointing 1997 film as thier model. I realize that special effects tech in 97 is light years behind tge tech available today. But if you read the book by Heinlein you would know the troopers in tge book were in some sort of mechanized suit that was loaded with an array of lethal armaments that gave one trooper the ability to level a small town. These suits also allowed the troopers to travel great distances in one motion, called "Bouncing." I wish someone would remake it with better emphasis on the actual story I'm sure it would be a hit.

the way I remember 80's and 90's films always had limitations of cgi since it was still in its infancy and still being improved. As for the 97 film itself it reminds me how the guardsmen in warhammer 40k are like. they are given the basic gear they need to fight and that's it. wearing high tech armor would likely only be given to special forces units or squads capable of taking out large forces with ease.
Take my thought with a grain of salt as it was just something that came into my mind.

Given the large size of bugs and close range of combat, stop using the small caliber high velocity round suitable to taking out a human at long range, and switch to a heavier shell that can take out a bug with a single shot, although at closer range

They are in a docking arm which still has artifical gravity

Cinematic logic of the 'Rule of Cool' . The whole, try not to think about it much.
You will see near the end it was actually a space station on a rock. If not artificial, then it has gravity even if not a huge amount.

Power armor needs modern refinements, guns needs to be more capable. Mechs should be included too for more weapon capabilities. The adaptation of the books with this art is more than fine with the right updates. Hell divers 3 may be like this.
They got mechs but it's later in the movie. They sent the Marauder mechs in when things get even more complicated.

I have a few small nitpicks of the movie(s) but for the most part they are just that. fun movie all around and a series that will stick with me for some time.
The troopers really need to invest in better armour if a giant bug can penetrate it so easily 🤦
Also better weapons with hollow points and armor piercing bullets. Or maybe get rail guns instead of assault rifles and heavy machine guns.

The original book had the MIT units using plasma weapon aka. atomic flamethrower, backpack mortar, hand grenades, and MANPAD/ATGM launcher. But the bugs has chest ray weapons to make it equal🤓

heh, what's funny is, I've watched this... maybe a dozen times, and I never even liked starship troopers! every time I saw something of those live action movies, I cringed...hard. and my mom actually watched them in theaters, and always told me that they were so bad! plus, the props and affects looked cheep to me. but this...this is actually good!

I wonder why federation never transitioned into automatic shotguns with support belt fed grenade launchers for this war, rapid fire rifles obviously are in a disadvantage against a swarming melee based enemy 🤔
You need a ranged option, you don't want the bugs to close the gap and get in close, shotguns irl have much more range than most games or movies show but still
I agree btw, auto shotguns for standard issue, then HMGs and auto grenade launchers for support/range also as much air power and artillery as possible

I mean, you do see what a Warrior Bug is, right? That thing is massive and the force from the point of it's legs slamming into your chest plate is the same as a spear against plate armour. Very good piercing from something designed with very strong muscles.
The armour is likely for avoiding friendly fire, carrying heavier weapons and being incredibly mobile.

It still bugs me at that last jump in outer space made it look like you need aton of strength just to jump in zero gravity. plus why they don't move back while shooting.
6:47 or the fact that this soldier is still alive after getting a hole opened in his suit that should kill him because he’s in space and also the fact that in 7:09 when she fires her sniper, the bullet casings don’t float or fly away in zero gravity and just falls straight down as if there’s gravity in space
yup pretty weird, that a clear hull breach, the glass is broken, why they dont get sucked out (from the sniper scene), if the bugs can come and stuck to the wall of the space station, why dont they purge the infected section, since the bugs cant fly in space. if the suit were only means to use for ground surface thats also a bad take to us the same armor for space situation, imagine being blast away into space with no means to aligned yourself properly due to useless armor have no thrusters, grappler and survival tools. too many bad direction in this.
@user-yi5el9vq8v My guess is the armor has magnetic boots locking them to the floor. But the bullet cases, I can not explain. And perhaps the wounded troopers have their armor automatically applying a foam that seals their armor as soon as its breached.
How long has this war been going in for and still giving men hand held pellets to fight over grown insects..

Ive had bubble guns with more muzzle velocity and round kinetic energy than whatever those toys they are using are.
They have all these a,axing ships that go into space and they still shoot out bullets. Makes no sense.
What's the point of their armour when it doesn't stop the bug stab?
Movement, jet pack, avoid getting pinged by a friendly by accident, breathing in a vacuum, recoil reduction due to power armour servos, carry more weight, etc.
More to wearing armour than just survivability, especially power armour.

A couple of nitpicks... The dropship not providing fire support with what I believe is a massive autocannon... Terrible spacing and covering angles... But wait, it's an animation about space soldiers fighting vacuum breathing bugs! Can't take it too seriously, now can we? ;-)

The soldier's armor always looks cool but useless. All sci-fi games and movies are almost like that.
Very similar to Halo
I think the problem with these movies is that it kinda felt like it lost the point. They began taking themselves more serious, the armor and dialogue is all very sci fi and boring. It doesn’t feel as deliberate or satirical as the first ones. And rather than literally hundreds of thousands of deaths in democracies name it’s a small squad just doing some mission.
Tbf, the sequel to this one involves a female sky marshall who is in power because she is popular on social media lol too bad the Mars battle isn't that satisfying in it
