Its really weird how everybody is quoting or comparing this to halo when it should be the other way around since the concept of power armor started with the book Starship troopers which this animation is based on.
But the armor in the book was completely different. It had automated bomb shoots, used it jetpack 24/7, a heavy weapon in each hand, tactical nuke launchers and it was so heavily armored that it made you look like a gorilla.

I see alot of people criticizing these recruits being brain dead or incompetent. You guys do remember that Rico got a squad member killed for telling him to remove his helmet during a live fire training exercise in basic training? That's the whole point of this, they're supposed to start off stupid and dumb cause they're literally recruits, fresh meat. Rico needs them to use their fucking heads and not make the same mistakes like he did as recruit, that's the whole point of this training exercise. Also remember the famous line with Ace and Drill Instructor Zim "the enemy can't push a button if you disable its hand". It doesn't matter if you have bad ass power armor or mini nukes strapped to your shoulder, if you don't use your head you will get fucked by arachnids you apes.

Absolutely. Those guys are quick enough to actually outrun most bugs, then turn around and fire them down. Melt through most light to medium armored targets with ease. I gave mine always the rocket launchers, cause then they can take out Royal Guards and whatnot as well in good time.
Get five or more of these guys and girls and you can clear house.
These guys are at least lucky they got power armor Rico and his troopers back then only had light armor and helmets, Rico and his crew would have killed to be suited up with these armor and guns back on klendathu first invasion.
The animation looks like something out of a video game, which makes me want a Starship Troopers video game.
There was one extremely good FPS game back in the day (2004ish), more recently RTS game that looks good but didn't have chance to try it yet.

The best part is that they have VR Sims. They can train without actually being killed. Something you don't see every day in movies and games. This is actual preparation for war. Rico is trying his best and he isn't prevalent, letting you know that he's supporting them and educating them rather than leading and calling the shots from the get go. That way, everyone can make mistakes and fail forward. Actually, really good leadership and what you'd expect from a CO.
I understand that this is aimed at anime fans but the melodrama interfering with their basic response time is infuriating. They just stand there and be dramatic rather raise their weapons and fire. These pauses completely ruin the pacing and make this unwatchable for me.
This is what happens when the movie production becomes Japanese. Cringy over-acting and over the top melodrama. They should have just based purely from the book.
@@yakisoba1427 well. the closest thing to the faithful adaptation of the book was the 1988 starship troopers/Uchuu no senshi OVA. (although i would prefer a direct continuation of the book or maybe expanded universe of it)

If you've ever been on a battle field but you learn air support doesn't necessarily come easy there's normally a time window and lots of red tape

This is how I imagine the terran power armored marine in Starcraft
In my opinion, Starcraft marines had a better survival / fighting chance with zerg / arachnid bugs, more than Mobile infantry had with arachnid bugs.

In Chronicles, most of the human colonies were occupied by bugs, fortifications had been breached, and the Mobile infantry was constantly understaffed and rarely had a day off.
Yes, there were more power suits, firepower, and other equipment, but it is natural to assume that humanity was losing draftable men to war and had to use even those who were not fit to be soldiers.

Surely, if you can already make full body power Armour, you can make it also thick enough / resistant to the danger your are wearing it for.
If you just need the strength of it, surely you will just make exoskeleton instead to save cost on manufacturing each unit.

@@christophergerber2949 You're right! There is no big enough problem that "Painless" cannot solve XD.
Mobile suits in this setting would make much more sense than in the original one. If the enemy doesn't shoot back and just relies on brute force a 18 metrrs tall mech is the perfect answer, you crush them like regular cockroaches, but if you're fighting against other humans in space a power armor is the best choice, you're small and almost impossible to hit by starships and fighters, and at the same time you still have enough fire power to take down a fighter, not to mention the ability to cut a starship's hull and bording it, at that point the crew inside doesn't stand a chance against a power armor fire team. That way you can capture a a still serviceable starship.

Starship Troopers has always been a cheesy action flick trying to prove itself. Halo was a runway success from the beginning.
I understand that Starship Troopers came before Halo. I simply don't care. Halo has had more success and has been better executed than Starship Troopers will ever be.

You can disagree if you'd like but to me it doesn't seem the same
Of course it is underrated, this movie doesn't even disclose it's box office meaning it made less than budget by quite a stretch. The original made small profit. This movie is the best of Starship Troopers productions since, and yet it cant make profit. Meaning it is unlikely for more. This is a good movie, it deserves financial success too, not just "good" approval rate of the audience who saw the film.
