Yes, and the whole point of this video is to save someone a trip up the ladder. The alarm will still fail if you have used the DC adapter but failed to replace the batteries if there is a power cut. @@y0rkiebar
I have just had the same problems with a EF siren box, batteries lasted 6 months but leaked everywhere and now may have to replace to a new smart home unit if Yale cannot sell me one. Why is this not part of Yale’s upgrade for simple install into a house for future use. May try and use this to see if I can get the old one working but at least with your help an easy diy hobby Sunday job. Thank you.
Mounted my bell box under the bedroom window so I can change the batteries from the bedroom window. Yes a burglar could stand on another’s shoulders and squirt the box full of filler foam to silence it or smash it off the wall, but me and the wife would still get notified so I can phone my neighbour and he’ll pop round with his two Rottweilers. At the end of the day if I get burgled it’ll be be by an opportunist and not a professional who will be going after bigger fish. At the end of the day they’ll hopefully leave your# and rob someone who doesn’t have an alarm showing. Regrading the bedroom battery box. Take a photo of a panic alarm box and stick that on the battery cover so at a glance it looks like a panic alarm box 😂.
I've had the HSA version of this alarm since 2013, same bell box. I think I've replaced the batteries twice. Just upgraded to the sync one yesterday. Hope I don't have to end up doing this mod, but useful to know. Maybe hook it up to a 9v mains adaptor, save you ever having to change them?
Hi john just got same alarm how do you silent siren outside so it only sends alarm to phone only I have managed to silent control panel but outside can’t remember how to silent that again
My Yale smart sync has just notified me the batteries need changing after 2 years, not sure why you have to change them every couple of months? Maybe invest in better batteries.
Thank you for the comments it was nothing special as the voltage and current draw were low and there was no external cable run. The cable I used was designed to be used in automotive electrical applications as it was what I had spare.
@@jwarburton if buy a new battery for hub the white box the connector on that plugs straight in just cut the old wire off the battery which is the green battery it will plug straight in once unplug the battery box cable leave that to one just in you to go back to what it was then ?connect a lead to battery cable and move the box
Thanks for the information..I had yale alarm with grey controller the batteries lasted more than two years but I lost the grey controller for it.so brought another yale alarm but it had a square white controller it got to me having too replace the batteries once a month .fook that. So now I've brought another yale alarm today with grey controller again .hopefully the batteries will last a few years again ...so now I have two spare alarms to make the battery boxes

I seem to be replacing batteries more often as it gets older. Tried different batteries but not made much difference, I was only getting about 4 months before I did this mod. So far I haven't had to change the batteries since I've moved it inside. I'm hoping that having the batteries out of the cold will help with the battery life.
@@8wealthyone8 I think the longest I have had is about 9 months. The cold seems to affect life, as does the age of the system and any false alarms / mistakes. We set the alarm when we are out during the day and every evening. So far since installing the mod I haven't had to replace the batteries.
Ive tried a variety of batteries on my sync alarm, the bell box last six-twelve months, even with all the energy saving options activated, it's really annoying

Most burglars will have your house cleaned of valuables in a minute or so and not even worry about the siren going off

Why not just use a 6 volt power supply? Then you never need to change them.

@@jwarburton ah that’s Jon. Was looking at red/black speaker cable. Rated at around 3/4 amps I think. That will be ok I think?!

It was a connector I had from some drone parts. I think its a 2 pin mini micro jst connector.

I seem to be replacing batteries more often as it gets older. Tried different batteries but not made much difference, I was only getting about 4 months before I did this mod. So far I haven't had to change the batteries since I've moved it inside. I'm hoping that having the batteries out of the cold will help with the battery life.

Just had to change the batteries. Got around 4 months out of that set. Arming every evening. The set I have just put in are rechargeable.
