awesome motor, I have the 20hp tohatsu on a 14 ft vee bottom and it runs great. I noticed a lot of spray coming up from your cavitation plate. the motor needs to be raised higher on transom to correct this. it will run better with out the drag . I have same issue with mine. about to raise mine about an inch and test run it. once you get your boat dialed in you should see 30 mph no problem. might have to go with a 12p prop. but that 25 hp will handle it okay.

That spray (about 45 degrees upward port and starboard around @1:20) you are seeing is more likely a result of the outboard being too high in the water column. If the outboard is already mounted as far down as it can be (which is what it looks like), you may need to add weight near the transom such as the fuel tank, batteries, etc. The check is to make a series of harder turns at speed and see if you blow out the prop (sudden drastic increase in slippage). Some people choose to live with the blow outs because they want that outboard as high as possible when running, and compensate by, basically, never making a hard turn at speed. That's fine, but keep in mind that outboard cooling at high speed is critically important and running like this dramatically increases your chance of a catastrophic failure due to overheat. Is it really worth it for the outboard to maybe be one inch higher? Of course not. That inch isn't really going to make a difference with an underwater obstruction. Another option may be a jackplate, but not sure if your boat can support one. My canoe has a manual jackplate. Love it. That's the only real way to dial this in, IMO. I would not waste my time with fins. Other props can help such as four blade, but a lot of that is hit or miss.

Or a jack plate, best of both worlds :)

Dying to know how it did with the stainless. I just ordered a 30hp and am going to select a prop, any pitch suggestions . I have a southfork 1548 all weld.

      I believe it was a 12 pitch ran over 30 mph on a 1448.

The boat is a1448 Lowe the hull weighs about 260 pounds it would go 30.5 mph with 1 person in it but now I have a new powertech stainless prop on it haven't checked the mph but it's all you want now! I load it up with two men and decoys and it moves pretty good.

It's not mounted the right way. Probably a little too low, it shouldn't spray all that water. You should have paid someone to install that engine.

The dealership installed it, i need to make a video to show how high it's mounted!
