    I could watch your videos for hours. Such a shame you don’t have a camera crew, sound crew, and editing team along with you. I’m guessing putting these videos together really eats in to the time you have available. Thank you for pausing your hard work long enough to put out these weekly updates. Absolutely fascinating.

      Had it not been for recording his work for our enjoyment, I’m sure the boat would have been finished years ago. It’s gotta take time to set up each shot and make sure lightning and sound are correct. Very grateful for his sharing of his project for our enjoyment. Once the boat is finished, I’m looking forward to see how he is going to recreate his UA-cam channel.

    I was worried I would miss your DIY videos but with all your gadgets on your boat every week you will have to fix something while you are sailing. It's a win win in my book.

    I do not think I have ever mentioned how your obsessive attention to detail has influenced me for my everyday life when facing any task. Thank you for the inspiration and the videos. I've really enjoyed your videos over the years and have learned a lot. The main thing being that if I decide to go sail, I will just write a bigger check. Old men like me have to be practical. I look forward to seeing you cut the lines and just go have fun. I'd spend the next six months doing the best you can and then finish the details enroute. Best, Doc.

    Good luck. My 30 year history of these kinds of projects says you will get done a small fraction of your goal. And that's doing it full time, as I do now. If you want to leave the dock in six months with a seaworthy boat, then no frills allowed like NMEA 2000 gadgets.

    • @danielbuckner2167
      @danielbuckner2167 3 роки тому

      Oh I think if he has the boat ready to live on then that will keep the peace. If the head and v berth and galley aren't totally ready then it will be an unhappy boat. Besides if they are going to make a life together Ava has to realize you dont always control the schedule on a sailboat, weather and how far away the correct part you need control whether you are stuck someplace, maybe even at a dock or worse yet on the hard. K think she gets that so as long as they can be comfortable it will be OK.

    Speaking from experience I would say its better to mount the chart plotter in a way that faces you, rather than at a 90 degree angle on the panel.
    I realise you're planning a PC plotter with large screen, so maybe you won't find it an issue, but I've found that its much more comfortable to use the plotter when its directly or close to infront of your eye line.

    Madds I have used those steel mono element VHF radio antennae on mirror mounts for trucks and 4wd vehicles in the past.
    Longer examples are susceptible to excessive flexing resulting in harmonic effects and as a consequence they have a tendency to eventually break off at the base.
    Also I had a base station with a 10db gain antenna mounted on a tall mast where I lived for a while in a remote region of the Australian outback.
    If memory still serves that far back at my age, then when you use coax cable over a certain length (up a mast for example) it is a good idea to switch to heavier coax with stouter copper shielding for optimum results.
