I was watching the Evans Bohl tutorial on mixamo retargetting and he brushed over the batch convert so quickly that I was lost when my root bone was missing. Didnt even realize there was a convert to unreal bones option. THANK YOU so much you saved me so much hassle 🙏
This is the best tutorial I've come across on this topic. It would be greatly improved if you could show the popup screens so others can follow more easily. I was able to get everything working without them - thanks so much for your effort on this.

I always get an error on converting in Blender: ERROR hip_to_root raised Converting py args to operator properties: NLA_OT_bake.frame_start expected an int type, not float when processing Standing Melee Attack Downward. Have you ever had this before?
Keeping my fingers crossed! I just want to know how to fix and add root motion to a Mixamo animation. I understand you need a root bone. I used plugins, retargeted, etc...
Thank you , this was very helpful. I'd seen several videos showing the first way, which wasnt working for me.... but the converter program worked great. Also, switching over to root motion attack anims also solved another problem i was having with having to turn of the foot IK momentarily during the attack.... now that is solved too, thank you very much.
Within UE5 there is an IK Rig system that makes it much easier to retarget animations. I recently made a video about it if you'd like to check it out! I'm so glad I could help
@@Kedryn usually that is how I would retarget an animation, but the mixamo animations also need to have a root bone added in order for root motion animations to work. The converter puts one in .
@@lorenfulghum2393 Ahh yes, that makes sense! I'm glad I was able to help then as I was having the same issues. Mixamo now lags badly on my computer so I've been trying to find other ways of finding/creating animations as of recently.
i just made a video on setting up an IK Rig for different characters in UE5. Maybe that might help? It has something to do with where your main Root bone is.

Thank you! This helped me resolve an issue I was having with the root motion from mixamo not having a 0,0,0 on location and rotation.
