I don't know about Vancouver but the TTC in Toronto keeps increasing fare prices for continued mediocre service. I used to use the TTC a decade ago, then 5 years ago when I was doing undergrad and in both those time periods nothing has changed. The TTC still always ran late, and suffered from long wait times. If your trip calls for 1 hr, you'd better make an extra 1 hr allowance for the TTC service because of their subpar service. And now add this on top of it all. At least hire some more equipped staff or police to patrol subway stations and certain bus/streetcar routes if TTC wants to keep increasing the fare. The TTC owners are just lining their own pockets.

This really does not address the problem. I feel sorry for people, who are forced to use public transit. They regularly have to share this transit with persons, who are filthy and have serious behaviour problems. Children have to witness things, that they should not be exposed to, on public transport. Transit users are at increased risk to infectious diseases in these mass transport vehicles. In my opinion, this is more related to urban structure of these two cities. Better pedestrian flows everywhere promote naturally more public transit uses. And more uses increase substantially the safety of public transit by passive surveillance from the presence of people. These two cities Toronto, Vancouver are known as very walkable cities in their inner centers. But only in their real estate valued core. In fact, these two cities have very high segregation level between the downtown and the others. The entire city areas are all horribly segmented and broken into disconnected pieces where it is simply impossible to walk around. And globally, they are both very heavily relying on individual cars to move around and commute like very typical US car oriented cities. Plus, with Covid, many opted for remote-work, so even lesser users for public transit now. Thus in the cities where it is quite hard to get a usual daily interaction with people due to lack of pedestrians, it’s relatively easy to see trouble seeking people swarming into the public transit cause that’s only place where they can find their possible victims. And I fully agree with TTC representative that we need more people using public transit to make our public transit safer. But how? I have no idea cause, so far, urban development of these two cities have been far from inclusive. They have been largely concentrated only in the real estate value focusing zones. So the urban segregation has been even more intensifying. And we are witnessing the very result of this intensifying segregation now.

@@Icearchon there are soooo many ppl who shouldn’t even be on the road that drive Einstein
@@Bunny11344 Yes, obviously. That's part of my point. Thank you for backing it up
@@Icearchon sorry my response wasn’t directed at u it was replying to the op who commented. I agree with u also
Bail, no jail in addition to drug addiction and mental health concerns with inadequate help Trudo not hunting rifles are a major problem in Canada, but you would rather offer Maid than help for people. Disgusting!
there needs to be harder crimanel laws in Canada we call upon the federal government to impose setince of 25 years atomic if anyone is charted with stabbing !!!!! common people we need hasher laws for this PEOPLE SPEAK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m in Nanaimo and it’s terrible there’s kids chinging and poking around every day for nothing
Welcome to Trudope's out of control Canada
what do you think is going to happen when you legalize drugs, don't you think most of the people causing these attacks are probobly high on drugs? but lets legalize crystal meth and other drugs in B.C and see what happens when everyones high on these drugs!
Yeah really
What a dumb idea
It’s just an escapist attempt by the government not to spend any money on actually rehabilitating people with addictions and mental health issues
For whatever it's worth
Crystal meth isn't legalized
Drugs in b.c have been decriminalized
There is a distinction there
Not going to jail for mere possession of say cocaine is different than it being a over the counter thing to buy and regulated
@@jds614 well I'm pretty sure if your allowed to use and carry 2.5 grams of crystal meth you might as well call it legalized

The mentally ill need real and consistent help. Criminals need to be in jail and not just released. More transit policing will help. Better transit system. I loath crowded busses. I'm nervous using the transit system and walking around busy areas of the city. I don't get out much because of it.
More crisis and de-escalation trained police officers, and metal detectors at every access point or entrance.
Hug police?
I guess you've never been to an airport?
Government needs to start spending more on people in need. To rehabilitate people who have addictions and mental health issues.
There is a mental health epidemic on the rise and drug and opioid epidemic on the rise.
No band aid is going to be a solution
You need to get to the root causes
Start providing more services and resources to rehabilitate people.
Time for government to speak up and acknowledge what is happening in this country.
To put our tax dollars to good use instead paying for private jets and lining their greedy politician pockets
OMG 😮

😱😱😱😱 OMG ‼️
Justin Trudeaus legacy.
oh jeez... here we go, a ban on all assault cutlery is in the future, im sure.... C21 doing its job.... :(
First they allowed drugs and now surprised with mental health crisis and crimes.
Maybe if the TTC could do something about the smell. TTC smells like a sewer.
Ya need cams and security with teams everywhere to respond
Cameras and security isn't going to stop these dilusional sacks of garbage from running a knife through your neck. These are not people who think rationaly, or have any concerns of consequences.
Trudeau's Canada
Metal detectors to be used like in schools too.
I hate to say it but you get what you vote for.
Bring back street justice if you see a looney you know what to do
I been there for no reason and the police didn't care
Are the victims Asian ?
Justin Trudeau is the greatest man to walk the earth
Surrey hmmm
Justin Trudeau now it is time to ban all knives hand guns have already been banned now it is time to ban all knives. Then Canadian streets will be perfectly safe. 🤔🤔🇨🇦🇨🇦
We'll be like china we might even have to register our lives XD
Justin Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland's Canada
Our big cities are not safe. And as an older woman I now feel extremally vulnerable when in public. And we aren't allowed to carry any protection like bear/pepper spray.
Stop voting NDP liberal then
Canadian violence = polite violence😂
Really..., shocked..., almost as much as seeing Trudeau in DAvos..., shocked and HORRIFIED!!!
Better ban guns!!!!
Better ban transit!
@@swenhanson4125 I'd ban cars. They're MUCH more dangerous than transit. Also gun violence is much more deadly than knife.
@@dylanc9174
Yeah! Cars should only be driven by elites and professionals.
