    If we go by the idea that MJ was instrumental to the evolution of Pippen at both offensive and defensive ends since he played him everyday, I doubt Pippen would be the same player if he was drafted by any other team other than Chicago.

      In my honest opinion, I feel this is the best educated guess. Look at how aloof he is here. Look at the confidence difference between this interview and a jordan interview. Then look at the good he was in the last dance doc. Oakley was punking him and I think slapped him and he just took it. Pippen didn't have the fire to be great. Mj lifted this dude. Under anyone else, pippen isn't what he becomes. He might be a fine player, but I don't think 6 time all star.

    I have a meme saved with Pippen pointing to his Air Jordan's, at the camera, in 94 or 95, looking like he wanted MJ to come back. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. WIthout MJ and Phil, Scottie wouldn't have been shaped to be the great that he was, he'd never be ready to beat the Pistons. Sorry, but now it's clear Scottie is too far gone in his own lies and delusions. Edit: I remember some excerpts of Scottie and his family visiting MJ's and the kids would even call him "uncle Pip".

    24:50 BS.. Scotty Pippen got his first set of golf clubs as a gift from Jordan, he said so himself.... and then they never when to play together?
    Overall Scottie has improved, but the fact that he was never alone with Jordan in all those years??
    he also did his training with Jordan every day, the famous Breakfast Club Jordan, Harper and Pippen. And then he says he's never been on the basketball court in Jordan's house??? that's not possible. They trained there.
    Or when Dennis Rodman was supposed to come to the Bulls, they met at Jordan's house to discuss it and to meet Dennis.
    Plus Jordan had his Michael Jordan Restaurant in Chicago, where he was eating with a lot of peoples, and never with Pippen?
    or after the championship win that they both sat next to each other on the bus
    or the one time when Jordan was sitting in a suite in Chicago United Center, I think, and then Scottie came in and they hugged each other warmly and chatted
    The other time where Scottie and Jordan watched a whole game together on the sidelines ( which became a meme because Jordan was laughing and his head was on Pippen shoulder)
    When Pippen had birthday and turned 47 in 2012, there is a photo of Pippen and Jordan together (Plus, the wifes and Ahmad Rashad)
    Et cetera et cetera et cetera

    12:53 Scottie Pippen’s humor…..he probably has been trolling during this entire interview…..he says “three-three” or 33 at 12:42 because that’s his jersey number, so 3+3 = 6 ……”I still get my six”. And then he says that Michael Jordan would be somewhere with LeBron at 12:53 “two-three” or 23, because both Michael Jordan and LeBron James wore the #23 jersey, so he says that he thought that LeBron James had 5 because 2 + 3 = 5. Scottie Pippen knows that LeBron James has 4 championships, but he’s trolling PBD again. I don’t think that a player like Scottie Pippen would have a serious conversation about basketball with a fan. So he’s just trolling and playing around. I’m sure that he’s serious here and there, but he’s definitely shaqtin’ a fool in this moment.

    But one great question would have been to expand on his Hall of Fame speech when he said, "MJ, you have touched so many people’s lives, but not like mine. Thank you for being the best teammate. I will always cherish that experience, and I will cherish our relationship forever."
    What relationship was he talking about? Was he lying just to make people think they were buddies? Or is he lying about it now? Maybe he said so many awful things about MJ that MJ will never talk to him again so why not tell everyone that they were never that close?

    I think it’s important to respect the amount of control over your ego you need to have to be as humble as Scottie had been up until recent memory. When you’re part of something on that level of greatness but playing second fiddle, you’re literally known around the world as number two. I’m sure most of the time that’s a great thing but at the same time I can see how after decades the word “Robin” can become haunting. It’s like a constant reminder that you’re not the best.
    Add in general crankiness/elevated concern over legacy that comes with aging, a documentary where you feel under appreciated and the son of #1 banging your ex-wife and you get what we see here. I’m not mad at Scottie and I’m not really even disappointed in him, it’s just a sad situation. Yet another example of how greatness can damage someone’s heart and mind. Reminds me of how the Beatles often treated each other post-break up.

    came out bragging about he and MJ being the best duo in NBA history. Instead, he
    turned into a bitter old man before he even got old.
    I hate all the hypotheticals this interviewer poses. Dude, what could have happened did.
    Just a waste of time. While speculating might be fun, it's a stupid exercise. Pippen, if you
    could have won 6 without MJ, you would have. You couldn't even win one without MJ,
    and you had your chances.
    It's not good enough to be a BIG part of a double 3-peat. Oh no, you've got to put MJ down.

People saying we wouldnt even know who he is dont know basketball. Jordan was a great offensive force in the 80s. But playing the triangle and being an all around team player is something else. Pip and Jordan learned together. They pushed each other. Pip had potential. Acting like in any other situation hed be a bum is crazy. There were other good teams with good coaches. No one has 6 rings unless pippin and jordan play together. You couldnt replace pip on that team with some other random super star and expect it to work. Pip played a very specific role.

    In all those scenarios, Scottie forgets that he doesn't become THE Scottie Pippen without MJ pushing him. He is looking at all those scenarios from the perch of a battle-hardened 6-time champion, which is not what he would be in all those scenarios. He didn't come into the league instantly a defensive juggernaut. He became that by playing alongside and feeding off MJ's competitive vibe, and Michael feeding off him and them being a great duo.
    I don't doubt he would still have been a great player. Jordan would still be the same Jordan in all those scenarios, but Scottie will be something else.

    I’ve really enjoyed this interview over the last few days. I do think as Jordan is known to be fairly social some of the non socializing probably is indicative of Pippens personality, and some may be that after the first few seasons when MJ became the leader he was fully, he may have spent more of that social energy with non teammates. Possibly.

      There was tons of stuff in there that didn't have to do with the final season. It was all the context that made it great. Like Jordan coming back in 95 just to lose to the Magic wasn't MJs favorite moment, or all the gambling drama, or the Isaiah Thomas drama, but all that stayed in too.

    When it comes to broken relationships, I don’t believe any outsider can catalyze reconciliation. The two people have to mutually find it within themselves to want to repair the relationship and it more or less has to happen within the same period of time. The reality is simply that no one knows the benefits of the relationship better than the people that were in it and those benefits obviously weren’t enough to keep them together. Simply getting over the bad may be enough to temper any hostility, but the two sides can’t truly get back together without finding new ways to be good.

  • @bogdanoprea8967

    It's tough to see your heroes part ways for, i would say, nothing. MJ didn't say anything bad about Pip, not while they played 2gether, not after, not even in the "Last dance" , quit the opposite, he always mentioned Pip, praised him as a bb player and a friend. Even in his HOF speach lol like another gentleman pointed out. Pip, on the other hand, since he got in the "analyst" position with LEspn, often changed sides and got back on his comments, actually many times he didn't even tell the truth so my point is, take whatever he says now with care, not as undisputed truth. But, even so, let's say the MJ text to him is true. So, MJ had to learn from tv that his friend, Pippen, is mad with him(strike one). He did reach to his friend to ask him what's up but said friend cut ties(strike two). And after that, just a slew of horrors from said friend while not even a bad word from MJ in response(strike three). And i don't think he realizes he's making his case worse with this. Cause otherwise, we all thought that he got mad about the doc series and MJ didn't try to mend fences, they didn't talk to each other since. But wait, now we know that MJ tried to... Btw, i didn't see MJ refusing to play and throwing tantrums but i saw Pip so...that kind of says everything about character as well.

    Scottie Pippen has 1 million percent the cause of the tension between him and Jordan!!! Jordan said "Scottie Pippen made kind of a selfish decision to wait until the season began to get his surgery done instead of the Summer because it cost the Bulls a half season without Pippen" which is an absolute 100% FACT!!! Michael Jordan wouldn't have ever put Scottie Pippen and the Bulls in that position and everyone (who is old enough to have watched Jordan play and remember how serious Jordan took his job) knows that and would bet their house on that fact especially knowing how irritated Jordan was with the Bulls ownership when they wouldn't allow him to play very much after breaking his foot!!! And Scottie Pippen only has himself to blame for the criticism that he's received after "The Last Dance" because he doubled down on his comment refusing to re-enter the game because of the play being drawn up for Kukoc and "Not ruining his Summer by getting his surgery because of his contract stuff" even though he was told blatantly by Jerry Reinsdorf "I wouldn't sign this deal if I was you" but Scottie Pippen signed it anyway and before Jerry Reinsdorf finalized it he again blatantly told Scottie Pippen "Don't come back to me and ask to have your contract restructured" and again Pippen signed it anyway, him pulling that shit was a million percent based on selfishness PERIOD!!!

    However, Scottie never plays with MJ, does he turn into the Scottie Pippen we knew? Idk if Dominique would've been able to bring the best out of Scottie like that. Or Clyde ( who was freaking awesome as well ) where as I think the scenario where MJ and Barkley together they would probably get 3 maybe 4 rings.
    Chuck couldn't defend like Scottie which puts far more pressure on MJ to be that stopper. Which means he gets no rest at all. And to me that's the biggest difference. Now if let's say MJ Chuck and Harper together ( a little earlier than when Harper joined the Bulls ) then yeah I could see those 3 together winning 5 or 6 rings just because Harper was an excellent defender and MJ could take a break on the defensive end sometimes.

    The truth is Scottie Pippen was a great, all-around teammate, and he believes he should get as much praise for being a great role player as Michael did for being the star. He feels like he helped put Michael in position to be known as the greatest but is denied that credit. Or maybe, he feels like calling Michael the greatest for winning six rings discounts his contribution. Or maybe, he's just insanely jealous he couldn't be as great as MJ. and I thought, man, you only live once, and I just tried to contact him again, and it just didn't work. I hardly heard back from him. (And coincidentally, my mother died at the time I had contacted him, and he didn't even come to the funeral or ask about it or anything, even though he was a often at home with us as a teenager/kid)
    and I think that once something, a relationship, a friendship, whatever, has ended, in 99.9% of cases never revive it, that's just how life is, unfortunately.

    The only person Pippen would have won a championship is MJ. People don’t count for MJ actually raising him up in the league. Dressler would have never done that, therefore Pippen wouldn’t have been that level of a player. Great player raise the level on other players.

      absolutely. MJ created Pippen, it was never the other way around. MJ was already THAT GUY when Pippen arrived

    Scottie is lying full stop. He had Jordan induct him into the hall of fame, and in that speech he called Jordan a close and great friend while Jordan is standing there next to him.
    They also trained together in the first threepeat.
    And there's multiple videos of Jordan taking scottie with him to go golf during the championships and the dream team.
    Go watch it

    8:15 some would be all hardcore “what you said money?” I grew up poor too. Not even as bad as Pippen. It leaves a mark on you. Always stressed. I get where he’s coming from

    Possible if he stayed in Seattle.
    Payton, Kemp, Pippen.
    But they would beat the Bulls, Lakers, the Rockets and the Jazz first.
    You cannot predict 6 rings regardless were you play.

      The question is does Pippen become the pippen we know in Seattle

    • @TheRealMindCrime
      @TheRealMindCrime  12 днів тому

      the problem i have with the whole thing is Pippen was built in Chicago by being Jordans partner. Without that then I don't imagine Pippen would ever become the all around player we got to watch

    I know it seems weird “wow they’re a TEAM” these guys they worked together. There’s plenty of people “that dude is awesome at what he does but I don’t need to spend extra time with him”

      @TheRealMindCrime  12 днів тому +2

      that's fair, it's not so much about whether they're close or not. Its that Pippen bashed Jordan constantly from 2020 on. I can not wanna hang out with someone and also not say a bunch of slander about them

    Pippen saying he'd get 6 without Jordan is a bit much, but I can admit that Wilkins and Pippen is a much better duo than Kenny Smith and MJ. Jordan doesn't win 6 with Kenny.

    Sorry but Pippen just pissed me off cause he's lying! If anyone with eyes and ears goes back to watch that Dream Team documentary, you can see Michael Jordan pulling on and calling Pippen to get on the bus to go so they can go golfing. That's bs! Scottie still has hate in his heart for Jordan and it's coming from a place of jealously.

    • @TheRealMindCrime
      @TheRealMindCrime  12 днів тому

      well said! That's why this was so hard for me to react to. I know what he's saying isn't true and I'm dumbfounded that he thinks if he says he didn't see a certain thing or whatever than that means it didn't happen. We all have eyes and ears

    17:44 I know this is all hypothetical, but …. T. Porter C. Drexler S. Pippen B. Williams & K. Duckworth ?!?! I ain’t sayin it’s guaranteed but that woulda been a HELL of a starting 5 🔥🔥….. (I’m just sayin) 🤷🏾‍♂️

    12:42 Yes 33….3 + 3 does equal 6 championships, 12:54 but 23….. 2 x 3 also equals 6 championships……I thought you knew. 12:43

      Plus 3+3 is two three-peats. So it’s clever humor and even though 2 x 3 equals 6, it’s not two three-peats so 3-3 is correct for the joke….12:42

    I'm not sure how MJ feels about the situations with Barkley, Pippen, Isiah etc. I would say life is too short for grudges but maybe he is at peace with how things ended up.
    Scottie, on the other hand, definitely seems a bit bitter, that he was underpaid was pretty universally recognized even at the time, but is it just that? I can imagine it must be annoying being asked about MJ instead of yourself all the time, but I think you kind of have to expect it will come up eventually, especially during long interviews.
    Still, it is a shame about everything. I remember a few years back they even had some sort of tour with Pippen, Longley (?) and some others where they would disparage the Bulls' teams and their legacy. I don't know, was it the same with other great teams before or was there really something toxic with the Bulls? I would imagine e.g. someone like AC Green didn't really approve of what the Lakers were doing, but I don't remember him going on some revenge tour about it. Maybe players from before simply decided to let things lie in the past.

  • @704Nike
    @704Nike 12 днів тому +1

    14:20 first of all if they don’t pick Scottie, Scottie doesn’t become the player he became, and the bulls would’ve just picked Kevin Johnson who in my opinion if he practices and guards Michael everyday in practice he becomes a better player then Scottie. 🤷🏾‍♂️ so I think Jordan maybe get 7. Because Johnson would’ve been more help in 89-90 seasons as well.

    I reckon Scottie's just taking the piss, he's got a glint in his eye when he says all the controversial stuff, seems like he's just so sick of the whole GOAT debate (which he feels isn't important in a team game) and is being controversial for the hell of it. All these hypothetical questions are daft too, I would probably be stringing this guy along too if I was sat there and all the talk was about my team mate. We'd call him a wind-up merchant over here. 😄

    You can tell how much cope Scottie was dealing with by how awkward he was acting. Jealousy is a bitch
