Not only does it look like its OEM and built into the car, what sold me is its wireless charging capability! I have seen so many phone holders for the tesla, however it just holds the phone and does not charge. If it does, you have to deal with the cord running to the 12v power supply port in the center console. This phone holder offers a seamless look with no view of any power cord. Here is what’s included when you receive your new phone mount. The actual phone holder with the attached cord, the exact wheel column plastic cover replica, a wiring connector that plugs into the original tesla column cord, and finally the included tools you’ll need to install this mount yourself. So let's dive right into this installation process here. First thing we are going to do is remove the side panel with the included pry tool and also this side trim piece if you have a gen 1 dashboard like I do here. Once you have both of these pieces removed, repeat the process on the passenger side too. After the removal of these pieces, set them to the side and now we are going to gently tug the dash panel upward toward the windshield. You should hear some clips releasing on both ends of the dashboard. After the dash is loosened and you are able to move it, just place it right on top of your permanent dashboard. Now directly behind the steering wheel column you will see these two plastic buttons that will need to be removed. Just use your included pry bar again to remove these. What I did is put the steering wheel column all the way out so I could place my hands under the frame for easy removal. Please take your time doing this… just gently pull upward to loosen the clips and eventually the entire top section of the wheel column will come out. As you can see the wheel column cover from the phone holder on the left is nearly identical to the OEM tesla cover. It’s not a perfect match but hardly noticeable in both direct and indirect sunlight.
Next, we are going to place the wireless phone charger on top of the mount by running the cord through the center hole and placing the mount on top like so. Once attached, use the included screws to tighten the phone mount on top of the wheel column. There are two holes on either end of the mount under the wheel column frame.
Under the driver side footwell panel we have to remove one plastic button with the included pry bar and one screw that's a torx 20 bit that you can use from the kit or use your own tool like I did. After both of these are removed, pull down on the panel and it should come down about half way. We don't need the entire panel off just slightly as you see here so we can fish the wire through. If you are finding this video helpful, consider liking this video and subscribing to the channel so other current and future tesla owners can find it. I would really appreciate it.
Taking our assembled steering column panel with the attached phone mount, place it over the top of the steering column wheel with the wheel extended all the way out still. Clip in the wire to the phone holder mount and tuck away the wire down below the steering column.
Finally align the top panel with the holes of the bottom portion of the steering wheel column. They will all clip and align into each other perfectly. Take your time doing this making sure everything is properly aligned. Then push the top panel back into place until it meets evenly with both column sections. There should be no gaps. After successful installment we just have to re-install the dashboard by aligning the dash with the frame and holes of the bottom dash. Push down throughout the dash panel as you will hear it clipping back into place. Snap in the side pieces from the dashboard and last but not least re-attached the plastic panels on both ends below the dashboard. And that's it!

I've seen this product a couple of times, but never realized how functional it was until I watched this video. Well done.
Evan - Of all the Tesla accessories videos, yours has always been the most impressive. Nicely done.
Wow, thanks!
I wish they made a MagSafe version. I would love that!!
Agreed. If they come out with a MagSafe version, I might pull the trigger for this.
Bro, you continue to impress me with these videos. Very informative!
Glad to hear it!
Thanks for the review and the installation. Ordered mine, with your discount code, and installed mine just now. Followed your video step by step and had it perfectly installed in under and hour. Thanks so much!
Thanks! Enjoy!
Evan, that is the most impressive accessory that I've seen in a long time! Thank you for sharing it today. Someone makes a double round display that installs just like yours, but that one would block some of the air that I love directed at my face, but yours is nice, compact and I could use it without anything being mounted in it.
That is pretty dope. You’ve gained my sub
I think this holder would pair well with a third party yoke. Good review!
lol going for all the hustle for a phone mount. No thanks. I'll use the old school windshield mount.
enjoy!
Excellent review. Was really excited about this mount! Followed the video instructions, installation was a snap.. Attached my phone, NO power.. Took everything apart and repeated from scratch taking extra care to ensure that I didn't miss anything.. NO POWER.. FRUSTRATED. Guess I'll be testing out the companies customer service going forward.. Bummed..
Note: Full disclosure for review purposes.. Shipping time was pretty good. Product packaged very well and all looked very nice and as close to OEM as could be. Position on the wheel was excellent. Only the power function did not work. As a mount alone it was outstanding. Still, we pay for a charging mount. Wanted to be fair.
Sorry to hear this man... yes please reach out to them and if you do not have success, I can reach out to my source. Thank you!
@@EMtesla1 I appreciate that and will let all know how it turned out. Your install video was super helpful, thanks..
Those red colours next to your steer really fuckt up your interieur design.
Ok then! Thank you lol
Hi Evan, great install brother!
Thank you for making a video on this, I'll use urs to install mine.
Thank you !
I have a similar phone holder but don’t have that wire adapter/connector. I run my wiring to the back USB port. Is there any way to obtain just that connector? Also, does anyone know if the power strength is the same from this connection as the rear USB port?
Is this even easier for electrical set up now being that the wires run through the top section on the dash in the 2023 models now? I have an m3 and have a Samsung so all these newer mag safe bs chargers won’t work and I love the idea of it right behind the wheel
I wish it had an on/off switch. Sometimes my phone is charged and I just want to put it somewhere secure. This would be perfect except it would keep charging it. I only charge to 80% by the way so that’s the issue for me. Great product though!!!
Just installed. Works great. Thanks!
Has anyone installed this on a model y 23 year. And in the UK?
Thanks for the vid dude.
Very very nice product and video.
Thank you!
Really awesome piece of tech…thanks for your video. 👍🏼😎
Thanks for watching!
Evan thanks for this great video, it is even better when you fit it, this is definitely one of the best mods I have fitted thanks for letting me know
If you get rear-ended you’re going to take a phone to the face lol! That said it’s a clean product. I’d like to see the next version of this product have some height adjustability and MagSafe. Qi chargers just keep up with power use while navigating/listening to music on full brightness.
Thank you for this tutorial. Just bought one of these. I think it will go great with my Hansshow yoke!
Perfect!
@@EMtesla1 Oh and your coupon code saved me about $30 so thank you for that as well! I didn’t like the wood trim on the dash so I bought one of those 2 piece plastic covers and I dig the outcome. I hope the cover won’t interfere with the installation of the phone mount. If so, I’ll be removing the cover since the mount will likely be more useful to me. Also, the cover does block some of the airflow so I won’t be too upset if I have to. Cheers!
Thank you for your reviews! what is the material on the "stalk" for the phone? How robust do you feel this is? I really like this product but have concerns as to the fragility of the stalk with daily repeated use of placing the phone in and out...especially here in the brutal Florida sun. Whats your thoughts?
I think it’s very study… should last a very long time. I’ve been using it for a month or so and have no issues.
Very good instructional video. But why would people go through all that for a phone mount?
Seamless integration and its wireless charging
Exactly. No dangling wires and I can now easily use Waze when I want without it being so low that I have to take my eyes off the road.
Watch Netflix while driving 😁
Perfect location for a speedometer app, if you want to show yur parents that yes, your Model 3 has a speedometer behind the wheel. But even better, this is a great spot to run Waze or Apple Maps which have far smarter rerouting abilities, graphics, speech directions, and police speed trap notifications
Yes just seemless when finished. I also deliberately left the two swivel mount base screws off so it can be quickly un plugged and removed for original look. But never have removed it as it really is a better car with it installed.
I really want that for sure, but I don't feel comfortable taking my car apart to install it.
That’s dope !
Item ordered. Will keep you guys posted. Hopefully it's sturdy and holds the phone tightly. Btw do you know if they will accept returns? It doesn't look flimsy but good to know my options.
Hey Evan, great install video/review! Just received my charger and I have one question, not sure if you’d know the answer, but maybe someone else here encountered this…I have a 2019 sr+ m3 and I have the Hansshow DIY audio harness installed. This harness uses the same blue connector that this charger splices into. Is it safe to split this connection again to install the charger? I definitely don’t want to lose my premium audio I completely forgot it used that connection it’s been a while since I installed it.
That’s a good question… I would think it would be fine since the phone splitter only uses the power cord in the adapter. Let me know how it works.
@@EMtesla1 will do!
@@EMtesla1 I can confirm that this charger can integrate with the Hansshow DIY premium audio harness without issue. A little cramped in that pillar panel with cabling but no issues I was able to secure it all without issue. For reference, I connected the charger harness to the factory harness first, then paired the Hansshow harness to the charger harness and then back to the factory harness. Not sure if the order matters, but the order I did it in worked. So far so good!
Can it turn vertically, or is it only the horizontal position?
only horizontal
This look nice 👍
Need mag safe!
Why are there no MagSafe Tesla options?
I’ll have to keep an eye out!
@@EMtesla1 wait, I think it might be mag safe! I saw the rings come on when you put your phone on it!
I mean, it holds the phone and wirelessly charges, I do not think a magnet is needed.
I think it is a MagSafe. Evan, what iphone were you charging?
iPhone 13
Great video Evan,
Wanted to ask, have you had any issues with heat while the phone is on the holder?
I have issues with my Tesla Model Y charge pad heating up my phone to a point that I once got the IPhone overheat alert message on my screen.
I don’t normally use wireless charges (normally use the cord to charge my phone at home or other vehicles) so I am worried that the built in wireless charger will overheat my phone as well.
Specially when running Waze for a long period of time. Have you run into this issue? Overheating while on the holder?
Thanks !
Unfortunately wireless charging does generate heat due to the inefficiencies of wireless charging. Turning down screen brightness will help your phone stay a bit cooler.
There is no much you can do with an iPhone on horizontal mode except Maps, but you already have google maps in the the Tesla Infotainment screen. Besides charging, is there anything else you get from that?
A lot of folks like using Waze maps rather than google maps.
Yes waze is the clincher here. The phone charging is a nice bonus for those times when waze or some other instrument app is in use. Mostly I use the speedometer.
That would look great with a yoke
Does the phone holder limit the range of motion that the steering wheel has in terms of adjustability? Looking at my steering wheel and where this would go it seems like it might limit how far the wheel could be pushed in when at higher positions.
No it does not… it will extended and retract all the way without any interference of the wheel. Thank you!
If you install this and need to bring the car in to the Tesla Service Center, would you need to remove it? I wouldn't want the Tesla techs to say anything if they're diagnosing or repairing my car.
I don’t, they’ve seen it a couple times and I’ve have no issues. This may vary based on your service center lol.
Hello Evan,
I liked your video. Is this company in the USA?
I do not think they are in the US.
Hey great video! Do you if the iPad mini fits there? Thanks.
I doubt it… it won’t expand that large
@@EMtesla1 oh ok. Thanks.
Apple has not licensed MagSafe to anyone except Belkin as far as I can tell, so this will charge an iPhone slowly at 7.5W instead of the max 15W for MagSafe. This device would be better if it allowed you to insert an Apple MagSafe charging puck you supply yourself, so you’d get faster charging.
Is that any different then than the charging pad already in the 2021 MY?
Hi, a bit late to the party here but I'm seriously considering this. Does this void my Tesla warranty?
No it’s all plug and play. It can be removed with no problem.
@@EMtesla1 thanks for replying
Does this block air coming from the vents?
Not that I have noticed…
Anyway you are in east coast coast amd I can pay you for this install :)
Yea I’m in Georgia, I’d be happy to install it for you
Hello, what about the charging power on your side ? It's that bad here that I wonder if I won't reopen everything to check cables again. On iPhone 13 pro, waze + music on BT = battery decrease slowly. And you ?
Hmm. It charges at a fast rate for me.
@@EMtesla1 Sorry, didn't see you had an affiliate code... It's funny because like all your YT colleague, as soon as the video is live, you removed the stuff from your car. Yes, OEM look, yes good point of view. But then, no, it doesn't charge enough, clamps come almost on volume buttons and it's absolutely not magsafe which is really a design scam. Anyway, thanks for your answer.
I never said it was MagSafe. Also I remove stuff as new items come to the market. Thank you
@@EMtesla1 I know you didn't. Manufacturer probably didn't. But look at an Apple Magsafe and this charger and tell me it's not a scam. Btw I like your accessories videos, my wallet doesn't :)
Did you add something to your steering wheel sticks? Lol idk the name for them.
Yes, you can find them here 👉🏻 amzn.to/3kygM70

Sorry, no f*cking way, I’m pulling apart my car just to put a phone mount on
ok thank you
Will a galaxy fold 3 fit in this phone mount?
I do not think a phone of that size would fit this mount.
Man if I didn’t lease mine… I’ll probably buy mine tho at the end sooo 🤔
Does anyone with this mount happen to know if it is compatible with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, when unfolded? Thank you in advance!
You haven't had any issues with rattling from this kit have you?
No sir!
I installed it a few days ago and got on the Autobahn for the first time today. The holder itself doesn’t move and is perfect. But I have a strong rattling within the dashboard - I assume from the cable. Anyone experienced this yet?
If this is the case.. you can get some felt tape on amazon and this will resolve that cable rattle no problem. It must be the way it’s placed in the steering column.
You did all the work to put your phone behind your steering wheel because you wanted to use different navigation than what comes built into your car, and then you use Goolag Maps, the same crappy navigation that comes built into the car, lmao. Try Apple Maps, it's far more accurate, private, and useful in North America.
Alrighty then negative Nancy
Does the steering wheel still go all the way back?
Yes and all the way forward
@@EMtesla1 thanks man
Hi would anyone know if this mount will fit a iPhone 13 pro Max?
Yes it will… I have tried it
That will void warranty?
Any Tesla accessory can void a warranty. You can just remove it.
Probably not comfortable to access phone screen because it’s behind the wheel.
its also not comfortable leaning forward and down into the center console to get it in my opinion.
Cool, but way too much work, geesh
wow.......
Wish it was a magsafe charger and black. that would look like it was meant to be, but this looks a little out of place with silver and white.
Thanks for your feedback!
all that for a charger?
Thanks for commenting.. what alternatives do you have? I'd like to feature it in a video.
That’s way too much work to view your phone while driving lol
Ok thanks for commenting
Why does it connect to the harness?
Sorry I’m not sure what you’re asking
@@EMtesla1 there's a power cord and a wire harness you connected to the car, or did I see that incorrectly?
Yea the included wire harness/ power cord has to connect to the original Tesla wiring to provide power to the phone charger.
@@EMtesla1 ok, I thought maybe the harness synced with the car to provide more features
No sir. Just to provide power
Bye Bye warranty
100$ no ty
That’s awesome!
Does this mount allow the phone to rotate to portrait mode?
No, it just stays in landscape mode.
@@EMtesla1 Thanks. Bummer. I like everything else about it.
