I suffered from hair loss for years; from about the age of 35 on…I obsessed over it, and cried way too many tears too. My mother has thinning hair so I knew deep down this was hereditary. I tried so many remedies but stopped short of minoxidil. Having my first and only child at the age of 43 did not help my situation one bit. I became depressed and hated myself. Finally in 2020, in the summer of covid lockdown, I made the decision to shave my head. My life began again that day. To walk down a hair care aisle and not give a crap is freeing in ways I can’t even describe. I will never obsess about my hair again. While I’m not saying to cut your hair off or give up searching for answers completely; I will challenge you to just accept what’s happening and love yourself as you are. You are BEAUTIFUL Cassandra. I hope you find relief from worrying about your hair ❤️

I am glad that you feel free and at peace with the choice to shave your head- I've thought about it many times, but my hair is almost to my bum so I'm more obsessed than ever to try and salvage my hairline. So my question to you is, how long did you use minoxidil for and did you see any sort of results from it? I bought a bottle a few days ago, so I am waiting for it to arrive. Kinda bummed that I would need to use it indefinitely though.

I’m happy you are free of this burden but it would be a mistake for her to not search for the underlying cause before accepting her fate to be hairless.. I would be still be anemic & vit d deficient had my hair not started falling out prompting me to get testing done! I was so fatigued and dizzy yet clueless to what was going on because it was so insidious! Slow & gradual symptoms I just thought I was stressed and tired from work & COViD.

I did the same! I shaved my head 3 times in my life. First time when I was like 20, then 26 and when I was 36 after I gave birth to my first baby. Now I am 39 and after having my second baby I am back on minoxidil and kinda letting them grow, but FUCK it! If I feel done again I will shave it in a heart bear. I am not my hair. I am a person. I love having shaved head. Usually people do not care but some noisy individuals comment and pity me and I pity them for being close minded

Rosemary would probably be a better alternative to peppermint to add to your shampoo, as it isn’t as irritating to the skin and eyes, and has been known to stimulate hair regrowth, and there are other benefits to rosemary as well. It has antiviral, antibacterial and anti fungal properties, and is a powerful antioxidant.

Hello!🌷 I agree with that. I am using once a week rosemary essential oil mixed in my balsam/hair conditioner. I like smell of it in my hair after washing my hair. Another thing I do to stimulate my hair follicles is to finish my hair washing with a cold water. My roots are also oily and I have dry ends. My favorite shampoo is with nettles. Nettles are known for hundreds of years because of the amount of minerals and vitamins they contain. It also contains a lot of iron, which is necessary for hair growth. I do even an extra step once a week: I have a nettle tea bags, so I make a strong tea with two bags and close my cup, let it become a room temperature tea and then I use it for my hair as the last step after my conditioner. I do not wash it out. My hair becomes very silky and glossy after that. I am not sure if it helps my hair to grow (It's hard to know or measure), but I love how my hair feels after. You can try it just for fun, it will not hurt your hair-you might love it. Good luck Cassandra! Lots of love from Sweden! 💝🙌👸

If you’re adding it to your shampoo peppermint oil or tea tree oil is a good additive. If you’re going to use rosemary oil make sure it’s in a carrier and put it on your scalp and massage directly into your scalp

Rosemary oil, if you're going to use it, was used as a leave-on treatment in the study. You could add a few drops to a scalp oil that you like and massage it in. My middle child, who has dry scalp, likes the Pattern scalp serum, and says it absorbs well. If you're trying to embrace your natural curl, what helped my hair a lot was 1: stop styling with direct heat until your damaged hair grows out and you can cut it off, or if you are going to heat style, use a heat protectant. 2: Protect your hair at night with something like a satin bonnet, pillow case, or wrap. 3: Assess a new product's ingredients based on the oiliness (or lack thereof) of your scalp before you buy it. 4: Give a new product some time before you decide it sucks (unless you're having a reaction). It might be that you're not applying the right amount or with the right amount of water for it to work. 5: Don't be afraid to return or give things away if they don't work for you!

I would definitely consider getting a thyroid panel done, checking for all three; T4,T3, and TSH. It’s hard to get bioavailable nutrients in a vegan diet which can have a huge impact on the thyroid and consequently your hormones. I was vegan for 3 1/2 years and it made me lose about half the hair on my head. Not saying that you have to stop being vegan but I would definitely look into if that’s what’s causing the hair loss or not.

Mild ‘traumas’ to your system can produce hair growth, whereas more extreme ‘traumas’ such as illness (and their prevention and treatment measures) can result in hair loss. The hair growth phase is cyclic so keep in mind that just like it can take months after a system shock for hair loss to begin, any treatments you try can take months for any effects to show up. Derma pens, dermaplanning, light therapy, even ensuring good exfoliation are pretty low risk treatment options that might work to stimulate hair growth provided the underlying hair follicle is still viable. If it isn’t, FUE is a great option to look into. There’s also been so much research into this because of the events of the past two years (the virus and the vaccinations were demonstrated to be enough of a ‘system shock’ to produce hair loss months after exposure), so whilst I mentioned a few options, keep a look out for many more. You can stay up to date by subscribing to the dermatology associations newsletter which regularly updates on new treatment options and trials. Like I know it’s aimed at practitioners, but is still quite useful for the general public to get a sense of the many advances happening in hair loss treatment and prevention right now. Hope that helps and best wishes to you too 😊🌸😊

I wondered if there isn’t something I can talk to my primary care doctor or dermatologist about to help with thinning hair. I am on methotrexate, which is a chemotherapy drug, which I know it does not help and I am also on prednisone and I will never probably get off either of them but I don’t want that to mean that my hair is just doomed to get worse and worse as time goes on

I tried so many of the things you mentioned for about 3 yrs with no success (but definitely a lighter wallet). I finally just followed my dermatologist's recommendation and used the LIQUID version (not foam) of minoxidil. She specifically recommended Costco's version that you can only buy online, not in stores. It was about $20 for a 6 month supply and I FINALLY saw hair growth. I've been using it once a day for almost 5 months and it's so incredible I could cry while writing this. I used nothing else during this time except Nizoral shampoo once or twice a week (also at the suggestion of my derm). So when you're through using or trying all the other things, at least give it a try! It's not fast, but it can certainly work for many people! Tips from someone who suffered hair loss after extreme weight loss/stress (not sure if the same will help if it’s alopecia, but this is working for me)
    - give hair a break from heat/bleach/dye
    - multivitamins (make sure to get checked for any deficiencies)
    - varied diet (nuts, fruits, veg, eggs, oily fishes and meat high in protein for biotin)
    - scalp massager for when you’re washing hair to help stimulate hair follicle growth
    - hair oil to protect ends of hair
    - braid hair rather than put in tight buns to avoid strain on the hair
    - frequent cuts (chopping my hair short helped my hair appear fuller when it was at it’s thinnest!!)
    - hair masks which include rosemary oil to put in overnight before wash days
    - patience! After starting to lose my hair in 2020, I’m now only starting to grow back to the volume it used to be!

I'm 53 yo. My hair started thinning in my late 30s due to thyroid and autoimmune disease (I am aware of your medical conditions from a prior video). In October 2021, I stopped coloring my hair (previously done by a professional once monthly). For the 10 years leading-up to my stopping color, I had scalp pain and lost hair every time I had my hair colored, especially along the frontal hairline (much like you). In the last 7 months since stopping the color, I've had a huge amount of hair regrowth and my part line has filled in in a way I thought was no longer possible - scalp pain disappeared 3 months from stopping the coloring. While I realize my hair will never be what it was in my 30s, the improvement from stopping coloring alone has been amazing. All that said, if you color your hair, the chemicals in the color may be contributing to your hair loss. Had I known how coloring was impacting my hair, I would have embraced silver/gray in my early 40s and rocked it like so many younger women who have embraced their natural color. Just something to think about.

I was diagnosed at age 5 with the onset of it and just recently actually had genetic testing for my psychologist appointments and found this out and it’s kind of a common genetic trait. I’ve been having a lot of issues with different foods affecting me as I get older but obviously they can play a role in inflammation as well. Maybe I should ask some questions about that to my rheumatologist. At age 37, I still suffer from rheumatoid arthritis that goes through spurts and I am on it so many biologic medications and steroids and different things and have already had six joint replacements, all before the age of 30. Genetic testing is so fascinating.

I have had hair loss to the point my scalp was starting to burn when sitting out in the sun. I believe it is hormonal hair loss, as my mom has it too. I do a lot of things, but the ONE thing that grew back my hair was the Minoxidil 5%. I also added the ordinary hair density, and I have an i-grow led helmet, but even though I do those other two, it is the Minoxidil 5% that stopped my hair loss (it was coming out so fast!) and then grew back my hair in my hair line. I was also embarrassed by my widening part - and this has solved it. It convinced my Mom to do it too, and she has results. Yes, it can make your hair a bit icky, but do it at night, and brush out your hair the next day and it is worth it!! I swear. Good luck! I know how disheartening this can be and it is wonderful you are sharing. But I promise, do the Minoxidil for 3 months and see.

I have pretty severe hair loss that started when I was 15. I'm now 30 and just went to see a dermatologist about it last summer. I was prescribed spironolactone and started oral Minoxidil a couple of months after that and I'm already seeing positive change in my hair. It will take me another couple of months to see the full effects of my medications but I'm very encouraged so far. I had a scalp punch biopsy and it's confirmed that I have androgenetic alopecia and I just feel lucky that my body is responding to spironolactone and Minoxidil (I started with topical, then switched to oral Minoxidil). I haven't had any side effects from the meds so I'm able to take them indefinitely. Or at least until I hit menopause. Btw, I asked my dermatologist (who is also a hair loss specialist) if I should consider changing my diet or adding vitamins and supplements and she said not to. And I also use OTC Nizoral shampoo every few days.

Hi, Cassandra I am happy and very proud of you for sharing your struggles with us since I believe it helps other to find awareness and to seek help.... I am 41 years old also vegan I started my journey since I was 11( eating whole foods and minimizing animal suffering) and in my experience has always brought nothing but good things among good health! I was diagnosed with telegen efluvium at the beginning of this year.... it took me a year to ask for help🙃 ( divorce, the pandemic, fear a lot uncertainty, loosing my job ) so a lot of stress going on!! After 6 months, when the pandemic started i noticed massive hair shedding that kept getting worst and worst!! while I know there are many reasons for hair loss genetics, diet deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and stress in my case what helped me tremendously was incorporating vitamins , shampoo and conditioner with DHT blockers that was the game changer plus, minimizing stress ( I know very hard when you see clumps of hair falling off🥺 ) but with patience, lots of self love ❤️ pampering yourself anything that makes you happy 😊 facials, 💆‍♀️ massages, pets, exercising, reading 📚 educating ourselves specially about hair loss is the key to understand what we are dealing with and take action.... Diet plays a huge role in hair loss so please make sure you are eating enough protein, vitamin D, zinc, iron, biotin , healthy fats, lots of fruits and veggies, fermented foods, drinking lots of water ( please take care of your gut everything starts there ) inflammation #1 disbalances in our gut creates a lot problems for our health so again always seek professional help...... here are my recommendations adding probiotics and prebiotics ( there is a product called SEED excellent in my opinion) so from vitamins( Foligrowth Advance Trichology with DHT blockers ) i highly recommend watching Dr. Williams Gaunitz he is full of knowledge he created amazing products and videos that addresses the cause of hair loss, and will benefit you then for shampoo and conditioner Botanical Green Care they are beyond the best!! organic, pure essential oils, and selective ingredients that work together to block DHT that is the main cause of hair loss.... ( the tea tree eucalyptus is my favorite and thr lemongrass ) and the best part they smell divine, leave your hair soft and manageable ( i have long hair ) and is so good for your scalp then I only recommend once a month to oil your hair no more than that and don't leave over night only for and hour since you don't want to create build up and make things worst the brand I use is blue beautifly amalaki oil scalp serum..... and the most important and sometimes overlooked advise is sleep 😴 so make sure you are getting enough sleep! I hope this truly helps! I saw improvement in just a month and after 5 months in this protocol my hair shedding is minimal back to normal, lots of hair growing! so happy 🙂😃 wishing everyone much health, peace and hapiness!! God bless you all!! And Good luck in your journeys !!❤️🤗✨️

After being on strong prescription meds during some major illness a few years ago, I was losing way more than a few strands of hair each day like normal. My fine hair was getting so thin that my pink scalp was showing through all over my head. I did a lot of research, and found ingredients in common in supplement blends that had a lot of people who said they worked. I didn't order the blends, just the ingredients that my research showed worked. I started taking saw palmetto, biotin, DHEA, moringa, B-complex, and magnesium. I also take Vitamin C and a multi-mushroom capsule, but those are for my immune system. Anyway, my blend worked! It took a couple of months, but I suddenly noticed little hairs about and inch long all over my head. I had thought that my hair was breaking off and was seriously worried until I realized this was new growth. Now, a few years later, I have no gaps and scalp areas peeking through. My hair is still fine, but I have a lot more of it. This worked for me.

I sympathize with your plight. I am menopausal, and I think that’s the root of my hair loss, although my hair has always been fine and easily broken. The last year has been very stressful, and I’m sure that hasn’t helped. I am opting for the natural approach… I have stopped dying my hair (which I know is awful for it), and I’m letting the grey grow in. The cool part is that it gives me a clear line to determine where I am starting the “hair healing” journey. I have switched over to “The Kure” by Anika for hair care, and I’m using The Ordinary’s hair serum. Here’s a tip - don’t dribble it on your scalp. Put a couple of drops on your fingers, hold your head upside down, and carefully thread your fingers in at the scalp to rub in the oil. It takes about 6-8 drops to cover my whole scalp this way, and there is no greasiness. I only wash my hair once a week, so that’s saying something. Washing your hair less, using a wide-toothed comb instead of a brush, and using something anti-frizz will also help. I’m early in my journey, but I’m really hopeful… if I can’t grow any more, I at least don’t want to lose any more. Good luck to you!

I was going through this. I still am, but it's not as progressive as it used to be. I was prescribed once spironolactone and that was incredibly effective. It also helped with acne, but at some point, I got off of it and just started eating well, massaging my scalp, washing my hair less, and supplementing, and it had the same effect without the drastic shedding of stopping medication. I believe my hair loss has to do with hormonal imbalance, but the more I see doctors about it...the more they say my levels are fine. So I am truly at a loss for it lol. My hair is still thick like before, but not as full. I'd like to follow up with another dermatologist for a second opinion, but in the meantime: it really matters that you eat nutrient dense foods and minimize stress as much as possible. Stimulate hair follicles is a must. I do this with massage, brushing gently at night, and simply using shampoo that isn't stripping (at this time, I simply use head and shoulders, but I'll be switching it to something that is more moisturizing, because it's starting to make my hair dull lol). Nothing with biotin in it will help (trust me). Eat your nutrients. Use high end products if you must and supplement if you must, but only take medication if your doctor has gone through the proper assessment. Otherwise: you will SHED. For nothing. :l My next step apart from seeing another doc is to try topical ingredients that have data behind it. C:
My biggest piece of advice: I understand that it's frustrating and that all you want to do is hurry to find a cure. But the more patient you are, the more you give products, treatments, ANYTHING time to work, the happier you will be with the results.

Guuuurl, took it from someone that deals with hair loss for 14 years: if you have oily roots and hair loss, you MUST wash that hair every single day. The oil build-up can clog your folicules and not only weaken it and make the hair fall, but also can make it harder for this hair folicule to continue to live on your head.
Hair loss, especially for women, is extremely difficult emotionally and to diagnose the cause. I never really found out the cause of mine even after multiple doctors and treatments. I don't say that to descourage you but just so you know: you're not alone! I've started a new treatment recently and seems like it's going to help, so do not lose hope. And don't be afraid of minoxidyl as well: it's not a miracle solution as the doctors say it is, but it does help. You'll have to use it for a looong time, if ever comes to it, and you'll have to slowly get off of it so your hair won't fall again. But it really does help, especially with those folicules that are about to die. It can also buy you time in order to other treatments to work. I hope you find what's causing this and continue to share with us

I've been using a blow dryer with a diffuser on low heat for the last 6 months and it's helped tremendously. I think my hair is easily breakable when it's wet. Also, being low on B12 (which was affecting my stress and depression too) contributed to it... and I've been taking probiotics religiously for like a year! My hairline has improved a lot.

I went through two bouts of telogen effluvium in three years; after the second, my hair was so thin you could see my scalp all over. I tried supplements and they did nothing; what has actually worked is daily scalp massage and weekly hot oil treatments of jojoba, amla, and rosemary oil -- I mix that up and then leave it on my head all Sunday. I also use a sandalwood comb rather than a brush, which pulls out far less hair than a brush. You might try a side part meanwhile -- I found that it made the thinning less noticeable while it was growing back in. It looks like your hair loss is mostly concentrated in that one spot, and a side part might help conceal it. The key thing is just to be patient, however hard it is.

Came back as scarring-alopecia. Even the derm was shocked. Was told i was SOL on what was lost, and just try to prevent more. I was almost bald by the time i saw my dermatologist. He started steroid shots, droppers, rogaine, and doxycycline. I added in pumpkin oil, tumeric/curcumin. Also started b12 injections with vit D and ALA. Started all this in 11/21. Went off doxycycline in 3/22. Ive had almost full regrowth, and am just hoping to not have a relapse. Anyone having severe hairloss should go ASAP for a scalp biopsy if labs come back good.

So as someone who has tried literally everything for hair loss including supplements, oils, prp, minoxidil, finasteride, laser caps, spironolactone, etc- the only things that really seemed to make a difference were microneedling and minoxidil. I'm with you on this. I keep getting my hair falling out like crazy. Hairdresser advice me to actually count how many strands are falling out daily. And on average it turned out to be 400-500 strands, which is a lot. But when I wanted to speak to doctor about it, they said that my hair is fine without even looking into that. Even though now I have less than half of hair density I used to have several years ago. What I've tried: taking biotin, taking vitamin d and iron (still deficient in both, so I guess it's not absorbing properly), tried using Banish pen on my hairline, used rosemary oil, hair serums, flaxseed masks, coconut oil masks. I really don't know what else to do. The only thing that saves me that it looks like my hair grows quite fast. So when my eyebrows started growing I was freaking out, I haven't had eyebrows in YEARS!! so I am sticking to my "regimen" lol so what I have been taking is the Target brand UP & UP biotin 5,000 mcg, I take 2 of these at bedtime EVERY NIGHT..and the other is the same brand Targets UP & UP biotin plus keratin tablets 10,000 mcg biotin 100 mg keratin, I take 1 of these EVERY NIGHT! I have curly hair and have been dealing with a combination of hair loss and breakage, which sounds like that's what you're dealing with. On the hair side of things, if you heat style -- especially if you've heat styles for a long time -- you probably have damage. In that case, you want to look for protein treatments and poducts with hydrolyzed proteins. My favorite protein treatment is from Ecoslay, a wonderful smaller vegan brand. Camille Rose Naturals also has some excellent products. I also recommend investing in leave-in conditioners and styling creams or gels that will help your curls look good for longer and help lessen the heat styling. The brand you go with really depends on how curly your hair is naturally, which is actually quite difficult to tell ifyou have damage. Again, Ecoslay is an excellent play to start. If you aren' sleeping on silk or satin, start. It really, really makes a difference. As for scalp care, it looks like you're on the right track. Excess buildup can actually block hair follicles, so incorporating exfoliation is great. you may also want to wash your hair slightly more often. Using a clarifyer once a week paired with a cowash or moisturizing shampoo once or twice a week could help, but you need to be careful you're not stressing out your hair strands. Niacinamide can be applied to the scalp and is excellent for oil control, which would reduce the needto wash. You probably shouldn't apply oil to your scaalp if its already oily, but it may help if you apply it to your ends. Argan and jojoba are generally to go-to lightweight oils. Grapeseed oil is also excellent. On oil, hot oil treatments are heavenly. Lots of brands have oil blends intended to be used as a wash day hot oil treatment. They have a lot of claimed benefits, but you can also think of them as relaxing to helprelieve tension in your scalp and increase circulation. Als, that scalp brush you have? They make ones that vibrate. It's niiiiice. Amla is a great ingredient for hair loss, and doing a scalp mask on wash day may help. It also may be helpful to consult some Black curly hair youtubers. Black hair and mixed hair is different from nonblack cuurly hair, but we've got a loooooooooong cultural history of caring for curls. Starpuppy is a gret youtuber who deal with a lot of thinning and breakage, and Biance Renee is a great resource as wll because she has tried like. Every product (and she's mixed, so have silkier hair that would translate better to to product/technique recommendations). Curlychemistry isa cosmeti chemist I HIGHLY recomend, and GreenBeauty is another great resource for science-based approach. Good luck!

I wasn’t really getting in the fats. I did find that a multi vitamin helped. The second time I had gotten really ill, two weeks after it passed my hair started falling out. I have thick hair, so it was everywhere, like a dog shedding in spring. This continued for two to two 1/2 months before it was deemed a zinc and vit D deficiency. I was thin (see scalp thin) at the crown and thin on the rest of the top of my head.

I feel like everyone’s answers have at least some truth to them bc, for sure, everyone is different and diff things work on diff people.
But from what I gather about hair thinning & loss is that if your body is stressed in any way- whether from a deficiency, disorder, what have you- then the scalp area is just one of those sensitive places that’s hit harder than others.
Unfortunately, “stress” *includes* going in hard with products, devices, vitamins, etc. I know you mentioned that you weren’t going to try several methods at once, so good! Just keep that in the back of your mind- maybe one supplement, a couple/few products, one device at a time then?
Also, idk what your hair routine is like but *how* you use products and devices is important too. The correct way to wash your hair, the correct way to condition, how often you cleanse your brush/comb (if at all, and which one you use), if you only stimulate your hair in the shower or bath or if you also do so before bed, what products/moisturizer you use and where (root, mid-shaft, ends), how filtered is your shower water (hard or soft water), etc. It’s actually a lot more similar to skin care than many people think! I could go on.
And I want to make it clear that I’m not trying to worry you, or anyone that sees this comment- just that there are different factors that affect each one of us, so do your research! 1.) Do you have specific health concerns that affect factors leading to lack of hair growth or fragility? 2.) If so, what would- in theory- help reverse the situation? Then which gadgets, products, etc would help? If no specific health factors, go for more simple/gentler methods. 3.) What tools are you using to support the gadgets, products, etc, and do you take care of them? 4.) Do you let your scalp *rest and breathe* like you would with skincare or post-workout?

I believe Rosemary oil is the most effective essential oil, it’s supposedly comparable to minoxidil, takes 6 months. Smells kinda funky but it might help! It might also be a thyroid issue? Could be too much DHT as well, so you could look into astaxanthin or saw Palmetto. I hear the laser hats are good too so that’s probably worth continuing on with. (I’d just be cautious about not getting too much of the light in your eyes.) If you’re having issues with low Vit D levels, it could be an issue with your gallbladder or low stomach acid. If you don’t produce enough bile, it’s much harder to absorb vitamin D. A vegan collagen precursor might help too. Basically anything I’ve heard of that’s supposed to help takes about 6 months to work, so I guess patience and consistency are key!

Oh castor oil too, I used it on my lashes and it helped. Though it’s really greasy and gunky, but maybe a couple times a week would help!

I hope there will be more research studies on using rosemary oil soon! So far, I think there's only been one done.

Hello Cassandra! I can relate with you, I have struggled with hormonal acne for many many years and now I'm suffering with hair loss too, my doctor which is a gynecologist and endocrinologist, has helped me a lot to the point where I barely have acné now, most of what I have are scars. With my hair loss my doctor gave me hormones, vitamins specifically for hair, skin, and nails, I continue taking spironolactone 50mg, vitamin C 500mg, and I use a shampoo that contains minoxidil at 2% and I'm recovering my hair back with my skin clear. I know every body is different, but I hope my experience can help in anyway and to find the right doctor.

I "derma rolled" my scalp. It helped for my covid hair loss. It sounds terrible. But it made a difference.

You should get a proper diagnosis, before starting any treatment. I got diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia aka female patterned hair loss. I did not get any diagnosis until seeing a top dermatologist, who explained why my hair was looking less dense in certain areas and thinner. Previous dermatologists I saw, dismissed me because I did not experience hair visibly falling out. However, she explained if I don’t start a treatment, hair will eventually become thinner and thinner, until it stops being able to grow through the scalp. That’s why you ***MUST see a good dermatologist, experienced with hair loss and hair loss treatments and request a diagnosis. Don’t loose any more time. Vitamins will not work, if you do have female patterned hair loss.

I started losing my hair like 5 years ago but I thought it was normal, I was not so worried about it, but now I’m, I just turned 36 this April, and I’m about to start taking prenatal pills (it’s great for skin, hair, nails) and I’ll start doing the Ordinary serum for hair density , I love Shea moisture & Cantu. You should try liquid collagen, bone broth. Girl we are in this together! ❤

The ordinary hair serum has been my ride or die for YEARS. I routinely experience medical hair thinning because of multiple chronic illnesses. My hair is also wavy, 2b-ish. I find applying to my scalp after washing when my hair is still wet gives me best results. If you still find it makes your hair greasy maybe try applying the night before a wash. In my experience it’s not going to do miracles, it won’t fix the biological reason your hair is thinning/shedding, but after consistent use over several months I do notice more regrowth, especially around my hair line, compared to if I wasn’t using it. Hair shedded is only half of the issue, it really only becomes noticeable when your body cannot replace what’s been shed. I definitely find this gives my body a little boost when it’s struggling to do that.

I have PCOS and I’ve started to notice hair fall since I hit 30, and now my hair looks very similar to yours. Thank you so much for your suggestions! I’ll be trying the scalp massager, peppermint oil and pumpkin seed oil soft gels. Wish me luck! ✨🙏✨

What she recommends is a total gimmick. Oils are mostly useless for hair loss. The only one with an actual scientific study on is rosemary oil which is somewhat equivalent to Minoxidil.

I've had balding hair/alopecia since age 16. am 58 now. have been using Rogaine before it was even sold OTC. Had to get it formulating at a special pharmacist. at some age, you'd think one would come to terms with their alopecia. i have not. i purchased irestore in 2020. combined with nutrafol supplements (per my doctor's recommendation), these have helped. But I will never have a completely luscious mane. i still use rogaine daily, irestore every other day, and nutrofal 2 tabs daily. if you're on rogaine, you use just 2 tabs daily. i also see a dermatologist annually who specialized in baldness in women. For me it was between irestore or PRP (platelet rich plasma). i'm sure you've heard about that. Its also been proven to be very helpful but I did not want the maintenance of injections to my scalp 2-3 times/year. We are beautiful no matter how hair but are just using the tools available to us to look good for us!

I think you should let your hair go 100% curly. It looks so good on you and I think you will find that it will reduce the hair loss. Also do a big chop, use rosemary oil instead of peppermint and try Olaplex!!!!

Also are those Vitamin D pills D2 or D3? You need to take D3 5-10,000 IU's per day for deficiency and it's not going to work if you don't take it with K2 and Magnesium AND a fatty food. I eat mine with an avocado or Chia Seed pudding. Try Sports Research Plant-Based K2+D3. Also Pure Encapsulations Magnesium Glycinate. Seriously though: go curly, let go of your long hair with a nice cut, stop blow-drying and get on the Olaplex (especially 0 and three: it is an amazing bond building for your hair!!!) STAT!!!

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I had sudden hair loss and thinning after having surgery. The things that worked the best for me where Vitamin D & K and I bought the LED Hair Wand for hair regrowth which helped. I tried many serums that didn't work and mostly dried out my scalp. The major turning point was when I stumbled across information about PRP injections that were given directly into the effected areas of my scalp. This jump started regrowth and within 6 months my hair was back on track. I had 6 sessions 5 weeks apart. What was interesting is that the regrowth hair has a wave to it and the rest of my hair is straight. I would strongly recommend PRP injections.

Oh My God Girl I’m With You! My mom‘s hair got really really thin about my age and she cut it all off until like a pixie cut so the weight of the hair wasn’t affecting her hair loss. Now that was in the 80s and we have way more things available to us. But when when is the time to go see that professional? When is your hair not quite thin enough that you can save it before you can no longer do anything. Where is that sweet spot? Is my hair really unusually thin? My hair is Covid long, and I lose a lot of it. Is that unusual? Thank you for starting to address some of these things.oh my god what a rabbit hole

If it's bothering you then it's def time to see a Derm if you can. I've had hair loss for a while, it's still able to grow very long but there's just not as many hairs as their used to be.

I tried supplementing magnesium because I read it's supposed to help with blood pressure and got galloping runs🤐 We're too fast supplementing stuff we don't need but it's near impossible to get full bloodwork for all vitamins and minerals
