Excellent! Very ingenious. I appreciate that approach, since bikepacking gear is not usually very cheap and hard to justify the investment if you are just starting out

Hey cheers mate. I can't claim to have come up with the idea originally, but I reckon it does the job in a pinch. I hope to put out more videos along these lines soon!

Nice video, this is only the second hack I have seen for bike luggage. The other one was for a DIY handlebar cradle.
The use of top quality duck tape is very important. The cheaper stuff I have bought has had problems, including the glue melting in the heat, and the tape degrading over time (the non sticky surface stated break down and peel).

Hi Mark that sounds interesting. Are you able to share the guide that you followed? I was looking to make a series of videos along these lines, so any collective experiences and ideas would be great. I haven't had much luck messing around with DIY front rolls, but I wonder if a semi stiff front harness from e.g. Gorilla tape and a flexible plastic could be achieved. Cheers!

@@chris_onabike There are several YT vids on making a handlebar harness/cradle. I used the handlebar riser hack in this first video ua-cam.com/video/5lwTI1ScQnY/v-deo.html
and then modified the design in this second video ua-cam.com/video/ZTfZghK5olE/v-deo.html I did not like the way he set up his straps and simplified it.

@@markperry222 Nice! I like the idea of using a handlebar extender to clear it from all the cables at the front. They appear to be only around 11 - 14 dollars on Amazon. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll have a play around with it and see what happens.
