    I love getting you’re opinions on religious issues. I grew up very much away from the church, my parents weren’t church goers and I never really knew anyone who was religious. You really help me to understand this mind set that is so foreign to me, you lay it out in such a clear and unbiased way. I really appreciate getting your views on these issues ☺️

    Caitlyn Jenner was made in G-d's image, trans and all. She's exactly as she's supposed to be in that regard. She's still a right-wing maniac whose side I'll never be on, but I'll never misgender her because I disagree with her. It's not acceptable to deny someone's identity and personhood because you disagree.

      So getting surgery and taking man designed drugs trying to make yourself appear as the opposite sex is being yourself? If gender is a social construct why do People “need” genital surgery and drugs to be comfortable in their own skin? You never see this in poor countries. I think Western Freedom just makes you a Slave to your own subjective desires

    i found it ironic that despite morgan making a big deal of they/them pronouns other times, she kept using them to talk about trans people. it’s almost like it’s easy and she’s trying on purpose to not respect people…also using the correct pronouns is good of her, but then making a video that says she doesn’t really believe them and just uses their pronouns to be polite sort of feels like it makes her using the correct pronouns way less meaningful. like she has a big audience on instagram too so she’s spreading a bad message to those people

    • @veganbatman
      @veganbatman 2 роки тому +5

      the kicker was that Morgan didn't even use the correct pronouns! Caitlin's are she, her friend's are he but Morgan used they for both of those people individually which is also misgendering.

      Because, even as they come from her mouth, she unconsciously recognises "they" is a common English way to refer to someone whose identity you're uncertain of or whose gender you don't know. It's absurd. She can refer to a binary trans person as they/them but not a non binary person who it makes sense to use those pronouns for?!

    Before I was out as bisexual and had stepped away from the Church as an organization, I went to a Christian conference with a friend who invited me. Once we were there we found out that one of the speakers was “a former lesbian”. When she was asked about respecting pronouns in a room full of young people (15-21) she said “well we don’t want to feed into their delusion”.
    I was furious, shaking. Morgan talking about how she had to go to God about it, “No I didn’t see them as male”, etc makes me feel the same the way. It’s this fake concern for people that actually stems from her wanting to be right no matter what, but she’s making herself feel better by saying “well i called them by their pronouns!”

    Thank you so much for making videos like these and for really deeply explaining to people what progressive Christianity really is. I'm a progressive Christian myself, and I regularly deal with a lot of other Christians trying to condemn me and always putting me down, telling me that I'm not a real Christian, that I'm actually following Satan, that I'm a cherry picker, a little lost sheep, etc. And sometimes it really gets to me, but I know I'm trying to do the right and follow God. So I just need stop allowing others' to get in the way of my relationship with God. But feeling support from fellow Christians and friends and to hear people talk about what progressive Christianity really means on a public platform like yours really does mean a lot. So thank you so much. And I'm looking forward to seeing more videos about Christianity from you in the future. 🙂

    As a former Progressive Christian to Evangelical Christian, I am very passionate about Biblical truth and proving it to others. I have never seen any of your other videos and came across this one with my guard up and blood boiled before you even began speaking. Although we disagree on many things, I really appreciate you sharing your perspective. Sometimes we do forget that you all have feelings and are trying your best, just as we are. It is extremely healthy and necessary to fellowship with diverse people; by spending so much time outwardly criticizing those who differ from us in our beliefs, we’re creating hurt and division. We need to come together as a community, with love and respect, hear each other out, and only then can we have a healthy discussion/argument. As taught in Mathew 5:7, we need to recognize our own sin, before we judge or criticize others.

    Hey disabled trans person here! Im not a mistake. My existence both in being trans and being disanlwd were not come cosmic mistake for cis and abled religious people to use to make themselves feel better and to learn about themselves. I appreciate you trying to explain that trans people arent mistakes but dont use disability for that. Becuase disabilities arent inherently a mistake either. Im both mentally and physically disabled and i am not a mistake.

      And I don't want a cure for a lot of my disabilities either. I don't want to cure my autism or my hypermobility and even the disabilities i have that I would want cured (like my asthma) that still doesn't make me a mistake.
      I recognize my comment comes across as a little angry and agitated but I'm sure you can see why the idea that disabilities are mistakes would be a bit frustrating to someone like me who has multiple disabilities that affect everything in life down to the way that I breathe or take a shit. My existence isn't a mistake. And that includes my disabilities.

    I think this should open up a conversation about social media and ministry. Are personal social medas only for fun or are they avenues for messages and character attacks that followers will believe are unbiased. Personal social medias that double as ministry outreach often fly under the radar of church supervision and people tend to day things about others that they wouldn't say on pulpit.

    • @BHaney

    I am struggling with the pronouns, not for myself but I’m TRYING to get a friend to see transgender people as who they are & not the sex they were assigned at birth. Idk how to explain it but I can understand having your faith challenged by transgender & Gender non binary prefixes. I’m old & as a teen in the 90’s, I thought trans people were saying that god made a mistake & that’s not possible. I came around to the viewpoint that for reasons we don’t understand, sometimes god puts the soul of a woman in the body of a man & vice versa or he makes some special souls that exist outside the sex of their body. I also think that god made intersex people as a physical sign that he created all of us as more than simply “male” & female”

    • @shemweisberger9878
      @shemweisberger9878 2 роки тому +2

      it might be easier for you and this other person if you reframe transness and gender in your head from being related so heavily to god and faith… gender is a social condition that we all have put on eachother and that is used to identity how to treat eachother, the same as class, nationality, etc. gender and sex are not sovereign or unchangeable, and they never have been. people throughout history have always changed their gender presentation and the gender roles they fulfill, with or without a label or ‘identity’… it’s not about souls, its not about how g-d made you, it’s about how you want to be seen and treated. trans people want to be seen as and treated as a gender other than the one they were assigned at birth, because they desire the treatment and feelings that come with living as that gender. i am a transgender male; ive never felt as if my “soul was trapped in a womans body”. ive felt that, hey, looking and acting and living as a woman isnt for me, and i think i would fare much better living in this world as a man, both for my internal life and in my community.
      gender is not a sacred, intense thing that g-d picks and chooses for each of us. gender is a social role, it’s something humans organized ourselves based off of very undeveloped ideas of the differences between sex.
      as a religious trans person, that is my view. in order to make it easier for your friend to respect trans people, remove their faith from the equation; explain that transgender people are not some affront to the lord, or saying he made a mistake, but that theyre just humans who want to live the life that is most comfortable for them, and fulfill a role in their society that they would be the most fulfilled by. trans people are just people who want to be themselves. no spirituality about it.
