Hello lovely people, I have done the thing!
I have a Patreon live now at www.patreon.com/EmmaThorneVideos

There are things I’m interested in adding in the future, but I want to make sure I’m not overpromising and under-delivering by getting ahead of myself too early!

Their proper explanation: "The foundations of my faith are SO weak I can not risk testing it against the trivial content found within popular culture!"
From a Christian: I personally LOVE WandaVision. I enjoy being a Game Master in Dungeons&Dragons. I adore the study of theology and differing spiritualities. I study demonology, the occult and esoteric materials of mysticism. I am a Mythic ranked Player of Magic the Gathering. (MtG Arena)
I could rant about this all day...I suppose I shall leave it be. O.o

Yes, Thor was a storm god in Norse. Jupiter was a weather god in Rome. Mariamman was the Hindu goddess of rain. Egypt had Baal he was another storm god. These Gods can go back to the beginning of time. There is a ton of different interpretations of this storm god. In the bible he is Lucifer. The lightbringer is what lucifer means, another storm god. The superheroes are all connected to these old gods in history. The witches are related to something else entirely in history. I would say neither good. Even though movies or shows might portray them as good. Even though some people think they're witches and don't hurt people. It wouldn't matter even if you don't hurt anyone. What they believe comes from dark history. Witches and these superheroes aren't myth. Every civilization in history believed in both. They had different names for them but they were the same. We didn't have the internet or cell phones then. So it makes one wonder how they all described the same things across the planet during the same time in history. If someone has a answer I would like to hear what they think. I assume it is because they all dealt with the same things. The native Americans had storm gods. They have stories about rituals being done to bring some beings over here, across dimensions. It was described as a small group within this town. The town ended in disaster. With some serpent being that took control of the minds of the people. They called him carnivorous. They never seen those people again. I can't remember how it was told exactly. I think they even said this serpent being had a halo above his head. I'm not sure what they called it then. I would like to hear this story from someone. I have native american family. I never heard this from any of them. It must be that certain tribes knew and passed it down. That is terrifying to me. I bring the serpent up because there is a connection to these storm gods, baal and the bible's serpent.

    • @ReneVoell
      @ReneVoell 2 роки тому +7

It seems like weird logic, yes... but there is a really problematic reasoning behind it - they at first said "we don't let this into our home" but then pretty quickly changed their argument to "it's just common sense" and "nobody should do this!"
It's a simple way of arguing people into self-censorship. It's not just that they don't want to get in contact with anything "evil", it's that they want to convince other people of doing the same so these people also don't get in contact with anything challenging the "right" believes
Because those that are drawn away from "ungodly" media are so much more easily pursuaded to just consume christian approved media and then slowly you push them towards your own propaganda material. And then they start to drift into the christian approved way of thinking
that's why they say that the magic in cinderella is okay for them: It's the story of a helpless girl getting help from a friendly supernatural being that makes everything okay - like god!
It's a short step from this story to the bible
But WandaVision? How can that evil witch dare to do magic on her own! She is helping herself and doesn't need god and therefore this story is evil! Get away from it and watch something friendly and happy and stop challenging the idea of god and accept that god is good and christianity is perfection and we all need to praise jesus and we all need to praise the leaders of our church...
So "don't let evil into your tv" is really not that weird - it's just the first step in brainwashing people into their believes

Another good part is when a woman eats an apple ( terrible! ) and somehow everybody else is guilty of that crime too, including those who weren't even born at the time. Luckily the person who got so offended decided to forgive everybody, and realised that the best way to really forgive was by nailing his son to two planks. Nobody ever managed to forgive others without sacrifices - the closely blood related the innocent victim, the better :-)
Also, let's not forget the story in which men are consensually bumming each other, a man thinks it's wrong so he suggests they all rape his super young daughters, the men refuse for at least three obvious reasons, and everybody apart from that man and his daughters are killed. So that he can then rape his own daughters and get them pregnant.

Some of Paul's body language and expressions made me extremely uncomfortable, especially seeing how Morgan's personality is more innocent and happy go lucky enough to simply restrain herself to be a follower and suppress her own desires and opinions.
It would not surprise me in the least to learn within the next five years that Paul has had an affair (or multiple). It's a sad reality of the repressed territory they are both living in and usually ends up with a ministerial redemption arc for the man and the woman fading into obscurity.

she says her mom says that if she reads it, she’ll start to think SHE’S a witch, and jump off a cliff because she thinks she can fly.
i say “have i jumped off a cliff? i definitely don’t think witches are real, that’s stupid.”
it was funny to me because she was older and “cooler” in every other sense (for a middle schooler), she’d had boyfriends and she would take me with her to hang out with boys, she was allowed to listen to whatever music she wanted, and had dyed hair and a cell phone with which she texted boys. but she was afraid to watch a movie with witches because her mom said it was bad.

But then, after we broke up, and she started seeing a guy who is Christian, she completely changed. One of the few times she contacted me at the beginning of their relationship what's to see if I wanted some stuff she was getting rid of.
She was getting rid of the Sword of Fire and Ice, Maze Runner and some other fantasy and / or sci-fi books, some r-rated movies like Deadpool, and Cards Against Humanity because her husband wouldn't approve.

Back when I was still Christian, my biggest pillar of my personal faith was that I *should* learn about other religions, other beliefs, and invite them into my home as a way to reinforce my own beliefs. My biggest question was always "Am I Christian because of the way I was raised into it, or am I a Christian through my own faith." Talking about philosophy and other religions and the merits of different ways of thinking about God and god and gods was my favorite thing to do. And it all connected back to the parable of one lost sheep coming back to the flock being more important to the shepherd than the ones who stayed without ever trying to wander about. I took that to heart and constantly challenged myself and my beliefs.
Now, spoiler alert, there's a reason I said "when I was still christian" because ultimately, it did cause me to leave christianity, but, I feel like the entire religion of christianity would be healthier with this type of mindset instead of shunning anything different for fear of it changing them.

In a lot of places, the most medically competent people were midwives and, since midwifing was traditionally a women-only profession, the monks who were talking about medicine and writing medical manuals had to get their knowledge from them, which was difficult when your local bishop is threatening people for tolerating pagans. It was also difficult to do medicine in general when the recipes used in your medical manuals list herbs are rare where you're at or, worse, they don't grow at all where you're at. Are you going to swallow your pride and ask the pagan locals what they use here for stuff (and risk the ire of Church authorities because you're making them look weak/incompetent), or do you pretend that there's only one way to do medicine, namely the way the Church promotes? The history of medicine is just as political as anything else.

The way you say "Christian" is so pretty! I'm a witch that grew up fundamentalist Christian in the midwest US so I can shed some light on this subject.
The reasoning that they are following is exclusionary because their faith does not encourage individual discernment. If you have members of the church thinking critically about belief systems they will start to notice the holes in their own beliefs. The result is a echo chamber that worships "purity" and demonizes everything else.
I attended many churches in varying levels of extremes and sects (Catholic, Baptist, Non-Denominational ect.) and the consistent thing that I saw was a culture of shaming to conform to a singular ideal. That shame turns to fear in every day life including participating in consuming pop culture. They think that if they perceive something outside that ideal and they are personally okay with it, they are on the path to hell.
I remember being terrified of watching horror movies because I believed that demons could come through the media and torment me. So it makes sense they are afraid of stuff they are not allowed to understand. I feel sorry for them :(

My one encounter with hyper-Christians was in college.
I was invited to a party by a classmate, and she said it was a 'dry' party, which was fine with me.
I only realized how hyper-Christian they were when we watched a movie and they all looked away from the screen and hit fast-forward to avoid a scene where a man and a woman kissed.
And I'm not talking writhing and tongue action. I'm talking a closed-mouth kiss without even a close hug.
