- Got sick of lugging my SSL2 audio interface around after my other mobile mixer died (Drembo m4), so I picked up another cheap usb mixer (MouKey MAMX1) to see if it will work with my briefcase setup.
Just what I was looking for, thanks for posting.
Cheers, thank you!
I keep almost buying one of these. But then I realize that everything I'm plugging into it has its own volume control, so I should just make an Altoids tin passive summing mixer. I made one in a stomp box case with 1/4" jacks and it was super easy, but the 3.5mm jacks are a little intimidating since I'm not great at soldering. Right now I'm just plugging everything into its own BT speaker. It's kinda charming doing it that way.
I really like those Ripcord-like cables for Volcas and the ones for guitar pedals just because I can plug Volcas and guitar pedals and bus-powered things like the TR-6S and Circuit Tracks into a couple 4-port USB chargers. Then I don't need as many outlets and don't have as many power bricks & power strips under the table. But for throwing things in a bag, sticking Eneloops in everything is a lot less hassle.
Nick, dude, NEVER film with a bright window/light behind you ! lol
So glad you changed the view !
Ummm you can't blow up anything by plugging it into the "wrong" USB power output.
2A just means it can provide more current to charge faster.
Analogy : You have a small 6" X 4" trailer with a couch in it.
You have a choice of using a Subaru or a Ford F-650 Super Duty to tow it with. Both vehicles have excess capacity to do the job. That's how current works.
However if you plug 12V power into your 9V Volca the magic smoke will come out and people on UA-cam will be very sad.
Yeah it was near dusk outside so I thought I might get away with it but yeah =) another lesson learned with my phone camera!
Thanks for the clarification on the USB, I'm hoping to start playing around with a raspberry pi and some electrical components to up my electrical/circuity knowledge.
I figure with my SWE background, if I can get the basics of electrical engineering I will be able to craft up some fun custom gear.
Voltage is specific ..
easy What to watch for is Amp rating going above is fine going below will overheat and burnout the power / charging adapter you’ve connected . If it needs 500 mA then 800 or 1 amp etc .is fine , but 300 mA is too low .
Hi, thanks for the video, it was very helpful. I have a question about the power consumption. I saw that the adapter sold with the mixer gives 5V and 1A. The 1A is probably more than the mixer needs, so I am wondering: how many mA does the mixer actually requires? I am planning to use it with a portable speaker that has a built in usb port that produces 500mA, so that I don't have to use a powerbank. I am hoping it wouldn't exceed the 300mA, otherwise it'd be to tight and damage the speaker power source. Ah, Just one thing, while plugging the mixer to the power bank you plugged it to the 1A output source (which is absolutely fine, since it's the same output of the given adapteur) and you didn't plug it to the 2A output, cause concerned that it might cause damage. When it comes to Ampere, more output is good, less is bad (the other way around than volts. A higher voltage can fry the device you want to power). While for the ampere, if you send less ampere than required, you might put stress on the battery, cause the device is trying to draw more than the battery can give (I am not an expert, but so I understood). To make it simple, if you the mixer requires 600mA and the powerbank give 1000mA (1A), it's no problem. If the mixer requires 1000mA and the powerbank gives only 600mA, it can be a problem (normally for the powerbank). Does the manual says what the actual power consumption is?
Thank you
P.S. I saw that somebody already mentioned the Amperage thing, sorry I could have spared a few words :)
Does it have echo option with it ? Thanks
Hey Kim, I don't believe it does unfortunately
Hello! How is this mixer working after 6 months? I want to buy one but saw reviews of people complaining about the USB connector breaking and that the mixer is noisy. Did you have problems with it?
Still working as of right now, haven't used it too much since giving up on my mobile setup.
But when I do infrequently use it, it still works!
So are you using your smartphone to record the jam ? That's what I'd like to do with the MAMX1 but I'm not sure how to do that yet.
Yeah, when I'm not recording to my PC with an audio interface, I use a "Movo MC3 3.5mm TRS (Female) Microphone Adapter Cable to TRRS (Male) for iPhone & Android Smartphones" to record sound to my phone. So with the mini mixer here, I have a 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adapter on the out, and then wire that into the movo cable, into the phone.
I'm having trouble telling. Is the output on the mixer stereo or is it just stereo input with mono output? Sound quality is pretty good, considering.
So it supports stereo/mono input for each line.
It appears to have stereo output too as I just tested l/r output on the Circuit via 2 lines in and could somewhat pan the sound(didn't work perfectly, might be due to the quick setup) I could only get it to pan to my left ear in my phones, right pan wasn't working for some reason
CAN I PUT 4 MICROPHONES AT THE SAME TIME?
Totally, just be aware, this mixer doesn't provide phantom power, so condenser mics will need to be powered by something else.
Also no XLR inputs.
There are better choices for mixers if you have condenser mics, requiring phantom power, using XLR cables. (Not sure what mics you have and want to wire up)
Thanks for the tutorial I have a cuestion is possible conect the interface for usb to the iPad I'm using Aum if the program recognize this interface that will be amazing
