You know how you can lock your eyes on a bit of water just coming down the waterfall and follow it down as it turns into mist, so beautiful, calming, and relaxing to the eye. Thanks guys
What a wonderful corner,😊the temples in the forest seem dignified and the gardens - harmonious. The view of the snow -crusted waterfall was amazing. You enjoyed the holiest city in Japan, including me,for which I thank you!👍
Wow those temples were stunning⛩️ I’ve never seen anyone else travel to Nikko in other Japan videos I’ve watched, so refreshing to see something different.
The buildings there really make people feel like traveling through time and space! His son died in episode 6, thank you for letting us know that the TV series is different from the real history! This is another episode full of spirituality and Zen. Thank you very much for sharing! 👍🥰🙏
Yes he had many children. maybe that one actually did die in real life, i'm not sure. I wonder why none of his other family is really shown in the series
i just checked online and the son in the film is his 4th son called "Matsudaira Tadayoshi" in real life. Although he was also never killed that way like in the series so it is indeed fiction anyway
Hi Chris and Carol! Your trip to Japan is really nice to watch, and I'm glad to see that you guys made it there this time around! I particularly love this video because I'm in the middle of watching Shōgun and it was nice to see the real shrine of Tokugawa Ieyasu! The Shōgun series is almost done, and is now on it's last episode this coming Monday; I suggest you watch it when you have some time. I also want to recommend watching Tokyo Vice. Cheers and enjoy your stay in Japan!
Been following jumping places since 2019 and always loved the content! I have traveled to many places also because of these videos. I really like how you two can now travel as your job and I can definitely see the passion in you two! You deserve it!!
Nice Video. Nikko is popular during the Autumn Fall season when the colored leaves (Momiji) form and yes it gets a bit pricy during that time. If you take the bus ride up the mountain there is a lake and waterfall. Also you can find ryokans (traditional Japanese inn) along the lake. The experience is great because you can wake up to beautiful views esp during winter. Tokugawa was also known for developing Tokyo. I believe he wanted to be buried in Nikko as he could keep a watchful eye on Tokyo from the North even after his death.
Guys make sure you go to Kamakura and check out the big buddha and a some of the shrines and temples there. It's only an hour from Tokyo and also has the beach. It's good for 1 or 2 nights there. Highly recommend Kamakura.
I’ve been following you now for a long time ever since first time your lady went to visit your parents in Portugal. My husband and I love traveling. We are your parents age range. Love your site Jumping Places.
Best video of Nikko ive ever seen! I went in November and it’s really gorgeous with the fall colors. Btw Asakusa is pronounced a-sak-sa, the ‘u’ is silent. I said it wrong for my first few visits
Beautiful vlog!! If this kind of place is your vibe, I highly recommend visiting Koyasan in Wakayama prefecture. The scenery there especially during winter when it’s snowing is truly magical and otherworldly. (Still beautiful during any season though) Also very rich in history.
Nikko is a popular place in the autumn. The zig-zag road up to Lake Chuzenji is beautiful in the fall with all of the changing leaves. There are lots of small inns surrounding the lake and Kegon Waterfall is always good to see. Edit: Ah! Never mind. I see you made it up there later in the video.
Tokugawa Ieyasu is one of greatest man at all Japanese history. This shrine was repaired many times by Japanese. It is very important asset for Japanese. Thank you for introducing it to the world.
So beautiful my son and his friends go to Japan on May 29 2024 from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 thanks for sharing your video take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Hello. I created this comment using a translation app. Sorry if the text is weird. In Japan, festivals are held all over the country from around June. There are many more, but I have listed the major festivals. Please take a look if it's convenient. I hope your sons' trip to Japan will be wonderful. Oh this is right at the top of my list! Funny I was watching Nikko stuffs yesterday ( abroad in Japan / Sam and Audrey/ Paolo from Tokyo/ travel Japan/ Tokyo creative etc) oh I’m so chuffed to see you visiting Nikko let’s watch! I’m home now back to hospital tomorrow you really cheer me up ❤ Thank you Sabrina 🇫🇷🇬🇧
@@JumpingPlaces Thank you 🙏🏼 you weren’t too lucky unfortunately this things happen with the weather just right at the end of winter when things are drained of energy. I don’t know if you saw but there’s Edo period park! Paolo went there and you can dress up with traditional clothes it looks so cool and they went kayaking and more … watch it for your next Nikko visit it really is pretty cool and Sam and Audrey done some nice trekking in summer (July) the waterfalls were a lot bigger then Thank you for your kind wishes I’m getting frustrated ☹️its much appreciated 😘
@1:55 We call those "unit baths" (ユニットバス) in Japanese, probably because basically they are just all one plastic unit. You can get water pretty much anywhere and it doesn't really matter in one of those.
@8:52 In Kyoto at Nijo-jo (二条城), the castle, you can see paintings of tigers on the walls, except the faces are all messed up. Apparently, the reason was similar. The artists had likely never seen a tiger in real life, but likely had see preserved pelts (the animal's skin a fur) but just had to guess at the faces, or at least that is what I was taught in a Japanese art history class.
Hi Chris / Carol ... Your video about Nikko is great. My wife and I are planning a 4 days Nikko trip this year from last week of Oct to early Nov, we are so looking forward to this trip after watching your video. We intended to get the 4 days Nikko Pass like you did, we noticed your 4 days pass is in a form of an e-Ticket on your mobile. (1) Which apps /where did your bought the 4 days pass? (2) Do you need to exchange for the physical Nikko Pass from the Toby Information Center? (3) If no physical pass is needed, am I right that you just show your e-Ticket on you mobile to board the Tubo Limited Express train (Asakusa) to Nikko and also uses the e-Ticket for the local Tobu Nikko buses there? Thanks in advance! Thomas
I am a little bit lost with what kind of transport is included in the all pass, because klook states an express ticket will be required and not included.

The ancient buildings in Japan all look like they are newly built, which may be due to the fact that wooden structures cannot be preserved for a long time.
I really enjoy all of your videos, but for me, you guys do NOT belong in a big city like Tokio, too much people, too much stress. This episode is much better and relaxing! Cheers

What a blessing to travel with a loving partner and parents.

今年は雨が少なく、中禅寺湖の水が少ないみたいです。去年戦場ヶ原の西ノ湖行きましたが、かなり水が少なく干上がっていました。異常気象なんですかねー😅
Always amazed by the many little pieces of food making all together a tray for one meal...so much choices..Enjoy ! And thank you for sharing.

We visited there last June. I remember that the waterfall was very splashy and cold. The lake and scenery were wonderful.

Hello there!
I am a little bit lost with what kind of transport is included in the all pass, because klook states an express ticket will be required and not included.
if i remember correctly i think a normal slower train is included, but you can pay a bit extra to upgrade to express for the quick direct train
Sorry it is raining. When I visited it in March about ten years ago it was snowing.
Magical shrines and breathtaking waterfalls it does look pretty chilly lol

Most people visiting are doing day trips and they are no longer around at this time i don't think
The ancient buildings in Japan all look like they are newly built, which may be due to the fact that wooden structures cannot be preserved for a long time.
welcome welcome.
Japan is very cold in march ... 😀😉😇
Yes, colder than normal this year though apparently. That is why the cherry blossom season came 2 weeks later than expected this year

Like número 742.
It's a religious facility, but now Japanese people can no longer visit the shrine quietly.
music is typical chinese
そうでもないと思います。ひょっとしたら日本人のCDからかもしれない。今の編曲者は古き良き時代の日本の先輩の邦楽作品を無視して欧米風のアレンジや電子楽器を使うことを平気でやっちゃいますから。😅😙
NICO is not the real name of NIKKO. You coined that name for English speaking people to pronounce the NIKKO easily.
Is that right?
この動画の日本語訳は自動翻訳をを使ってるんじゃないかと思うんだけど、細かIい手直しなどはしないんですかね? 訳し方が結構めちゃくちゃで見る気が失せてしまうんですが、、、
