  • Explore the remarkable fuel efficiency of this hybrid twin-turbo V6 on a 6-inch lifted Ford F-150! I have modified the Superlift kit from RealTruck and paired it with the latest Fox 2.5 Performance Elite shocks to make it fit the PowerBoost (The King shocks wouldn't fit due to the reservoir design conflicting with the high voltage wiring of the hybrid powertrain). The results are genuinely astounding to me, as I unveil the jaw-dropping MPG figures this beast is delivering! Get ready to be amazed!

    As well as calibrating the tires you can adjust the mpg readout by adjusting the fuel bias in the dash settings diag mode. I finally have mine reading within .3 mpg vs hand calculated.

    I might have missed you mentioning it in the video, but what grade gas do you like to run? The owners manual says its fine to run 87 but reccomends 91 or 93 for towing, and I've found with my '21 PB lariat specced very similar to yours 93 gives much better power response from a stop and a few MPGs better even on the highway in 40⁰ temps (~27mpg vs 22mpg)

    The PB platform shines the most in the 35-55mph zone. I bet if you found a loop that kept the speeds there you would be surprised at its efficiency still. I'm running a level with 34's and even with winter fuel I can still hit around 25-26 mpg taking back roads and city streets vs highway at 65-70.

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  7 місяців тому +1

      I agree it absolutely is better in city driving. Unfortunately finding a “loop” of 35-55 wouldn’t really be replicable due to it having to be all city streets and stop and go would be too unpredictable to repeat similar enough results.

    • @MaxWerk1
      @MaxWerk1 6 місяців тому

      I've heard these figures from other PB owners, but for the life of me I can't get those figures anymore after a level and 33's. Highway cruising at 70mph I get 19-20mpg....if I absolutely baby it around town in that sweet spot speed range, the best I see is 22ish. Constantly researching lighter wheels and tires that will still serve my purpose off-road. I've even thought about a "street set" of wheels and tires and an off road set...but would take like 50K miles to cover the cost difference in 5mpg

    Does the lift actually add travel or does the larger shocks just "bridge the gap" so to speak created by the lift?
    Also, with reservoir shocks, you definitely went very high end with the lift kit.
    This will not be most peoples experience as most will opt for cheaper options.
    What I would really be interested to see is if you are better off going reservoir shocks on leveled vs reservoir shocks on lifted.
    One thing that makes me worry about lifted ride quality is the increase level on the rear springs added by the lifting block.
    Seems that would REALLY increase rotational torque on the springs leading to lots of rear differential rotation.
    Also obviously with longer levers in the front, you are amplifying all pressures seen by the suspension.
    Again necessitating the higher end shocks.

    15.5 for a six inch isn’t bad, never had a lifted truck but my first gen eco boost with 3.73 stock would average 19mpg. I did a level and 33inch KO2s at 60k miles and the best I could average after was 15.5mpg

    • @GearsGadgets

    I’d love to put a 6” lift and 35’s on my 22 F150 Platinum Powerboost.
    How has this effected your Bluecruise, Lane Keeping, BSM, Auto Headlights Leveling, etc? Basically all the fancy and safety features built in these trucks.

      First, thank you! Second, everything from lane keeping to blue cruise, headlights, BSM, Leveling, it all works on my truck with zero issues. I did have to recalibrate the 360 cameras because the added height made the cameras not line up anymore but that was the only technology functionality I noticed any differences with.

      @@EagleRockSolo I haven't done it, but most people use Forscan software. The dealer can do it as well, but may choose not too after it is modified. From what I have read, you start the process in forscan and then just drive the vehicle in a parking lot with good contrast, and on a street with good lane markings. The computer does the rest on 2021+ ..you don't need any mats on the ground or other stuff that older cars required.

    You never said what engine you had. The 5.0 gets 21mpg in in a car its about the most fuel efficient engine on the market.
    Battery powered pick-up trucks should be able to do some trucking I'm 100% sure none of them could compete (Drag Week) without being a laughing stock. A Australian Ute or a Rancharo is not a Pick-Up truck because you can modifie a Pick-up to have a dump-bed or custom tool box sides and those countries don't really alow you to modify your vehicles. A Pick-up is ment to be modified or throw away the old bed and put a new one on when needed. The battery powered Ford Pick-up sold like 500 in 365 days, its a flop no one wants that junk unless its some tax right off they are looking for.

      OK nice, I still don't think any farmers going to want to risk owning a truck with a control module and wiring harness worth more than the entire truck. And not enough of people's (Right to repair) has been resolved making tractors and trucks a 100% loss in equipment. The EPA needs to be abolished and restructured.

    I have a 22 lariat power boost, now you’re that guy kicking up rocks and breaking windshields. and I like your channel but I think the truck looks ugly and definitely not worth it lifting it so high. The whole point of a power boost is to save on MPG‘s. You’re almost at the point where you keep cutting your hair until you have a wiffle.

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  7 місяців тому +4

      My point of buying a PowerBoost wasn’t for MPG. Return on investment MPG-wise isn’t there compared to a regular 3.5 which gets nearly identical MPG HWY. I never got anywhere near advertised 24 mpg even with a light foot on the highway to begin with. Best I ever saw was just about 20. Rocks… it’s no different than any other truck on the road with AT tires which I would have run anyway since I found myself off road on job sites on a daily basis, the lift has nothing to do with more or less rocks. Anyhow, the reason I bought my PowerBoost was for comfort sitting on job sites in Phoenix being able to run AC for long durations without having to burn gas, same for long road trips being able to nap in the truck without the engine running but heat or ac keeping the cabin comfortable. The other reason was a backup generator for home power incase of emergency. It serves WAY more practical purpose than it does MPG purpose. In terms of looks, that’s obviously subjective as I wouldn’t modify my truck to make it look ugly to me.
