- We have a special guest joining Matthew for this Super Cool Radio interview. In July, Matthew had the opportunity to interview Kofi Baker. Kofi is the son of Cream and Blind Faith drummer, Ginger Baker. Kofi has been drumming for almost his entire life. His first live performance was when he was six on the UK TV music show The Old Grey Whistle Test. In the 80's, Kofi and his father performed drum duets in Europe. Kofi has toured with John Ethridge, Steve Marriot's Humble Pie, Jack Bruce, and Jonas Hellborg and Shawn Lane, to name a few. Kofi's current focus is his project, Cream Faith, which celebrates classic cuts from Cream and Blind Faith, with other top session musicians. In this interview, hear Kofi discuss his time in The Music of Cream, his favorite Cream and Blind Faith song to perform live, some stories from his childhood including his dad pouring gasoline while smoking a cigarette, new music with Rob Johnson, and so much more! SCR and Matthew Thomas would like to thank Kofi for the great interview.

What a nice, down to earth intelligent guy! Aside from spectacular drumming, he's smart enough to have learned from his father what not to do!
I want to jam with this guy!
So true what he says about the backing tracks and dancing around .
Great interview!
Thank you for watching!
Kofi's actually showing his "young" age here... just to be sure..... Rod Stewart was never a member of Humble Pie. Stewart was the singer of "The Faces"... a band which came about as a result of the breaking up of "The Small Faces"... Steve Marriott was the singer and guitar player of the "Small Faces," and then (after the break up of Small Faces) "Humble Pie"... which Peter Frampton was also a member.
I have seen Kofi play several times. My favorite was most recently this past April…”Cream Faith”. Kofi did quite a bit of improvising and he had a killer band.
I met him at Sam Ash in Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia maybe 7 or 8 years ago and he was an absolutely phenomenal player and was just so down to earth and nice. I was just there picking up sticks or doing something and had no idea he was there.
Thank you so much for sharing! I completely agree. Kofi is very down to earth and so nice to be around.
@@SuperCoolRadio did you see him play much? I vaguely remember him having an incredible four-way coordination.
@@williamperri3437 unfortunately, I have not had to the opportunity to see him play live. There was a show in my area but I was unable to make it. The only time I met Kofi in person was during the interview.
@@SuperCoolRadio Tbh, you didn’t wanna see Ginger Baker son play drums for at least a few bars? 😯 I can tell you the guy is a beast.
@@williamperri3437 I believe it. I wish I would of been able to make it to the show but I had a prior commitment that day. Kofi can definitely throwdown on the drums. I want to see him perform live and hopefully I can catch him at a show in the near future.
The interviewer should listen to some other music, since he is doing the interview vs. spending all the time on what he doesn't know and interviewing Kofi!
Thank you for watching! We appreciate the feedback!
