If you're considering purchasing an EV, DroneQuote's EV calculator is great because it will help you understand:
    • how much power your driving will require
    • how much $ you'll save vs. your ICE vehicle
    • and how many solar panels you would need to cover your driving"
    Here's the link: www.dronequote.net/evcalc/?a=electricsupercar

Also I wanted to add. Pro tip. Buy round magnets. When you put the reflective dots on a magnet then you can apply and reuse them more easily. It works very well on metal surfaces and will keep the costs down. Also sometimes it is a pain to remove these dots so it will make that also better. Back in the day they used magnets in prototype facilities. Also baby powder mixed with fastly drying Spirit is a good alternative for dry shampoo.

    Nice project!
I'm using scanning and 3d printing for a current project. Since you have an OBJ of your motor you should have it 3d printed 1:1 scale. It would weight less than 10 pounds and would be so much easier to create mounts

Another cheap scanning trick is to use Baby powder(or talcum powder) and mix it with Isopropyl alcohol, just put it in a utility spray bottle and off to the races. When your done, its easy cleanup. Excited to see how far down the rabbit hole you go on this one.

Losing the tracking was the reason I bought the Einstar over the Revopoint. It can track Geometry, Markers and Texture at the same time.
I ordered the Creality Raptor now for scanning smaller stuff with high precision too. The software is lacking but the Hardware with the blue laser is top notch.

When tilting the motor, the only real problem I see is the breather/“crankcase” ventilation. Depending on the location, if it’s getting close to the oil level it might start dribbling. Also may start dribbling out of the axle seals.
The diff may also start frothing the oil more if the oil rises above the plastic guard.
Other considerations are rotor&stator cooling differences, the change in gravity direction might have an effect on the oil flow distribution. All these probably aren’t a big issue for a one off car

Super Fast Matt has a video on the Einstar Scanner. He recommended 1 part baby powder to 4 parts isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle. I tried this on the inside back of a car and it was a game changer. After spraying the isopropyl evaporates leaving just baby powder, which ends up being a matte white and the scanner loves it.

Scanning things in computers is really an intriguing process. There seems to be less guesswork, and I can't help that when one is scanning that one also gts a better personal sense of the landscape of the object being scanned. BTW...in reference to your little ad for the solar company, I marvel at your relatively inexpensive cost per kWh for electricity. Here on O'ahu, the cost for electricity (including the taxes and fees) is about 36 cents per kWh. Without the fees, it's 28 cents per kWh. Solar panels (and solar water heating systems) are really popular here, to say the least.

is there any phone scanning app that gets half decent results ? having the camera and the screen in the same small device, plus the flash if needed...sounds like if could make things mucj easier from the operator point of view. I think some phones have depth sensors too, but the ones I tried a few years ago were really not that good or roo exoensive just to try out for fun.

So soon we'll see a custom 3d printed widebody Porsche gtE tesla powered awd cayman? 😁
I know this won't be a popular thought, but I still think dual model 3 or Y drive unit's would've worked better for this beauty.
Less size&much less weight to aid in you packaging them in. Is it to late to sell the current drive unit's?
This should be 650-800# less than any dual motor 3 and well over half a ton less than a dual motor model Y currently is.
So perf would still be outstanding, prob mid to upper 2s 0-60mph and low 10s in the 1/4mile with a decent pack powering it.
