On your next install, use the batwing to put two USB outlets that connect to the box hidden behind the console. That way the cubby tray is 100% accessible. Works even if car (batwing) has seat Heater switches.
BY THE WAY... The GPS antenna does not need to be on top of dash. It can be hidden below the dash as GPS signals can pass through plastic, as can the iPHone's GPS inside the car. If there's no mic in the instrument cluster's mic hole (i.e., it's empty), then it can be used to place the PCCM+'s mic in the instrument cluster's mic hole. You just have to remove the mic from what's provided in the PCCM+ kit and locate it into the instrument clusters mic holder. Thus both GPS and mic can be completely hidden from view.
It's a solid review all technical and all, but I for sure enjoy the bantering bits. Keep it up!

‘It’s an old bloke’ loved that, as an ‘old’ bloke I have a Cayman S, and drive it as it’s meant to be driven! I have looked at the PCCM+, as although it’s not cheap, it looks OE. The alternative are Dynavin, which also look OE, but cost nearly as much. Good to see a ‘real world’ review. PS. Apple CarPlay all the time!
It's very annoying watching it back and hearing myself say "air play" every time!

Had this done to my 2000 996 earlier this year. There is a USB plug with 3.5mm headphone plugin, that replaces the cigarette lighter. This is much more tidy and removes the need for the plugins taking up space in your lower phone bin. The USB is Android auto and Apple compatible.
? Is that an option with the factory kit? Url or pic we can see?

Your price seems very reasonable as everyone says it's quite a labour intensive installation, especially to the first time.

I'm sure i've been condemned by any purists but last week I installed a Pioneer DMH-2200EX. Fits brilliantly and all in was less than a 1/3 of the PCCM+ price. Truthfully i like listening to the motor but my teenage daughter enjoys a bit of music.....
Can you retain the front trunk CD multichanger if you have this installed.?If I can't still play my Top Gun soundtrack on CD then life ain't worth living.

I can get the PCCM+ for my 996 in the States but not a FGP decal.

So what did you do with the stock Head Unit you removed to make place for the PCCM+ ?
Also.... did the PCCM+ come ready to operate the Nav with route guidance and map database, or was the map database purchased in addition to the base PCCM+?
An absolute necessity to bring theses 20 year old cars into the 21st century. There are many head units that are so much cheaper. However they are just as functional as the branded model you’re showing. Also you can add a reversing camera which is a nice feature. Don’t know if you can get that on the Porsche’s unit.

Great unit, if a bit pricey
installed one a few days ago, volume is useless, considering returning it.
Does it really need Porsche written on it?
I have a Pioneer double din in my 06 C2S. I found an installation kit on Amazon that offered multiple car maker monikers on the outer mounting frame. Porsche was one of them. While the unit itself does say Pioneer on it, which I suppose sort of robs some of the novelty. You can at least have the Porsche brand included with the change over.

? cost advice for USA? Unit is $700 dealer install on a $1,200 - $1,300 unit cost. They’ve done 10 already so while seemingly expensive they know how to do it...
Strange that voice direction not heard from PCCM GPS. My Sony unit does pretty good job with Waze through Apple Car Play in 2002 C4S.

Fantastic unit. Looks great and I am looking at getting one for my Australian 996. Unfortunately, Porsche Australia is slow getting these to market and I am hoping to get one of the international models.
