Very nice hack. Never thought this would work. Was searching UA-cam on videos on how to replace my rack and pinion boot which is torn on both sides. If I can pull this off (pun and no pun intended), I will be saving quite some bucks. Thanks Ish.
Yea Sir, if someone doesn't know how to loosen bolts "righty tighty lefty loosie" they shouldn't be working on cars or anything else. Ha. Don't waste your time with them.
I was going to install the same boot in my car. Not after seeing this. I would rather pay someone than pay for a fresh alignment. This way is too messy.
This is a relatively clean job for mechanic work. I'm set to do this job and probably the messiest part will be cleaning out the old grease at that joint. That would have to be done regardless of whether you're using this boot method or the more common method.

This video is so underrated. The fix is fast and hella of a Hack! Mechanics will never show these tactics!
I appreciate the comments
The ex-girlfriend underwear tip worked for me! 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
😄😂🤣😋
Hahaha
Direct and to the point. Nice video.
Thanks man nice vid. Plan to do this on my girls RX330 this weekend
I've only seen people do this by taking the outer tie rod off. Ill definitely have to try your method.
OMG! It's like giving birth to a tie-rod end, the hard way!
Lol
I wish i had all the tools you do . 😅 ...It took me all day to get my tire off .
i can't stop laughing...
Put a plastic bag over the end of the tie rod and grease it. The boot will slide on much easier. Less messy too!
I’m debating weither thisv thing need a reach or just the bellows.. I’ll have to inspect better steering is definitely loose
Amazing!
You did show us the full replacement process of the inner boot.
Great 👍 JOB
Thanks Bro!!.... Great video and explanation!!
Try doing this on a 20 degree Colorado morning huh?! Bet it wont work that easily
Woohoo making s big ope mess raw handed too love it
Very nice good sir ...
Very informative
whats that tool call ? to tight down the clamps
Its a Clamp banding tool, but this one actually called Joint ear clamp banding tool & boot Crimp pliers, By ABN store,
I just saw your video, I need to replace my boot on my truck.I noticed you said ex-girlfriend I was just wondering have you replaced her yet🙂
Lol, no I'm still single
I can see that
Would be quicker to just undo the rid end ,just count the turns and put it back the same ,simple.
Hell no i aint trying to work that damn hard I’ll have s friend bake it or remove the damn tire try rod
Nice video but cutting the old boot off is NOT a secret.
the ex-girl friend's underwear really helped...
😂🤣😋
its maybe fine for american and some japanese cars while european ones hmm
