Prince simply defies definition. He experimented with so many genres of music and his androgynous style was so provocative for his time. He pushed all boundaries. A true creative genious.

The entire “Love Symbol” album and era exudes creativity in the most prolific way. From the album, to the tours (yes, there were more than one for this album; technically three), to the makeup, clothes and hair. Do not sleep on that record or anything he put out. You won’t hear this stuff on the radio, and much of it is some of his best and most ambitious work. O(+> 💜
*Check out “Newpower Soul,” from 1998. I dare to say that may be his best record of the ‘90s along with “Emancipation!”

Hmmmm...Prince was in a basement as a kid fine tuning many genres and fusions thereof. Blue light bulbs was regular usage then. A carry over from the 70s thru to the 80s. The song is 80s vibes instruments Prince style. The lyrics are based in his teen years on became an adult recently. Then add all the many influences and his own original creativity. Things were blue, raspberry, purple and it is and was great music.
That's Mayte who became his 1st wife in 1996 but the toll of their son dying st a few days old due to a rare genetic disorder tore them apart.
Prince was a talent to be reckoned with. An incredibly gifted guitarist and musician.
For a while I dated a guy who was in Catholic grade school with Prince in North Minneapolis and he said Prince was always sneaking off to the music room to play the piano and somehow the nuns realized how deeply music affected him and allowed it. He changed the World the short time he was here. The song you played was really nice and I had never heard it either. May I also suggest if you haven't heard his song "Raspberry Beret" that you give it a listen. Probably my Prince favorite but it's really hard to pick one because they're all So good. Very out there choice for a Prince song. Don’t even think it was a single. Deep deep album cut. Always liked it but def not one of his stand-outs, especially for those less familiar, but cool and unexpected to see a reaction vid to it.
So, I grew up listening to Prince. One of my favorites though is "My Name Is Prince" with the New Power Generation. The original 7 minute edit on the My Name is Prince and the NPG Remix album was what did it for me. The bars by the NPG, so good.
RIP, Prince.🙏 Asking you again to play and react to Fantasia singing “Summertime” when she was on “American Idol”. She was the winner that season because she sang that song so beautifully. I think it was in 2004.

I agree about the "Love Symbol" album, but I also love his "Graffiti Bridge" album. 'Thieves in the Temple' got me into it initially, but everything is great on it. The New Power Generation is awesome; I love the whole collaborative sound, where everyone is having a party! 💜💜💜
Would love to see you check out the live performances… America, Purple Rain (there are tons of great versions - I like the one from the American Music Awards), The Question if U, Shhh, and anything from the 2008 Montreux Jazz Festival (my favorites are Little Red Corvette, Empty Room/Elixer, All the Critics Love U). Love seeing you younger guys experiencing the genius of Prince.

Wow, I was a young woman during the beginning of the Prince era, but I don’t recall this song at all. I like the music but the lyrics I don’t care anything for. It appears that his wife, Mayte Garcia, is in this video; not sure if this was before or after she became his wife. She was In probably many of his videos.
I wonder if Prince's estate is allowing his music to be shared on you tube. When he was alive, his music couldn't be shared for free

I love Prince but everytime I hear him I think about back in the 90's ? 80's when those in Wash DC used "Darling Nikki" as an example of why album/casette packaging needed "Explicit" warnings. 😂

So SO SO many better PRINCE song than this one... simply put, Prince was his best before Larry Graham helped convert him to be a Jehovah's Witness. If y'all lived (grew-up) in the 1970's/80's you know exactly what I'm talking about!
