I'm Portuguese, great you liked it. Here's my suggestion for a 15 day trip ( i mean, less than that you're missing out !! ) Start in Porto first and go to Gerês national park. From there, its southbound all the way, to avoid wasting time in unnecessary trips. Visit Aveiro ( the Venice of Portugal ) , Coimbra, Nazaré ( the big wave spot) Óbidos, São Martinho do Porto and then the three spot turist trip: Lisboa, Sintra, Cascais. Setúbal should be next with its Arrábida beaches ( amazing ) then in the southern Algarve go to Portimão, Vilamoura, Albufeira, Lagos and Tavira. Got all that? 😎 This is just plan A. We here are so blessed i can also give you added plans with so much more for the whole alphabet! 🤣🤣🤣 All the best, felicidades!!
Would love to hear your advice on a three week travel in May of 2023. We hope to visit the Azores as well as that is where my grandparents were from. ❤️
I very much appreciate your presentation here in this video. No umms or pauses or filler, just the facts. You did not waste the viewers time and impart a lot of info, plus you are a good presenter with gestures and lots of energy. Well done. Thank You.
I have visited several countries, and I can assure you that Portuguese people are the most hospitable, pleasant, and inviting people I have ever met. utmost admiration for this nation and its lovely, loving locations.
I moved here a year ago without ever been there. What I notice most and what you repeated several times was the friendliness and kindness of the people. Madeira is definitely a hidden gem🤫!!
Coming back here after so long, im pleased to see people so interested in my country 😀 So after the blockbuster success of plan A, here's my plan B, for winter and north/ centre this time. Again start in Porto, and this time go north to Viana do Castelo ( great views from the Santa Luzia church), cozy Ponte de Lima ( the first roman settlement in Portugal ) Braga and Guimaraes ( make sure to visit the old centre and the castle ). From there, stop by Amarante, a charming medieval town with beautiful roman stone bridge. Then Viseu, voted several times the best city in the country to live. Next up, Estrela mountain range, this is a must with gorgeous landscapes that will make you feel like you're in game of thrones country. Then you can go to small "stone age" village of Monsanto ( where house of the dragon was filmed ) or Piódão, a remote but stunning settlement up in the mountains ( get ready for a rough trip there, but its worth it ). A bit south there's the city of Tomar, one of the knights templar safe havens and visit Christ convent there, very historical. For a 2 week vacation, there's a lot packed in there! Maybe later I'll do a plan C, or a Portugal: Islands edition for you guys. I hope im not so elderly before i get to plan Z!!!!
I am currently planning to go to Portugal. I will not have as much time as you did to enjoy all those attractions, however I think I can hit madera. I want my trip to be a mix of adventure as well as relaxation. I will try to enjoy lisbon, madera, and rent a car and do a one and half day trip up the coast. I have learned that you can't hit every single spot on a trip. Your video was so helpful to me, you are a superstar video blogger.
we the Portuguese knew what kind of country we had and thank God it took so many years to be discovered by the world ,because from now on it will go downhill because of the large amount of tourists, even the food is getting worst and more expensive, glad you enjoy it.
Portugal is one country I would love to visit! I have a couple friends who live in the Algarve which I haven't seen since 2019 when I saw them in Bali. I don't see me going there this year, but there's always 2023! Thank you for the tips, and awesome video!
Great video! Planning a trip to Portugal and this is the first video I've watched. The perfect video to cover which parts of the country to see and what to do.
You did a great job outlining your itinerary and you provided so many great tips. Trip planning can be so time consuming and overwhelming and you highlighted some great ideas. Your video will serve as a starting point for my trip with both of my daughters. Thanks!
so glad I watched your video before heading there! thank you! i thought it would be hot and was just planning on shorts, summer dresses, and linen pants. sounds like i should scrap the shorts and dresses and opt instead for jeans and linens pants and a jacket for lisbon and porto. but we'll also be in the algarve, where it sounds like it'll be hot. Having a hard time thinking through how to fit everything into carry-on rolly luggage (since it seems that I need to pack for both cool and windy and hot).
Decent basic tips for Portugal, very touristic but can do. One mistake they done imo was flying to Madeira. Either fly and stay there for whole duration or focus on continental Portugal, otherwise it's a waste of time for fllight and airport stuff.
Such a great video with some brilliant advice. Thank you so much for sharing these tips and your experiences. You managed to pack so much into your short stay! We totally agree that Portugal is an amazing country to visit... we came for a few months and have been here for almost 2 years 🇵🇹❤ ~ Mandy
Nice work on this video. Your enthusiasm makes me want to go. I only got this in my video recommend list as I have been looking at areas to buy over there.
Fun fact: Spanish and Portuguese are from the same language family 'Romance languages'. The other Romance languages are French, Italian, and Romanian.😊😊❤️❤️
Fantastic video! Just what I needed to see! Going to take a trip myself in January as my partner will be working in Lagos for a week or so. So my idea is to go myself from Sweden down to Maderia some night. Then on to Lisbon & further down & meet her. Maybe a little lonely, but from what you've heard about the population & all the sights, I guess I won't feel alone 😁
Thanks for the video Mahna. Planning on a Portugal Vacation this summer. We'll be leaving from Dulles also since we're just across the river from Lessburg. Which airline did you go with? Thanks for the travel tips.
Thank you so much for this enthusiastic and informative video. I was considering Portugal among my options but after watching my video I'm definitely going! Thank you!
Great info.. not sure how you were able to fit Madeira, azores and mainland in 10 days? How was driving experience? More specifically how was the parking situation?
Great video!
Thank you Mahna, very nice vlog -very informative and enough details. How many days and nights did you stay in Madeira. Im going there this April. Thank u in advance 🙏🏼
Thank you for you vog!!! Very Inforitive! Regarding the flight from US to LIsbon. What airlines was that? Were you in Econemy or Premium.? We are planning to go in Oct. How are the crowds then?
I really enjoyed your video after watching so many other videos about Portugal. My wife and I plan to visit in the middle of May from NY and we want to do Lisbon, Algarve coast and Porto. Did you book all your accommodation before or during your trip? Were all the beaches you visited parking friendly? Lastly, what are the driving times from Lisbon to Algarve Coast, Algarve Coast to Porto and then Porto back to Lisbon airport? Thanks
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kindness! That is so exciting. I booked everything a few weeks before the trip. I was able to easily find parking options everywhere we went! Given, we went to a lot of places during sunrises or sunsets but it really wasnt crazy crowded to where I couldn't find parking. That wasnt an issue. And for those driving times what I suggest doing to help visualize your route is plug all the stops in the order you want to go onto Google maps! Then, on your trip make sure to have the Google Maps app, plus the region of Portugal you are traveling to downloaded for offline use. Hope that helps and happy travels!
Thank you so much for this.. I’m going with my friend next year and this was helpful. I also aside from English speak fluent Spanish so I was glad to know that at least I can get by.😅 One question how far was it to drive from Lisbon to the Algarve host. Because we’re renting a car too and I just wanted to get a sense of how long.
So glad its helpful! Thats perfect haha yes you will be totally great! I would recommend downloading Google Maps offline maps, I had service but honestly the google maps and the roads there are so perfect, you will be able to easily navigate everywhere! It was approximately 3 hours!
you're not Spanish, so avoid speaking Spanish in Portugal, stick to English and you'll be fine. We have a long story with our neighbors and most of it isn´t a happy one...
Fabulous video. Lot’s of great info. Thanks. I would love any locals input regarding rental cars. Driving tips, etc. Going for 2 weeks in September, I rented an Avis Automatic,I’m guessing my T-Mobile GPS will work? I’ve heard Portuguese driving can be a little crazy and different, but I’m assuming it’s still smart to rent a car. Thanks for any inputs or suggestions. Cheers. 😊
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful! As an American driving in Portugal, I felt it was very safe and orderly. My Google Fi international plan worked perfectly the whole time in Portugal! Happy travels!
We are planning to go in January to Algarve. Just wanted to know if you would recommend booking a rental car before we leave or rather book once we get there. Many thanks.
Amazing video. I am researching now on a trip there in April. Looks like so many wonderful places to see but can't do all of it :(. Within the city is it still better to have a rental car vs using the buses and trams?
Thank you so much for checking it out! Hmm I'd say including round trip flights for 2 people and accommodation, activities, food, car rental, $4k ish range is my first guess!
When people describe Madeira as the Hawaii of Europe they totally miss out on the fact that Hawaii has got breathtaking beaches and Madeira hasn't got any at all. The beaches are all sub-standard and even saying that, would be an understatement. Other than the beaches the island is gorgeous but when going on vacation in a sunny place, having good beaches is vital
Its the 9+ islands of the Azores that is the Atlantic Hawaii, but its more correct to say Hawaii is the Pacific Azores , There's beaches in Madeira & the ones on Porto Santo island has beaches as good or better than Hawaii , don't know where you got your info but check again... Madeira & the Azores are spectacular & would match them up against any other islands on the planet you should visit some time but make sure you pick up your trash or you will get slapped in the back of the head by the locals you've been warned :)))
Loved the video and your jour de vivre! We are visiting Portugal for February and March and are looking to rent a car at Lisbon Airport for the duration of our stay. We have read many horror stories about third-party rentals and are hoping that you, or anyone reading this, may have suggestions on which companies are safe to deal with? Many thanks!
Thank you so much! That is so exciting! We rented from AVIS. It took literally hours to get the car, the lines were so long. It was very expensive as it was June when we were renting but finally got the car and it was amazing, no problems, returned it alright. Would recommend paying a bit more for the premium names always to avoid headaches. Hope that helps!
I live here and I literally learned to drive a manual car so that I could rent for $1.50 a day instead of $25 a day and we’ve been renting for a year and a half because it’s so cheap. Very proud of myself.😂
Thanks to introduce Madeira to us, it will definitely on our bucket list now. But we also don’t want to miss Lisbon and Algarves, I guess 2 weeks are neede lol😅

Thank you! I will be traveling to Portugal next week. Luckily, many of the places that you have listed are on my list too!
Is January a good time to visit Portugal ?
@@alondramalfavon1526 not really, I'd say the last two weeks of March.

awww thank you so much! Yes I just made a packing video, I will make breakdown clothing videos soon! :)
Very beautiful, thank you so much for sharing
Thanks so much!
Great video. What was your 10 day budget (not including the flight)?
thank you so much! I don't have budget broken down but I'd say approx $2-3K for 2 people!
I’m going to Lisboa in August 😊
I live here and I literally learned to drive a manual car so that I could rent for $1.50 a day instead of $25 a day and we’ve been renting for a year and a half because it’s so cheap. Very proud of myself.😂
I’m thinking of going end of December. Is that a good time?
Thanks to introduce Madeira to us, it will definitely on our bucket list now. But we also don’t want to miss Lisbon and Algarves, I guess 2 weeks are neede lol😅
Haha yes, so much to explore! Thanks for watching!
