Hello Tony, Great video and great advice. I am visiting Lisbon on 10/27 and have the afternoon off. Is it worth the trip to go to Sintra after 12pm. Do you think I have enough time to visit Pena Palace and Castle of the Moors? Can I use Lisbon Card for the train from Lisbon to Sintra? Sorry for so many questions. Thank you so much.
THANK YOU very much for this wonderful video of Sintra!! Question... Is it 1 hour on each attraction (Pena Pl, Moorish Cstl, and the Quinta) enough? I know that it depends on how much time I want to spend on each, but I'm doing a day trip and I don't want to miss any part of the attraction because I spend too much time in one of them. How long did you stay on each attraction? Thanks again
@@PYJacob hi, one hour is absolutely not enough. It's more like two hours, even more in the case of the castle where you have to walk a lot. The Quinta da Regaleira is quite extense, too.
Dear Tony, thank you so much for this video with all the valuable tips! I just came back to Lisbon from a perfect day trip to Sintra. You do great job with this channel!
We recently visited Sintra using your tips and managed to skip the Scotturb buses. We went uphill and downhill using Bolt(or was it Uber) from the centre. It was rather cheap at 1.9euro due to promo 😂. Bought the ticket to Pena palace only when we arrived there, as we were early and due to December cold weather , there was no queue. Later we strolled in Sintra town centre.Thank you for the tips! The stroll upward from entrance of Pena Palace is not recommended for those with weak knees, leg problems. Definitely need to use comfortable shoes! Thank you again for the great tips. Lots of love from Malaysia!
Thank you for sharing your experience in Sintra, Najida! Great to hear Uber worked perfectly for your trip up hill. Kind regards from Zaragoza (we've been to KL once).
Your video was very helpful for our visit of Sintra in February. We followed your advice and skipped the bus. We took a Bolt to go to the Moorish Castle; there was no hassle and we had a pleasant conversation with the driver. Thank you for the tip!
All your videos are Gold Tony! Detailed but with the most useful tips / information. I am watching all of them and my excitement to visit Portugal is growing!
Thank you! You covered all aspects of the journey in the sort video. Its rare to find such detailed info and I glad that I found your channel in UA-cam.
Nice video. My wife and I visited Sintra in this past April and the place was jammed with tourists. We stayed at a hotel for two nights and if you are going to visit Sintra in anything but the dead of winter, I recommend spending a couple of nights there. We stayed at the Sintra Nova Hotel and loved it. There are city buses that run up to the Pena Palace, but we took an Uber up there for about 7 Euros. The lines are long, but, the views are really worth it. As the video points out you can then walk down to the Moorish Castle, which is very impressive. After we toured the Moorish Castle, we walked down to the center of town and it's all downhill. Don't try to walk up to the Pena Palace or the Moorish Castle unless you are in pretty good shape and have some very good footwear on. Since we had extra time, we visited The Sintra National Palace downtown, and if you have the time I highly recommend it. We also went to the Quinta da Regaleira and that too is really worth visiting. Again, if you are anywhere near the high season the place will be mobbed.
Thanks, Nils, it sounds as you might have visited Sintra during the Easter period (but then, we might be wrong). You are right, I think right now most tourist cities in the planet are experiencing a visitor overload. We talk in the video about the city buses, a huge scam.
Thank you for your great video! I am from a village near Sintra and what you have mentioned is spot on. The best time to visit is in the spring and early automn. It is a beautiful jewel and well worth the visit. 😊
If you’re reasonably fit, walking from the station to the Palace and/or moorish castle is very doable. The single file traffic queue is so slow, walking up is almost as quick and more satisfying.
It is quite possible that this video is one of the most informative ones in terms of taking a day trip to Sintra from Lisbon. Although it would have been better to include information about "Cabo da Roca", the video is still good enough. Thanks for your work!
This is one of the best channels I've ever followed! Thank you for your informative videos! We will be visiting Lisbon next week and from there, we will day-trip to Sintra before heading to Porto. We've watched many of your videos, and they are extremely helpful! Obrigado!
I confess that, until then, I had not seen films or videos about Sintra. Looks like a charming city! Video of excellent production: maps, subtitles, script, content, images. I loved it 👏.
Very informative and detailed video. I am planning my trip to Portugal using your video. I love that u have the location and the food you tried or eat long enough on the video for me to write it down. 😊😊😊❤❤
I've watched many-many UA-cam videos and yours offer precise details that any travelers should watch. I thank you for all the tips you provided me and my family for Barcelona-Monserrat-Girona -- fabulous! Can't wait to venture onto Lisbon-Sintra -- thank you!
So glad that I checked your video before our trip, especially the information about the bus 😀 Thank you so much Tony. Your videos are by far the most clear and informative I found on youtube. Keep up the good work and warm regards from Germany. ❤
Many thanks for your kind words, Eva. Out of curiosity, I've just checked recent comments on the bus service and it seems nothing has changed, it continues to be a total rip-off. Stay away from it. Have a great trip! Regards from Zaragoza.
Hello Tony .. my husband and I will be visiting Lisbon,Sintra,Madrid and Barcelona in October. We are from Canada 🇨🇦. I’ve been binge watching all your videos.. it’s very informative, well put together and you put a lot of effort on it . I really appreciate it .. I’m excited and nervous at the same time visiting Portugal and Spain for the first time .More power and success on your channel!
Thank you for a lovely video. I won't be taking the bus. Probably Uber or walk. Will also pre purchase tickets too. You've really helped us plan our trip. Again, thank you so much.
Just back from Lisbon/Sintra. Your advice about using Uber instead of the Scotturb bus was spot on. It saved us a lot of time and bother. Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle were spectacular. Also, Bacalhau na Vila was lovely. Thank you for the recommendations
Loved this video Tony. It brought back great memories of my visit there 4 years ago. Can I say that the production, animations and presentation of your videos is fantastic, Tony. The information and links are much appreciated and a massive time saver. You are a fantastic resource. Thanks to you and Cecilia for the videos.
Thank you so much for your advice! We went to Sintra two weeks ago and until the last moment we've been wondering how to get from the rail station to the main attractions. The main information is to use bus 435, but there are too many negative commets about their services. Then I saw this video and your advice to use Uber. This was the best advice ever. We went to Pena Palace, Monserrate palace and Quinta la Regaleira and it was perfect. Thank you sooo much!
Olá Tony ! 😊 Thanks for all the helpful tips and information. I'm really impressed with the way you present your videos . . . Such clarity and comprehensive information 👍 Sintra is surely a "must" see when visiting Portugal! 👍👍👍 Till your next video ...Obrigado!! 😊
When we were in Sintra in 2019, we walked from the train up to Quinta da Regaleira. We had been talking about possibly moving from the U.S. to either Spain or Portugal. On our walk up to Quinta, we passed a dilapidated but beautiful old Moorish mansion. We wondered how much we could get it for and invest into renovation. We decided to discuss it when we returned back to the U.S. About a week later, it was all over the news that Madonna had purchased a home in Sintra and wouldn't you know, it was the exact home we had been looking at. When we found out what she paid for it, we were grateful that someone had the "MILLIONS" necessary to renovate it. But from what I hear, she lives in the guest house and nothing has been done to the main house to date. Oh well. If you look at a screen shot of your video at 15:16, you can see the back side of her home on the lower left hand corner.
Nice Clip. There are two routes in Sintra by Public Bus. Route 434 and Route 435. Route 434 takes you to Pena Palace. Tuk Tuk service forces you to hire them. Public Bus is cheap and best.
Hello Tony. I appreciate your videos. So informative & helpful. We will do our entire trip to Barcelona & Lisbon as per your guidance & recommendations 🙏 A Big Thank You.
Tony, this was excellent and much appreciated! Thank you for explaining the train to take, how to get tickets and getting around Sintra. Your commentary was outstanding. My wife and I are visiting Sintra soon. Glad to hear Uber is an option.
Tony I love Sinatra and all of Portugal… my favourite trip when I was a travel agent. I have retired but I will be visiting Spain for the first time next April..❤❤❤ all of your videos!!!
Hola Tony, Thank you for the super helpful videos!! We are visiting Spain & Portugal in October & are binge watching your excellent videos. Thank you! We appreciate you!! ✈️👍🏼
Thank you for all the info and tips. We were in Lisbon in December last year and planned a day trip to Sintra but due to bad weather we didn't get to go there ☹️ still very sad about it, will have to wait for next visit to Portugal
Great video, thanks so much Tony. We're going to Lisbon for 5 days after two weeks and thinking about go to Sintra for a day trip. Thanks for all the information and it's very useful.
@@jeremyrusso-ball6578 the tuk tuk charges us 5 € per person up qnd the same coming down. We were very fortunate to have a guys who served as a guide too. He explained the sites as we went up. Pena palace is spectacular.
Hi Tony@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal, my husband and I love your videos. So informative, clear and interesting!! Thank you for taking time to make them. One question, you mention about this bus. My husband thinks you mean Bus 434. I don't think so. Can you clarify? And if it is not the same, can you tell us if Bus 434 is worth taking? Thank you,
Palacio da Pena is well worth the trip to see and explore on the outside. But on the inside, if you've seen one palace, you've seen them all. No need to wait in line to see the interior. Then, walk down from Palacio da Pena. Lovely trek through mystical gardens and forest. If it's foggy, even better. Gives Sintra a creepy, fairy tale like atmosphere. If you've been to Castelo São Jorge in Lisbon, maybe skip the Castelo dos Mouros in Sintra. More of the same. Go straight to Quinta da Regaleira. Brilliant place. That leaves you more time to check out one of the lesser touristy palaces like Montserrate and Queluz.
Thanks for the advises, we took good use of them! I haven't found hard to walk between the main spots. Metro station - Quinta De Reguilera was about 30 min. Then from there to the Moorish Castle was about an hour (with a 65 years old, not very fit lady) and I would never switch that experience with going up by car. The hiking trail is very unique. Scammer tuk-tuk drivers are trying to scare you that it take 2 hours to go up, but if you are fit, you can do it in 30 mins. Pena Castle is quite close to the Moorish Castle but we finally skipped that one, had a nice view on it from the top and didn't wanted to go inside neither. We arrived lasy around 10:30 to Sintra and left at 17:00 so there is still enough time to visit everything if you come earlier.
Thanks for sharing valuable information on the hiking trails. It's all about time. You can walk but that will force you skip places. In our opinion, the Palacio de Pena is one of the must-see visits in Sintra. But if you are going to spend the night in Sintra, by all means, enjoy the trails!
Hello and Thank you . Question for you- is it better to fly from us to porto first and then come back to United States from Lisbon and then make a trip to Sintra from Lisbon? I love your videos.
The initiation well is the sole reason I will visit Portugal this autumn. I'll go there first when arriving in Sintra, in the hope that the majority of people first head to pena castle.
@@Bamboule05 it is a one way visit, just going down. Still, there are smart alecs who think the rule doesn't apply to them, creating chaos on the stairs going down the well.
Thank you once again! Ive been wrapping my head around Sintra and understood most of it but your videos showing exactly what it looks like at train station and what to buy helps. And yes I read about the bus so we are going to decide on tuck tuck or Uber. We are going next winter first week of March and concerned about Pena Palace timing. I went back and forth on Pena Palace first or Quinta de Regaleria. Mainly because we want to see the same 3 sites in your video but also not sure if we need to book tickets in advance during first week of March. What are your thoughts? Do we book Pena Palace timeslot? Do we go after lunch + Moorish Castle?
Hello, there is quite a lot of ground to cover in the Palacio and the Moorish Castle, that's why we decided to get it over with in the morning. But the afternoon sounds fine too, you would have to double check closing times. There are so many tourists around these days, everywhere, that we no longer feel confident recommending arriving without a ticket for the most popular attractions. All the best.
Hello Tony! Thanks for all the wonderful details in your excellent videos. Do you know if UBER or BOLT will transport me from my Lisbon hotel directly to the PENA Palace gate?
18:37 Thank you for the video. We are visiting at the end of September. Will we have enough time to see Pena Park, Pena Palace, Morris Castle and Quinta Regaleira in a day trip from Lisbon.
Great shots, gives me a good sense of elevation, distances and all the beautiful things in this town. Do you have any recommendations on the tourist train « Comboio de sintra, Circuito da Pena ». Not sure if one can hop on and off or if it’s just a circuit.
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Very well done and gave me what i need to know when we go this February 2024. Your knowledge helps me to know what to expect and how much we can see in the day. Couple questions. Would there be less crowds people in February when i go? What would be the temperature in terms of cold/dressing....in CANADA very cold during winter months and lots of snow where i am. Please advise and thanks in advance. Your videos are amazing!! Faye CANADA
Hi Faye, unless there is a special event we are not aware of, there will be less crowds that during the high season. But that doesn't mean no tourists, far from it. The images on the video were recorded in February. Anything we tell you about the weather will be pure guesswork, you'll need to check a week before travel. But don't worry, you'll be more than prepared for whatever "cold" temperatures you might encounter. All the best!
Thanks Tony for the fast reply. In your video i can clearly see that MOORISH Castle is next to PENA PALACE............how long is the walk from PENA to MOORISH? I like this video as these are the 3 pplaces on my list for SINTRA. Your video helps me plan according to where their location is. According to your video it would make sense to do PENA first and then MOORISH. Break to centre then over to QUINTA. Question: From MOORISH to Centre for lunch can you easily walk or have to take bus/tuk tuk? Then from centre is it a flat walk to QUINTA? and how long is walk if we have lunch in the centre? Faye @@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@@fayegee9894 From the entrance of Pena Palace to the entrance of the Moorish Castle is a fifteen minute walk, maximum. The walk from Moorish to the centre will take quite a lot of time and it's very steep going down. Take a Bolt/Uber. The walk from the centre to the Quinta is flat. Fifteen minutes maximum.
This is such a helpful video to plan our upcoming trip. When you said you were there in winter, which month was that? Our trip will be in mid November and we want to be prepared for the weather.
We've been to Sintra several times. Last time it was February. You need to check the weather forecast a few days before your trip to be able to tell what is going to be like for sure.
Good evening to you all. Boa noite por todos😁 I am a great fan of Portugal and have been many, many times to the town center of Sintra, and the National Palace of Sintra, as a tour guide with my clients. However I have never been to the Sintra mountain, with the Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle and the beautiful gardens up there. In a few days I will be travelling in a group of four from our Lisbon hotel to Sintra. We will visit a Fado place in the evening, leaving us limited time to stay in Sintra. Would you say it is nonsense to take a taxi from our Avenida Liberdade hotel to Sintra, the top of the mountain, if possible and a train on our return journey to Lisboa? Would we be able to find a taxi, tuc-tuc or an Uber on the mountain to take us down to the town center for our Bacalhau, before walking to the train station in Sintra for our return to our hotel?
Hi Jón, going to Sintra by taxi sounds fun. Unless you go on a critical date, you should also be able to find an Uber/Bolt to take you down from the mountain. All the best.
Excellent video! Everything that I would need for Sintra! Thank you for sharing! I have a quick question, when is it considered "low season" in Lisbon? Is it very busy mid-March?
Thank you! The notion of low season has drastically changed after the pandemic, it's greatly a thing of the past. But March should be quieter than the high season months.
If I plan to do sight-seeing in Lisbon for 2 days and Sintra for a day trip, do you suggest I buy 72hrs Lisboa Card? Would the trip from Lisbon to Sintra transport and attractions covered by Lisboa Card? Thank you for your excellent videos, very helpful, we are visiting Lisbon in Feb 🙏
We would only but the Lisboa Card for 48 hours. While it includes the train to Sintra, in Sintra itself it only gives smalls discounts on the full price of the attractions. All the best!
Wonderful, thank you! If we wanted to visit all the places you mentioned in Sintra, including those places you missed out on, how many nights do you recommend in hotel for good, not hurried, in-depth visit? Would 3 hotel nights in Sintra be your recommendation? I am thinking 6-7 nights in Lisbon and then take Uber from Lisbon to Sintra for 3 nights (more? fewer?). Any thoughts and opinions? We plan to rent a car, picking it up in Sintra, on the last day there to drive to see more of Portugal. Muchas gracias!
Hi Tony, Thanks for the video, I am planning to visit Sintra next month (weather permitted). The €15 ticket on Civitatis website, does that include the interior of Pena Palace. I saw other videos and some mentioned that to view the interior, there will be additional fee. Much appreciate all your videos.
I wish I had seen this prior to visiting Sinatra. We were victims of the bus scam and wasted a lot of time. Amazing place but we didn’t see enough of it.
hi, Tony, great videos, thank you so much! tomorrow we are travelling to Sintra from Cascais by car. Do you haven information where to best park, or if there are free parking? thank you again
Hi Jeremy, we never went to Sintra by car but your best chances are near the train station. Parking in the core centre of Sintra is next to impossible. Have a great trip!
hi, loving your videos, thanks. We will be visiting Sintra in March 24 from Lisbon. At what time do you suggest starting our trip to get the most out of our day?
Hello Tony! Thank you for all of your very helpful tips. My friends and I will be taking a day trip from Lisbon to Sintra next month and I just had one question about Pena Palace. We are only interested in seeing the colorful outside of the palace. Do we still need to purchase the “Palace and Park” tickets to do so or just the “Park” tickets? I haven’t been able to find a clear answer…
Hi Katy, the ticket control for those entering the castle is right at the entrance to the building, so I assume with the park ticket you will be able to enter the gardens and roam around the building. Mind you, the view of the building is not as good as you think, as the gardens are at a lower level, and there are bits of the façade that cannot be seen from far.
Thank you, Alison. It might well have been one of the inspirations, but the building f the Ministry has changed quite a bit over the different seasons. All the best!
Another great video. Thank you! The aerial shots are very helpful to see what everything looks like. I had been reading about the bus transportation and am so disappointed that it has horrible service and scam ticketing. I really appreciate the warning and suggestion to take Uber or Bolt. I’ll be traveling there solo, on my own, so want to have a plan ahead of time for what I’ll be doing. I’m thinking of getting there early and hopefully able to get a Bolt/Uber ride to Peña Palace for earliest entry. Will buy tickets ahead. How is the walk from the Moorish Castle back to the town center? Wondering if that would be an option or try to get a ride from Bold or Uber? Definitely want to see the Quinta da Regaleira as well. Was hoping to fit in the National Palace but sounds like that might be too much, especially if spending time walking the grounds of these places. Again, thanks for the very helpful video!
Hi Susan, from all the recent comments we've read, it seems the bus scam continues unaltered. From the Moorish Castle to town is a steep descent, shouldn't take more than half an hour but we would try to get a Bolt/Uber. Sintra looks small but all the visits demand quite a lot of time. Have a great trip!
I'm watching this for the 10th time. Haha. I'm glad I can use the zapping credits for the Sintra train to avoid the long lines. Do you happen to know where I can get info on walking to the Pena Palace. It's my understanding there are two trails: Santa Maria and Villa Sassatti. One of them is closed but how can I confirm? Are the trails clearly marked? Thanks
Walking to Pena Palace doesn't make no sense, even if you are super fit. Unless, of course, you are spending the night in Sintra. Otherwise, you'll waste very valuable time. The tourist office in the centre should provide up-to-date information on the paths.
We haven't got any experience of leading groups, but are aware of the challenges involved. If you could find a local operator offering the trip for you, it might be a good idea. Otherwise, you can always try it on your own following our advice. Transport in Sintra will be the biggest challenge.
Hi Tony, thank you for an awesome video. Do you recommend going to Sintra with a baby (10 mos old)? I understand there’s uphill walking and transport between sites can be challenging. We’re planning to go next year and would love to visit Sintra if it’s doable with a baby. 😀
Hi Dyann, we always find it next to impossible to answer a question like yours. There are no two babies alike. Some parents take their babies wherever they go, even to the top of the mountains, others plan specific itineraries adopted to the needs of their babies. In Sintra there is transport available to take you almost everywhere.
Firstly. Obrigada!! Your videos are the most informative and practical I have been able to find. Absolutely wonderful. How far in advance would you recommend purchasing the palacio de pena tickets? We are a group of 4 planning to be there in early May on a Wednesday for the first time slot (0930h).
Thanks so much, Claudia. May is no longer low season in Lisbon, but I reckon one week in advance should get you tickets for the first time slot - unless there is some huge flow of tourists in Sintra we cannot anticipate right now.
Sorry, another question I neglected to ask: We are considering parking in SIntra (presumably near the train station) early in the morning (approximately 0800-0830h). Do you think this is advisable or is finding parking there too difficult? Obrigada outra vez. :)
@@claudiawilson294 parking in Sintra is no mean task. Your chances are better near the station but unfortunately we cannot share any advice on the topic as we've always avoided going to Sintra by car.
I like your vedio. I plan to visit Sintra on 11 Oct 2023. Will it be crowded in Oct. Do I need to buy entrance tickets of Palace of Pena and Quinta de Regaleira in advance? Long que for ticket? How I move from Palace of Pena and Quinta de Regaleira? Thanks.
Impossible to tell what the crowds will be like in October. There are always tourists in Sintra, so buying tickets in advance, at least for Palacio da Pena, is advisable. To go from Palacio da Pena to Quinta da Regaleira you need to return to the centre of Sintra. The bus would be ideal but on the video we advise against it. If you order a Bolt/Uber, it will take you directly to Quinta da Regaleira.
THANK YOU very much for this wonderful video of Sintra!! Question... Is it 1 hour on each attraction (Pena Pl, Moorish Cstl, and the Quinta) enough? very helpful ! Question,,,if we were to go to Sintra by car from Lisbon, is it difficult to find parking? I get mixed information...Thank you...i know it would be better bt train, but we have use of a car so just wondering.
Hello Tony, what do you think about renting a car for a day from Lisbon and going to Pena Palace, then Cabo de Roca and Cascais and returning back to Lisbon? We are not sure if we have parking problem with the car in Sintra.
Hi Halil, the thought of going to Sintra and only visiting Pena Palace sounds so strange to us? Why not visit the other wonderful sites in the city? In any case, with your rented car you would first have to struggle to find a place to park at the base of the mountain in Sintra and then you would have to get an authorized transport to go to Pena Palace. We recommend a full day for Cascais.
Excellent video Tony! I have a question. Can you buy the 1 day transport card in Lisbon with CP option included and use it for this trip or do you need to buy one with a zapping option? Gracias!!
Hi Tony , absolutely love your channel and the information you supply .... Since the bus is a scam what option do you recommend to get from Sintra train station to Pena Palace ?? thank you
Hi Tony: Really love your videos. Very informative. I have a question. The bus that you mention - ScottURB - is that the bus transport (round trip) between the main entrance of the Park and the Pena Palace? I want to make sure that I use Uber or Bolt or Tuk Tuk instead. Also, do you recommend purchasing the Lisboa pass for sightseeing in Lisbon? Thanks again for your response.
Thanks a lot! The ScottURB bus is the only one running up the park and the palace. We are not familiar with the Lisboa pass, but if you mean the Lisboa Card, it is excellent and we have a recent video about it ua-cam.com/video/mAOnlXe1iKs/v-deo.html
Hi Tony, thanks for your informative video. We’re visiting Sintra this July and would like to visit the Peña Palace for the beautiful terraces, courtyard, gates, sentry walk and walls. We are not planning to visit the interior rooms or cloisters. Do the ‘Park only’ tickets allow entry into the Palace at the Monumental Gate? Or must we get the Palace and Park tickets for this?
Hi there, it's a pity you don't plan on visiting the interior of the palace, it is truly extraordinary. With the park only ticket you will only be able to reach one of the inferior gates of the palace.
Love your videos, inlate dec.Jan, is the weather similar to northern Spain?z still deciding whether Madrid and northern Spain or Porto,Lisbon and Madrid, very uncertain about the weather
Hi, yes, the weather should be similar, those are traditional rainy months, but with recent changes in weather patterns you no longer can tell for sure.

@NilsMontanEsq you were 2 of those tourists jamming the place up.
It is quite possible that this video is one of the most informative ones in terms of taking a day trip to Sintra from Lisbon. Although it would have been better to include information about "Cabo da Roca", the video is still good enough. Thanks for your work!
Thank you, Emre. We would never combine Sintra and Cabo da Roca on a day trip.
This is one of the best channels I've ever followed! Thank you for your informative videos! We will be visiting Lisbon next week and from there, we will day-trip to Sintra before heading to Porto. We've watched many of your videos, and they are extremely helpful! Obrigado!
Thank you, Chris, hope you'll have a great time.
I confess that, until then, I had not seen films or videos about Sintra. Looks like a charming city! Video of excellent production: maps, subtitles, script, content, images. I loved it 👏.
Thanks, Yara. Sintra is wonderful, a must-see visit!
Thank you for such a clear and detailed video guide to Sintra! This was by far one of the most useful guide I've come across.
Delighted to hear that, Jessica!
Very informative and detailed video. I am planning my trip to Portugal using your video. I love that u have the location and the food you tried or eat long enough on the video for me to write it down. 😊😊😊❤❤
Excellent to hear that. Hope you'll have a great trip!
I've watched many-many UA-cam videos and yours offer precise details that any travelers should watch. I thank you for all the tips you provided me and my family for Barcelona-Monserrat-Girona -- fabulous! Can't wait to venture onto Lisbon-Sintra -- thank you!
Thank you so much, Lynn, we're delighted to hear you've had such a wonderful trip. All the best!
Ola! Tudo Bem Tony, Thank you for your series of Lisbon videos. Super helpful for planning our itinerary and day trips to Cascais and Sintra.👍
Olá! Delighted to hear that!
Thank you for your kind words, Anna. Hope you and your husband will have a superb trip!
Thank you for a lovely video. I won't be taking the bus. Probably Uber or walk. Will also pre purchase tickets too. You've really helped us plan our trip. Again, thank you so much.
Great to hear that. Bear in mind it is a very long walk!
Great to hear you had an excellent time in Sintra!
Thanks for sharing your travel experience in Portugal. They are informative for first-time visitors to Portugal.
Our pleasure, Willard!
Excellent. Detailed, well explain and meticulous editing. The perfect travel guide video. I will follow your steps in April.
Hope you'll have a great trip!
Thank you so much for your kind words, George. We strive to make our videos as helpful as possible. All the best!
Hi Silvia, delighted to hear you had a splendid time in Sintra. All the best!
Te sigo en el canal en español pero ahora voy a Portugal, gran video como siempre!!! Gracias muchas gracias
¡Gracias a ti!
This is perfect timing. I will be in Sintra toward the end of September.
Excellent!
Best video I've watched about Sintra. Thank you for the important info you shared
Delighted to hear that!
Very helpful, thank you so much.

Olá Tony ! 😊 Thanks for all the helpful tips and information. I'm really impressed with the way you present your videos . . . Such clarity and comprehensive information 👍 Sintra is surely a "must" see when visiting Portugal! 👍👍👍 Till your next video ...Obrigado!! 😊
Muito obrigado, Philip! Sintra is such a wonderful place!
Thank you for sharing you wonderful story about Sintra, Peter.
Nice Clip. There are two routes in Sintra by Public Bus. Route 434 and Route 435. Route 434 takes you to Pena Palace. Tuk Tuk service forces you to hire them. Public Bus is cheap and best.
In the video, our thoughts on the public bus.
Hello Tony. I appreciate your videos. So informative & helpful. We will do our entire trip to Barcelona & Lisbon as per your guidance & recommendations 🙏 A Big Thank You.
Great to heart that, Marlene!
Tony, this was excellent and much appreciated! Thank you for explaining the train to take, how to get tickets and getting around Sintra. Your commentary was outstanding. My wife and I are visiting Sintra soon. Glad to hear Uber is an option.
Have a great trip to Sintra!
Very detailed useful information. Thank you!

Great to hear that, Faye.

Thank you for your bus tip!
Any time! From recent comments we've read, it seems the situation continues the same.
Thank you for all the info and tips. We were in Lisbon in December last year and planned a day trip to Sintra but due to bad weather we didn't get to go there ☹️ still very sad about it, will have to wait for next visit to Portugal
Always good to have a powerful reason to return to a place you liked.
Excellent video. Thank you, kindly. We are visiting Sintra tomorrow and will definitely follow your advice.
Have a great trip!

Another great video by Tony . Thanks a lot.

Great video, thanks so much Tony. We're going to Lisbon for 5 days after two weeks and thinking about go to Sintra for a day trip. Thanks for all the information and it's very useful.

Hi Tony. We used your videos and it was worth it. Took the train to Sintra and took the tuk tuk to castle Pena. Thank you so much.
Great to hear that, Marlene!
hi, there. we are going there tomorrow! can you say how much the tub-tuk costed?
@@jeremyrusso-ball6578 the tuk tuk charges us 5 € per person up qnd the same coming down. We were very fortunate to have a guys who served as a guide too. He explained the sites as we went up. Pena palace is spectacular.
Thanks for the tip about the bus! It's recommended so much I never would have guessed it was such a scam.
Don't mention it!
Hi Tony@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal, my husband and I love your videos. So informative, clear and interesting!! Thank you for taking time to make them. One question, you mention about this bus. Great Video. Thanks for the intro and warning visitors of the SCAM BUS!!! I am looking forward to my visit in 2024.
Hope you'll have a great trip. From what we've read online, the scam bus continues to operate in the same way as described in the video.
Thank you very much for such an informative and interesting video. 😊
👍👍👍👍
I love Sintra ❤
We too!
Thank you soooooo much!!!!!!!
That's very kind of you!
such a quality presentations..love your chanel!!!!
Delighted to hear that!
Fantastic video
Thank you!
Thank you, very informative.
Great to hear that!
Hello and
Thank you . Question for you- is it better to fly from us to porto first and then come back to United States from Lisbon and then make a trip to Sintra from Lisbon? I love your videos.
Hello, your suggestion sounds quite good. Sintra needs to be a trip from Lisbon. All the best!
The initiation well is the sole reason I will visit Portugal this autumn. I'll go there first when arriving in Sintra, in the hope that the majority of people first head to pena castle.
Try to get there first time in the morning, the well gets crowded with impatient tourists that do not always follow the rules.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal what rules? please specify. thank you
@@Bamboule05 it is a one way visit, just going down.
Muito Obrigado bom video
Por nada!
Hello Tony! Thanks for all the wonderful details in your excellent videos. Do you know if UBER or BOLT will transport me from my Lisbon hotel directly to the PENA Palace gate?
Thank you! They will indeed, but check the price beforehand.
Please consider making ASMR videos. Your accent and that microphone are great.
That's unlikely but thank you for your words!
18:37 Thank you for the video. We are visiting at the end of September. Will we have enough time to see Pena Park, Pena Palace, Morris Castle and Quinta Regaleira in a day trip from Lisbon.
You should be able to do that, as we show on the video.
Great shots, gives me a good sense of elevation, distances and all the beautiful things in this town. Do you have any recommendations on the tourist train « Comboio de sintra, Circuito da Pena ». Not sure if one can hop on and off or if it’s just a circuit.
Thank you! From what I've seen, it's a circuit.
Faye
CANADA
Question:
From MOORISH to Centre for lunch can you easily walk or have to take bus/tuk tuk?
Then from centre is it a flat walk to QUINTA? and how long is walk if we have lunch in the centre?
Faye
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@@fayegee9894 From the entrance of Pena Palace to the entrance of the Moorish Castle is a fifteen minute walk, maximum. The walk from Moorish to the centre will take quite a lot of time and it's very steep going down. Take a Bolt/Uber. The walk from the centre to the Quinta is flat. Fifteen minutes maximum.
Thanks!
That's very kind of you, Laurence.

@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thank you!
For a relaxed visit 3 hotel nights would be the perfect choice. All the best!
Hello, the Civitatis ticket includes the interior of the palace and the gardens, too. There should be no extra fee. All the best!
I wish I had seen this prior to visiting Sinatra. We were victims of the bus scam and wasted a lot of time. Amazing place but we didn’t see enough of it.
What a shame the bus scam continues unaltered. Hope you had a great time anyway.
hi, Tony, great videos, thank you so much! tomorrow we are travelling to Sintra from Cascais by car.
Hi Amber, if you could reach the Palacio da Pena before 10am, that would be ideal. You would probably have to leave Lisbon at around 8am.
Lovely and helpful! Is the well at your afternoon site the inspiration for the structure in El ministerio del tiempo?
Hi Tony, we are a group of 12, do you recommend us to go Sintra on our own or join a local tour? Do you have any recommendations, thank you so much.
We haven't got any experience of leading groups, but are aware of the challenges involved. If you could find a local operator offering the trip for you, it might be a good idea. Otherwise, you can always try it on your own following our advice. Transport in Sintra will be the biggest challenge.
Great video..thanks for the tips. Any advice for getting to Ursa Beach from Sintra at the end of the day?
No advice, sorry, we haven't gone to Ursa Beach.
I know that it depends on how much time I want to spend on each, but I'm doing a day trip and I don't want to miss any part of the attraction because I spend too much time in one of them. How long did you stay on each attraction? Thanks again
We've just answered a similar question... No, one hour is nowhere near enough. Two hours or more.
very helpful ! Question,,,if we were to go to Sintra by car from Lisbon, is it difficult to find parking? I get mixed information...Thank you...i know it would be better bt train, but we have use of a car so just wondering.
Hi, parking in Sintra is definitely an issue. You might spend part of your day trying to find a parking space.
Gracias!!
Hi Liz, you would have to buy a more expensive 24-hour card that includes the train. It costs 10,80€.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Gracias Tony!

Hi Tony, we would try a Bolt or a Uber car. All the best!
Estimado Tony, si tenemos solo 24 horas en Lisboa, qué nos recomienda hacer? Conocer Lisboa o visitar Sintra?
Hola, en 24 horas no vais a conocer Lisboa, pero si podéis intentarlo con Sintra.
