Purchase the Nissan Frontier. I just dumped my Tacoma TRD PRO. Couldn't be happier.
Just got a new taco as rental and I missing my new frontier, I am surprised how much I miss my new frontier
Chevy Colorado ZR2 without Bison package, is a great value for what you get. Much cheaper than a Toyota TRD Pro.
Yup. See there on sale around town for 48k and front and rear lockers. What a steal
I just test drove one. Very surprised with the get up and go torque. Solid value for sure!
I wouldn’t say a mid size pickup sitting around 65k is a great value at all. I drive a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and those trucks sit around 70. Way over priced. You could get a Zr2 bison last gen for 48k back in 21 and Rubicons you could get around 50k. These trucks have gone out of control on prices.

@@rjejames28 Basic ZR2 im guessing you didnt read my comment. Andre was saying a Bison with the Raptor are great buys. You be hard press to find a Raptor at sticker price and all the dealerships i have gone to are marking up atleast 10k one dealership marked it up by 15k.

I bought the Nissan Frontier. It doesn't have all the gimmicks and I really don't care about the options they add to them to inflate the price. I bought an SV 4x4 crew long bed and I have a picture of the gas mileage to prove I got 29.6 mpg at 70 miles an hour. That might be the best gas mileage of any of them. I don't off road so I don't have to worry about breaking anything. I bought the 4x4 so that when we do have snow here in Tennessee I can go with a certain degree of safety and reliability. I am a practical guy.
I am looking at them right now, same truck SV 4x4 long bed. I am a simple man and want what the Frontier offers with normally aspirated engine and hydraulic steering. They need to market this truck more to take sales away from the others. Best of luck with it. The dealers seem to have started discounting them too, which is a good thing.
I used to be a Frontier guy, I had an 01 that was a little underpowered, but I liked it and it was reliable until my little camper + Monteagle got the head gasket one hot day. Now I’m towing heavy for work. I hope Nissan is still a good choice when I don’t need a big truck anymore.
You didn't get 29. Maybe 26 if you're coasting. I know that isn't hand calculated either.
The real market segment value is the Colorado ZR2.
Just went with the 24 Canyon AT4, very pleased with it!

I’ve owned my Colorado Trail Boss for a year and only have 3800 miles on it! I also payed 41k but have cruise control, damped tailgate with storage in TG ,sliding rear glass with defrost unlike Andreas!
I'd keep my 17K and go with the trail boss all day long in fact I just bought one for 41K cruise control back open window bedliner leather seats.
Is it leather or evotec? They don't offer leather from the dealer.
@@elche1976 It's called evotech leather. I wanted vinyl like to work truck but all they had available was fabric or evotech leather.
@4vinylsound now do you like the texture of it? Do you see it enduring will over time.... better than other leathers or faux leather options?

A comparison between the raptor ranger & a zr2 would be a more level playing field in my opinion or maybe even an aev zr2 to compare to ranger raptor
One is 60K the other is 40K - of course the Raptor has all the bells and whistles but the value proposition is the Trail Boss.
In between a Canyon AT4X and a Ranger Raptor. Leaning towards the Canyon personally for the looks/interior and more rock crawling based and Baja driving
You're talking about two totally different things... The raptor will smash the GMC on Baja running

I choose the Colorado zr2 over the canyon at4x. I did not want yo spend 5 grand more for the canyon at4x just to get gmc badging and fancier interior.
@@harolddenton6031 to each his own, I'm glad they make both so they make whatever style you like👍 & I think you mean the AT4 because the AT4X has all the skid plates, bumpers & 🪨 rails like the ZR2 🦬... I'm a Tacoma guy myself but I'm just not a fan of the new 🛻. I got the 3rd gen '22 TRD off-road Tacoma with 32" 🛞 & to be honest that 🛻 does anything I needed to do, I've gone thru some gnarly stuff in the 🛻 does a very good job. I'm sure your guys's newer 🛻💨 are a little better on & off 🛣️ but this Tacoma holds its own. Mine is manual transmission also 😉... I'd get a new Ranger if i bought 🆕 V-6 2.7L XLT FX4 📦
The rear facing car seat fits very well in my 2024 Ranger. When I test drove a 2024 Tacoma with the car seat, there was very limited space in the front seat...ending up being a large factor in deciding on a truck.
My advice would be to test drive. None of the dealerships gave me any problems about putting in the car seat for the test drive.
Colorado zr2 is the best hands down!!
I agree. The Ranger Raptor is a good deal at the high end against the Bison edition, but the standard ZR2 is the best ultimate offroader for the dollar. It starts at 47k and you see many well equipped ones around 50-52k.
A base ZR2 would only cost about 6k more than Andre's Trail Boss.

Wrong the Colorado/gmc only comes with 5 ft bed lol do some research smh. Nissan you can get a 6ft and new tacoma too.

Andre piqued my interest in midsize trucks. I replaced my ‘16 RAM Rebel with a ‘24 ZR2.
DO NOT BUY any vehicles until the industry bottoms out or crashes. Don't spend a single penny.
MSRPs are never coming down but when dealers aren't selling enough inventory then at least they will offer discounts
The industry will never crash. Remember 2008 car manufacturer bailouts footed by the tax payer.
@@RossMalagarie that discount is bland + interest rates. This is how ppl keep themselves poor. MSRPs will go down if the masses act in sync. Simple economics of S&D since beginning of time. Even w inflationary obstacles.

I have a feeling at some point they’re going to do another cash for clunkers and a better deal if you go electric. Keep the videos coming TFL crew.
After watching almost all of the videos on these trucks from the last year or so, I ended up getting a 2024 Colorado WT trim w/4wd two weeks ago. I just needed a tow/hauler around town and for the occasional off road trail. It sucks that it was still almost 40k out the door, but the Colorado base trim is nothing to scoff at with the packages i got, and the turbomax engine is more than confident moving the truck. I garage keep my vehicles and I keep my truck next to my daily (Lexus ES hybrid) so perfect use case for these midsizes.
Great news about Andre's bukhanka. After he and David did a video a couple weeks ago talking about the possibility, I was hoping they would go ahead with the swap. Should be a fun video series. It is amazing to see some of the things David has built. Looking forward ti it.
Good choice Andre. I knew when you went from the F-150 to the Colorado that you would miss having a bigger truck. Once you go big it is hard to downsize.
@TFLtalk: I currently drive a 2008 F-150 as a daily driver but am currently looking at midsize segment. Wife and I checked them out. She liked the Canyon AT4 best (MSRP $49,995) while I prefer the SV Crew Cab 4x4 long bed (MSRP $43,815) as I want the normally aspirated engine and hydraulic steering. She prefers the tech, digital screens, auto 4WD, and more leg room in 2nd row. What say you?

General rule of thumb: obey the wife. But, you could go SV and buy wifey something really nice with the money saved. I too prefer no-turbo and hydraulic steering.

Andre, you can hold the button in for several seconds without the brake pedal depressed and the accessories will turn on without cranking the engine.
Andrea's reaction to the bullet casing gave a window into the fear Russians feel when they break laws.
Pick up trucks sold in America are so cheap for what they, the equivalent Ford exported to the UK then converted are around £120,000 a dealer in London called Clive Sutton converts them & also Mustangs models not sold in Europe. Problem is they look Huge on our roads , only last week I was looking at 2017 Toyota Tundra 5.7 & the size it took 4 parking bays as it filled over 1 in length and we'll over 1 width and came up to my shoulders. Still would love an F150.
Ford is facing another worker strike but now with managers, and that may be a problem in terms of which one to buy. I secured the 3rd allocation for a ranger raptor due to be built in july from my local dealership at msrp. Now I'm concerned about not only getting the truck, but getting the truck the way it should be in terms of QC. Not a good feeling.
What, absolute bargains?!? You guys don't live in reality. Privileged lives for sure. Andre's truck was not as unrealistic as the ford.
Which one to buy the one I bought 26 years ago and is still running strong to this day !!! 1999 Dodge Dakota 5.2l Club Cab 5-speed with 235,000 miles. I paid $19,985 for it brand new !!!

They all get the same gas mileage as a full size truck
I owned a Ranger Raptor. Did not drive like a maniac.I 2:41 averaged 16 MPG
I know its a first year truck to America, but the build quality was not the best for 6OK
It's worse. My zr2 with the duramax averages around 21 mpg.
Build quality must be a US thing.. Australian Ranger Raptor build quality is excellent
I have the 3.0 V6 diesel in my Ranger Limited (Brazil), it gets 23 mpg and has 250 hp and 440 lb.ft
Raptor side step won't rust - they're aluminum - so you're safe!

Andre - 4Auto in all conditions on road, or 4Auto only in bad conditions (like rainy, muddy, snowy, etc). I have a 2017 colorado and was told don't do 4 Auto unless bad conditions

Waiting/saving to get the wife a 22 Pathfinder Platinum..then I see 2013 BMW Aplinas for 12k..so hard to not pull the trigger on some of these used car deals lol

Curious as to why Andre is going back to full size truck? I am crazy bout the Trail Boss and I am the same size 6' 3" - hoping to get an incentivized July 4th bargain. BTW: TFL, any truth to the rumor of a 2025 Durango Pickup truck?
Andre get the HRO. There are a couple of places giving 10 k discounts.
Both are very capable trucks. Love that they both offer more value then the Toyota. Both are a better option then the new Toyota. Nice video, lets see more off road adventures with them, please.
I have the 2024 Ford Ranger FX4 and my Only complaint is just as you had mentioned. The Screen Sometimes wont come on for several minutes. Iv refreshed it, re booted it... doesnt matter... it will work Most of the time, but certainly has its moments. Same with the Android Auto wireless hook up... very Finicky !
I have the same issue, and car play sometimes connects but no Audio so I have to disconnect and reconnect to make it work. Besides that the raptor is a blast, I’m still getting used to driving a truck after more than 20 years of not having a truck

Just wondering how reliable is the chevy turbo max engine. My local chevy dealer are doing great deals but I'm just scared to pull the trigger.
Honestly I’m skeptical aswell. My son wants a Chevy Colorado trail boss and our local dealership is giving my son a huge discount for 37k for a 2024 trail boss. It seems to good to be true but I really love the looks of the Colorado
I think these engines have been out about 5 years. Reliability seems to be pretty good on them. I've had mine for 2 years and absolutely no issues.

The engine has been used in the silverado since 2019. I have a 23 colorado z71 and have had no problems with it. Absolutely love the truck.

The mid-size trucks costs as much as full size now. Was looking into upgrading my tacoma to a trailhunter or ranger raptor, but fudge that. Im going full size truck. Looking into the 2025 RHO
I'm guessing Andre might end up with a GMC or Chevy 1500 Duramax straight 6 once he goes full size I could be wrong but I could see it happening
For that type of mpg i rather just go with a full size truck

I think the Ranger Raptor gets better fuel economy because it runs premium fuel. If you tuned the L3B for 93/91 it probably would get better fuel economy.

The L3B is the more economical engine because yes it gets 1-2 less MPG but it is also nearly a dollar cheaper per gallon.

Trail boss is not top line. ZR2 Bison is
But Trail Boss looks tougher and is about $15K less than the overpriced poser ZR2.

Them taking 5 months to fix your truck is a tragedy. That's not a thing I'd knock gm for, part failures happen. But I would 100% blame the dealership techs. Any real tech knows you check power first then connections. You should've been in and out the same day with a working truck.
I have a 21 Tacoma, if I needed a new truck now, I’d go drive a new Frontier first. Too many issues with the other 3 turbo options. Ford- some of their 10sp trans shift badly & they have plastic oil & trans pans & plastic oil drain plug, plus a lot of recalls. GM twins have an iffy 8sp trans with known issues. Toyota having driveline & trans problems. 😑
I researched and drove them all. Frontier all the way. No regrets.

Raptor over all of them really. They have proven global reliability and the whole chassis is over built to take the pounding. You'll never need another truck.
Nissan Frontier all. Day. Long. The others are an experiment to see how many idiots will spend $700/month on their inflated egos for an overpriced, underbuilt, 4-banger with big fender flares. The Frontier is the only solid and reliable midsize truck that still looks like a truck and not a mall cruiser and not with a fragile turbocharged engine.
