I think there are many things about human body and school cannot teach us ‘everything’ so I guess it’s okay to educate ourselves. Moreover, it’s selective and I think I would forget what they teach before I face it lol

Uhm it depends on your education wether you learn about this or not. If you dont learn this at your school, then you should self educate yourself about this through various sources.

As a final year medical student, I’ve delivered quite a few babies via normal vaginal delivery, but sometimes you sort of feel it ends there after the delivery. But I’m so so glad you spoke about the postpartum period. It’s something I feel doesn’t get enough attention, not even from health professionals and has such an impact on the mothers, which at the end of the day are our main concern. You’ve just highlighted how important it is to speak about women’s health and reproductive health. Thank you! ❤️

Can I ask you something Limay? You might know since you are medical student. I’m 37 weeks pregnant. I lost my sense of smell and taste at 28 weeks. I tested positive for COVID on July 7th. Negative on July 21st. Negative on august 7th. Negative august 24. Still no taste and smell. 😥😥😥😥 i been congested since 28 weeks as well , the day when I woke up with. I smell and taste. Is this the aftermath of COVID. Or is it a pregnancy symptom like the hormones ??? I’m so depressed. :( PLEASE RESPOND.

@@moonlightq5728 Hey there! The evidence at this point on symptoms that are ongoing after one has recovered from COVID aren't fully established, but the loss of smell and taste (known as anosmia and ageusia) seems to be very common. It ranges from person to person, but some people have reported up to 6 months post covid with residual symptoms. I'm sorry to hear you're still suffering from it, I can imagine it's a horrible thing to be experiencing. Congestion on the other hand may cause temporary loss of smell, but it seems that your's has been of a much longer nature, pointing more towards having had COVID being the issue. It's still definitely being looked at and the exact mechanism of how and why COVID effects taste and smell aren't fully understood yet. I hope this was somewhat helpful. All the best with the last stretch of your pregnancy, I hope all the best for you and your baby!

@@moonlightq5728 My aunt had something similar lost smell and taste for over a month after testing positive. It came back for her so maybe for you because you are pregnant its taking longer since your body is under so much pressure carrying a baby. The healing might take a bit longer. Hope you feel better soon ..... everyones body heals differently. I know being unhealthy takes a huge toll on your mental health as well. I hope you feel better asap.

As a prior out of hospital midwifey student, i can say it does NOT get acknowledged at all in western medicine. The medical system is a complete failure to women when it comes to postpartum, its not discussed at all. In the education I get in midwifery we learn all about this and educate the mom during her pregnancy about postpartum and what to expect. THats why women make these videos. We shouldnt feel shy or think " TMI" casue its not this is normal. WHen women arent educated it causes more stress postpartum when they are not sure what is happening with their bodies.
I thank you for acknowledging it, hopefully you can be the change in how women are cared for as far as after the baby comes/

And discrimination for breastfeeding openly in public. That has to stop because when a woman needs to feed her baby, she just have to do it even if she’s not covering up. Her breasts are for her babies to get milk, not for people to look at it with a dirty mind. If want to look, should at least give some encouraging words to the ladies and not discriminate her for not behaving decently. And for married man, pls don’t look at other women’s breast. You have your wife’s breast for enjoyment and it’s more than enough.

Every women loses her dignity when she spreads open her legs to offer her vagina to a man so it’s important that only the best man can penetrate the most intimate part of your body.

YES! I was with the father of my children for almost 6 years(lived with for 5) before we had our first child. We've been together for 17yrs now & I think if more people took the time to get to know their partners BEFORE having children, we'd have a lot more happy families. Don't get me wrong it hasn't been a walk in the park, but I KNOW he has my children's back(&mine), & he knows I will always have his! I feel like I really didn't even fully know him until year 5! We have the same values, he provides for us, & most important... We BOTH LOVE TO EAT(that's what most of our vacations are centered around) 🤣. No really though people need to spend more time getting to know eachother!

Some people think motherhood or giving birth is like nothing cause everyone does It and romantized and we never heard about the shitty side of it, but is not like that, It changes your life drastically, you are no longer the star on your own freaking life, but we don't heard about this a lot because for mothers it's not socially allowed to talk about It, so I really love this type of videos cause it's not just pink, shit can get dark but as a mother having a baby is the one thing you "can't" regret.

Just wanna share my birth experience Karen. In my country, the govt hospital would not offer any painkillers or epidural as they encourage birth as natural as possible. So I was in pain the whole time before my contraction really kicked in and they had to induce me because my water already broke for 24 hours but my cervical opening was still quite small. Within 3 hours after induction I delivered my baby Elijah. The moment I heard him cry and out of my tummy was the happiest day of my life. I didnt cry because I was too tired and I really slept right after birth but 5 hours later the nurse woke me up and put my baby beside me. Oh my God my tears were flowing like waterfall. Tiny miracle and I instantly fell in love!
But postpartum journey like you said..it was not talked much even by our mothers or sisters! I was really not expecting many thing during postpartum stage. So my postpartum journey was a heck of painful and sore one because my perineal tear was quite long. Once again, I was not given any pain medication and I dreaddd every single toilet visit especially going for poopoo. My tear was only totally healed on the 6th week postpartum. Breastfeeding was also exhausting for the first time mom like me. I didnt have alot of milk coming in the first 2 weeks but I encouraged active direct latching so now my milk supply is pretty good. Hunger kicks in all the time and I think I munch onto things like every hour. But now I get the hang of it and I truly and really appreciate all these moment and now I feel like I want another baby again lol! But minus the pain please >.

Oh my goodness. I Didn’t want the epidural at all, but I had to have a epidural as I was stuck with him in the “ring of fire” stage. They had given me Remi fentanyl but it wasn’t working it was sending me to sleep so they basically shoved gas and air in my face told me I was having an epidural or I would have had to have an emergency Caesarean. The adrenaline thing that they gave me to keep me awake worked fine but the epidural didn’t actually work at all so I was now just very awake and in a hell of a lot of pain. They really don’t tell you how wrong it can go, I did have a 2nd° tear but I tore it both front and back and I lost over a litre of blood. My poor partner!
They gave me no pain meds after the birth, and even during my stitches ( which was hell).
But my Elijah was born on the 30th of dec 2021, and once I held him….. I totally forgot the pain and was saying to his dad that we need to make sure he has siblings. He looked very pale and said “really?! Are you sure?”
I think it was more trauma for him than me lol
But postpartum, I’m finding it harder than birth ngl.

The truth is our bodies were made for all this, and it knows what it's doing. It's about not over thinking it, and trying to control everything. It's like, the mind can make things much worse than they need to be. Loved your video!!! Usually it doesn’t hurt to go pee after baby, but the area can be swollen and make it hard to pee after baby comes out. Also you need to pee so your uterus can contract! If your bladder is full of pee it pushes your uterus at a weird angle and makes it hard for it to contract which can be dangerous as contracting helps with the bleeding so you don’t bleed out ❤️

I understand and I told my best friends the Light Version of my post-partum... And what was left was 1 friend without kid, and the rest was "ew, you made myself not wanting kids anymore"...
I felt so devastated because I really tried my best not telling all Details (they asked!!! and expected some positive perfect birth answers?) and I found some Info very important... But I also learned that I did basically nothing wrong, I just had the wrong friends.
I think us women just do not know enough, Sex education should be better... Because when you are pregnant you can get scared about what stories your own mom or aunt brings out. They all told me "I did not want to tell you, because I feared you do not want to have kids anymore"
... We women are so strong and we become even stronger afterwards. So I want to share the message, we are mentally able to overcome these things! :)

It IS terrifying!!! You have the pregnancy to deal with, the weight gain, possible gestational diabetes (which may stay with you after), your body will never be the same, widening hips, swollen ankles and feet, etc. I have never been pregnant just for these reasons. Also, I feel I would not have been a good parent, because I would have had to sell my horse before the baby came. My ex in laws would have seen to that, and I would have been resentful. Not only that, I understand that you bleed for SIX WEEKS after the birth. I would not have been able to deal with that crap. My ex didn't want kids either, and at age 31 I was sterilized, and my horse was safe. (Jan Griffiths).

But what I actually wanted to say: It wasn't as painful as the C section, BUT it was way worse in another way .... I don't get it - why is everybody saying "YOU'LL FORGET ALL THE PAIN IF YOU SEE YOUR BABY"? - HAHAHA SHIT! They are all lying at us! The problems actually starting then ^^

Just bumped into this video and it's actually so nice to finally hear someone talking about postpartum so freely. I gave birth over 2 weeks ago and am still struggling with the pain - but it does get easier 🙏 I was in total shock the day following the delivery tho, as I wasn't expecting so much pain and had never really heard about it, and I didn't know what was happening to my body. It's a good thing to talk about it so the mums-to-be can get ready for it (like we'd get ready for all the other steps of the pregnancy).
