Chester's 17 second scream is legendary and will not be beaten. He was one of a kind
In all fairness, Maria Brink's 25 second scream The Purge is pretty epic. Still, Chester was amazing. RIP
how about maynard's in the Grudge
Was about to say Maynard hots a 30 seconds scream in grudge
@@karlbecker8775nobody compares to Chester
Love Chester but Maynard from Tool has him beat on " the grudge" in my opinion
A lot of us elder millennials only survived our teens because of listening to Chester pour his heart out on repeat for hours.
Indeed
Hybrid theory on repeat for prob my entire middle school years haha
Can confirm.
💯
Только LP и спасли, потом пустота 😢😢
The craziest thing about that scream: Chester could do it live, and it was even crazier live than the studio version
Also totally improvised. When Chester was recording the vocals for this song he didn't know how long to hold that note so held it for 17 seconds. Mike then said we are not touching that and they had to rearrange they rest of the song to keep it.
While the he did do it live and it was still incredible he did it in two breaths live. Difference in being on stage vs being able to stay still in a studio
Much crazier live. Core moment in my life happened when I saw him do it in 2007.
@@Jezza24681 theres actually some live performances that he do it full, just look at given up live at aol sessions. I already saw other time he did that live, but i don't remember
@@Jezza24681ele ja fez ao vivo sem respirar também, 17 segundos inteiros, tem aqui no UA-cam, só pesquisar given up 17 sec scream live
I never get tired of seeing people react to this song and that 17 second scream. One of the best songs to exhibit Chester's crazy vocal control. As some other fans have said, picking a "favorite" song is near impossible, but if I had to point to a few to recommend, I'd say Breaking the Habit, Castle of Glass, Catalyst, When They Come for Me, and Leave Out All the Rest.
From the inside também é muito boa
Oh man, the reactions are always great. First people are jamming, head nodding with the beat. You can see them feeling the song. Then the eyes start to widen O.O as the scream goes on and on. They slowly stop jamming and everyone just goes slack jawed and they all just have to take a minute to truly come to terms with the amazingness of the scream and the realization that this song really came from deep inside and you feel both sad and awed at the same time. It's very powerful.
Leave out all the rest, in retrospect, is extremely sad to listen to imo
One of the greatest songs on the minutes to midnight album R.I.P. Chester🙏😢🕊️
"No more sorrow' was just as good
The greatest part of any reaction to this song is the moment that people start jamming to the breakdown them just stop and stare about 10 seconds through that 17 second scream. Another great reaction!!!
I've heard this song two hundred times and my body has broken out in chills every time he hits that scream.
Faint is the song that I hold nearest. The words that are sung hit so near to me. It’s a mix of Mike and Chester.
I’ve been a massive LP for years, loving every step they’ve taken, including Fort Minor and everything Mike able to accomplish with it. But let me tell you, Faint has and forever will be my favorite track that LP has ever released. There’s a certain beautiful and almost methodical balance between rap, rock, screamo, nu-metal, and electronica that they built in that track that is absolute perfection.
Papercut is the one for me, Faint is great (even cooler mashed up with Slipknot's Psychosocial, but Papercut takes the top spot forever.
3:51 is the best moment of the video where your face shows you realizing he is STILL holding that scream and it just keeps going.
My personal favorite LP song is In The End, mostly just because that was the first of their songs I'd heard and it stayed with me.
Chester literally screaming for help , so powerful...Always wondered how this little dude produces that much sound...Amazing...
If you really want to see Chester's range, listen to From The Inside and QWERTY, the way he switches from screaming to singing is godly
I think I like the stage version overseas of QWERTY then then 1 they put on the album. I was fine with riffs and beats..lol
The scream will forever be iconic. But, the way he is able to go back to hitting that note without struggle on the "up"
Yeah it may not be the longest but it's still ridiculous. 18 seconds screaming like that is crazy.
He had the voice of an angel and the scream of a demon!!!! RIP Chester I hope that your soul finally found peace!!!! Gone way to soon but never forgotten!!!!
He was not screaming like a demon. More like Devil himself.
The fact that he screams for 17 seconds then goes right back to singing without taking a break takes talent like no other singer I have ever heard. So many emotional songs from Linkin Park. I would suggest my favorite from them, "One More Light."
Having seen LP live for the first time in 2007.... Can confirm the scream is longer and vastly more impactful live. I'll never forget that show.
I think something that a lot of people overlook is that not only does he nail the 17 second scream, but he still has gas in the tank to hit the next scream! Truly lost the best, but his memory will live forever as a legend. Sung like and angel and screamed like a demon, love you Chester, you saved my life.
I am addicted to linkin park and I am so proud to be a linkin park soldier. Linkin park has always been my favorite rock band of the 2000's. This reaction video of linkin park's given up is awesome and amazing and insanely good. Best reaction video of all time right here.
The lyrics to this song were written in 2005/2006 when Chester was having a really bad problems after his divorce from his first wife. This song was released 10 years before he death.
He has been the full 17 second scream live several times. The first one that comes my mind first is Given Up AOL sessions.
If you want to hear Chester scream a lot live then watch Faint Rock AM Ring 2007 or A Place for my Head live in Texas.
Subbed after watching your energy, love how you FEEL the music, keep it up!
I love your smiles and expressions when the song is hitting that spot in your brain and you’re enjoying it
Always love getting random videos of people listening to this song for the first time. I was too amazed at the 17-second scream even when I was younger, and hearing that for the first time blew my mind. I've seen someone else say it, but listen to the live version of Qwerty. The way Chester switches from screaming to singing is outstanding.
Great reaction. The look on your face when he was holding that note was priceless.
So glad you reacted to this
One of my most favorites! Goosebumps, easily all day long. RIP Chester. Thank you for your excellent vocal talents.
Yes! My wife and I just clicked on your video and heard Ryan caraveo as your intro music, good to see another Ryan fan
ALMOST 100k KEEP IT UP
I love all the songs of this group, there are so many emotions ,so many songs that get into the soul, all their songs are a separate form of art, be sure to listen
Never seen your channel before, but you're closing in on 100k subs so the best of luck girl!! :)
Awesome reaction! I'd say Easier to run, A place for my head and lying from you are all great heavy and emotional songs from them
"Halfway Right" and "One More Light" are two fantastic, heartbreaking songs by Linkin Park. It's off the album, One More Light, which they wrote shortly after a close friend committed suicide
This comment comes with a warning- you'll probably cry. I still can't listen to those songs
Not sure if it's true but I heard that "One More Light" was a cover. They did a live performance of it on Jimmy Kimmel and Chester breaks down at the end due to the fact that the close friend was Chris Cornell of Soundgarden/Audioslave/Temple of the Dogg, Chester looked up to Chris like an elder brother.
RIP Chester & Chris - 2 incredible singers, performers and frontmen
Thank you for this , truly
I get goose bumps every time I hear this song. Lost in the echo is amazing to
i love this song, Linkin Park was the first rock band i heard ever, Chester was like a friend i never meet, his voice really bring me so much joy and motivation.... when chester was alive i used to listen it and feel really motivated.
Now i heard it and i just cry, only thing i can hear is Chester screaming for help and telling the world how much pain he is suffering to a point he just cant anymore.
I feel like that, like him, and i myself im fighting to stay here, only thing still makes me continue is that i dont want the people i love to feel like i feel when i think about my favorite persons who have leave this world by their own hand.
Yo first I gotta say R.I.P Chester he was a legend and will not be forgotten my fav linkin park song is Burn it Down give it a listen its awesome
Love to see another one experience this scream for the first time! And how he hits the note dead on after. Chester, we miss you.
Minutes to Midnight holds a special place to me since Chester came up with the name for the album inspired by the doomsday clock and he also came up with the name Linkin Park since they had to change their name from Hybrid Theory to avoid confusion with a band at the time called Hybrid.
i like how she breaks down bits of what they say in every one of her reactions!!
Watching someone smile when they hear Chesters singing, brings me a smile t
Faint, Papercut, Hit the floor, What I've done, In the end, From the inside, Crawling... Take your pick! I've been a fan of Linkin Park since their first album, lucky enough to see them 3 times in the UK.
I recommend just listen to each ablum in release order, all of them are epic. My favourite album is probably Meteora. Welcome to the LP fanbase ✌
When I had this song on my iPod, I say there and counted the scream. 17 seconds. He could do it easily live, too. Just incredible.
What an insane scream at the end of the breakdown 😂😂 oh man, i love that guy so much ! This song is amazing, i can feel the whole thing in my bone. ❤
At the monent my fav LP songs are "The Little Things Give You Away" "The Catalyst" and "Iridescent". But it's too difficult to pick one they are all toooo good.
The scream is big... but the whole track - Chester hit this like someone lit him on fire. Massive performance.
The 17 second scream can never be beaten. Chester was a angel when he sang and a demon when he screamed .he was so special ❤
I love your reaction to this. You headbanging and you relating to the song. This song haa got me through some of the worst times.
Your an amazing reacto Lilly! May you find peace Chester🖤
You asked my favorite Linkin park song and i can say i can't pick a song however an album i can do, where it began for me hybrid threoy, meteora later on minutes to midnight, a thousand suns was alright. Hybrid threoy and meteora still holds up to this day
Congratulations! 🎉you just witnessed the legend fire scream for 17 seconds ❤️❤️he was so special ❤ he's the void that can't be filled 😔
It's so nice to see how excited you are...Chester is and will always be the Goat.❤
Absolutely great to see you do linkin park lilly. One of my all time favourite bands, Chester is truly legendary. Hope you do more reactions. Amazing video.
I love how everyone lol once they hit that 10-12 sec mark of that scream the headbanging stops and the eyes go wide and jaws drop. Every time
"A place for my head" is my favorite ❤
My all-time favorite band. It doesn't matter what you pick from their catalog, you can't go wrong. Some of my favorites are "Iridescent", "My December", "When They Come for Me", and their rare cover doing "Rolling In The Deep". Also, check out some of Mike's solo stuff since Chester's passing: "Open Door", "Happy Endings", "What the Words Meant", "In My Head"
Over again really hit me hard!!! Then watching the Hollywood bowl. When they played numb and the mic stand in the center with the spotlight on it and the crowd knew what to do and sing for chester. Chills
After this song! leave out all the rest, hits the heart 100x more!! ❤️
Love Chester and love your reactions. RIP Chester.
Absolute favorite reaction to this song.
Разве Честер не самый лучший вокалист нашей эпохи? Он гениальный. Он уникальный. Низкий поклон тебе милый Честер ❤
I ❤ your hair!
The reaction when he hits the scream is amazing. Every reaction of this song i see has the same. About halfway through people's faces just drop. Lol
I've heard this song legitimately over 100 times over the years and I know I can scream well-ish and sing with good technique but to this day I've never been able to do that 17 second scream even when in an angry/emotional state, dude was a legend vocally, I honestly don't believe anyone has ever replicated it in covers or anything, its genuinely a once in a lifetime take that no one will ever be able to replicate even 50 years from now
I love LP have done since early teens, first song I herd was "In the End" and loved the entire album. Felt so sad when he left us R.I.P Chester
In the end Live in Texas, by myself Texas, figure.09 Texas & A place For My Head live in Texas ARE A MUST NOW!!! 🔥🔥 RIP Chester helped me & millions through so much! 💜
That face. That face you made when you realized the length of the scream is my favorite thing to watch.
Given up is my favorite song, given up is full emotional !! I big fan Linkin Park from Jakarta,Indonesia
Papercut live in Texas was an amazing performance
Sings like and Angel , screams like a demon. RIP Chester . Btw check out Waiting for the end by Linkin Park . Probably their greatest song of all time !!!
2023 and there are still some linkin park songs I need to download. So fucking good.
Linkin park is the reason I’m still here these songs are so powerful and made me wake up rest well you fucking legend!
I've only ever seen one other singer be able to pull off that 17 second scream and that's Brad from Halocene. Even he wasn't sure he could do it and it did not sound as clean. So ya hail to Chester he was legendary.
Chester...damn we all miss him so much of a big part of my childhood and it was my first band I ever listen to like seriously grew up a hip hop head than first liking park song I heard was "In the end" and it went from there.
People always talk about the scream. But I love the vibrato he get's when he says "I hyperventilate"
Sorry but I just came across your first time hearing this song. I love your reactions to your first time hearing songs. My ex-girlfriend's brother recorded their albums. I had a chance to meet them in person and they were a riot LOL. Eyewitness firsthand Chester doing his scream and it was absolutely amazing. Anyone who is a true fan like I am would realize that none of their songs were ever happy or about great relationships they were all about digging and searching and finding themselves. It is so sad looking back and not seeing the signs of the pain he was actually going through. Growing up in Southern California I had a chance to meet and talk to a lot of musicians in my day. Most of us think because they have money and fame and all the things that go with it that they must be happy but obviously he was truly truly hurting so bad inside.
Lying From You is a personal fav
Favorite LP songs, "Crawling", "In The End", "Faint", "Numb", "Somewhere I Belong", "Easier To Run", "Lost", "Given Up", "Numb/Encore", "Points of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer", "One Step Closer", i better stop lol
One more light is such a good song.
Fit for a King - backbreaker 24sec scream. great song too
In the booklet that came with the CD, even though the song says, "I'm sick of feeling" the booklet lyrics say, "I'm sick of living".
You must watch
1:- numb
2:- in the end
3:- lost
4:- castle of glass
5:- waiting for the end to come
6:- what i have done
7:- I'll be gone
8:- lost in the echo
3:43 Watching you go through several stages of emotions at the 17 second scream was amazing. I could see you go
"Hell yeah!"
"Damn, still going!"
"Wtf, he's still going?"
*baffled confusion that this is possible*
Priceless
shocking the vid was blocked considering all other reaction channels this didn't happen, youtube sucks lol! Chester is a vocal beast and my fav musician ever! I miss hearing him belt it out! RIP Chester! Gone but never forgotten!
Thank you so much for doing this reaction! I've been suffering from depression for about 6 months now, and it hasn't gotten any easier. Except for when I'm listening to this song, it helps a little bit, but that's about it. Love your reactions so much. Could you please give a reaction to their song called "Leave Out All The Rest".
It used to be my favourite Linkin Park's song because Of the SCREAM
Great song choice, this song showcases Chester’s incredible screams and his emotional connection to his songs. RIP Chester😢❤️
Linkin Park RULES! ✌️
Linkin Park is the Realist band around. When I'm at my low that's who i turn to. I listen to them. And have hope. R.i.p Chester
this scream is a scream of is soul, screaming out all his pain ,hate and many more things....
Favorite: castle of glass. It's beautiful
The whole minutes to midnight album was fire. I went to the midnight release the night it came out at best buy, just to age myself a little
Will always love Linkin Park and we all miss Chester so very much. These days I listen to One Ok Rock for those emotional songs, although their style is usually less dark and more uplifting, but very emotional and relatable all the same. And their live performances are superb! You should check them out.
They helped me through some dark times and you can see why. RIP chester. Check out runaway by them it's amazing
Welcome to LP fan family Lilly.
You can feel every once of pain in every scream from this song!
My favorite Linkin Park song!!! I'm 55 years old.
5:39 It hits you soo hard to think all the amazing music he has done and all the music we lost...

Runaway is my absolute favorite from Linkin Park and would love to see what you think about it. Subbed
Qwerty is my all time favorite! Shows how much of a lyrical genius Chester was! Rip❤
If I had to pick only one LP song as my favourite it would be "Waiting for the end"

Its not only his 17 sec scream. Its his emotional advantage in their songs/live performances. Its on steroids
