You mean E.D cope? I think there is already some info on him i think some people calculated its weight and it's like 11.3 tons, he is such a massive rex and regular rexes are already really big with them being like almost 10 tons
I don't see why the Spino couldn't take the Rex in water, sure the Rex can swim, but Spino is obviously much better adapted for water, with jaws designed for grabbing and holding on. I imagine it could drown it, sort of like how a crocodile would take a lion. On land, rex would win most of the time. But It still would not be an easy win, and it's very possible it would die from wounds later on. The claws on the spino are like meat hooks, that could do serious damage.

People overestimate how useful arms are in therapod battles, even the biggest therapod arms are still tiny for their body, it not like they're gonna box with them, they had very limited movement. Plus why use claws when you have teeth? You're just gonna lose your arms.
Yeah, Why swipe claws when you got the strongest bite force on land. Anything you bite gets turned into a bloody pulp. This is why I love rex and megalodon.

As humans we are biased because our arms are our main means of fighting, we tend to overestimate the letality of animal arms while vastly underestimating the letality of their teeths (literally THE best way to kill, claws most often only do superficial damage) And I say that as an MMA fighter, no matter how hard I train my arms are useless against a predator with a good bite (outside of a choke, but you will never see a theropod do that). Bites kill, claws grab and dig, hands carry tools.
As a matter of fact, a study concluded that the spino could excert about 1t of force with their claws and shater every bone in its´arm on the process lol. Definetly not build for boxing. Evolution do not lie, Arms became irrelevant for theropods, therefore Abelisaurids and Tyranosaurids have shorter arms but stronger skulls and bites, even Charcharodontosaurids like Meraxes Gigas had smaller arms

Correction about the t-rex arm strength. It wasn't the entire arm that could lift 200kg. That was JUST the bicep muscle. The arm consisted of most of the same muscles you have in your arm. Your arm can lift much more than just the amount your bicep can curl. I have never seen a proper study on the strength of the entire arm of the t-rex, but just judging by the biomechanics of how an arm works, I would estimate that each entire arm could probably have lifted around 800 to 1,000kg and may have been capable of supporting, or holding onto, as much as 2,000kg.
T-rex is like the most buff and thick ass theropod out there. Literally hunts pray that are essentially war machine. While Spino is just suited for catching giant-ass fish and maybe good at swimming (Still pretty impressive nonetheless) but Its like Giga-chad vs an average gym guy. Although somewhat buff and maybe even taller but the t-rex is way too OP. I still like Spino tho it's so weird and bizarre. It is such an interesting dinosaur.
@@monsterzero521You underestimate Megistotherium, a lot of the Barinasuchus sizes online aren't that reliable and oversized for some reason. It's still large but I think Megistotherium wins.
Sometimes all it takes is common sense. If you can just go to the museum and look at the skeletal builds of these two animals, you can easily tell which one is more impressive. I’ve seen both animals and T. rex just looks larger, more robust, and scarier overall. I am convinced that people who say Spino would win are just little kids who have never seen these specimens in person and get their facts from fictional movies instead

@@tekhoverskiff5070you’re not being very scientific. There are 5 specimens, enough to create a very complete holotype for the spinosaurus. The only thing that’s uncertain now is the shape of the sail. Even if they manage to find a complete spino specimen, I doubt it’ll be larger than T. rex since the current 5 weigh less than 7 tons.
This is probably the best video on this topic to date. Many of the points and papers given were numerous, spot on, and a lot were shown that are probably not too known with the public. This is the first of these I’ve seen that gives Tyrannosaurus the win on land and in water, which is something groups of Paleontologists have agreed on recently thanks to the multiple analysis and work of Paul Sereno. An example of Paleontologists mostly supporting your word comes from the Formorphology crew from a 2022 stream hosted in winter, in which this team all agreed that Tyrannosaurus obliterates Spinosaurus on land and still has the edge in open water. While this was clearly a mostly educational video, I couldn’t help but find the beginning extremely humorous - having to actively restrain on using largest specimen vs largest specimen, because it’d be extremely obvious that Tyrannosaurus’ effortless 100% chance of killing Spinosaurus on land somehow transcends the ratio and turns into even more of a Godstomp - a beyond the concept of difficulty annihilation, if you will. On a different note, currently I am partaking in assistance on an expensive project about this topic (As well as other topics), with this project using dozens and dozens of papers for supporting claims, modeling, animation, and extra private insight from Paleontologists who are experts on Dinosaurian anatomy and physics that assisted. The project is delayed and on slow progress at the moment, but it’ll eventually step back up with more time, which this Paleontological insight will be revealed when this finishes. The project has a long way to go but I made this comment to assure you that this is the best video on this subject to date, with massive Paleontologists in the field supporting most of everything you elaborated upon, and I’d hope to see you in the comments when the project finishes - just be sure to give it a lot of time.
Before anyone panics, you have to remember: Spinosaurus was a glorified stork that still put up a hell of a fight against anything trying to push it around. Fighting was never its goal, but it handled itself well. T.rex was literally built for fighting. T.rex woke up each morning and chose violence. It was literally made for fighting. To choose peace was the equivalent of a human choosing donuts, pizza, and weed; as peaceful and happy as that lifestyle is, it poisons and kills us in the long run sadly. It isn’t fair to expect a giant fisherman to beat Tyson Fury or Mike Tyson in a boxing match. The latter two men literally fought for a living, while the former, big and strong as he is, would rather get back to fishing. Love and respect spinosaurus for what he was, and don’t bully him for what he wasn’t. Don’t throw shade at T.rex for being the biggest jerk ever. Nature made sure that peace was never an option for the big rex.

Great Video! As someone who is working on starting my own channel on dino stuff, I gotta root for the Giga. The Giga was the Ali of Therapods, built for speed and wounding jabs. The T-Rex was the Mike Tyson. If the Giga played it smart and used its speed, it could rip chunks off the Rex, but if the Rex gets one bite off, it's all over.

T.rex had a slower run speed, but in every other area, it far outclassed Giganotosaurus (strength, mass, intelligence, agility snd even experience; rex skulls are the only ones with evidence of combat against other large theropods, in this case being other rexes)
I find it funny that Jack Horner tried to use JP3 as a way to prop up his "Obligate Scavenger T. rex" hypothesis by having it eat a carcass and lose to the Spinosaurus, yet the T. rex in the movie still chases the humans like a predator despite the huge buffet it had with that dead dinosaur body.
I dont get the obsession with this duel. One (T-Rex) evolved to hunt Mega Fauna for every mean. Spinosaurus hunter fish. Which one is built to win this fight? You get 2 guesses and if you choose Spino, you are not thinking clearly.
I mean, 1) there are fish eaters alive nowadays that can pack up other carnivores pretty handily, so the argument should be based specifically on Spino's lower mass, stature, and bite force rather than their diet, and 2) people used to think, and a lot of people outside of the paleo community probably still think, Spinosaurus was a megahypercarnivore that preyed on pretty much the same things that T. rex did. No thanks to "documentaries" like Monsters Resurrected and initially movies like JP3. Hell, if you dig deep enough outside of the paleo community, I wouldn't be surprised if you found someone who thinks Spinosaurus _preyed on_ T. rex.

Personally, it's the JP3 Spino that usually came to mind when I was younger, even though that model is as outdated as a venom-spitting Dilophosaurus. The modern Pelican/Gharial Spinosaurus doesn't stand a chance against the living compactor that is Tyrannosaurus.
Jesus christ, this is terrifying. Evidence shows that a T-rex could literally decapitate a Triceratops. "It's gruesome, but the easiest way to do this was to pull the head off." 4:00 Imagine what it could do to a skinny Spinosaur skull. I bet a T-rex could literally bite the face right off of a Spinosaur, or bite it completely in half. If you don't think so, just look at both of their skulls not from the side, but head on. It looks like a pitbull's head vs a greyhound. And look at how much neck a Spinosaur has. How easy would that be to get to and bite clean through for a T-rex? Seems like the more that time passes and the more we learn, the more absolutely terrifying this tank of a killing machine is shown to have been in real life.
Amazing video. I would just like to add another point that is the t.rex has shown evidence of undergoing pachyosotosis in the skull region since Jack Horner had discovered a left front bone of t.rex which had shown to undergo pachyosotosis meaning it's skull and bone density would have probably been even thicker and denser than though before making it's skull as strong as a pachycepholosaurus.
Its really a silly question... T Rex was a bone crusher, a brawler. Spinosaurus was a gracile fish eater. Of the 2 only 1 was built to fight with other dinosaurs.
Big dinosaur fights aside, although there’s not enough evidence or research conducted on Spinosaurus’s intelligence, It’d be cool to think about that it could use “bait” to catch larger fish in shallow waters, like some Heron or water wading birds do.

About the 12 ton T Rex study, it must be noted that it was performed in the circumference of the femur of the specimen called Copium Rex, fitting name cause sed fanboys of other theropods to the cope zone. The femur circumference is one the most reliable indicators of a bigger animal given it shows how much weight actually could pack on the frame. Sue´s femur circumference is 580, scottys´is 590 and we know scotty was about 5% bigger than sue... Copium femur is 630!. Rather than asking our selves if it was bigger we should ask how much bigger it was. Also, 12 tons was the estimate weight but further analysis showed a maximu of 15 tons, this more than likely not been the case but is worth noting. 12 tones! Yeah, no theropod like spino or Giga where matching against the King
15 tons is too much especially for something like a t rex 12 is the max estimate for a t rex anything hire would significantly affect its hunting style and combat technique it will also be much slower and less stable because of its higher centre of gravity
Thing is the T Rex would adapt, there is no such thing as "limitation", though 15 is too much and 20 would be impossible, i wouldn't be surprised if a 15 Ton specimen eventually shows. Slower, heavier animals qould really on slower heavier prey... Maybe Ankys, regardless of how slow It could be Ankys are slower. Still, i'm not saying Cope was 15 tons, was more likely 12, but 12 is definetly not the limit, if It grows bigger then Life finds a way

All these people saying Giga and other therapods could take T Rex seem to ignore Rex's giant fucking thickass skull with unreal bite force that out matches any other therapod. Just one monch from a Rex would have devastating consequences. The Spino and Giga though close in size would have a hard time dealing with such an insane bite force and the general weight of the Rex. If you're 6 feet tall and 180 pounds it stands to reason a 5 foot 11 inch 220 pound person might have an advantage. The new Rex they are working on now is supposedly bigger than Sue or Scotty. Until more fossils of Giga are found T Rex is king. Even if bigger they cant compete with T Rex's jaws and fused skull.
Rex was built to brawl. It's lifestyle was centered around kicking the shit out of other large dinosaurs and fighting other rexes. Spino simply wouldn't stand any chance. Rex could tank quite a number of spinos bites and swipes and keep fighting like nothing, but the moment a rex gets it's jaws on the spino it's over.

With the Tyrannosaurus specimen BHI 6248 'E. D. COPE' being 13.13 meters and 11.5 - 12.458 tonnes with a bite force of over 5 metric tonnes (maybe over 6), Tyrannosaurus wins 100% of the time, easily as well.

And they're probably right about the %100 chance of victory against Spinosaurus too, even with the average Specimen at the 8-9 ton range it would still be impossible for Spinosaurus to win it's just that much of an unfair fight, now if we are talking about Carcharadontosaurus and Giganotosaurus it's a different story but even then T.Rex would have the upper hand on all aspects so even their chances on taking down a fully grown T.Rex would be pretty slim.

IDK why people still equate brain size to intelligence. There are a lot of animals that are the size of pebbles (jumping spiders for example) that are very intelligent and extremely effective and agile hunters. Also, octopus

Its the amount of wrinkles there are in the brain and the overall size of the head compared to the body that predicts intelligence. we don’t have fossil remains of the brain but we can look at head size in proportion to body size. octopus have a huge brain compared to their body size. same goes for humans, chimps, elephants, and other animals that are intelligent. trex is no exception, their heads are massive in proportion to its body so there’s a high likelihood that it’s an intelligent animal.

Quite literally. It was a hybrid and had T. rex DNA inside it, which increased its aggression towards rexes. Also it was the progenitor to what would become the Indominus project, a hybrid dinosaur built not just for combat, but for war.

I don't buy Spino being 7.7 tons. Most of the weight estimations used to get to that average must have come from older estimations which assumed a much deeper body shape, similar to t-rex and other theropods. However, spinosaurus had a more circular body shape, meaning it's chest and abdomen were much shallower, decreasing it's bulk by a lot. I would say that 7 tons is about as big as the spino actually got. A good average for an adult was probably around 5.5 tons.
@noelleosullivan3309 there are no paleontologists that "specialize" in one species or another. The best you can do is to have somebody who has done more work on one species than others have, but that's not the same thing. And i still don't buy it either way. The spinosaurus just wasn't that heavy bodied.
Actually if you research you'll know that a spinosaurus spine has Carcharodontosaurus bite in it. Spino could fend off but if we are talking about stakes battle, then Spino can give T-rex some injuries while T-rex can cripple it in 1 bite and sweet death.
Obviously a real T. rex would beat a real spinosaurus but you can just explain it by saying the spino was like part hybrid. I say it was part hybrid because the way they understood it’s biology would be far different than the actual dinosaur. As such the scientists made it the way they thought it was built. With the characteristics given to it, it would be more of a hybrid than a clone because of how inaccurate it is. With these changes however I could say how this hypothetical spinosaurus could kill t-rex in real life. I mean it was very intelligent for an animal, bigger than the t-rex (bulk,length,height,), it had long arms with sharp claws and a long neck. Not only that it was very flexible and clearly had very strong crocodile-like scales. Even if its bite force was weaker, it wouldn’t matter with all of these advantages. I don’t see why people are so upset over the spino beating the T. rex because they scientists clearly made it very differently than our modern understanding so I think it makes sense how it could beat a T. rex. Honestly from this perspective it makes the spinosaurus so much more interesting as it is almost an entirely different dinosaur and as such likely had a lot of gaps in the dna meaning it was largely a hybrid designed specifically to mimic what they thought it looked like.
Or you could explain it by saying we knew next to nothing about Spinosaurus in 2001, and Jack Horner's scavenger hypothesis made it seem more badass than the T.rex to the filmmakers. If it was a hybrid, then how did Alan Grant almost immediately recognize it as a Spinosaurus, while the kid from Jurassic World immediately knew the Indominus rex, a hybrid, wasn't a real dinosaur?

Arbour & Jordan Mallon in 2017, after finding better material & redescribed the genus. The estimates now have the smallest specimen ( AMNH 5214 ) at 4.78 metric tons ( 5.27 short tons ); and the largest specimen ( CMN 8880 ) at 7.95 metric tons ( 8.76 short tons) The agreed body length is 8 meters ( 26 feet ) in length. Their article for the size estimates is this; “ Unusual cranial and postcranial anatomy in the archetypal ankylosaur Ankylosaurus magniventris “ So unless you have the article that has the most recent size estimate currently on hand; Ankylosaurus IS close to 8 metric tons ( or 9 imperial tons ).
There are fossils of triceratops with healed rex bite marks. That meant the triceratops was able to escape. That means it was attacked whilst alive. Thus, T.rex was a predator that was attacking the most dangerous herbivores in the history of the planet.
there are also evidence of t rex teeth lodged inside hadrosaur skeletal remains that got healed over. this means that it survived. no paleontologists would take the scavenger theory seriously anymore

As much of a big fan of Spinosaurus as I'am ever since I was a kid, I'll agree that Spinosaurus was not a combat built predator since both Morocco and Egypt at the time were very dangerous lands to walk on with much fewer super theropods or predators that could hunt or fight Spinosaurus, but still didn't mean it would've fought for food it probably did fight Charcharadontosaurus and Sarcosuchus for food it was highly unlikely since Spino was built for survival, while North America was a land thriving with super sauropods and theropods, which were built for combat so T-Rex had to adapt to hunt Dinos that were practically built for combat or defense like the Trike or Anky an Edmonto an obv other Rexes. So T-Rex takes that win, and to Spino heretics calm ur asses down, I can feel a disturbane in the force that we share for our favourite Dino while ur roling in ur seats and bed nagging like Compies and Troodon's.

Rex wouldmt be able to even get close, spino out ranges rex, imagine an armless person trying to headbutt a boxer, Also, spino had waaay more dense bones than the rex. Dense boned animals include rhino, elephant,sauropods. All of which are massive and bulky. The truth is , spino is just very underrated. Also an adult char char vertebrae was found with a spino tooth embedded into it, and spino claw marks that showed NO healing (meaning it died). So spino has much more experience vs apex carnivores. Edit: also rexes brain was only large due to its olfactory area, it was very good at smeeling, but the rest of its cerebrum (for smart decision making) was very aversge for a dinosaur, so rex and spino likely had similar intelligence.
Dinosaurs couldn't walk in the tripod posture. We've known that for decades. T.rex had a brain double the size of other megatheropods, even if you discount the olfactory receptors. Theropod fights would involve face biting exchanges. In that case, you have a bleeding, pissed off T.rex and a Spinosaurus with a head resembling a watermelon that's been blasted by a shotgun. There's pretty much nothing a Spinosaurus could do to a t.rex. T.rex was bigger, stronger, more agile, more intelligent, more experienced since they fought other rexes *and* the most dangerous herbivores in the history of the planet, just to survive. Spinosaurus had stronger arms and claws, but they were slung under its body and they were not flexible enough to Reach something as tall as a T.rex. Where did you get your information? 2001? Estimates by Nizar Ibrahim (currently the guy who knows more about Spinosaurus than anyone else) and Paul Sereno (one of the best Theropod experts of all time) put Spinosaurus at 7400 kilogrammes on average. This is also in line with what other palaeontologists are saying these days. Average estimates for T.rex are now at 8800-9000 kilogrammes. Using Sereno again, the 8800 figure seems to be about right for a normal, healthy adult rex. That is an enormous size difference in favour of T.rex.

The 12+ tonnes is still not fully confirmed and most importantly that is the record not the average. On average the T.Rex was actually lighter than a modern bush elephant. Weighing actually more like 6 tonnes rather than 8 tonnes. Average estimates are determined by counting the number of discovered skeletons estimating their weight and then combining the weights and dividing them on the number of specimens. For instance you have 10 full skeletons. Let’s assume that 6 of them weigh 7 tonnes and 1 weighs 10 tonnes while 2 of them weigh 5 tonnes and one weighs 4 tonnes. So you have 10 skeletons putting the weights together you have 68 tonnes divided by 10 and you have 6.8 tonnes on average. And this primary level math if this is complex then your education either failed you or you’re just dumb. While the record for a bush elephant is over 10 tonnes. With spinosaurous however no one knows the record we only know the possible average estimate being 12 tonnes. Possibly 11 tonnes though. So the whole size advantage is mostly towards the spino. We don’t have as many well preserved spinosaur skeletons to know enough since they went extinct around 30 million years before the T.Rex and since it wasn’t a huge mass extinction many of the deceased spinosaur carcasses were severely damaged by scavengers. This wasn’t an issue with the T.Rex extinction since they’re 30 million years fresher and no scavengers were around to mangle the carcass. As for speed the spinosaurus was actually much faster than an adult Rex. The way they’re built allows perfect balance and great short burst speed without falling on their faces but they were probably not as agile as a T.Rex. Weaponry: the adult T.rexs main weapon was its jaws. And it had the highest bite force of any known theropod. BEAR IN MIND ! That it wasn’t the highest proportion in terms of proportional terrestrial animal bite forces. Believe it or not the mammal known as a RAT has a significantly superior bite force in terms of proportions but it’s still getting bodied by many other mammals their own size. So in short bite force isn’t everything in fact I’m more than willing to argue that the carcharodon probably had the deadliest bite of any theropod known to date. Spinosaurus: this behemoth was a triple threat. It was faster it could slash bite and deliver a powerful shock from that 4 tonne tail getting smacked by the tail of a spinosaur would probably feel like getting rammed by a packhyrhino. As for intelligence it’s all a farce. The most intelligent theropods weren’t even near corvid level let alone primate level. Overall specialised predators are usually the dumbest predators out there. Especially ones with enhanced senses due to the vast majority of brain size being dedicated to the senses like scent sound and sight rather than cognitive functions. Primates and corvids are great examples of this. Typically intelligent animals tend to have very poor to average eyesight. And overall weaker weaponry. And with theropods the T.Rex being a mix of crocodilian avian brain it was just as smart as an ostrich at best which is an incredibly stupid animal although average by modern avian standards. So IQ wouldn’t make a major difference here. In terms of survivability. Spinosaurus had to deal with predators just as deadly if not deadlier than a T.Rex. It had to be versatile to survive. While the T.Rex had no such opponents leading them to specialise at fighting off other rexs and thus the victor was usually the bigger Rex. With T.Rex fights were probably very short and victory was determined by who could land the bite to the others throat. That was it. You had one chance. But with a spinosaur that isn’t the case. They can bite sure but good luck getting one at the throat it’s not just gonna sit there and wave those huge claws in the air. It will slash. Now with all due respect to many palaeontologists out there they’re fucking idiots who don’t understand much about basic level biology. A T.Rex could probably bite an average human in half because “guess what ... it’s basic level understanding of proportions size and biophysics” even a rat can’t bite off the head of a mouse because despite the size gap it’s not big enough, because biting off the head of a foe your own size or twice your size is practically impossible even for a great white shark. The prey needs to be much smaller for the bite to be fully effective.

While for the giga it was 930kg/m3 another theropod that is actually lighter shorter and lower than a spino even lighter bones not as dense. Accurate measurements are closed to 10 tonnes and above. As for speed the average adult Rex was faster than the average American not even faster than the average human. It couldn’t even sprit just quick walk. It’s not about having long legs for starters the spinosaurus had much longer legs than these grossly misrepresented and outdated images because as many stated for over a decade now the Skelton is from different specimens different ages and possibly even different subspecies. But even with the smaller legs it could definitely sprit in contrast to a T.Rex. Ever seen a Cuban crocodile on the hunt ? And don’t even talk about carcharodon as if T.rex is anywhere near the level of that speed demon. Carcharodon was massive yet incredibly fast probably four times faster than a T.Rex. As for who wins that’s all up to debate but all opinions are noted even those from illiterate people with an IQ of 70.

I don't see why the Spino couldn't take the Rex in water, sure the Rex can swim, but Spino is obviously much better adapted for water, with jaws designed for grabbing and holding on. I imagine it could drown it, sort of like how a crocodile would take a lion.
On land, rex would win most of the time. But It still would not be an easy win, and it's very possible it would die from wounds later on. The claws on the spino are like meat hooks, that could do serious damage.

And I say that as an MMA fighter, no matter how hard I train my arms are useless against a predator with a good bite (outside of a choke, but you will never see a theropod do that). Bites kill, claws grab and dig, hands carry tools.

Correction about the t-rex arm strength. It wasn't the entire arm that could lift 200kg. That was JUST the bicep muscle. The arm consisted of most of the same muscles you have in your arm. Your arm can lift much more than just the amount your bicep can curl. I have never seen a proper study on the strength of the entire arm of the t-rex, but just judging by the biomechanics of how an arm works, I would estimate that each entire arm could probably have lifted around 800 to 1,000kg and may have been capable of supporting, or holding onto, as much as 2,000kg.

The only thing that’s uncertain now is the shape of the sail. Even if they manage to find a complete spino specimen, I doubt it’ll be larger than T. rex since the current 5 weigh less than 7 tons.

Many of the points and papers given were numerous, spot on, and a lot were shown that are probably not too known with the public. This is the first of these I’ve seen that gives Tyrannosaurus the win on land and in water, which is something groups of Paleontologists have agreed on recently thanks to the multiple analysis and work of Paul Sereno.
An example of Paleontologists mostly supporting your word comes from the Formorphology crew from a 2022 stream hosted in winter, in which this team all agreed that Tyrannosaurus obliterates Spinosaurus on land and still has the edge in open water.
While this was clearly a mostly educational video, I couldn’t help but find the beginning extremely humorous - having to actively restrain on using largest specimen vs largest specimen, because it’d be extremely obvious that Tyrannosaurus’ effortless 100% chance of killing Spinosaurus on land somehow transcends the ratio and turns into even more of a Godstomp - a beyond the concept of difficulty annihilation, if you will.
On a different note, currently I am partaking in assistance on an expensive project about this topic (As well as other topics), with this project using dozens and dozens of papers for supporting claims, modeling, animation, and extra private insight from Paleontologists who are experts on Dinosaurian anatomy and physics that assisted. The project is delayed and on slow progress at the moment, but it’ll eventually step back up with more time, which this Paleontological insight will be revealed when this finishes.
The project has a long way to go but I made this comment to assure you that this is the best video on this subject to date, with massive Paleontologists in the field supporting most of everything you elaborated upon, and I’d hope to see you in the comments when the project finishes - just be sure to give it a lot of time.
Before anyone panics, you have to remember: Spinosaurus was a glorified stork that still put up a hell of a fight against anything trying to push it around. Fighting was never its goal, but it handled itself well.
T.rex was literally built for fighting. T.rex woke up each morning and chose violence. It was literally made for fighting. To choose peace was the equivalent of a human choosing donuts, pizza, and weed; as peaceful and happy as that lifestyle is, it poisons and kills us in the long run sadly.
It isn’t fair to expect a giant fisherman to beat Tyson Fury or Mike Tyson in a boxing match. The latter two men literally fought for a living, while the former, big and strong as he is, would rather get back to fishing.

Great Video! As someone who is working on starting my own channel on dino stuff, I gotta root for the Giga. The Giga was the Ali of Therapods, built for speed and wounding jabs. The T-Rex was the Mike Tyson. If the Giga played it smart and used its speed, it could rip chunks off the Rex, but if the Rex gets one bite off, it's all over.

I find it funny that Jack Horner tried to use JP3 as a way to prop up his "Obligate Scavenger T. rex" hypothesis by having it eat a carcass and lose to the Spinosaurus, yet the T. rex in the movie still chases the humans like a predator despite the huge buffet it had with that dead dinosaur body.
I dont get the obsession with this duel. One (T-Rex) evolved to hunt Mega Fauna for every mean. Spinosaurus hunter fish. Which one is built to win this fight? You get 2 guesses and if you choose Spino, you are not thinking clearly.
I mean, 1) there are fish eaters alive nowadays that can pack up other carnivores pretty handily, so the argument should be based specifically on Spino's lower mass, stature, and bite force rather than their diet, and 2) people used to think, and a lot of people outside of the paleo community probably still think, Spinosaurus was a megahypercarnivore that preyed on pretty much the same things that T. rex did. No thanks to "documentaries" like Monsters Resurrected and initially movies like JP3. Hell, if you dig deep enough outside of the paleo community, I wouldn't be surprised if you found someone who thinks Spinosaurus _preyed on_ T. rex.

I would just like to add another point that is the t.rex has shown evidence of undergoing pachyosotosis in the skull region since Jack Horner had discovered a left front bone of t.rex which had shown to undergo pachyosotosis meaning it's skull and bone density would have probably been even thicker and denser than though before making it's skull as strong as a pachycepholosaurus.

About the 12 ton T Rex study, it must be noted that it was performed in the circumference of the femur of the specimen called Copium Rex, fitting name cause sed fanboys of other theropods to the cope zone. The femur circumference is one the most reliable indicators of a bigger animal given it shows how much weight actually could pack on the frame. Sue´s femur circumference is 580, scottys´is 590 and we know scotty was about 5% bigger than sue... Copium femur is 630!. Rather than asking our selves if it was bigger we should ask how much bigger it was. Also, 12 tons was the estimate weight but further analysis showed a maximu of 15 tons, this more than likely not been the case but is worth noting. 12 tones! Yeah, no theropod like spino or Giga where matching against the King

All these people saying Giga and other therapods could take T Rex seem to ignore Rex's giant fucking thickass skull with unreal bite force that out matches any other therapod. Just one monch from a Rex would have devastating consequences. The Spino and Giga though close in size would have a hard time dealing with such an insane bite force and the general weight of the Rex. If you're 6 feet tall and 180 pounds it stands to reason a 5 foot 11 inch 220 pound person might have an advantage. The new Rex they are working on now is supposedly bigger than Sue or Scotty. Until more fossils of Giga are found T Rex is king. Even if bigger they cant compete with T Rex's jaws and fused skull.

Its the amount of wrinkles there are in the brain and the overall size of the head compared to the body that predicts intelligence. we don’t have fossil remains of the brain but we can look at head size in proportion to body size. octopus have a huge brain compared to their body size. same goes for humans, chimps, elephants, and other animals that are intelligent. trex is no exception, their heads are massive in proportion to its body so there’s a high likelihood that it’s an intelligent animal.

I don't buy Spino being 7.7 tons. Most of the weight estimations used to get to that average must have come from older estimations which assumed a much deeper body shape, similar to t-rex and other theropods. However, spinosaurus had a more circular body shape, meaning it's chest and abdomen were much shallower, decreasing it's bulk by a lot. I would say that 7 tons is about as big as the spino actually got. A good average for an adult was probably around 5.5 tons.

Actually if you research you'll know that a spinosaurus spine has Carcharodontosaurus bite in it. Spino could fend off but if we are talking about stakes battle, then Spino can give T-rex some injuries while T-rex can cripple it in 1 bite and sweet death.
Obviously a real T. rex would beat a real spinosaurus but you can just explain it by saying the spino was like part hybrid. I say it was part hybrid because the way they understood it’s biology would be far different than the actual dinosaur. As such the scientists made it the way they thought it was built. With the characteristics given to it, it would be more of a hybrid than a clone because of how inaccurate it is. With these changes however I could say how this hypothetical spinosaurus could kill t-rex in real life. I mean it was very intelligent for an animal, bigger than the t-rex (bulk,length,height,), it had long arms with sharp claws and a long neck. Not only that it was very flexible and clearly had very strong crocodile-like scales. Even if its bite force was weaker, it wouldn’t matter with all of these advantages. I don’t see why people are so upset over the spino beating the T. rex because they scientists clearly made it very differently than our modern understanding so I think it makes sense how it could beat a T. rex. Honestly from this perspective it makes the spinosaurus so much more interesting as it is almost an entirely different dinosaur and as such likely had a lot of gaps in the dna meaning it was largely a hybrid designed specifically to mimic what they thought it looked like.
Or you could explain it by saying we knew next to nothing about Spinosaurus in 2001, and Jack Horner's scavenger hypothesis made it seem more badass than the T.rex to the filmmakers. If it was a hybrid, then how did Alan Grant almost immediately recognize it as a Spinosaurus, while the kid from Jurassic World immediately knew the Indominus rex, a hybrid, wasn't a real dinosaur?

Besides the study of its size estimates most recently so far comes from Victoria M. Arbour & Jordan Mallon in 2017, after finding better material & redescribed the genus.
The estimates now have the smallest specimen ( AMNH 5214 ) at 4.78 metric tons ( 5.27 short tons ); and the largest specimen ( CMN 8880 ) at 7.95 metric tons ( 8.76 short tons)
The agreed body length is 8 meters ( 26 feet ) in length.
Their article for the size estimates is this; “ Unusual cranial and postcranial anatomy in the archetypal ankylosaur Ankylosaurus magniventris “
So unless you have the article that has the most recent size estimate currently on hand; Ankylosaurus IS close to 8 metric tons ( or 9 imperial tons ).
Ankylosaurus probably can range 11 tons.!

There are fossils of triceratops with healed rex bite marks. That meant the triceratops was able to escape. That means it was attacked whilst alive. Thus, T.rex was a predator that was attacking the most dangerous herbivores in the history of the planet.
there are also evidence of t rex teeth lodged inside hadrosaur skeletal remains that got healed over. this means that it survived. no paleontologists would take the scavenger theory seriously anymore

Estimates by Nizar Ibrahim (currently the guy who knows more about Spinosaurus than anyone else) and Paul Sereno (one of the best Theropod experts of all time) put Spinosaurus at 7400 kilogrammes on average. This is also in line with what other palaeontologists are saying these days.
Average estimates for T.rex are now at 8800-9000 kilogrammes. Using Sereno again, the 8800 figure seems to be about right for a normal, healthy adult rex. That is an enormous size difference in favour of T.rex.

The 12+ tonnes is still not fully confirmed and most importantly that is the record not the average. On average the T.Rex was actually lighter than a modern bush elephant. Weighing actually more like 6 tonnes rather than 8 tonnes. Average estimates are determined by counting the number of discovered skeletons estimating their weight and then combining the weights and dividing them on the number of specimens. For instance you have 10 full skeletons.
Let’s assume that 6 of them weigh 7 tonnes and 1 weighs 10 tonnes while 2 of them weigh 5 tonnes and one weighs 4 tonnes. So you have 10 skeletons putting the weights together you have 68 tonnes divided by 10 and you have 6.8 tonnes on average. And this primary level math if this is complex then your education either failed you or you’re just dumb.
While the record for a bush elephant is over 10 tonnes. With spinosaurous however no one knows the record we only know the possible average estimate being 12 tonnes. Possibly 11 tonnes though. So the whole size advantage is mostly towards the spino. We don’t have as many well preserved spinosaur skeletons to know enough since they went extinct around 30 million years before the T.Rex and since it wasn’t a huge mass extinction many of the deceased spinosaur carcasses were severely damaged by scavengers. This wasn’t an issue with the T.Rex extinction since they’re 30 million years fresher and no scavengers were around to mangle the carcass.
As for speed the spinosaurus was actually much faster than an adult Rex. The way they’re built allows perfect balance and great short burst speed without falling on their faces but they were probably not as agile as a T.Rex.
Weaponry: the adult T.rexs main weapon was its jaws. And it had the highest bite force of any known theropod.
BEAR IN MIND ! That it wasn’t the highest proportion in terms of proportional terrestrial animal bite forces. Believe it or not the mammal known as a RAT has a significantly superior bite force in terms of proportions but it’s still getting bodied by many other mammals their own size. So in short bite force isn’t everything in fact I’m more than willing to argue that the carcharodon probably had the deadliest bite of any theropod known to date.
Spinosaurus: this behemoth was a triple threat. It was faster it could slash bite and deliver a powerful shock from that 4 tonne tail getting smacked by the tail of a spinosaur would probably feel like getting rammed by a packhyrhino.
As for intelligence it’s all a farce. The most intelligent theropods weren’t even near corvid level let alone primate level. Overall specialised predators are usually the dumbest predators out there. Especially ones with enhanced senses due to the vast majority of brain size being dedicated to the senses like scent sound and sight rather than cognitive functions. Primates and corvids are great examples of this. Typically intelligent animals tend to have very poor to average eyesight. And overall weaker weaponry. And with theropods the T.Rex being a mix of crocodilian avian brain it was just as smart as an ostrich at best which is an incredibly stupid animal although average by modern avian standards. So IQ wouldn’t make a major difference here.
In terms of survivability. Spinosaurus had to deal with predators just as deadly if not deadlier than a T.Rex. It had to be versatile to survive. While the T.Rex had no such opponents leading them to specialise at fighting off other rexs and thus the victor was usually the bigger Rex. With T.Rex fights were probably very short and victory was determined by who could land the bite to the others throat. That was it. You had one chance. But with a spinosaur that isn’t the case. They can bite sure but good luck getting one at the throat it’s not just gonna sit there and wave those huge claws in the air. It will slash.
Now with all due respect to many palaeontologists out there they’re fucking idiots who don’t understand much about basic level biology. A T.Rex could probably bite an average human in half because “guess what ... it’s basic level understanding of proportions size and biophysics” even a rat can’t bite off the head of a mouse because despite the size gap it’s not big enough, because biting off the head of a foe your own size or twice your size is practically impossible even for a great white shark. The prey needs to be much smaller for the bite to be fully effective.

You got your T.rex weight estimates by... pulling them out of thin air. Modern estimates average out at about 8.8-9 tonnes for T.rex. That's based on studies from 2022. Equivalent 2022 studies from the best palaeontologists have Spinosaurus at 7.2-7.5 tonnes. That's a massive weight gap.
As for speed? You're joking right? Spinosaurus had undersized hind legs compared to other megatheropods like Tyrannosaurs and Carcharodontosaurs. That is confirmed. It was *far* slower. T.rex wins this and it's not even close.

As for the spinosaur the estimate you received claiming spinosaurus was 7.2 tonnes is from that buffoon of a researcher called Paul sereno and the guy is an absolute dummy. He didn’t even know how to do the estimates correctly and used incredibly low density if his measurement methods were applied to the T.Rex the same way that’d mean the T.Rex was only 3 tonnes. The details are too complex for you to understand but I’ll just say this “spinosaurus had the desist bones of any terrestrial megafauna in history” the measurements sereno used were 830kg/m3. While for the giga it was 930kg/m3 another theropod that is actually lighter shorter and lower than a spino even lighter bones not as dense. Accurate measurements are closed to 10 tonnes and above.
As for speed the average adult Rex was faster than the average American not even faster than the average human. It couldn’t even sprit just quick walk.
It’s not about having long legs for starters the spinosaurus had much longer legs than these grossly misrepresented and outdated images because as many stated for over a decade now the Skelton is from different specimens different ages and possibly even different subspecies.
But even with the smaller legs it could definitely sprit in contrast to a T.Rex. Ever seen a Cuban crocodile on the hunt ? And don’t even talk about carcharodon as if T.rex is anywhere near the level of that speed demon. Carcharodon was massive yet incredibly fast probably four times faster than a T.Rex.
