I’ve watched this documentary over and over. Sometimes the faces and voices of these unique, beautiful women come into my mind from out of nowhere, and I imagine them in this place and wonder what they are doing. The interviews in this are truly outstanding, providing such a personal glimpse into a rare form of life. Thank you for this documentary, and thank you to the Trappistines for inspiring me to live my life more closely united with God.
yes, I feel the same way. This are REAL WOMEN, beautiful, loving, giving, pious, pure, honest. The World needs such women, in the convents but also in the world, as wives and mothers, sisters, co-workers and friends
So many people go around thumping their chests proclaiming they're the real Christians in this world, do as I do, think as I think blah blah let me run your life for you. But when I see these ladies, there's such incredible gentleness, wide openness to people just as they are. They may keep a very strict observance, (it is unlikely I could maintain such constant discipline!) but they are some of the most inviting and peaceful people I've ever seen. You can feel it where Christ really dwells, He saturates the environment with peace. I can feel the contrast with people and places just doing lip service. And for me it feels like one can't help but be drawn to Him like a magnet. It's just so extraordinary that these ladies have achieved a state where they have stepped aside in themselves to just the exact right level where you can see both Him and themselves as followers of Him, and what it looks like when someone has accepted His invitation and His grace. It's as if in surrendering themselves they've become more of an individual. It's paradoxical and miraculous. People like this are truly light and leaven in a needy world, may they always prosper.
How quiet and filled with deep joy these sisters seem to be in comparison with the stress and confusion of the outside world. The call must be very sincere for them to devote their lives to prayer like this. Blessings to you all.
This is a life of silence and solitude which one needs so as to be with Jesus and spend her whole life with God and to pray for the world as Jesus wants her through prayer and work with Jesus.
A beautiful young woman in her 20s recommended watching this video from her own Christian/Bible Channel. She was so inspired by this video that she shared it to inspire us in our quiet time with the Lord. I'm a 65 year old, soon to be Great Grandma. This video touched me so deeply. Thank you Sister's for your prayers and dedication to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
This documentary is therapeutic. I have listened to it multiple times. The personal comments and witness from the sisters give me hope every time, their words draw me to God. Spirit-inspired documentary! Thank you!
100% agreed, I feel exactly the same way. For me, it's the finest and most inspiring documentary on the subject that I have ever seen or that possibly has ever been made.
I’m a cradle Catholic, but I chose a life of sin over God until last summer, became a nondenominational Christian, was anti Catholic and spoke out as an “ex Catholic”, and reverted shortly after I graduated high school. There was something about those couple days of silence that made me really think about my beliefs away from those I was closest to. My conversion was fast, even though I was hesitant and that is a blessing because I am now much more sincere and fulfilled by my faith in Christ. I sincerely believe that it was because of my parents prayers and the powerful prayers of nuns. Thank you for praying for those who long for fulfillment in this world, 🙏🏻
I'm a cradle Catholic who went through an intolerant atheist phase but am now a mere pagan. Okay, I'm joking about that last part... I'm on the fence about God but I no longer try to convince believers otherwise. I started being open to the existence of God's divine majesty when I got a goof telescope.
@@DJRonnieG I grew up working on this very farm as a child. I'm now an atheist. It is normal for new people to preach about their beliefs. Atheist do it, but so do vegans, born again Christian's and newly out gay people. Then you settle in the beliefs and get less vocal. ;)
I am inspired by their measured, thoughtful, thought provoking, loving answers to the questions posed. A life full of love. Wish more young people were willing to answer God's call to this life. their families should be proud of them and inspired by them. i know I would be, if one of my daughters answered God's call to a vocational life, even if I missed her presence.
God bless you Sisters. I remember being at a beach here in my homeland of Australia. Looking out at the ocean, standing on bare rocks. With just the gentle sound of the waves. I looked out to the horizon and then closed my eyes and asked God , • lord I want to have you around me everywhere, I want to feel you in the air I breathe, the water I see..” I opened my eyes... That moment I knew what it meant to be in the presence of the Almighty. I cannot describe it in words but the air I was breathing my was filled with this fullness which I can only describe as Pure love and God. The ocean. The rocks, everything Was filled with a thickness. It was as though I could touch the air as the air was full of the Lord... Even now I’m getting goosebumps.. That feeling. The presence of the Lord in my life is the only thing I am craving. The only thing I want. I’m ready to leave earthly “needs”.. How beautiful it is that The Lord allows us the ultimate gift of knowing him.
@@elysebuehrer5981 wow..That is so amazing! I actually have tears in my eyes reading what you just wrote! HE truly is worth it all! Bless you Elyse ✝️🌸🥰👍
Wow this I believe is the reason why the Catholic Church is still alive, with all its imperfections. The devotion of these sisters is the saving grace of Catholicism. I guess for those of us who love God but not in monasteries, our response should be : I prefer JESUS more than what I can see, feel, hear. In my daily busy life, I want YOUR presence more than anything. I seek after YOU and YOU ALONE, in everything I do, and in everyone I see, wherever I am . Amen.
@@RGTomoenage11 We have soooo many "unholy" distractions in the RCC... BUT there are plenty of faithful, spirit filled Catholics all OVER the world! EVEN if you're in a parish where you feel there's lots of division and deception going on... TAKE time to visit the sanctuary during an adoration hour or pay attention to someone praying the rosary before Mass... There's your HOPE!!!!
The Catholic Church has suffered persecution many times since Christ started It with Hus Apostles, and we will survive what She is going through right now. When the swamp is drained and we get back to basics, the Catholic Church will come back STRONGER!
Throughout watching this video. I was very emotional and tears ran down my face because a lot of what was said by the sisters, I too have had this same connection to finding God. I want to serve others and make a difference in this world. I have heard the call since I was a child, at one point I wanted to become a nun and spent countless hours in my room praying instead of playing outside with the other kids, but life took me a different direction in life. Here I am again and his call is all I think about day and night. Several years ago, I had two major visions one with Saint Anthony where I ran to him and called out for him and touched his clothing he turned and acknowledged my presence and to say to me that he is listening to my prayers, and another one with our Lord's hand touching my head. It was beautiful and I hold on to that moment because I know it is meant for me to do something greater. As I was praying in the silence in my room, I saw this bright white light brighter than anything I have ever seen and suddenly I saw our Lord's white robe and his and hand. I was in awe and in complete peace as he touched my head for a split second and then I opened my eyes. What a privilege I am here Lord ready to accept your calling and what you ask of me. Amen, Amen, Amen!
Are you talking about discerning a vocation as a nun? If you are, and assuming that that's not your daughter in the picture - do it! Thank you for sharing. What a beautiful heart you have. God bless you💟✝️
I love these sisters like they are my own. Sometimes I wish I would not have wasted my youth and good health as a military woman. I'm not even Catholic, but the nuns fascinate me, and make me want to be a purer daughter of The Most High. Thank you for this video. Many blessings.
You didn't waste your time, that was your calling and as for being a pure daughter of the Most High, we still have the chance to do so until we are called back home. Big hugs
@MAKEUP LADY Not necessarily wear a nuns habit but just being alone w/Him. I had my tv disconnected because it was separating me from my time alone with Jesus. Also social media, facebook UA-cam, etc. rob us. Spend less time w/those and more time with Him as He leads you. Be ever mindful of His unfailing love and we can't do that if half our time is spent in worldly pleasures. God bless you.
MAKEUP LADY, I also think that as we age, convents/monastaries don't want us do to our aging and getting sicker/weaker with each passing birthday. Perhaps they don't want to become nursing homes, just a thought. Blessings, Sally
"I'm 91, soon to be 92". Wow! Amazing how she looks younger than her age. It"s clear how living a stress free life brings joy to them. It shows everytime they talk.
The older (and hopefully wiser) I become, the more clearly I see that most humans are profoundly dysfunctional in their relationships with the result that very many continuously - consciously and/or unconsciously - need to attack and undermine others. Service to Self rules, rather than Service to Others which is, in any walk of life, far more rewarding and satisfying.
I grew up with one of the Sisters that was in this beautiful video. She was an angel when we grew up in Chicago. The last time I saw her was58 years ago. She looks just beautiful. Sister Robert Blough.
@@johnblakemore2078 hello and blessings Renie! Well I obviously thought the sentiments were expressed by John since they came under his name. So then how lucky you were to having "lived" in the company of a Saint! Virtue of what you write it seems she was "Saintly disposed" from an early age and thence when on to fulfil her commitment to the good God. You might never know, certainly this side of the river, how much her prayers for you have helped you and John through life. (BTW which nun is she? I presume she is in the "background" ) Peace.
I'd like to say, I grew up on this monastery. My father was friends with the caretaker, Greg. And I would spend my summers, cleaning out the cow stalls, bailing and stacking hay, growing and cutting corn, and my favorite task, opening up the tons of donated hostess products that they would feed to the cows to increase the buttermilk Level. One Twinkie for the cow, one Twinkie for the eight year-old me. How I didn't leave there a 300 pound diabetic I have no idea. But I remember many lunches of boiled potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and maybe an ounce of meat after spending eight hours in the fields spreading cow or bailing hay. It was such a peaceful and relaxing existence.I don't get over there very much anymore but when I do a sense of peace comes over me.
Conforming to the image of Christ as these precious sisters give up their selves, are ready to esteem others better than themselves and live humble lives. Lives of integrity, sacrifice and humility. " It is more blessed to give than to receive ". Worthy life! Amen.
Lovely to know that Sr. Sofia was voted in as Abbess in 2019, and Sr. Karla made her solemn vow in 2020. The sense of their devotion that comes through the video seems confirmed.
and that's what God wants us all to do, to be in love with him. It's not just the role of the nun to love him. It's all of our will to do God's Will which is to love him above all else and neighbor.
I have spent time with the Trappistines in Canada. My faith was deeply affected by exposure to life with the Sisters. I went first in 1972 and have been back many times since. I am deeply happy while I am there and always want to stay longer. But as a Mother of three I am very blessed to have 3 9r 4 days a week. Once I stayed in the Pilgroms Retreat House for a week. I have come to understand that the work the sisters do- pray fir the world is the most valuable world ongoing. Just alone the sacrifice of each life to God at the Trappustines must be a very deeply pleasing matter to God I believe. I have always felt a week at the Trappistines prepares me for life outside in the world for 6 months or so. The deep peace of the Trappistines is incontrovertible. Outside the world has chaos and madness. The Trappistines are deeply spiritual women in a physical materialistic world. Yhank God they are there always praying for the world.
I think God is speaking to many of us lately. I've noticed this video was uploaded over 6 months ago but most of the comments are more recent. I've noticed this on many videos about sisters and vocation lately. Something about the sisters deeply speaks to me and makes me feel something very deep because of their selfless ways and dedication to God. Their prayers are making us listen more and more.
This documentary is inspiring and moving, can't believe I watch this video almost everyday just to get inspiration from these sisters! Very genuine. Truly inspiring. I see in them the love of God and their deep sense of God.

This is the most BASED thing I've ever seen. STRONG women living their life FULLY for God. I, as a man, hope that I can match this strength and devotion to our Lord. What an incredible view we were given of our Sisters fighting the good fight. The pure joy and love these wonderful women have for our Lord is tear jerking. May God bless you every moment of every day. The sacrifice seen here is awesome (in its true meaning) and terrifying! And even THAT pales in comparison to the sacrifice of our Lord. It brings tears to my eyes and a warm, wonderful, welcome, penetrating pain to my heart. Thank you, Sisters.
I like how they look so contented, happy, especially when they talk about God. Thank you for this video, it's wonderful to know more about a life all for God
The sister's testimony from 24:15. How beutiful. She shines with the love of our Lord. Such a gentle soul is a gift to the world and to the glory of our God in Jesus. I'd love to ask her to pray with me. All of the sisters there have such a heart for our Lord. And i know, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that he holds each of their hands. God bless all of my sisters and brothers in the Lord. Glory be to GOD.. HE'S ALIVE!

@Bridget Walker that's pretty judgemental. my comment was an ironic aside about religious eutopias and human fallibility and weakness. kind of a dark joke-- which means it's laced with truth

I love that...the sister who says if she feels pride while on compost charge all she has to do is "take a big sniff!" I've been drawn to watch Catholic monastery movies/documentaries, and this one is very instructive and informative to how one can lead their lives in order to be closer to God. The personal comments shared are amazing and thought provoking in how one can apply it to their own lives. Thanks you so much for the spiritual direction, as well as an enlightening video.

Such women of courage, individualism, and depth. Such beautiful people. Where did all the good women go? I guess they went to the monasteries. Let no man ever make fun of such beautiful souls....Thank you so much sisters!
I think of nuns I imagine older elderly sisters. Seeing the young novices is so sweet. Hard to believe there are young women that have this calling in 2020. But there are, which is very inspiring.
Pamela K hello! Not sure what the date 2020 has to do with matters. Our Blessed Lord's LOVE and CALL is "eternal"! Matt 16 17-19 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in Heaven. I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church; and the gates of Hell will NEVER prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in Heaven . . . ." The words NEVER PREVAIL are crucial thereby these glorious women these Great Souls are an ongoing response to Christ's LOVE and his CALL, - spacetime is irrelevant. Jesus Christ - the same yesterday, today and FOREVER. Peace.
I'm not a Christian, but I still found this really interesting. I admire these ladies for pursuing this path, it doesn't look like an easy life, but they're obviously happy. Edit- I didn't release so many people had responded to this! Firstly, it seems like a negative comment was posted here and removed before I could see it. I appreciate the people who stuck up for me! Secondly, I'm afraid I'm just a respectful passer-by with a great interest in different peoples lives, i am NOT a prospective Christain. I know everyone means well, but we all find faith in our own way, in our own time (If at all!) I think it's important to be respectful of that.
@@majbrittcastrupjrgensen2874 his opinion is not that of any Christian I know. I respect people have their own views as I struggled with my faith until my early twenties.
@David Joseph This is exactly why no dialogue is possible with Christians. This inability to respect the Other, to accept the Other in his/ her difference, to understand that the world G' has created is a world of many different voices because humanity expresses itself as a whole, through a large spectrum of voices.. This is what is called in modern language: Fascism
Why do believers think they need to use words like "thee" and 'thou?... Pretending they live in biblical times? Do they also say "I'll meet thee at the bowling alley"?
One of the best documentaries of this kind I've seen. Thank you for letting a good number of the sisters speak for a decent length of time. Their words, borne out of their experience of bliss and pain, speak to those of us who thirst after God. I know I'll be returning to this video.

Wow, this is the best video I’ve ever seen on religious life. I never heard people speak this way about God before. Up until this point I thought I was alone in thinking this way.
Dont follow your heart only... it is very deceiving method. Exceed theologically, find a spiritual director, serve others and pray for discernment. We need committed Christians in monasteries as well as in secular society to edify the Body of Christ.
I also recommend "Life in Hidden Light" here on UA-cam. I have six children and would be blessed beyond measure if one or more of them were called to the religious life.
These women are incredible, especially the woman explaining the different ways we serve God in daily life being like the facets of a diamond. Beautiful.
As a college sophomore in 1970, I visited Mt. St. Mary's Abbey, but was advised not to apply at that time. I later married the love of my life and we were blessed with six children. I'm grateful for my vocation, and see the beauty of the sisters' life as well. This film movingly portrays their special call.
The obvious sanity, authenticity, and grounded presence of these women is the perfect tonic if I ever doubt our amazing belief system. I want to be like them.
God bless these holy women who are brave to give their lives to God in this very special way. This is a great vocation. May God+ complete what he started+
I grew up with sisters all through my school and college years they were wonderful ladies , kind but hard , very respected amongst us kids , many of them would have already passed now but I grew to love them .
I am living here in Japan, and was so grateful to have met wonderful sisters from our church. I was very much touched with their passion and love for everyone and most of all to God
I am always amazed at watching these videos how much this is reflective of my life as wife and mother to my husband and son. So much of what the day is like for the nuns is how my family life is. In many ways, it seems that the sisters have left one family to be with a new family. The same happens when a person marries a spouse. The devotion the sisters give to one another is much the same as I give to my family members. Life as a wife and mother is a life of sacrifice for the sake of love. God called me to this vocation and it takes all of my energy to give to it. I have died to self so many times it has become habit without thinking. Prayer goes on throughout the day. It is a conversation with God. In service is when I sense the Lord's presence the most. I have a very quiet day for the most part and I work at many chores and manage a small family business. Anyone could argue this point but a vocation to the Lord takes the same kind of work and devotion. It is a sacrifice to give up marriage but it is also a sacrifice to be married. It forces you to look at your failings and to pray and go beyond yourself to be what the Lord wants - to love people when they are the most unlovable.
As a Protestant, I completely understand the desire to grow as close to my Heavenly Father as is possible here in this imperfect world. The call to give up everything I’ve known & dedicate my life to my God, my Savior and spreading His word, leading others to Him through the love of my Lord. I am a RN, God called me into nursing from the time I was 5 years old. My precious Mother knew it as well. We were poor, by the world’s standards. But, she would tear strips from old pieces of cloth, sheets, whatever she had and I would use use those as bandages, add popsicle sticks as bandages to “nurse” her, my siblings, even our pet beagle “Sweet Thing.” She said that at one point she couldn’t even see Sweet Thing for all of the bandages & popsicle sticks that I had covered her with....the poor thing couldn’t walk or even wag her tail - LOL!! We didn’t have running hot water until I was probably around 10 years old (I don’t quite remember.) We washed our clothes using a ringer washer or by going to the laundromat up until I was 18 years old. We grew our own vegetables, preserved them & had enough to get us through the winter for the most part. I want my faith to be as great as these holy women. What a great calling. But God a plan for all of us who accept Christ. We are to be just as devoted & with all things, give Him the praise, honor & glory. I love Him because He first loved me, Christ suffered, died for my sins & defeated death rising up from the grave on the 3rd day....for me, an undeserving sinner. Blessings to you all!! ❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Sister Marilyn' words did me in... "He' my companion". Christ is with every one of us, so whether in a monastery or a nunnery, or out in the world, whether or not you like it, Christ is with you - always. Before and behind you, to your left and your right, above and below.. the very air you breathe. God bless these brides of Christ and their love for Him. Pray for us, sisters, and thank you for those prayers.. saving souls.
I saw this on EWTN and recorded it on my DVR. I watched it over and over and over again. It speaks to my heart and soul comforts me when I am sad or stressed or worried. Because of circumstances beyond my control, I no longer have the recording. I would love to get the DVD!

Is there anything more beautiful than our Sacred Catholic Church and the pure and authentic love these Sisters radiate? All Glory be to the King of Kings

The interviews in this are truly outstanding, providing such a personal glimpse into a rare form of life. Thank you for this documentary, and thank you to the Trappistines for inspiring me to live my life more closely united with God.
Amen same here
yes, I feel the same way.
Yeah and it takes years to become a nun. I totally believe it is a sincere call.
I must admit, this doco is actually quite calming

A beautiful young woman in her 20s recommended watching this video from her own Christian/Bible Channel. She was so inspired by this video that she shared it to inspire us in our quiet time with the Lord. I'm a 65 year old, soon to be Great Grandma. This video touched me so deeply. Thank you Sister's for your prayers and dedication to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
This documentary is therapeutic. I have listened to it multiple times. The personal comments and witness from the sisters give me hope every time, their words draw me to God. Spirit-inspired documentary! Thank you!
I feel the same way. Very beautiful to listen to. The guitarist sang a beautiful song I would like to listen to again
Same brother. Sending prayers from Croatia
100% agreed, I feel exactly the same way. For me, it's the finest and most inspiring documentary on the subject that I have ever seen or that possibly has ever been made.
Very beautiful, I have watched it over 6 times. It just draws me in.
AMEN ! You nailed it
I’m a cradle Catholic, but I chose a life of sin over God until last summer, became a nondenominational Christian, was anti Catholic and spoke out as an “ex Catholic”, and reverted shortly after I graduated high school.
I looked out to the horizon and then closed my eyes and asked God , • lord I want to have you around me everywhere, I want to feel you in the air I breathe, the water I see..”
I opened my eyes...

Amen.

It's not stress free...
This is a fantastic look at this order and a life dedicated totally to our blessed Lord. What a wonderful testimony to whole--holy living.

Amazing
I was in tears watching this. Theirs is a really genuine expression of happiness living a life so close to God.

This is so wonderful. you Sister's are. fabulous. thank you for your prayers . your love. God bless you all .
I saw this on EWTN and recorded it on my DVR. I watched it over and over and over again. It speaks to my heart and soul comforts me when I am sad or stressed or worried. Because of circumstances beyond my control, I no longer have the recording. I would love to get the DVD!
I feel an amazing sweet peace just watching the video.. I LOVE silence.. all of the sisters look so content, happy and fulfilled .
God bless them all 👼🏼🙏👼🏼
Hello how are you doing 😊😊😊😊
This was beautiful to watch. I know God is speaking and calling so many of us and it is difficult to answer that call when the world has us distracted. Pray for me. I seek God and I pray to find my vocation and to be at the center of his will.
This looks like a very healthy community. It’s wonderful to see.
This is so beautiful. I cried multiple times while watching...a huge respect to all of sisters 💖God bless 🙏
One of the teens from youth ministry who was on my team left to the cloistered Norbitine sisters this past fall. Praying for us all is her simple and most powerful way to do great things for the world.
Thank you Sisters for making this beautiful documentary. I've watched it a few times now and it brings me so much peace. God Bless You All.

God bless all the sisters. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life with us all and praying for the world.
Our world is so busy and full of things the older you get, the more these things don’t fulfill you and there’s a great void in your soul. It is God calling, but I’m lost, in a world I don’t really belong to. God help us🙏🏻🙏🏻
